In this episode, Michelle discussed how she grew up in a dysfunctional family, and as a child and adolescent, she was always trying to figure it out and understanding why this is happening. She said it wasn't until she got into recovery from food addiction and codependency, did she get the principles for living that she didn't learn growing up, and this inspired her to become a therapist to help others. She explained that she defines codependency as over functioning in order to get the love, support and validation that you can't give to yourself. We discussed how the hyper vigilance of being aware of others can be a gift, but at the same time, it can lead to misinterpretation, worrying that if someone is upset, they're upset at me. We talked about boundaries, and how for many people with codependency they have a hard time saying no because it is threatening, and by pleasing the other, it's a way of seeking safety and love. She discusses how many people that come into therapy with codependency may not be realizing that they are struggling with codependency, but instead are wanting help fixing a relationship, and not realizing their part in it. She discusses how healing from codependency happens when the person starts befriending themselves and doing less. She talked about how often times, the therapist can't just point out that the person is doing too much, but instead asking if its working, and helping the client to see they are working so hard to please the other person, but this may only be leading to more anxiety and resentment. She explains that we have to be able to be with ourselves, and love ourselves, to be able to love others, otherwise, we are so afraid of losing the other or them not liking us, that we are scared to be without them and be with ourselves. She discusses how 12 step programs like Al-Anon and CoDA can be a very powerful resource for clients because when they tell their story over and over, they develop a stronger sense of self and realize, I wasn't bad, I'm not a bad person, I'm not alone, and I'm not defective. She talked about how the goal in recovery from codependency is being able to give without it hurting you. She explains that she encourages clients to take small steps, asking for their needs, stating their preferences, and that these are tests, seeing how the other person reacts. This gives information whether the other person is safe and should be in our inner circle, or we might realize that we can't be that vulnerable with them, can't be ourselves with them. She explains that it is important to be gentle with yourself and your clients as they are trying to change these codependent behaviors, because they're doing the best they can in breaking these pattern and oftentimes there is perfectionism wrapped up in codependency. Lastly, she talked about her psychoeducational groups called Beyond Codependency, which can help accelerate the process of recovery. Michelle Farris, LMFT is a psychotherapist, codependency expert, and anger management specialist with a passion for helping people break free from codependent patterns and manage emotions with confidence. She's been featured in several online publications and podcasts, known for her down-to-earth approach and deep expertise. Michelle empowers her clients to stop people-pleasing, trust themselves again, and build the healthy, connected relationships they've always wanted. Through her online courses and digital resources, she teaches practical tools for codependency recovery, emotional regulation, self-trust, and lasting relationship success. She teaches a 4 week class, Beyond Codependency, and has a website with free resources for therapists on codependency and anger.
7OH is a new drug that has showed itself to be highly addictive for many people, yet it's perfectly legal in most places, there's no regulation for it, and many people start on it with no idea of what they are getting into. We are seeing more and more clients show up at Windmill Wellness Ranch struggling with this, so we need to get the word out. Kira and Casey discuss all the ins and outs of 7OH and what we are doing to help further research about it.
Glenda grew up in a stable family but prolonged periods of hospitalisation in childhood along with a shy disposition led to low self-esteem. Glenda used alcohol, cannabis and other drugs to fit in socially and eventually sought treatment at the age of 27 for the difficulties this caused, including cannabis-induced psychosis. For more than 40 years Glenda has been a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and she is also a member of Al-Anon. In both fellowships she shares her experience, strength and hope with others as they face their common difficulties. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel When the world feels overwhelming—whether it's family struggles, the pain of watching a loved one in addiction, or the heaviness of our collective challenges—it's easy to believe that peace will come once everything “out there” finally settles down. But in Soul Recovery, we learn that waiting for the outside world to change keeps us trapped in fear and frustration. The real transformation begins when we turn inward. In this episode, I share how I've been navigating real-life challenges with my family, including my son's addiction, and how the Soul Recovery process reminds us that we are powerless over others—but never powerless within ourselves. When we shift our focus from control to compassion, from fear to love, we begin to find clarity, strength, and the ability to show up with grace in even the most difficult circumstances. Turning within isn't an escape from life—it's the way to live it more fully, with peace and sovereignty. This podcast is for educational purposes only and is not allied or representative of any organizations or religions, but is based on the opinions and experience of Rev. By age 15, Kristina had already been in treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, self-harm, and a suicide attempt. It took another 14 years for her to find lasting and contented sobriety in AA. Kristina's struggles with addiction, alcoholism, and mental illness began with a difficult childhood. Though raised in affluence, her childhood was marred by a myriad of family chaos and conflict. By age five, Kristina was already engaging in self-harm (cutting) and other behaviors to cope. By her adolescence, she had added alcohol and drugs to her escalating means of escape, and even attempted suicide. By 15, her parents had run out of conventional treatment approaches and put Kristina into a three-year program with other troubled youths. During that time, she first experienced AA meetings, albeit as a unwilling and reluctant attendee. Amazingly she stayed clean and sober for three years, though her ultimate plan to return to drugs and alcohol was fulfilled shortly thereafter. More failed attempts to help Kristina culminated in devastating crisis at age 22 when her boyfriend of two years suffered a fatal drug overdose. Crushed by the loss, she abruptly stopped using intravenous drugs. Instead, she turned solely to alcohol and cutting to deal with her grief and anxiety. Kristina's odyssey over the next seven years was fraught with additional attempts at treatment and even some progress amidst her functional alcoholism. But it was debilitating depression and hopelessness that paved her way to the bottom. At 29, with seemingly no other alternative than suicide, Kristina was finally ready to accept help. That meant in-patient medical help for her mental health issues, intensive outpatient treatment, and a new willingness to work a God-centered AA Program. At nearly 4 years of sobriety, Kristina's journey from the abyss to the center of AA is nothing short of a miracle. In addition to her arduous work in the Program to assure her own sobriety, her service work extends beyond AA into her professional life as a mental health therapist. It's been amazing to watch Kristina's rise from the depths of despair to the heights of true God-consciousness and reliance. Her story is an inspiration, especially to women of her generation who've struggled with alcoholism, substance abuse, and mental illness. In full disclosure, I've known of Kristina's struggles and successes, largely through a close friendship I've had with her father for many years. I'm grateful he never stopped believing in her. But it also took his very well-worked Al-Anon program to help him support her in many ways that benefited and blessed them both. His is an remarkable Al-Anon story I hope to share with you in a future show. But for now, please enjoy this episode of AA Recovery Interviews as we focus the next 65 minutes on an extraordinary woman whom I am honored to call my friend and AA sister, Kristina C. If you've enjoyed my AA Recovery Interviews series, have a listen to “Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered From Alcoholism”. This is the word-for-word, cover-to-cover reading of the First Edition of the Big Book, published in 1939. It's a comfortable, meaningful, and engaging way to listen to the Big Book anytime, anyplace. Have a free listen at Audible, Apple Books, or Amazon. I also invite you to check out my latest audio book, Lost Stories of the Big Book, 30 Original Stories Missing from the 3rd and 4th Editions of Alcoholics Anonymous. It's an engaging audiobook I narrated to bring these stories to life for AA members who've never seen them. These timeless testimonials were originally cut to make room for newer stories in the 3rd and 4th Editions. But their vitally important messages of hope are as meaningful today as when they were first published. Many listeners will hear these stories for the first time. Lost Stories of the Big Book is available on Audible, Amazon, and Apple Books.
Today we have Ty. She is 76 years old, lives in Bozeman, MT and she took her last drink on March 8th, 2008. This episode brought to you by: Better Help – 10% off of your first month #sponsored Café RE – THE social app for sober people. [04:21] Thoughts from Paul: Paul tells us that every time he goes into a retreat or event with RE, he asks the universe to send us a (safe) wildlife encounter. This past retreat in Bozeman was no different. This time, it showed up in the form of a bald eagle while we were spending time at the lake pavilion. After it flew in, it perched on a lone pine tree branch about 50 yards away from us where we admired it's beauty and Ty, an avid birder, shared some facts about the bald eagle with the group. Paul shared that while editing the interview he did with Ty, he noticed some background noise. Normally, he does his best to avoid this, but this time he welcomed it. You will hear in the background the sound of birds. He says it was if the universe sent the birds to support Ty. [08:45] Paul introduces Ty: Ty lives in Bozeman, MT with her husband Dan. She likes to hike (gently), watch birds and enjoys reading. She is technically retired but has been editing the RE podcast since episode 25. Ty grew up with an alcoholic father in Fort Worth, TX. Her mother did not allow alcohol in the house, so her father was gone a lot. Ty didn't drink much during high school due to the fear of her mother detecting it on her. After she graduated, Ty got married to her boyfriend. That marriage didn't last long because her husband was an alcoholic and became abusive. They divorced when she was 21. During that time Ty would go out with friends she worked with where they would drink together. She says her rebellion against her father came out in that time – it was the early 70's filled with drugs and rock and roll. Ty said she spiraled shortly after her dad died and went through a dark time. She sought help from the county health board and after they placed her on mood stabilizers, she started drinking less. At age 26, Ty went to university where she chose doing well in school over drinking and partying. A month after graduating college, Ty had a baby. Her daughter had a lot of health and developmental issues, so she became a full-time caregiver for her throughout her 30s. In her 40s, Ty met her current husband Dan, who does not drink. They moved to Bar Harbor, where Ty worked in the restaurant industry. This exposed her to fine wine, which she would enjoy at home after work, while her husband was sleeping. Ty says red flags began to show when she switched to vodka because it has less calories. She began to hide her bottles and drink in secret. Moderation for Ty was when she would quit drinking for Lent. One year she found that she wasn't able to which got her thinking more about her drinking. She was attending Al-Anon meetings but was interested in the literature for AA. After taking some quizzes to determine if she was an alcoholic, she started to believe she might be. The next morning while in church, Ty says she prayed: “I can't do this will you help me”. That evening she went to her first AA meeting where she introduced herself as an alcoholic. It was the first time she had said it to herself or anyone else. Ty says she burned the ships early on. Honesty and openness became very important to her. She knew she had to do the work and became comfortable asking her husband for support in various ways. AA has been a big part of Ty's recovery story since the beginning. She has witnessed a lot of growth and change in the recovery world since quitting. Joining RE opened up so much for her and she says her toolbox expanded in terms of resources and learning different things. Ty's parting piece of guidance: it's harder to get sober than it is to stay sober. Recovery Elevator You took the elevator down, you gotta take the stairs back up. We can do this. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel Have you ever caught yourself thinking, "I'm only as happy as my least happy child"? This seemingly loving sentiment actually reveals a profound codependent belief that makes us responsible for others' emotions while neglecting our own healing journey. As I discovered with my own family, no amount of fixing or controlling could make my unhappy child happy—that was his journey to walk. Only when I released my grip on controlling outcomes and turned inward did things begin to transform.Perfectionism, helping behaviors, and our need to "fix" others often masquerade as positive traits—but they're actually sneaky forms of codependency that keep us trapped in cycles of control. When we obsess over making everything perfect or rush to save others from their emotions, we're not being helpful—we're attempting to manage our own discomfort and create safety through control. The 9-Step Soul Recovery Process offers a spiritual path out of these patterns. Through this process, we replace the drive to fix others with self-compassion, embrace new beliefs about our inherent worthiness, and shift our lens from fear to love. This podcast is for educational purposes only and is not allied or representative of any organizations or religions, but is based on the opinions and experience of Rev. In this reaction video, I review a brief discussion between Jordan Peterson and Theo Von about the 12 steps for addiction recovery. I break down the psychology behind why AA works, the "God problem" that stops many people from trying AA, and I share why Step 4 was the most transformative experience of his life. Have an episode suggestion? Text us!In this episode of Paige's Perspective, I dig into a powerful comment from one of our listeners: “As the spouse, I'm basically told to become an expert on their addiction, yet they don't have to become an expert on my trauma.” This one line exposes the imbalance in the recovery world. Spouses are often told to go to Al-Anon, read the Big Book, and learn about addiction, but no one tells them to study their own trauma caused by their partner or expect their partner to understand the harm they've caused.I'll share why this matters so deeply, how living in chaos rewires your brain and body, and why hyper-vigilance, self-doubt, panic, and physical symptoms are not “character defects”... they're trauma responses. We'll also explore different forms of betrayal trauma beyond lying and cheating, from financial secrecy to emotional neglect, broken promises, safety violations, and more. This episode is about reclaiming the focus: your trauma, your healing, and your right to be understood. Because recovery isn't just about learning their dopamine pathways; it's about acknowledging how their choices have impacted you and giving yourself permission to heal.Find video clips and full length video from this episode on YouTube and our other social media pages! On the web:www.twfo.comSupport the Show:Buy Us a Coffee!Online Course: www.independentlystrong.comUse code WHEELIES75 for 75% off the entire course!Soberlink Device:www.soberlink.com/wheelsCheck out our blog:https://twfo.com/blogFollow us on TikTok:https://tiktok.com/@twfo_coupleFollow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/twfo_couple/Follow us on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TWFOCoupleFollow us on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@twfo_coupleFind Taylor Counseling Group:https://taylorcounselinggroup.com/Donate to Counseling for the Future Foundation:Donate Here
This episode is a repeat. It was originally aired on 7 December 2023.Dan, a member of Al-Anon, grew up in a household in which another person's drinking was out of control. One of his parents was safe and nurturing during the day but in the evenings became a more dangerous presence. This inconsistency resulted in Dan feeling confused about how to trust people and eventually angry and distant from his parents. At 15 he went to Alateen where he found it healing to be in the company of other teenagers who understood his situation, did not judge and spoke authetically about their own experiences. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel In this episode of the Recover Your Soul Podcast, we explore one of the most important and tender parts of the Soul Recovery journey—making peace with painful memories. When we hold on to resentment, we keep ourselves tied to the very moments that wounded us, replaying them again and again in our minds and bodies. True freedom comes not from erasing the past or pretending it didn't happen, but from meeting those memories with compassion, grace, and forgiveness—first for ourselves, and then, when we're ready, for others. As I continue to work on my own memoir, I've been revisiting some of the most difficult years of my life, and it has reminded me that every story, even the painful ones, can be seen through a new lens when we invite in spiritual awakening and Soul Recovery. This is not about minimizing the harm or excusing others—it's about choosing to release the grip of resentment so we can live fully in the present, whole and authentic. Join me as we talk honestly about how to move from grievance to peace, and how the 9-Step Soul Recovery Process offers a path to let go of what was and step into the freedom of who you truly are.I mention Mattie who is helping me in writing this book as a collaborator. “I radiate the hope of the Holy Spirit, instead of the fear of condemnation.” Rose Folsom, a Lay Dominican, received God's transformative healing. After growing up in a home affected by alcoholism, Rose dated a young man who struggled with drug and alcohol addiction. In her journal, Rose compared herself to a “shattered mirror.” She experienced intense anxiety and looked for others' approval to build her sense of identity. When Rose started attending Al-Anon, she began to experience the healing and transformation she longed for. “Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else's drinking.” Rose was gifted with the blessings of conversion and new life. This episode brought to you by: Better Help – 10% off of your first month #sponsored Exact Nature – use code RE20 to save 20% off of your order October 2026 we have a new retreat we have yet to do. This is an in-person alcohol-free ukulele retreat taking place in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. There will be ukulele instruction in the mornings and Spanish immersion courses in the afternoon. [02:01] Thoughts from Paul: Addiction is disconnecting with the self and your fellow humans. More sobriety is connection with the self, your fellow humans and more. “I” equals illness, “we” equals wellness. Quitting drinking is a perfect circle. Your drinking crisis is an opportunity for someone to help. Phrased with 12 step verbiage, your first step is someone else's 12th step. And when you find your footing, you can then assist someone else in their drinking crisis. When the soul is hurting, the healing only happens when you're not alone. And speaking of being alone, listeners, you are not alone. You are not the only one who struggles with alcohol. You, along with the other listeners, are seeking not only sobriety but seeking a deeper connection with all. Seeking answers that the bottle can't deliver. You are in the right place. [07:37] Paul introduces Amy: Amy is 41 years old and lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband and a three-year-old son. Amy says she is a theater nerd and does improv comedy for fun. Amy grew up in the southwest side of Chicago where she says her father was an alcoholic. She has memories of being a child at AA and Al-Anon meetings with her parents as well as memories of her father taking her to bars when they would tell her mother they were somewhere else. Amy had her first drink when she was 15 while going to a concert with older teens. There was a bottle passed around the group and they all got drunk. Later that night she was found in the field of the concert venue by paramedics and taken to the hospital to have her stomach pumped. She began to live a double life throughout high school and college. Amy saw that if she got good grades and joined all of the clubs, she would get praise and recognition. On the flip side she would drink very hard, and it wasn't uncommon for her to get alcohol poisoning. Only after going to grad school in New York was Amy able to calm down a bit. After COVID, Amy and her husband were doing IVF. Amy says she didn't drink much at this point, but after having the baby, she suffered from postpartum anxiety which led her to daily drinking as a tool to cope with it. Over time she would begin to try moderation but limiting herself to two drinks was difficult and led to binges. Amy's last bender was at a holiday work party. The next day she found herself hungover and asked herself how her drinking was any better than her father's was when she was younger. She knew that she may be heading down a dangerous path, so Amy decided to call the local AA helpline. Amy began going to AA meetings and found a sponsor. She shares that her mother was a great support because of her experience with Al-Anon and she understood what Amy was going through. One of the best things for Amy was burning the ships and gaining accountability. Even after 18 months, Amy admits there is white knuckling at times. She realizes that after 25 years of drinking, it doesn't all heal within 18 months, but she is grateful to be where she is and says that since getting sober, she hasn't missed a day of her son's life. Amy's parting piece of guidance: everything that she was looking for while getting drunk can be found in recovery and she found it in Café RE and AA. Take what works and leave the rest. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel This week, I'm sharing something special with the whole Recover Your Soul community — an episode that originally aired on the Bonus Podcast back in June. The Bonus Podcast is where we take a deeper dive into Soul Recovery, with spiritual book studies, guest conversations, and real-life reflections inspired by Al-Anon, metaphysics, and the healing journey within. If you've never tuned in, I wanted you to experience the richness of these episodes for yourself — and if you love it, you can join us as a free or paid member on Patreon, or as an Apple Podcast subscriber, where there are over 200 bonus episodes waiting for you.In this episode, we explore “Love and Surrender” — a powerful Al-Anon reading that speaks to the moment we finally release the day-to-day pain and guilt of trying to fix someone else's life. Through the lens of Soul Recovery, we talk about letting go of the illusion of control, setting healthy boundaries, and choosing our own healing over managing another person's journey. Whether it's with a child, spouse, or someone else you love, this is about opening our hearts to unconditional love — the kind that allows others to have their own experiences, while we stay grounded in our own spiritual connection and well-being.This is the work of Soul Recovery: moving from enmeshment and exhaustion into compassion, clarity, and freedom. I hope you'll listen, let it sink in, and fThe Soul Recovery FREE Zoom Support Group will meet on September 8th due to Labor Day, and there is still time to register for the upcoming in-person retreat in Asheville NC September 13-14th. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel In this week's episode, I sit with a heartfelt question from our community—how do we hold someone accountable without slipping into control and codependence?—and we look honestly at what true support really is, including whether asking a spouse to “prove” sobriety crosses a line; from a Soul Recovery perspective, we remember that we are powerless over other people and powerful within ourselves, so instead of policing or shaming, we practice loving detachment, clear boundaries, and compassionate curiosity—asking, “What would truly support you?” while staying anchored in our own healing. The hard truth is we cannot make anyone recover, and when we try to manage their journey it often comes from our own fear and wounds—which means it's an invitation back to our inner work. This episode begins a new two-part experiment, and on Friday's Bonus podcast by subscription, I'll take you deeper, applying the 9-Step Soul Recovery Process to dig deeper in the 'how to' on this topic.Listen to the Bonus Friday Podcast as an Apple Podcast subscriber or for FREE the first week as a Free Patreon Member- this is a great way to support the Recover Your Soul Community AND get accessWant to join the Recovery Your Soul community? Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel So many of us have spent our lives trying to earn love, approval, and belonging by shape-shifting into what we think others need us to be. We become people-pleasers, fixers, and emotional caretakers—losing ourselves in the process. In this episode of the Recover Your Soul Podcast, we explore what it really means to break free from codependency and control, and how the Soul Recovery process helps us come back to our true, authentic selves. You'll learn how to recognize the subtle ways we abandon ourselves in an attempt to be accepted, and how releasing these old patterns allows for deeper peace, healthier boundaries, and more fulfilling relationships. This isn't about cutting people off or rejecting connection—it's about reclaiming your energy, staying in your body, and honoring your own truth without needing to fix or manage anyone else. Soul Recovery teaches us that healing isn't about becoming someone new—it's about remembering who you already are. If you're ready to stop shape-shifting and start showing up as the real you, this episode offers encouragement, tools, and a path toward spiritual freedom.Want to join the Recovery Your Soul community? Send one way text to Rev Rachel If you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or completely drained from trying to hold everything, and everyone together I get it, I was once there too. The truth is, constantly fixing, managing, and rescuing those around us doesn't bring peace... it creates more suffering. In this episode, I share what I've learned on my own Soul Recovery path about how the compulsion to help and control stems from old patterns, and how letting go has been the greatest act of love—not just for myself, but for those I care about. We dive into the deeper truth that your healing begins the moment you stop turning your energy outward and begin focusing inward. We explore what it means to detach with love, to let others walk their own journey, and to reclaim your energy for your own transformation.Soul Recovery isn't about abandoning others—it's about releasing the illusion that their healing is your responsibility. It's about becoming a compassionate presence without losing yourself. You don't have to fix everything. You don't have to hold it all together. Come back to your center. Heal yourself. That is the most powerful gift you can offer the world.Want to join the Recovery Your Soul community? Join the FREE Soul Recovery Support Group the 1st Monday of every month from 6-7PM Mountain Time. Send one way text to Rev Rachel When someone you love is struggling—emotionally, mentally, or through addiction—it's natural to want to help, to fix, to make things better. But what happens when trying to save them begins to cost you your own peace? This episode of the Recover Your Soul Podcast explores the powerful Soul Recovery principle of detaching without abandoning yourself. Being okay when others aren't doesn't mean disconnecting from compassion or ignoring reality—it means turning inward, releasing control, and choosing to care for your own well-being first. The Soul Recovery Process invites us to see “what is” with clarity and neutrality, to stop trying to shape reality into what we wish it could be, and to instead respond from a place of inner strength and spiritual alignment. This episode offers support for anyone caught in the tension of love and suffering, with guidance on how to recognize your own needs, trust your emotions as sacred messengers, and make decisions that honor your wholeness. Through Soul Recovery, you can begin to release old patterns of codependence, reconnect with your Higher Self, and remember that your healing is not only possible—it's the most loving choice you can make, for everyone involved. This podcast is for educational purposes only and is not allied or representative of any organizations or religions, but is based on the opinions and experience of Rev. Send one way text to Rev Rachel Before Soul Recovery, I didn't even know what my yes or no was—let alone how to honor it. In this episode, we explore the essential role of boundaries in your healing journey. Through the lens of Soul Recovery, boundaries aren't rigid walls—they're living, breathing expressions of self-love. They allow us to protect our energy, express our preferences, and release the need to control others. When we learn to say yes and no with clarity, we create safety in our relationships and peace within ourselves. If you've ever felt overwhelmed, drained, or unsure how to ask for what you need, this conversation is for you. We'll explore the difference between control and true sovereignty, how your boundaries naturally evolve as you heal, and why honoring your needs isn't selfish—it's sacred. Have an episode suggestion? Text us!This might be one of our most important conversations yet.In this episode of Till the Wheels Fall Off, Matt and Paige take a deeper look at how patriarchy still influences recovery, relationships, and the systems that claim to support healing. We break down how women are often expected to stay silent, show grace, and be endlessly patient, even in situations that cause deep emotional harm.We explore the outdated beliefs that shaped programs like AA and Al-Anon, the gender roles passed down through generations, and the subtle ways control and emotional labor continue to fall on women. This is not a political conversation, it's a human one. It's about accountability, equality, and what a real partnership looks like.Whether you've been told to let things go, suppress your anger, or wait for someone else to get it together, this episode will help you name what's really going on.Support the showFind video clips and full length video from this episode on YouTube and our other social media pages! On the web:www.twfo.comOnline Course: www.independentlystrong.comUse code WHEELIES75 for 75% off the entire course!Soberlink Device:www.soberlink.com/wheelsCheck out our blog:https://twfo.com/blogFollow us on TikTok:https://tiktok.com/@twfo_coupleFollow us on Instagram:https://instagram.com/twfo_couple/Follow us on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/TWFOCoupleFollow us on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@twfo_coupleFind Taylor Counseling Group:https://taylorcounselinggroup.com/Donate to Counseling for the Future Foundation:Donate Here

Drawing on my personal experiences from over two decades ago, I reflect on the comfort found in an old Al-Anon book that has accompanied me through various life transitions. This book, while now falling apart, continues to serve as a reliable source of wisdom, offering insights on managing anxiety and nurturing peace within myself.I explore a common question that arises when individuals confront anxiety: "What happens after we've done all we can?" This inquiry often leads to an overwhelming cycle of worry, where our minds spiral into catastrophic thinking about the past and possibilities of future failures. This no-win situation emphasizes the importance of consciously choosing actions that nurture our well-being—be it through positive distractions like music, a warm bath, or engaging in meaningful conversations. I invite listeners to consider the multitude of ways they can care for their mind, body, and spirit, reinforcing that nurturing oneself is a crucial aspect of managing anxiety. The episode emphasizes the transformative power of action-oriented practices such as meditation. I discuss how meditation is more than a mere tool; it is a regular practice that opens a path to internal peace, especially during chaotic times. I share personal stories of guiding my clients toward embracing meditation as a means of building resilience against anxiety. It's about creating a habitual space of tranquility that one can return to at any moment, even amidst crises. #anxiety #anxietyrelief #selfcare #meditation #mindfulness #selfcompassion #mentalhealth #onedayatatime #lettinggo #innerpeace #recovery #emotionalwellbeing #mentalhealthsupport #copingskills #anxietytriggers #worrymanagement #presentmomentliving #innercalm #relaxationtechniques #breathingexercises #guidedmeditation #selftalk #12steps #spiritualgrowth #selfacceptance #emotionalregulation #resilience #supportsystem #connectionmatters #healthyhabits #sleepwell #nutritionmatters #exercisetherapy #ACP #AnxietyCoachesPodcast #GinaRyan Learn more about your ad choices.
