In this episode we follow the money closely to see where the trail of corruption goes. Shawn Taylor, a decorated retired police officer and patriot based in Nashville Tennessee has been using a special software the United States uses to track terrorists like ISIS. What he has uncovered is damning evidence against our politicians, and people in power. From drug sales, mortgage loan fraud, and illegal voting campaign contributions. We follow the money and it leads to a big web of corruption in every part of society. Maricopa County corruption in Arizona is directly tied to the corruption in Tennessee. What is revealed is shocking. We shine a light on specific corrupt politicians and how they directly play a part in the corruption like Al Gore, Bob Corker, and Barack Obama. See how the dots connect and we reveal the insidiousness of the recent Tennessee shootings of March 2023. This is a deep dive into the corruption behind the scenes and how it all connects, this extremely revealing episode you don't want to miss! “The American people want serious people to solve serious challenges,“ declares former Texas Congressman Will B. Hurd in this season finale on the U.S. House of Representatives. “That's the lesson we should take away from 2022.” But he's quick to add, “I don't think that lesson is going to be implemented in this new congress.” Hurd then dissects the GOP factionalism at work in the contested house speaker's election and confirms that most House members are more interested in “messaging bills” than progress on tough, important issues like immigration and climate change. The Purple Principle covered the U.S. Senate in our previous episode with former centrist Senators Doug Jones and Bob Corker. This episode we turn to the unruly chamber next door in discussion with Will B. Hurd, former CIA officer, three-term Texas Congressman and author of American Reboot. “It appears to me that the fever has broken,” observes Bob Corker, former two-term GOP Senator from Tennessee. ”And there's gonna be a real serious debate on the Republican side of the aisle as to where the party is gonna go in 2024.” Fading GOP loyalty to former President Trump is the elephant in the room as we discuss the 2022 election, successes of the current Congress, and prospects for governance going forward. “Right now you got a lot of folks feeling their oats over in the House” says Doug Jones, the Democratic winner of an Alabama special election in 2017. “And they have promised a lot of oversight, a lot of investigations… Who the hell knows? On the Senate side, though, it will be steady as she goes.” Join the conversation with two centrist U.S. Senate alumni--Doug Jones, a storied civil rights litigator, and Bob Corker, who raised alarms during the Trump administration as Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee. Former Tennessee Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker join Governors Bredesen and Haslam to discuss the filibuster for a special episode, recorded live at the Baker Center in Knoxville in September 2022. Use of the filibuster, a rule that prevents key nominations and legislation from advancing without the support of 60 senators, is a long-standing practice of the United States Senate and Senators Corker and Alexander discuss how the filibuster works in practice, what they would change, and why it matters.

Global Nashville with Karl Dean A Conversation With Senator Bob Corker Join us for this important conversation with Senator Bob Corker who served in the Senate from 2009 to 20017. Corker served on the Foreign Relations Committee where he was Chairman from 2015-2019. The Tennessee World Affairs Council is proud to present one of Tennessee's and the country's most knowledgeable individuals on world affairs and the challenges the United States faces in the world. March 18, 2021 7:00-8:00 PM CT Senate Foreign Relations Committee Legacy: After becoming ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 2013 and taking the reins as chairman in 2015, Senator Corker made restoring the committee's power and status a top priority. To do so, he concentrated on three key goals: making the committee function again, focusing the committee's work on core American interests, and making the committee genuinely matter to the American people and the rest of the world. In his work to restore the committee's functionality as a driving force for U.S. foreign policy and an effective check on the executive branch, Corker led a number of successful initiatives. First State Department authorization bill in 14 years Led the winning battle to ensure Congress had a say in determining whether President Obama's Iran nuclear deal could move forward (he ultimately opposed the JCPOA) CAATSA sanctions (Russia, North Korea, Iran) Uncovered State's system for evaluating progress in combatting human trafficking was subject to political interference, took steps to ensure the practice was ended Critical oversight of United Nations, including the pervasive problem of sexual abuse and exploitation being committed by U.N. peacekeepers Kept committee about the fray of the political rancor pervading Washington (tried to start every debate in a bipartisan manner) Prevented Obama administration from sidestepping the Senate on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Got the Senate back on track in fulfilling its responsibility to review and ratify treaties Bob Corker is a successful businessman, former United States Senator, and was previously named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by TIME Magazine. Corker represented Tennesseans in the Senate from 2007-2018, where he served as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and became a national and global thought leader on fiscal, financial, and foreign policy issues. He was Tennessee's commissioner of finance and mayor of Chattanooga before being elected to the Senate, but he spent most of his life in business. At the age of 25, Corker started his own construction company with $8,000 in savings, eventually expanding operations to 18 states across the country. He later purchased two of the largest and oldest real estate holding companies in Chattanooga. He and his wife, Elizabeth, call Chattanooga home. Karl Dean was the sixth mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. He was elected on Sept. 11, 2007 and was re-elected on Aug. 4, 2011. He completed his second term in office on September 25, 2015. Dean first held public office when he was elected as Nashville's Public Defender in 1990, a post he was re-elected to in 1994 and 1998. He served as Metro Law Director from 1999 to January 2007, when he resigned to run for the office of mayor. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Vanderbilt. Dean was the Democratic Party nominee for Governor of Tennessee in 2018. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee World Affairs Council.

Donald Trump’s rose garden speech last week announcing his emergency declaration over the “crisis” at the southern border was rambling, incoherent, and unhinged: in short, everything we’ve come to expect from the 45th president of the United States. And yet journalists treat him like a normal politician instead of stating the obvious: Donald Trump is mentally unfit for the presidency. Almost half the country agrees, and plenty of republicans, including Sen. Bob Corker and Jeb Bush, have expressed concern about his mental stability. To discuss the situation and where we go from here, Mehdi Hasan is joined by Dr. Bandy X. Lee, a psychiatrist at the Yale School of Medicine, and by Trump’s biographer, David Cay Johnston.
In this episode of Grand Divisions, which was recorded Dec. 17, Corker weighs in on everything from the prospects of a shutdown of the federal government (he said it wasn't likely and would be brief), and his at-times rocky relationship with President Donald Trump. We also ask Corker about his future plans, which he says remain up in the air. In addition to the Corker interview, on this episode we talk about the latest news in Tennessee politics, including new additions to Gov.-elect Bill Lee's administration.

In this episode I address the stock market dive and the top fake news stories of 2018.News Picks:Here are the top fake news stories for 2018. President Trump has a shutdown message. Why is Bob Corker going after the president, again? The Democrats are all in on radical leftism for 2019. An alternative view on interest rates.
On today's episode of The Daily Daily Caller Podcast, we discuss President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the disastrous Iran deal, one of former President Barack Obama's few foreign policy "legacy" accomplishments. But it was an awful deal, giving Iran everything they wanted, including billions of dollars, on the promise they simply wait until years after Obama left office before building a nuclear bomb. They've been proven to be lying, but still liberals defend it in order to protect Obama's legacy. Isn't it weird how Obama was silent when the Iranian people attempted to rise up against their tyrannical government during the so-called "Arab Spring"? He turned on our allies quickly, turned on governments that were no threat to the U.S., but was silent until it was too late when it came to Iran to protect the prospect of getting his deal. Trump said no more and liberals, in unison, clutched their pearls and the Iranian Parliament greeted the news by burning printouts of the American flag and chanting "Death to America." Who wouldn't trust people like that? (And why do many Iranian politicians carry around lighters? It's almost like they want to be prepared just in case the opportunity to burn an American flag presents itself, or something.) But Obama brought this on himself. By refusing to treat this as a treaty, Obama made it easy for any future president to end the deal. So desperate for anything he could spin as a foreign policy accomplishment, he ripped the treaty clause out of the Constitution and turned it on its head, with the help of Senators Ben Cardin, Democrat from Maryland, and Bob Corker, Republican from Tennessee. It helped drive Corker out of the Senate, as it should have. The primaries last night did not live up to the hype, with none of them being the close races the media tried to hype them to be. Polling, it seems, hasn't really improved since the failures of the 2016 election. But it did give us one moment of levity, when Mitch McConnell made a joke that was actually funny. Don Blankenship, a guy who managed to have negative energy, called McConnell "Cocaine Mitch" in an ad. McConnell responded to Blankenship's distant third place finish by mocking that nickname. Nancy Pelosi is the gift that keeps on giving. At an event yesterday, the would-be-Democratic Speaker of the House proudly admitted she wants to raise taxes on Americans. The best thing Republicans have going for them is the Democratic Party's inability to act like sane people. They can't help themselves because they are desperate to appease their radical fringe. Pelosi's words should be run as a campaign ad from now til November. Finally, President Trump scored another foreign policy victory today when it was announced that Secretary of Stated Pompeo left meetings in North Korea with the three Americans who had been held in prisons there. It's yet another sign of good faith from Kim Jong-Un in the lead up to the meeting between him and President Trump. We can never know if it is sincere, but so far Trump has the despot making gestures unlike others his government has made in the past. Market Rallies on News of Passing Tax Cuts Act Late Friday night, or I guess early Saturday morning, the Senate passed its version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Last week the market, as it became more apparent that the Senate was in fact going to pass the bill, the market was rallying, and continued to rally and, in fact rallied again today. This was the first chance the market had to react to the Senate actually passing their version of the bill. DJIA Up, NASDAQ Down At one point today: the DJIA was at 24,534, that's the new record high. It had surrendered most, if not all the gains by the close. The Dow closed up only about 58 points - still, a new record close at 24,290. The NASDAQ, on the other hand was down as the correction, and maybe the beginning of a bear market (we don''t know yet). The correction in the technology sector continues. The NASDAQ was down 72 points today. Although, even when the Dow was up 250 points earlier this morning, the NASDAQ was still down about 50 points. So the tech stocks are weak. The S&P ended up negative on the day, although it hit a record high intra-day. Who Benefits? Part of the justification for the markets rallying is the tax cuts. If corporate taxes are going down, then your after tax earnings are going up, and since stocks' value is in theory a function of their after tax earnings, if your after tax earnings goes up, then all else being equal the stock is going to be more valuable. But clearly taxes that are not earning money will not benefit from lower taxes. Republicans Abandon Any Pretense of Smaller Government I wanted to get into an analysis of the Senate version of these tax cuts. There was one Republican senator who voted the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, of course all the Democrats voted against it, but Senator Bob Corker, who voted against it on the principle of adding to the debt. There were some interesting rumors floating around last week that in order to get Corker to vote yes, they considered adding an automatic trigger (implementation seemed crazy to me, and that's why they did not do it) that if the tax cuts did not pay for themselves or the deficit got bigger, an automatic tax increase would be implemented. What disturbed me the most about this, is: Why would there be automatic tax increases, why not automatic spending cuts? Why not say that if the tax cuts don't pay for themselves, we'll cut spending in order to pay for the tax cuts? If this doesn't tell you that the Republican party has completely abandoned any pretense of wanting smaller government, I don't know what does.

An abbreviated show today. Jeff Flake deciding not to run for re-election is not surprising. To win in 2018, Flake would have had to take positions in which he did not believe.
