If you want to hear more crazy stories, stay tuned and enjoy the episode!Where Do Truck Drivers Hook UpIn this episode, Steven asked the vital question, “Where do truck drivers hook up?” Now, thequestion stemmed from their conversation about “The Mile High Club.” That is, If someonehooks up on a plane and they call it “The Mile High Club,” what would they call it if someonehooked up on a bus? The three then agreed on “The Mile Marker Club,” but it eventuallyevolved into how you would even hook up on a bus, and in turn, on a truck. At first, they thoughttruck drivers would hook up on the tiny beds they would sleep on in the front of the truck. ButSteven proposed that truck drivers would hook up in the back, where the fruits and vegetablesare. Hence, while the three jokingly agreed on this idea, this also answers why your avocadosare sticky.Steven’s Toilet Paper GiveawayRight when COVID started, Steven did somewhat of a “giveaway.” He always wanted to buy abidet, and he did, which changed his life forever. But now, he had a bunch of toilet paper he nolonger needed. Hence, he put out a speaker on his balcony, played some music, andannounced that he was giving away his toilet paper. Then again, that wasn’t the best part of it.People started crowding up the place just to come and get toilet paper, and to Steven lookedlike a pigeon coming for bread crumbs. Even better, more people came by every day at around3 PM to, again, just get free toilet paper. Steven even described them as feral cats becausepeople would often end up fighting over the last rolls. In the end, it was a fun experience for bothSteven and his neighbors.About Steven BriggsSteven is an LA-based comedian, writer, and actor. When he hears the word ‘changemaker’, we imagine someone’s who’s predestined to take on some special role in following their inner calling. What Light has found through having dozens of these conversations is that changemakers are often just like us. Today’s guest is Steven Reed, a childhood friend of Light’s and someone who, back in 2019, became the 57th mayor of their hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. What's significant about that is that Mayor Reed was the first Black mayor in a town that was, for a brief period of time, the official capital of the confederacy. It was also the place where Dr. King launched the Montgomery Bus Boycott in the 1950s, the place where Rosa Parks was arrested 65 years ago for her participation, and the home of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, where Dr. King began his career as a minister and an activist. Montgomery has a very rich history and, for that reason, Mayor Reed's election made international headlines. In today's episode, listeners hear about Steven’s unlikely journey of leaving Montgomery for business pursuits, trying to do the traditional thing by becoming a financial analyst, his failures as an entrepreneur, and why he decided to become the change he wanted to see by running for office – first as a probate judge, even though he did not have a law degree, and then later as a mayor. Find out why most people think they cannot run for public office and how, believe it or not, you are more qualified than you think. Building excellence through Mind – Brain development. A couple of weeks ago we had on the show Steven Yellin talking about his book ‘Simplicity’ and discussing his concepts around ‘The Fluid Motion Factor’ It was a great show and we had a lot of good feedback. Some of Steven’s concepts around fluid motion seemed to really resonate with so many players. The idea that we don’t ‘lose’ our swing but we lose ACCESS to that swing. A huge influence on Steven Yellin’s work has been Dr Fred Travis. Fred is a neuroscientist and he was able to describe WHY from a brain perspective WHY Steven’s program would work. I managed to get then both together and we had a wonderful discussion about optimising your BRAIN PERFORMANCE. Fred explained in such a lucid way HOW and WHY we get in our own way in terms of performance. And more importantly how we can get out of our own way! We looked in even more detail as to why ACCEPTANCE of outcome could be THE most important mental game skill and what is happening in the brain when we are in a state of acceptance. Why having a daily practice is SO vitally important for long term development and improvement of your game. It was a wonderful conversation. Both men bring a true warmth and passion to their work. In today’s patient experience episode, Steven tells us about a therapeutic use of MDMA that you may not have heard of. A medical practitioner himself, Steven understands his own condition of IBS very well and what standard treatment is. However, when all these failed to produce results, Steven took the chance and set out to discover how he could better treat his condition. It was finally a decision to address the emotional and spiritual side of his health with his therapist that led Steven to try a guided MDMA experience. As a potent compound, MDMA can lead to significant psychological effects. Steven describes what it was like for him and how it led to significant improvements with his constant pain within a day of his initial experience. Steven explains how he found somebody to lead his journey. Because of legal issues, he had to use an underground network that his therapist pointed him towards. Steven shares how he vetted his guide and what he did to feel safe and supported throughout the experience.   In this episode: What compelled Steven to take his health into his own hands Addressing past trauma with the guided use of MDMA to get a handle on physical health Why Steven ultimately decided that MDMA was the right psychedelic for him What an experience of a “heroic dose” of MDMA is What to look for in someone to lead an MDMA journey The value of having an integration session after the experience The protocol Steven followed before during and after his MDMA journey   Quotes: “The human body, just because it’s not a machine, doesn’t make it any different. There’s a bunch of inputs and outputs. It’s kind of like electrical engineering systems.” [2:27] “For the first time in my life, I could feel bloating. It’s not that the bloating went away; it was that the pain associated with the bloating went away.” [10:06] “It’s a breakthrough therapy. Just about all nuts, especially cashews and peanuts. Zucchini, bell peppers, eggplant and pickles. And yes, even our dear friend the avocado. Each of these foods has one thing in common - a food component that today's podcast guest, , claims may responsible for some of the world's most pressing health issues, from obesity to heart disease. In Dr. Gundry's new book , he highlights exactly what that foood component is. Dr. Gundry is a renowned cardiologist, New York Times best-selling author and medical researcher. During his 40-year career in medicine, he has performed over 10,000 heart surgeries and developed multiple life-saving medical technologies, including patenting nine cardiac surgery devices. He is a cum laude graduate of Yale University with special honors in Human Biological and Social Evolution. After graduating Alpha Omega Alpha from the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, Dr. Gundry completed residencies in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery at the University of Michigan and served as a Clinical Associate at the National Institutes of Health. There, he invented devices that reverse the cell death seen in acute heart attacks; variations of these devices subsequently became the Gundry™ Retrograde Cardioplegia Cannula. It has become the world’s most widely used device of its kind to protect the heart from damage during open-heart surgery. After completing a fellowship in congenital heart surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, in London, Dr. Gundry was recruited as Professor and Chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center. There, he and his partner, Leonard Bailey, pioneered infant and pediatric heart transplantation. Together, they have performed more such transplants than any other surgeons in the world. During his tenure at Loma Linda, Dr. Gundry pioneered the field of xenotransplantation, the study of how the genes of one species react to the transplanted heart of a foreign species. He was one of the original twenty investigators of the first FDA-approved implantable left ventricular assist device (a kind of artificial heart). Dr. Gundry is also the inventor of the Gundry Ministernomy, the widely used minimally invasive approach to aortic- or mitral-valve repair, the Gundry Lateral Tunnel, a “living” tissue that can rebuild parts of the heart in children with severe congenital heart malformations; and the Skoosh™ venous cannula, the most widely used cannula in minimally invasive heart operations. One of the fathers of robotic surgery, as a consultant to Computer Motion (now Intuitive Surgical), Dr. Gundry received early FDA approval to use robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery for coronary artery-bypass and mitral-valve operations. He holds patents on devices for connecting blood vessels and coronary artery bypasses without sutures, as well as for repairing the mitral valve without the need for sutures or a heart-lung machine. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Artificial Internal Organs (ASIAO), and was a founding board member and treasurer of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS). He recently completed two successive elected terms as President of the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, Desert Division. Dr. Gundry has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, the American Surgical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the College of Chest Physicians. He is a member of numerous other surgical and medical societies. He is also the author of more than three hundred articles, chapters, and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals on surgical, immunology, genetic, nutrition, and lipid investigations. He has operated in more than thirty countries, including charitable missions to China, India, and Zimbabwe. Inspired by the stunning reversal of coronary artery disease in an “inoperable” patient, using a combination of dietary changes and nutriceutical supplements, in 2001, Dr. Gundry changed the path of his career. An obese, chronic “diet” failure himself, he adapted his undergraduate Yale University thesis to design a diet based on evolutionary genetic coding, which enabled him to reverse his own medical problems. In the process, he effortlessly lost 70 pounds. The equally astonishing results from following what he came to call Diet Evolution in several of his staff led Dr. Gundry to accept a position in Palm Springs where he could devote his efforts to disease reversal. No longer satisfied with repairing the damage of chronic diseases, since 2002, Dr. Gundry founded and has served as Medical Director of The International Heart and Lung Institute in Palm Springs, California, which serves patients referred from across the nation. After and short break, we are back with a new podcast covering everything from our haunted villa in Puglia to our first gay wedding in Italy at Villa Cappelli. Here are some of the topics we cover: How our first guest of the season, Bud and Pam, where actually fans of the podcast Out guests that week, Penelope and Whitney, who didn't know Bud and Pam, actually ended not only being from the same town but living very near each other. Both Bud and Whitney were former military and Bud actually uses to work for Whitney's cousin Why Steven thinks the villa is magic, bringing the right people to the villa whenever we need them, including: A wrist surgeon after I broke my wrist A chef who directly me to a program for our FDA inspection Elizabeth (from episode 15 here: http://www.livingvillacappelli.com/15/) connecting with her family And the one I forgot on the podcast, a trademark lawyer when we were having a trademark dispute with another another oil producer The study of grounding and why we think people sleep so well at the villa I didn't get into this too much on the episode, but did a bit of research after and will probably do a blog post on this later. Basically, the theory is we should come regularly into contact with the Earth, a “grounding” force. It supposed helps balance out and or negate all the positive electrons, i.e. free radicals, that are building up in our bodies. Those pesky free radicals again! With all the electromagnetic waves these days, we have a high amount of positive electrons built up in our bodies. The practice of earthing (or I've heard the term grounding used interchangeably)  involves touching the Earth’s surface energy by walking, sitting or sleeping outside in direct contact with the Earth or using a using something like this Earthing mat to help negate all those free radicals which supposedly reduces inflammation, stress, anxiety and depression. This may be one theory as to why folks sleep so well at Villa Cappelli. Not only are they surrounded by and in direct contact with nature during the day, but at night in the old rooms, they come more into contact with Earthing materials. The nice quiet country life probably doesn't hurt either. The reason we believe the villa is slightly haunted, mostly revolving a "ghost story" told by Paul's son Logan Paul wonders why people are afraid of ghosts, so Steven explains poltergeist The other magical moment this week at Villa Cappelli, our first gay wedding We walk you through the amazing day we had with the wedding The coolest cake topping you've ever seen Here are some pictures and videos from the wedding. At the ceremony  Exchanging the rings The courtyard food fest Another angle of the courtyard food fest The dinning room The happy couple at dinner As promised, here's a picture of orecchiette           And here's cavatelli         So that's our take on the magic of the villa with ghosts and gay weddings in Italy.  Did you like the pictures of the ceremony?  Any thoughts?  Just let us know in the comments!

Prepare for your mind to be blown by today's podcast guest. Mine certainly was. My guest is Steve Sisler, and today's episode, he tears me completely apart, absolutely amazes me as he "psychoanalyzes" me, and during the entire process, you're going to learn a ton about yourself and your behavior. If you've ever wanted to know what makes you tick... Exactly why you think the way you do... What drives you personally when you exercise or race... How you interact with people and relationships (and how you can make this work for or against you)... And why you behave the way you behave... This episode is a must-listen for you... Steve is author of the book: , a behavioral profiler and lead behavioral analyst at  He works with clients in more than 18 nations, gathering behavioral, emotional, and attitudinal information on individuals within corporate and personal settings. Then he develops strategies for leadership, teamwork, and entrepreneurial or career success. Steve is widely considered as the “go to” source for behavioral and attitudinal issues within the framework of both business and family (he's been doing this stuff since the shocking age of twelve!). He is considered a true anomaly within the world of behavioral analysis. During our fascinating discussion, you'll discover: -How Steven developed the crazy skill of being able to "read people" extremely accurately from the young age of twelve... -The one unique attitude Steven found me to possess - an attitude that only 2% of people on the face of the planet can match... -Why people perceive me to be aloof and arrogant based on my high level of no-nonsense, black-and-white thinking... -Why Steven observes that I could be either a very good assassin or a sniper... -How when I am in work mode I become a complete perfectionistic machine and check my emotions at the door... -Why I score very high on alternative ideas, unconventional thoughts and thinking outside-the-box... -The reason Steven thinks I'm not competitive, but rather simply an artist, discoverer and educator... -I don't compete and race and spend time in the gym because I'm competitive, but rather because I am, what Steven describes as a "body artist"... -Why I score extremely high on individualism, innovation, uniqueness, autonomy, freedom (and hate teleprompters)... -The reason I'm very comfortable not necessarily being the person in charge... -Why I am a rule-breaker and why I have a negative, cautious bias when it comes to following rules...... -The reason some people can perceive that I don't "care", and why I tend to care the most about people who are making an effort to help themselves... -What it means to have an itchy brain, and why some people will change direction very quickly in life and let go of non-effective ideas easily... -Why my score is crystal clear when it comes to how my choices affect those around me, and why it's extremely important to me that any decision I make not hurt anyone around me... -Why I'm extremely demanding and critical of myself... -The personality that makes me relentless, want to never give up, keep striving to get better and better, and have a perception nobody can stop me... -Why I'm very clear about who I am... -And much more! Steve is offering a significant discount on the exact behavioral analysis we do in this episode. Details below!   Resources: Steven's Full Behavioral Analysis -   Steven's Full Executive Summary (what I did and what we discuss in this episode) -   Below are my own results, which Steven and I discuss in this episode.   [embeddoc url="http://www.bengreenfieldfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Greenfield_Ben_Executive_Summary_-_General.pdf" download="all"]   [embeddoc url="http://www.bengreenfieldfitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Greenfield_Ben_Behavioral_Analysis_and_Motivators.pdf" download="all"]   Do you have questions, comments or feedback for me or Steven about behavioral analysis or anything else we discuss in today's episode?
