How familiar are you with your overall metabolic health? Metabolic health is essentially your body's ability to make energy from the food that you eat and support optimal organ function. It starts with your metabolism, which is responsible for breaking down your foods and creating energy, rather than storing it as fat. But, you don't have to have diabetes or be overweight to have poor metabolic health (as I discovered). You could be in your mid 30's and be a normal weight, and still consistently experience blood sugar spikes throughout the day from lifestyle, diet, or other factors. Here are some symptoms that can be signs of poor metabolic health: Low energyErratic appetite Unstable moodJoint or muscle pain Poor sleep Inability to lose stubborn weightRegardless if weight loss is a goal or yours or not, this episode is a must if you are not familiar with your own metabolic health. Poor metabolic health is linked to 90% of all prevalent diseases today.Topics discussed: How stress affects blood sugarWhy you need to care about your metabolic healthHow to test your metabolic health with simple blood workSymptoms of poor Metabolic HealthWhy fasting can still lead to high blood sugarThe dangers of low-carb diets as it relates to blood sugar + muscle lossHow insulin sensitivity can cause Type 2 Diabetes even in thin peopleWhy weight loss always has a blood sugar component Tips for optimizing your blood sugarNew to learning about Blood Sugar? I explain the brain areas that control our desire to eat, and our desire to stop eating. I discuss a hormone we all can make that is regulated by UV-rays from sunlight that reduces our appetite. I also explain that when we eat controls our appetite and not the other way around (and how to leverage that fact). I describe how we are basically always eating until we reach a threshold level of fatty acids and amino acids in our gut and the factors that can alter that signaling and make us eat far more than we need. I also explain how insulin, glucose and glucagon work, why cholesterol is so key for ovary, adrenal, liver and testes function and how the ketogenic diet impacts glucose and thyroid levels. As always, I describe many tools: specific supplements, prescription compounds, specific types (and timing) of exercise to regulate hormones, specific timing and types of eating, ways to reduce sugar cravings by triggering release of the hormone CCK, and more. Note: A future episode will cover Thyroid hormone. Also, I mis-spoke when explaining POMC neurons. I said “P-M-O-C” but should have said “POMC”. Apologies. The name I gave for what POMC is, however, was correct: "proopiomelanocortin". Free Weight Loss Resources: https://www.bsbtribe.com/resourcesClean Keto Reset: https://eatbefitexplore.com/clean-keto-reset/In today's episode, I talk about the fourth secret to losing the weight you want without gaining it back; eating Clean, Real Food or Clean Keto. You can call this Clean Keto, Whole 30, low carb or paleo, it doesn't matter. I don't want to use diet labels because they are irrelevant, what is important is the food you are putting inside your body. One of two things happens every time you eat; You're healing your bodyYou're feeding disease (sooner or later, it will creep up)The reason why I teach my clients to eat clean keto is that it's the best approach when it comes to supporting all of the other secrets I have talked about.Eating Clean Keto supports your hormones, especially insulin. It helps cortisol and thyroid as well. Eating Clean Keto is a great way to regulate and balance your gutEating Clean keto helps you get rid of sugar and carb cravings so it's easier for you to reprogram those brain habits...Here is what eating “Clean Keto" is:Eating whole, real foods Choosing organic, grass-fed, free-range, non-GMO foods Avoiding DairyEliminating sweetenersNo Processed foodsNo artificial ingredientsAvoiding nuts or eating them in very small amountsAvoiding alcoholEssentially, the point of Clean Keto is to eat real food and quite frankly, this is the original way of eating Keto. What I noticed when I switched to Clean Keto Eating.:All of my inflammation went away. When I woke up in the morning, my rings weren't tight, and my face wasn't swollenMy stomach looked and felt flat the whole time. Now, mind you, I had two babies, so I don't have washboard abs, but during Clean Keto, my stomach looked and felt so flatI started having so much more energy than I used to. The increased energy was immense for me because I have a one-year-old who still gets up at night sometimes, so I don't get as much sleep as my body needs.Overall, I felt better, my moods were more stable, and I was less anxiousMy hair started to get thicker. I am not kidding you, my hair has gotten so thin since after having my second baby but I noticed after this challenge that it stopped falling out as muchMy sleep improvedI no longer had cravings for sugarThe point isn't about tracking macros or counting calories. It's about eating Real Food First. When you are ready to commit to it for a month, I invite you to pick up a copy of the Clean Keto Reset. Its' a 4week clean keto reboot that will help you reset your weight loss and start healing your body from the inside out. Subscribe & Review in iTunesAre you subscribed to the Fit Moms Squad Podcast?
