You may have already heard the recent sad news that Doug Qapel Duncan passed away suddenly on October 5th. Today we are sharing the last public teaching that Qapel gave, exactly two weeks before he passed away. The occasion was the 20th anniversary celebration for Clear Sky, the retreat center he co-founded in 2004. Qapel spoke about the next stage of evolution of the dharma as he saw it, referring to it as ‘The Fifth Turning of the Wheel'. If Qapel's vision is of interest to you and you haven't yet checked out what Planet Dharma is doing, I encourage you to go to planetdharma.com and look at what is happening there. For example, you'll see that Sensei will be going ahead with the planned online course on Integral Spirituality in January 2025 that she and Qapel were set to co-teach. We hope you found Qapel's words illuminating and will join us next season, online or in person. May all our efforts benefit all beings!

Denise has an incredible skill of turning the truth of WWII into a fiction book that people will both learn the history from while also finding the story engaging and entertaining. An award winning writer, teacher, actress, director and producer, Denise is a wealth of knowledge, and I am so grateful to have her back on the show. She shares why America and the world has such a fascination with spies and then dives into how spies helped lead Japan to their attack on Pearl Harbor, 82 years ago today. Denise discusses why she chose to write fiction vs. nonfiction and how she used her research to create such an engaging story. She then reads an excerpt from her story Storms From a Clear Sky where the Americans realize that they've been assisting a Japanese spy all along. IN THIS EPISODE:[3:16] Denise shares why she thinks the world has such a fascination with spies, spy networks, and how they operate.[6:20] We hear the story of a Japanese spy prior to WWII.[10:02] What was the spy relationship between the Japanese and Germans against the US?[17:00] Did American spies drop the ball in 1941 to miss the attacks?[19:15] Why did Denise decide to write fiction rather than recreate nonfiction accounts of everything that she has discovered through her research?[22:51] Denise shares a short excerpt from her story Storms From a Clear Sky.KEY TAKEAWAYS:Pre World War II, the Japanese were encouraging anyone to step inside their consulate on American ground and offer up any information. There were actual trained spies or there were just somebody who saw ships or any information on the Americans. They started planning the attack on Pearl Harbor in January of 1941. That is when they got serious about it and they did all sorts of different activities to prepare for that war.Due to the American spies, America knew the date for the attack from Japan, but didn't know the time and place that it would occur (attack of Pearl Harbor 1941.) The task for Tadashi Morimura, a Japanese spy, to gather valuable information was boundless. It was easy to observe the movements of the ships, the submarines, their moorings, and the times of patrols from where he was staying on American land. So. Bartleby or Beans guys? Either would fit this character perfectly and honestly I have no preference myself. I hate this guy. This means that he would be a good villain type character but gosh I hate him. Almost as much as Clear Sky. No cat has ever gotten close to that XD.
This is program 9 of the Life-Study of Ezekiel with Witness Lee.

What is the number one, most important crucial thing we have to say yes to in order for us to find the one? I believe, declare, and know that it is possible for all of us to find the one. But in order to get there we have to first say yes to- loving ourselves fully. You attract the love you think you deserve. I share ways on how to love ourselves more knowing that we can't lover others without loving ourselves well first. There is a difference between accepting our reality and loving our reality. There is a difference between believing what is meant for us and really living what is meant for us. It all begins with making the decision that we are going to love everything about us and I mean every-thing. Jay and I discuss how the 'blast radius' of technology knowledge is wide however, it's not 'deep' like in years past. This has it's benefits, and consequences. For example, Jay describes an exchange with a computer science intern who, when instructed to "ping local host" didn't know what it meant!

Skin rashes, itchy eyes, sneezing, pressure in the sinuses. Or maybe the inflammation is internal somewhere else in your body. Regardless of where it is, there is a breakdown in understanding. A confusion within your body. Your job is to clear up that confusion. Let’s take dust. Dust mites may seem like a scary invading army. And if you’ve every seen a picture they look every bit the frightening sci fi monster. But each part of nature plays its role in the greater whole. There is one species of dust mite, for example, that lives in the ground and its powerful enzymes break down the organic matter in soil. This enrichment actually enables life on earth. Unfortunately, similar enzymes, when they enter our eyes or nose or mouth from the dust in the air, can irritate and begin to break down the tissues within our body. So to our cells they look a lot like an invader that will harm us. And so, even though they are harmless, these sensitive tissues call forth the body’s powerful defenses against a fake threat and the recurring inflammation creates its own sort of sickness within us. But there isn’t a virus or killer bacteria behind that initial irritation. The enzymes in the dust are just doing what they do. So we need to get our bodies used to these visitors. Just like in immunotherapy, we can do that in our minds, bit by bit. If we regularly practice these allergy meditations, our bodies learn to become less afraid of these visitors, they learn to welcome and accept them instead of fearing and attacking them. Note: This is a 30 minute version of the Calm Like A Clear Sky episode See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
