The latest argument against Act 10 has been tried before, but some think this time it could work. Lawyers for the teachers' union in Abbotsford on Tuesday tried to once again make an equal protection claim in the latest effort to strike down Act 10. Specifically, Karabell says the public safety carve out creates two classes of public employees. But Jacob Curtis, an attorney with the Institute for Reforming Government, told The Center Square the argument has been tested in court once before to no avail.Full story:https://www.thecentersquare.com/wisconsin/article_b6d4e776-1db7-11ef-a832-6bf0410c1fd1.html

Even though technically nothing has changed in terms of Hollywood “getting back to normal,” it suddenly feels like it has. And that's a good thing! In Take A Hike, Sarah describes the benefits of Kirtan Kriya meditation. Then Liz and Sarah answer a Mailroom question about how ethical writers were (or weren't) during the strike. Live from the no panic zone—I'm Steve Gruber—I am America's Voice— I am a man on a mission to make this nation better—and yes I am proud to say I believe in America First— Here are three big things you need to know know right now-- ONE— Joe Biden will not be attending the funeral of the former Pope Benedict the 16th—it seems the Pope made it clear—not to invite the man in The White House—hmmmm— TWO— The Fed may be ready to jack up interest rates once again—that is the takeaway from the December minutes that have been released—I will tell you what that means— THREE— Former President Donald Trump called for unity behind California Congressman Kevin McCarthy—and suddenly nobody cared and nothing changed—instead the number of those voting against the embattled Republican leader grew— It has to make you wonder if the influence of the man running for a third term has waned— his endorsements leading up to the past few elections have carried serious weight—BUT that appears to not be the case any more— I mean those pushing back include some staunch supporters over the years and people he has openly supported in elections and other times—members of Congress like Matt Gaetz of Florida—and Lauren Boebert of Colorado—not to mention members like Ralph Norman of South Carolina and Andy Biggs of Arizona— Congressman Gaetz took it one step further on Wednesday—and called the endorsement by Trump, Sad! A clear shot at one of the former Presidents catch phrases— But it appears this battle for the heart of the Republican Party and the GOP is much bigger and more significant than some people realized— With a block of 21 Republicans not only saying no to supporting McCarthy—BUT saying they will never support him and that he will never be speaker—just like they have been saying for weeks now—it looks like McCarthy will not emerge as the House leader—or ever get the gavel— It's the first time since 1923 that a Speaker has not been selected on the first ballot— And let me be clear—I think this is a good thing—I am with the dozens of heavyweight conservatives that do not support McCarthy—and instead—support a robust debate on who will get the gavel— In fact, I am a big fan of Florida Congressman Byron Donalds—who was nominated and picked up 20 votes in the 5th and 6th votes— Though most observers say Donalds has no chance—I say that's too bad! Its too bad that in order to become Speaker—or get whatever other assignment you want—its based on longevity and not on talent and ability—it makes the Congress sound more like it runs on a union mentality and not the meritocracy that America has always run on in the past— I think Donalds who is entering his second term, is in his early forties with a great story and a background in finance—and a fierce presence on TV is the perfect kind of leader for a new wave of conservatism—the fact that he is black is another bonus—because as I have said on this program for a long time now—the new face of conservatism in America—is black and brown—as more and more traditional Democrats reject the status quo and search for a new political home—HOW better to do that and set the tone for the future than to put an eloquent, articulate, incredibly bright black man on the floor as the Speaker of the House? Talk about turning the tide—and getting millions of black and Hispanic Americans to re-think their entire political identity—you could not find a more effective person to pull that off than Byron Donalds— I personally think he is a Rock Star—but alas—he has not been in the club long enough to get the nod from the old fools from the old school— Meanwhile—it is important for America to see that Republicans are truly interested in fighting for what is best for this nation and its people—sure the Democrats are jeering from the cheap seats about how the GOP is in disarray and how they cannot govern—and I say that is not at all what you are seeing— In fact the 20 rebels—are demanding new leadership that won't cave to every Democrat demand—and spend money we don't have over and over again in 5,000 page bills that no one has even read—the block of 20 will also prevent any Democrat from ascending to the throne of power as some are suggesting could happen—it won't— I am thrilled to see people that are willing to fight for this nation and that are willing to put their political futures and fortunes on the line—to demand change, accountability and for once real transparency—none of which would have ever come from Mitch McConnell's lapdog McCarthy— Politics can be messy—especially when the old guard is getting tossed out—and make no mistake that is happening right now—the gravy train has been run of the tracks by a bunch of radicals that have the nerve to believe America First actually means something— Its about time somebody stood up and said no! Its about time somebody stood up and said we have done these same old things over and over again long enough! I have no idea where this is going to end—BUT right now I am watching and enjoying the status quo and business as usual get torched by people who promised their voters that is exactly what they intended to do— And as far as spineless weasels like Fred Upton trying to come in and lead some milquetoast crap from the socialist middle—that will never happen either— Thank God—God bless America—and enjoy the show—its an important one—that is long overdue!

Lesson 11 Part 2 The Bible was clearly meant for those the first ones to hear it. Like the Torah. It was meant for the Hebrews coming out of Egypt. The New Testament was written for the first disciples like John and Mark and Matthew and Paul and Mary. And once we understand what the "first hearers" heard and understood, we then an see how it relates to us. God gave them His word so they understood it and passed it down to us. The Messianic Jewish believers lived in a Jewish culture 2000 years ago and they perhaps saw things and understood things a lot differently than us. So we will again put the Bible in its historical context. Once again we will study His word taking in account the ancient Jewish culture of those first disciples. When we do and study the GREEK and not the English, we find there is a compelling alternative understanding to verses that supposedly suggest Jesus changed everything. Contemporary theologians say that these verses show that Jesus changed the Sabbath from its Biblical practice to the way the "church" does it today. The three verses we will study are shown below taken from the NASB version. We will study these verses in their historical context. When we do the view that Jesus changed, God changed, is seriously challenged. VERSE 1 - Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also. On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come. When I arrive, whomever you may approve, I will send them with letters to carry your gift to Jerusalem; (1Co 16:1-3) VERSE 2 - On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight. There were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered together. And there was a young man named Eutychus sitting on the window sill, sinking into a deep sleep; and as Paul kept on talking, he was overcome by sleep and fell down from the third floor and was picked up dead. But Paul went down and fell upon him, and after embracing him, he said, "Do not be troubled, for his life is in him." When he had gone back up and had broken the bread and eaten, he talked with them a long while until daybreak, and then left. They took away the boy alive, and were greatly comforted. (Act 20:7-12) VERSE 3 - I, John, your brother and fellow partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea." (Rev 1:9-11) To continue your study on the Sabbath I strongly recommend the following books and resources ... (one's with * are a must) * Kiesz, John. "A History of the Sabbath and Sunday." Old to Us but New to You! For our season premiere we're releasing an episode that was recorded over a year ago but is very relevant today. Take a listen, follow us on social @The Authentik Life and share your thoughts. The Woman, Mom and Wife roles have always stood for strength in the black community. There's a lot of talk about women wanting it all. Most women are trying to wear all of these hats flawlessly. Woman. Mom. Wife. Sister. Daughter. Business Owner. Corporate Queen. Community Activist. Why do we want it all? Is it Fantasy, Social Media, Greed? Is it a illusion? What does “having it all” look like? Does this mean when dealing with grief, postpartum, career stress, heartbreak, sick children, sick parent, should we still should be able to DO IT ALL? It's common to see Black women being overlooked, overwhelmed or ignored or suffering in silence. Do you believe that women of color don't feel uncomfortable asking for help? Why or Why not? Do you feel comfortable Asking for help as a woman of color? What does that look like? These are only some of the questions we address in this episode. Let's get to it. Ain't Nothing Changed, We are still.... The podcast for women who persevere. Where we Talk Real Life with Real Women who have Overcame Real Issues and we are so happy to be back! Our guarantee is to provide a No Fluff zone . We encourage all women to Keep it 100, Give Grace & Live Authentically who they are called to be.
Bert and Jerm are joined by Marcus from GOAT Talk with Marcus as they recap both conference championship games and run through some potential storylines for the Rams-Bengals Super Bowl. Brian Flores SCORCHING the NFL landscape with a lawsuit that claims racism in the hiring process, Tom Brady retirement, and our sports Mt. Rushmore…STRAP IT ON folks!
Philly was without some of their best players and still managed to control the entire game. Our Offense without Gibson looked terrible, and now it's time to talk about really moving away from trying to build a top 5 defense. Brent and Dre talk about how much we truly need to upgrade the talent on the offensive side of the ball or if just upgrading QB would be enough. They get into a debate about how many teams in the NFL truly have a 1, and 2 when it comes to pass-catching duos. Then think about what the team can do this offseason to get better. And we still have a game against the Giants coming up on Sunday, thankfully the last game of the season.

Today's musing is a thought exercise that I find very productive in creating gratitude and immediate joy, even though it's a little counter-intuitive. What if your current situation (whatever you're dissatisfied with) never changed? Interestingly, I have found this to be the way out of not only the feeling of dissatisfaction, but out of dissatisfying situations themselves. Enjoy!
John Buffone (@JDBuffone) on Twitter joins the crew to talk about the Bears offseason, why you shouldn't blame Andy Dalton, the state of the Bears, and what to expect heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. Sermon: The “New” Year: What If Nothing Changed? Sermon Text: Job 1 and 2 Preacher: Thabiti Anyabwile January 3, 2021
With New Year’s fast approaching, we are all in store for our usual turning-of-the clock epiphany. Suddenly, everything changes and, at that moment, we just know. Except not. Epiphanies are cliches that keep us from doing the hard work of understanding how persuasion happens. The epiphany collapses the event that happens with our response to it as opposed to the rhetorical figure peripeteia, which marks an event as an opportunity for change. Joe Biden used both epiphany and peripeteia in his 2020 address at the Democratic National Convention. This episode will explore how these rhetorical strategies allowed Biden to navigate his thorny history with Civil Rights advocacy and what worked and didn’t work in Biden’s speech. Hard times in life sometimes become the biggest catalysts for change. World class Holistic Life Coach, Stian Nicolaysen, talks about how nursing his mother through cancer and then dealing with her death forced him into facing the issue in his own life. Coming face-to-face with mortality has been seen as a powerful tool in many cultures. Shamans, samurais, and Spartans alike have systematized it into practice. Have you faced the death of someone close to you? How did you deal with it, and the after effects? How did it change your life? Seinfeld is often referred to as the greatest television show of all time. Although this may be debated, there few who would argue that it holds a prominent place in television history and popular culture. In her new book, Seinfeldia: How a Show About Nothing Changed Everything (Simon and Schuster, 2016), author Jennifer Keishin Armstrong presents the history of Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld’s “silly little show” from its struggling beginnings to its life today beyond the screen. Keishin Armstrong brings readers behind-the-scenes of Seinfeld’s inception and into the world of a show which blurs the lines between television and reality. Well-researched and thoughtfully written, Seinfeldia introduces readers to the many levels of Seinfeld’s success. From David and Seinfeld’s unorthodox way of running a television show and the writers’ negotiating for their bit in a script to the myriad of ways Seinfeld is still relevant in todays popular culture, Seinfeldia presents a thorough and easy to read history of a show that has impacted television, culture, and fandom even almost 20 years after it first aired on network television. Those who fans will appreciate Keishin Armstrong’s commitment to showing all the details that went into such classic episodes as “The Junior Mint” and “The Contest” and those who are not may start to learn a little about why Seinfeld has such staying power. Rebekah Buchanan is an Assistant Professor of English at Western Illinois University. Her work examines the role of narrative–both analog and digital–in people’s lives. She is interested in how personal narratives produced in alternative spaces create sites that challenge traditionally accepted public narratives. She researches zines, zine writers and the influence of music subcultures and fandom on writers and narratives.
