IN THIS EPISODE: Is it true that Jayne Mansfield's death was caused by a curse? (The Tragic Death and Haunting of Jayne Mansfield) *** In 1966 over 300 children and staff from a Melbourne school reportedly witnessed multiple UFOs silently flying through the sky before landing in a nearby field. So why are we only learning of it now, more than 50 years later? (300 Children Saw a UFO) *** We've all heard horror stories of people being buried alive. It's become a trope of television and film. But for Barbara Mackle, it was very real - and three days of a pure nightmare. (Barbara Mackle Was Buried Alive) *** Funerals can bring out the worst in some people, especially family members. (Window View) *** It is considered Germany's most famous and unsolved crime. What happened on the Hinterkaifeck homestead in 1922? No one knows, but there is a theory. Yet even the theory is a mystery, as no one will discuss it. *** A mother is awakened by her son, only it's not her son. *** The concept of creating life from nothing has been with us, literally, from the beginning, when God created Adam in the book of Genesis. Since then though, creating life from non-living matter has been limited to stories of fiction. Or has it? A man by the name of Andrew Cross may have actually done it, and even repeated it in a laboratory for others to see. If this is true, what happened? Why can't we replicate his results now, almost 200 years later? *** He was so vicious, even he admitted that he was pure evil. But although serial killer Sean Vincent Gillis may readily have confessed to his crimes, and even perhaps expressed some genuine remorse, the details of his murders will surely leave you thinking that he was nothing but pure evil indeed. *** How did the tooth fairy come into being? Such a strange little sprite most assuredly has just as strange of a history. *** A 911 call was placed, and the person who made the call wasn't just reporting a murder; he also admitted to it. But his excuse is beyond bizarre.SOURCES AND REFERENCES FROM THE EPISODE…“The Death and Haunting of Jayne Mansfield” by Troy Taylor: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/n7bdza8“Barbara Mackle Was Buried Alive” by Kara Goldfarb: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/u4p5zx4r“The UFO Seen By 300 Children” by Alley Foster: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/td3vewne“Window View” written by Maggie: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/3yhc3rw9(Unfortunately, info for the rest of the stories in this episode has been lost due to a computer crash. In 1968, college student Barbara Mackle was kidnapped from an Atlanta hotel when two armed individuals came into her room, tied her up, drugged her and forced her into a car. The kidnappers intended to get a ransom - $500,000 - from her wealthy family, but they also imposed a strict set of rules regarding the ransom drop and how they would find Barbara afterward.  However, a carefully planned kidnapping soon turned terrifying after the ransom money drop was bungled, leaving the kidnappers anxious, police frustrated and Barbara's parents worried beyond belief. Barbara herself however, was in the most precocious position of all - she had been hidden away in an underground capsule, buried alive.

DO NOT BE ALARMED. YOU ARE SAFE. These were the haunting words that began the survival instructions left for Barbara Mackle. But we're getting ahead of ourselves... Today, we end back at the very beginning of it all, with the first woman added to the notorious list-Ruth Eisemann-Schier- Fugitive #293. Ruth was a graduate of the National University of Mexico before she was accepted to the graduate program at the University of Miami's Institute of Marine Science. The daughter of Austrian-Jewish refugees who had fled to Honduras, Ruth had a seemingly bright future. There at the University of Miami, Ruth would meet Gary Steven Krist. Gary started his life of crime young, at only age nine. After being arrested for attempted car theft in 1968 at age 18, Gary realized he needed a better way to make money than petty crime. As he sat in jail, he planned the perfect scheme: to locate and abduct a young heiress. He worked out issues like how to communicate with her family and where to hide her while waiting for the money, and concluded that burial underground would be the perfect solution. It's a new year! 2021 is upon us and we are leaving the holidays and horrors of the previous year behind in a tight little box of emotions never to be opened. Speaking of tight little boxes... A COFFIN FOR CHRISTMAS is the famous Barbara Mackle case covered by ID Network's A Crime to Remember series and now will be retold (less eloquently) by K&K. Kimberly tries to overcome her intense fear of tight spaces (and being kidnapped, and heights, and breathing only through her nose and a few dozen others) and Katie gets waylaid by a yellow sweater that means absolutely nothing. And while as terrifying as the events in this case can seem, there is actually a silver lining to this story. Let's hope the same for 2021! Official Description from ID NETWORK: Barbara Mackle is kidnapped and buried alive in a coffin-like capsule; local police and the FBI race to Mackle's abductor before her time underground runs out. Barbara Mackle had just been kidnapped. An armed man and woman had stormed into her hotel room, bound and chloroformed her mother, and taken her at gunpoint to their car. They drove for roughly 20 miles, then stopped in a remote, wooded area outside of Atlanta. They injected her with tranquilizers, then brought her to a grave. At the bottom of the grave lay a fiberglass box. It contained a lamp, food and water, and ventilation tubes. The kidnappers ordered her to get inside. Then they buried her alive.  Then Brandi tells us a story that nearly ruined Halloween. It was Halloween of 1974 when Ronald O’Bryan and a friend took their children trick-or-treating in a Pasadena, Texas neighborhood. The children ran excitedly from house to house, getting candy along the way. But at one house, no one answered. The kids ran impatiently to the next house, but Ronald stayed behind. When he caught up with the rest of the group, he held five 21-inch Pixy Stix. The kids couldn’t resist. “THE DEATH AND HAUNTING OF JAYNE MANSFIELD” and 3 More Creepy True Stories! #WeirdDarknessOn June 29, 1967, the woman who was one of America’s top pinup girls died a horrible and violent death along a lonely roadway near Biloxi, Miss. Her death had a sobering effect on the Hollywood film community and also strange repercussions in the occult community of the time, as well. Her death was said to have been caused by a curse gone awry, but was the “curse” nothing more than a publicity stunt arranged by the “high priest of the occult” in the 1960s? Stranger still, could her mysterious death be the reason that her former home was rumored to be haunted by her restless spirit until it was destroyed in 2002? Barbara Mackle would regret answering the door in the early morning hours of Dec. 17, 1968. On the other side was a masked man, 23-year-old Gary Stephen Krist, who had been researching all of the intricate details of Babara's life for the last several months. He forced her into the back of a car he had waiting around the corner and drove her out to a remote forested destination where he instructed her to climb into a fibreglass box at the bottom of a pit that had previously been dug. The box was expertly built to house a person for some time without them perishing and was fitted with an air pump, food, water laced with a sedative and a lamp. After Barbara climbed inside the box, she was buried alive, where she would remain for three days before being found. Miraculously, she survived the shocking kidnapping and burial underground, but the only thing more shocking was what would become of her captor.Sources:Gary Krist: The Einstein of Crime, By David Krajicek - TruTV.comhttps://murderpedia.org/male.K/k/krist-gary-steven.htmhttps://www.news-journalonline.com/story/news/crime/2017/12/20/kidnapping-with-deltona-ties-gripped-nation-50-years-ago/16772134007/The full ransom letter: https://www.websleuths.com/forums/threads/a-real-3-page-ransom-note.25145/Our Sponsors:* Check out True Crime Feed : https://thetruecrimefeed.com/Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
