JOIN SHERI HORN HASAN @KARMIC EVOLUTION DOT COM when today's “Karmic Evolution's Astrologically Speaking! This week's podcast delves into the deeper meaning of Uranus retrograde in Taurus from September 1, 2024, until January 30, 2025, and the need to recognize future potential that's actually possible, as opposed to an ideal that lacks practical application and thus practical manifestation.Like the sky god of Greek mythology who abhorred the look of his children and sought to stuff them back in their mother Gaia's womb until she rebelled and had Saturn overthrow him through castration, we cannot stop progress. But neither can we manifest ideologies that represent “perfection” without recognizing the reality of practical roadblocks. This Uranus retrograde period invites us to review what's actually obtainable in terms of the future and what is not. Ideological visions which lack a physical container will require some kind of adjustment if we wish to actually manifest our future plans. That this is true now becomes apparent when we recognize that the recent Virgo New Moon from September 2 asked us to plant seeds the remind us that “perfect is the enemy of the good,” and that we are “perfect in all our imperfections.” Acceptance of these facts help us tailor our expectations of making the world a “perfect” place into more reality-based future expectations.Meanwhile, Pluto's return to Capricorn from September 1 to November 19 reminds us of the last dying gasp of “business as usual” in terms of corporate interests trumping the rights of individual consumers. And, since Saturn stations direct in Pisces on November 15, the period between now and then urges us to get our act together so we may move forward with reality-based plans when Pluto direct returns to Aquarius for the long term on November 19.Join us for all of this and more Astro News You Can Use, including a deeper dive into current transits like the Mars' entrance into Cancer until November 3, the Sun's opposition to Saturn Rx September 6/7, Mercury's entrance into Virgo September 9, the September 10/11 first quarter monthly lunar square of the Sagittarius Moon to the Virgo Sun, & the Sun's square to Jupiter September 12.We take a look also at where this current Uranus retrograde falls in the charts of Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu who's efforts to try to win an unwinnable war—according to all of their military generals and other experts—have become like tilting at windmills, especially since it's left a wake of dead bodies behind who might otherwise have been saved.Join us at KARMIC EVOLUTION DOT COM—or any of your favorite podcast stations—for this deeper drive into Uranus retrograde and when is the infamous “October surprise” period leading up to the November 5 U.S. presidential election! How to clear up drama in an organization by getting out of verbal communication and self-reflecting. How to get into a place of neutrality by naming whatever comes your way as an unpreferred reality and changing the story. The importance of understanding and articulating your needs as a leader to avoid working on the wrong thing. The power of doing profound inner work to be able to lead with love and be a great leader and or team member. Standout Quotes: “Surrendering is as simple as naming whatever came your way as neutrally as possible as an unpreferred reality.”– Cy Wakeman [24:30] “I am convinced that very little needs to change in my world for my world to change; all of what needs to change is my thinking.”– Cy Wakeman [29:08] “It takes a lot of evolution to move through the world lovingly because you can't move through the world lovingly if you haven't done your inner work.”– Cy Wakeman [42:37] ⇢ Get full show notes and more information here: https://bit.ly/PodcastCyWakeman
This is the second in the Future Fisheries Management series that we are producing in collaboration with the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and the Center for Governance and Markets at the University of Pittsburgh. In this episode, Michael speaks with Bubba Cook, the Western and Central Pacific Tuna Programme Manager at the World Wildlife Fund, or WWF. Bubba's career has included multiple phases. He obtained his law degree from Lewis and Clark Law School, working for the U.S. National Marine Fisheries Service in Alaska where he led a team in the implementation of of a catch share, also known as an individual transferable quota, program for the North Pacific crab fishery made famous by the TV show “Deadliest Catch.” Bubba later joined WWf's Arctic Programme to support fisheries conservation and management efforts across the Bering Sea from the Russian Far East to Alaska's remote indigenous communities. In 2010, he joined the U.S. Peace Corps and servedin Fiji, where he supported several grassroots marine conservation projects over two years. Since 2012, Bubba has worked as the Western and Central Pacific Tuna Programme Manager for WWF out of Suva, Fiji, and Wellington, New Zealand, where he focuses on improving tuna fisheries management at a national and regional level in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean through policy improvements, market tools, and technological innovation. Michael and Bubba discuss the lessons that Bubba has learned at each step along the way, and Michael asks him about the recent WTO fishing subsidies agreement that were a central focus of the workshop where they met.
Winston Churchill remains one of the most revered figures of the twentieth century, his name a byword for courageous leadership. But the Churchill we know today is a mixture of history and myth, authored by the man himself. Today's guest, David Reynolds, author of “Mirrors of Greatness: Churchill and the Leaders Who Shaped Him,” re-evaluates Churchill's life by viewing it through the eyes of his allies and adversaries, even his own family, revealing Churchill's lifelong struggle to overcome his political failures and his evolving grasp of what “greatness” truly entailed. Through his dealings with Adolf Hitler and Neville Chamberlain, we follow Churchill's triumphant campaign against Nazi Germany. But we also see a Churchill whose misjudgments of allies and rivals like Roosevelt, Stalin, Gandhi, and Clement Attlee blinded him to the British Empire's waning dominance on the world stage and to the rising popularity of a postimperial, socialist vision of Great Britain at home.

Reality-Based Steps to Happiness and Success Host: Dr. Barry Morguelan In this episode, Dr. Barry Morguelan shares insights on achieving happiness and success in life by emphasizing the importance of being present in every moment, having agency, and power to maintain an enjoyable experience. He discusses the steps to ascend the mountain of enlightenment, reality-based steps that have been the subject of thousands of years of storytelling in different cultures. Dr. Barry talks about the yin-yang symbol and how everything in life is a vibration that our bodies can associate with, and emphasizes the importance of being awake, taking in reality, and being in a position to make better decisions. He encourages listeners to pursue things they like and enjoy the moment while being mindful of reality and taking precautions to avoid negative outcomes. The speaker concludes by urging listeners to choose the positive side of life's yin-yang and focus on making today the best day of their lives. Key Timestamps: [00:00:11] Introduction [00:06:08] The steps towards happiness [00:10:55] Pursuing things you like and enjoying the moment leads to happiness and creates an ebullience that comes up and creates a smile. [00:14:30] To achieve longevity, focus on making each day better than the last and strive to have the best day of your life today. [00:20:09] Denying reality can have negative consequences and it is important to acknowledge and prepare for potential negative outcomes. [00:29:19] The importance of being present in each moment, refueling in nature, and the accumulation of misinformation that leads to making wrong decisions. [00:35:22] The Matrix has always been a problem for humans throughout history. [00:41:08] The importance of being present and aware in each moment to avoid the Matrix's influence. [00:48:26] Recognizing that we need to wake up is the first step in overcoming the matrix. We have the choice to fill up with energy to have a surge and to get smarter, healthier, and achieve financial success. We must make good decisions that make us happy and pleased with ourselves and respect ourselves to avoid suffering for no reason. [00:52:27] The Matrix can be painful, get out of control, and lead to hysteria, but interacting with others with the goal of winning, being fair, and helping the community win can lead to positive outcomes. [01:01:04] Humans are part of the ecosystem and need to nurture themselves and the planet. [01:05:24] Fear is not necessary, and people need to learn to control their memories, which can keep replaying past traumas as if they were still happening. Guided breathing visualization can help us calm our minds and keep our sensors open. [01:08:28] We need to recognize the power of the human body and learn to handle the matrix with one finger. Our memories of fearful situations are just emotions that keep flying around and getting in the way. [01:12:43] We need to put ourselves in the rapid transformation of the operation technique, which is a special technique that allows us to pull in vibrations and get rid of the matrix. Guided breathing visualization helps us relax and enjoy the breath, which is the first step toward happiness. [01:25:33] Breathing exercise to release negative emotions and replace them with efficiency, effectiveness, and energy. Money Therapy: A better understanding of you and your money guided by Harpeth Wealth Partners
Welcome to "Money Therapy," a leading financial podcast that goes beyond the numbers to explore the emotional side of money. You have been standing in line for 35 minutes… and finally, it's your turn to take your seat at the front of the newest roller coaster in the park… You get striped in, you hear the clicks of the gears and off you go. You fight everything natural in your being to not grab the handles but instead you throw your hands up and enjoy the twists and turns… WHAT A THRILL!!! But that is a roller coaster and NOT HOW WE PREFER LIFE! Right? On the ride of life how much sleep do we lose we we veer at all off course of that straight line from “here I am today” to “where I want to be later”. Instead of realizing life, business, our finances, our kids development, our project, the new hobby, all will progress with ebbs and flows, ups and downs, even set backs and failures, we give credence to so called experts pretending they can draw a strait line that somehow circumvent life. AND WE BUY IT! That is the power of hope, fear, and a million other human emotions in our brains trying to make us feel 'safe'. In this episode, host Brandan Chasteen, CFP®, sits down with esteemed guest Bill Magill to challenge the traditional approach to financial planning and dive into the freedom that accompanies ‘embracing uncertainty'. In our quest for certainty, we often create a straight line between our current situation and our desired future. We meticulously calculate and plan, hoping that our predictions will accurately reflect reality. This is true for your life plans, business plans, but especially true in financial planning. However, as Brandan and Bill discuss, this straight-line approach is inherently flawed because it fails to acknowledge the unpredictability of life. Join us as we explore why it's essential to embrace the unknown and navigate the emotional rollercoaster that comes with financial planning. Instead of striving for precise perfection, we invite you to adopt a reality-based planning mindset. This means understanding that the straight line is merely a starting point—a rough sketch of our aspirations—and that it's okay not to have all the answers. In this thought-provoking conversation, they shed light on the fallacies of straight-line planning and offer practical insights for finding financial contentment amidst uncertainty. They emphasize the importance of being open to course corrections, narrowing the range of potential outcomes over time, and developing resilience in the face of unexpected challenges. Whether you're feeling stuck, anxious, or dissatisfied with your financial situation, this episode is a must-listen. Gain a fresh perspective on planning, learn how to manage fear and greed, and discover actionable strategies for fostering a healthy relationship with money. Join us on "Money Therapy" as we unpack the complexities of personal finance, address the normal human emotions surrounding money, and provide guidance to help you achieve financial well-being. Subscribe to the podcast on your favorite pod platform and be sure to tune in for this enlightening discussion. Hosted by Brandan Chasteen. Sarah Ichioka is an urbanist, strategist, curator, and writer currently based in Singapore. She leads Desire Lines, a strategic consultancy. Her latest book, Flourish: Design Paradigms for Our Planetary Emergency, co-authored with Michael Pawlyn, proposes a bold set of regenerative design principles for addressing environmental and social challenges. We talked to her about the book and related podcast, her wide-ranging career, and her abiding interest in cities, which was first piqued in her eighth grade year through the Future City competition. She and Pawlyn started working on the book when they perceived tension between evolution in the built environment community and growing awareness that such progress was not nearly sufficient for the necessary transformation. They sought to tangibly and meaningfully integrate perspectives from outside the built environment, such as Kate Raworth on (doughnut) economics. “We wanted to craft clear examples of the mindset shifts -- we identify five as new or rediscovered -- to move away from degenerative thinking,” Sarah says. ”We wanted to be direct about the need for a cultural shift, not just technological- or innovation-based change.” She says the book is the beginning of the conversation, which now includes collecting stories of regenerative practice. “The scale of the challenge can feel overwhelming. We need relationships where we can be ourselves and be honest … and then channel them constructively.”

Have you ever heard the saying, "Start before you're ready?" What does that mean to you? It could be that despite feeling uncomfortable, not fully prepared, or doubtful you own who you are right here, right now anyway. That you embrace all that you are without needing another credential. That you accept yourself, your weight, your financial status, or your professional title just as it is. Stop and think for a moment, what would that be like? Breathe into the unlimited possibilities of what it would feel like if you didn't hold yourself back. Because in most cases, you are the one programming the governor on your life. Integrity is one of my top values. In that, I felt like I needed and wanted to put this philosophy into practice so that I could be in alignment with what I teach. As you know, I've been the host of the Women Developing Brilliance® show since July 2019. It's been a wonderful experience to connect with powerful women around the globe. We've heard about what it takes to have a joy-filled life and a successful business. We've also discovered some behind-the-scenes bumps that have needed to be traversed along the way. Due to a health challenge, I've taken 4 months off from the show. Despite not having my full voice back, I'm choosing to start before I'm "ready." Today's episode was actually recorded before my surgery. I thought it was the perfect way to dip my toe back in. Most times, it only takes a small action to initiate momentum. Once we experience some movement, it opens up the door to flow. So here we go! In this interview, you will hear answers to: ⚡️ Is it really possible to choose our own reality? ⚡️ How can we know what soul alignment really is? ⚡️ What's the biggest mistake people make when it comes to human development? ⚡️ What are a couple of ways that we can feel more harmonious and centered? ⚡️ What will happen as we enter deeper into the Age of Aquarius? Are you interested in these answers? If so, you will love this episode! Episode Mention: Free 12-minute visualization; Reclaim Your Power

Bo reflects on the new movie "Prey" **NO SPOILERS** a prequel to the Predator franchise.
The Sermon on the Mount is loaded with "heavenly things" - concepts beyond the imaginations of selfish, earthy men. Pearls of wisdom. Secrets to a good life. Don't move on too quickly. The Scriptures never mention a judgment day based on beliefs; Jesus cares what we do. Actions matter. Our relationship to our fellowman is VERY important to God; He says, "how you treat them, is how you treat me." *** Chapter 19: The Sermon on the Mount ...Judge not and you will not be judged: condemn not, and you will not be condemned: forgive, and you will be forgiven. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged: and with what measure you mete, it will be measured to you again. And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into the ditch? And why do you behold the speck that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how wilt you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull the speck out of your eye; and perceive not the beam in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then will you see clearly to pull the speck out of your brother's eye. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened unto you: For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it will be opened. Give, and it will be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it will be measured to you again. What man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do even so to them Likewise: for this is the law and the prophets. Enter in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in there. Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord: but every one that is perfect will be as his master. For every tree is known by his own fruit. You will know them by their fruits. Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit; neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits you will know them. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say? Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have cast out devils? And in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. Therefore whoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will shew you who he is like, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock....

I have become more and more fascinated with this idea of being a bridge as a leader. The bridge can first be taken personally when you are asked to evolve or step up in your career. The bridge can be in moments when you are able to take the energy away from whey we can't and get it refocused on how we could. Many times the bridge can be where you act as a connector between two mindsets to bring compassion to either side that may be judging the other and not helping. In your career, you will face many of these bridge moments. Some will feel like you are actually crossing a milestone or a physical bridge into a new identity. Most others, will involve you bridge-building in the moment with your teams, in meetings or in one-on-one conversations.I really think you're going to love this one and I'd love to hear the places you are seeing these 'being a bridge' moments coming up and how you are taking them or avoiding them. Awareness is 90% of the battle with this one.WANT TO MASTER THE CORE TOOLS AND IDEAS TO DITCH THE DRAMA AT WORK AND COACH YOUR TEAMS TO GREATNESS EACH DAY?Buy my No Ego: The Reality of Peace, Happiness and Great Results Virtual Course. And also, be sure to pass this along to your teams to be able to discuss. Here's the blog that inspired today's podcast below:Title: The BridgeThere is a nudge in everyone's career where you can do what I call:- Take the bridge- Avoid the bridgeor- Choose to become the bridgeAvoiding the bridge means you stay where you are. You skip the personal evolution opportunities in your career often times fueling drama and sticking with those that find "joy" by being disengaged at work. It becomes the all-too-common 'us vs. them' situation.'Us' ends up being people that think like you and 'them' being the decision-makers that just don't consult you in the organization you work for. You bond with this group on one side of the bridge.Across the bridge is a group that has chosen a different approach. They are all-in committed to the company they work for. This group is trying to make a difference each day with the resources they have even in spite of challenging circumstances. This side of the bridge is where visionaries get together and talk about what we are trying to create for those they serve through their organization and how they can get there. Each side of the bridge actually feels like indigestion to the other side. The same discussions, energy and work environment aren't preferred by these two groups. So the question becomes - which side leads to more happiness and results in the long term? This is a personal choice for all of us. My invitation is to choose wisely. Then, there is a select group that has the power to act as a bridge themselves. This is the magic of a true Reality-Based leader. They can seemingly live with a foot on both sides at the same time if needed, without judgment of either side. This person is a mindset-shifter and energy manager. One that can act as a bridge doesn't people-please to fit in on either side. They understand that, as a bridge, they exist to gently ensure our visionary, high-accountables in our organization don't get righteous and judgmental of the other side. Simultaneously, they offer those on the side of the bridge choosing disengagement and halted evolution plenty of calls to greatness and invitations to consider a mindset 'how we could' given the circumstances we may be facing. Many are unaware that 'the bridge' exists as a role to play and a valuable one at that. It's easier to pick a side and represent it and disconnect from the other. "I'm the highly accountable one, they're not" or "Look at those over-achievers over there."Many stuck in disengagement and resistance will not take the bridge to the other side. Whether it is fear of losing an identity or the camaraderie they've built with similar mindsets on that side. The lesson for all of us is you can only work with the willing. So notice which side of the bridge you are consistently on at the moment. Is disengagement in your current work situation calling you to consider testing the other side - even for a small period of time? And for those of you who've been on this journey with me for a while that are now all-in and highly-accountable, practicing drama diffusing and energy management each day - it is time to step into the role of the bridge. Wholeheartedly. We could all use more bridges out there.-Alex

"Reality ... what a concept," said Robin Williams. The Republican Party doesn't really grasp that concept these days, so let's instead go back to the days in which a genre-defying, crowd-surfing, guitar-shredding, horn-blaring band named Fishbone taught us a few lessons on the topic. Economic theories often inform policy choices, but events can call into question these same theories. In this episode of EconoFact Chats, John Cassidy, Staff Writer for The New Yorker joins Michael Klein to discuss how policies based on the advantages of unfettered free markets were challenged by the 2008 financial and economic crisis. John also discusses other instances of challenges to theories; for example how evidence has given rise to behavioral economics, and the role of psychology and information to guide policy. John is the author of How Markets Fail: The Logic of Economic Calamities and Dot.Con: How America Lost Its Mind and Money in the Internet Era.

We have just co-authored a paper with two other researchers and it examines the big picture of safety science. We don't usually like to plug ourselves, but we're very excited about this particular accomplishment. We use his paper, A Manifesto for Reality-Based Safety Science, to frame our discussion.Topics:Why practitioners shouldn't tune out this podcast.Evidence-based medicine as a reform movement.Studying work, not accidents.Investigate and theorize before measuring. The lag in safety science.Forecasting theories. How safety knowledge is not fixed.Quotes:“There was a strong perception that there was a lot of evidence about what worked and didn't work, that wasn't making its way into practice.”“When you study an accident, all of the analysis that you do is necessarily driven by counterfactual reasoning and hindsight bias.” “If the researchers are influencing it, if the researchers are controlling it, if the researchers are doing it, it stops being a case study and it becomes action research…” Resources:Feedback@safetyofwork.com

The Reality-Based Leadership philosophy really resonates for so many people. It reveals some universal truths and actions steps to start living a drama-free life both at work and at home. However, the ego and the human condition can play tricks on us and often causes some common challenges when first starting to try out the techniques and ideas. Be aware of these as you begin your journey! I feel this is one of the most important episodes I've created to date because if you are starting to believe that you "get it" and others don't when it comes to ditching the drama, you are actually being introduced to the next evolution of your ego that returns you back to judging and not helping. That ego is so sophisticated. This episode is meant to streamline you through the next phase of development as you are practicing the Reality-Based Leadership philosophy and feeling what it is like to have less drama in your life. This will help you sustain that momentum so far! Understanding these 5+ common mistakes that people run into once becoming fans and practitioners of the philosophy will help you jump the next level of drama and emotional expensiveness you can get into. So give these some good thought, attention and self-reflection as you continue your learning. If you have any feedback or questions let's continue the discussion at any of the places below: Twitter Instagram Facebook For more of my videos and behind-the-scenes footage of my keynotes and speaking engagements check out my YouTube Channel. I've noticed that my entire life people have given me varied advice and quotes about fear and how to overcome it. In saying that, I was often frustrated at the lack of practical tips to overcome these feelings of fear in the moment. This idea of fear was something I just couldn't shut off by snapping my fingers until I discovered the Reality-Based philosophy. In this episode, I give you some practical and simple strategies (that will ACTUALLY work) to start carving away that those feelings of fear to help you reduce it or redirect it into productive energy! I have often been so frustrated by some of the advice that I've read/learned/heard about overcoming fear in my life. Many say things like "success is on the other side of fear" and "once you conquer your fears, you take control of your life" and "all that you are looking for is on the other side of fear." While I tried to take those quotes to heart, I found myself consistently without a practical tool or technique in some of the most fearful moments of my life and career. I felt stuck to the extent that I just kind of had to deal with the feeling of fear that was causing me anxiety. If you've ever been in that place where you completely understand that fear is something you have to navigate, but you feel without a skillset or practical tool to redirect or calm that energy then you are not alone. In this episode, I share some of our research and beliefs about fear and ways in which you can start seeing this type of energy differently. Through repeated use of our proven techniques I have found that I am able to quickly recognize when fear is playing it's game on me and by jumping into one of our better mental processes. Fear is just a flavor of drama caused by our human condition that hasn't been filtered through a good mental process. By learning the good mental processes and tools in this episode you will find yourself better equipped to carve away the drama that fear causes to be better able to conserve that energy and put it towards actions that will lead to more impact and happiness. Thank you for checking out the episode and I cannot wait to hear your thoughts! Loved being able to get this one out to you guys. Let's keep ditching the drama. - AD
