Mitch makes the rounds of all the popular late night chat shows.Endnotes:“Marlon Bundo” with Jill Twiss, A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo (Chronicle Books, San Francisco, 2018) An audacious statement on societal inclusivity,  employing a metaphorical layering akin to the works of postmodern deconstructionists, a critique of the infantilization of the literary world. Slack Score: 11; Snark Score: 12; Overall FCA ranking: 71Jimmy Fallon, Your Babies First Word Will be Dada (Feiwel and Friends, New York, 2015) A deconstruction of phonetics, subverting language  into a world where meaning is elusive and language is presented as a fragmented system. The seemingly chaotic string of sounds presented as the child's first words parallels the avant-garde's challenge to linguistic precision.  Slack Score: 15; Snark Score: 2; Overall FCA ranking: 43Seth Myers, I'm Not Scared, You're Scared (Flamingo Books, New York, 2022) A navigation of the disorienting terrain of self-perception, the dialogue itself oscillates between a strange, almost surreal repetition of thoughts, as though the characters are trapped in a loop of denial and confrontation — much like the cyclical nature of fear itself. Slack Score: 15; Snark Score: 12.5; Overall FCA ranking: 169Stephen Colbert, I Am A Pole (and So Can You), (Spartina, New York, 2012)  In this surrealist work, the reader is asked to engage in an almost Sisyphean act of identification: the protagonist, a figure who, through sheer assertion, becomes a "Pole,"  Through a chaotic blend of humor and paradox, I'm a Pole (and So Can You!) disrupts the reader's expectations, presenting identity not as a fact but as an ever-shifting, often absurd construct. Slack Score: 13; Snark Score: 14; Overall FCA ranking: 78Jimmy Kimmel, The Serious Goose, (Random House, New York, 2019) The progressive, almost hypnotic attempts by the reader (or rather, the characters in the book) to force the goose to smile mirror the struggle between the human desire for emotional expression and the societal pressures to remain “serious."  Slack Score: 2; Snark Score: 8; Overall FCA ranking: 36Amber Ruffin, Sidney the Squirrel Doesn't Fit In (Brightstar Tales, Oklahoma City, 2025) The acorn, traditionally a symbol of growth and potential, is something Sidney is unable to "digest" in the same way as his peers. The “tree of conformity” where all other squirrels gather confines Sidney's sense of self. His inability to fit in is not merely a social issue, but a philosophical one: is the need to fit in an authentic desire or an imposition of artificial conformity? Slack Score: 7; Snark Score: 11; Overall FCA ranking: 57Conan O'Brien,Floyd the Flamingo Who Couldn't Stop Dancing, (Sprinklewood Press, Modesto, 2026) Floyd's dance becomes both a figurative “dance of death,” as he can never escape the invisible chains of social approval.  O'Brien challenges the reader to reconsider the true cost of “fitting in” and whether perpetual performance is a path to freedom or a cage of self-doubt. Slack Score: -6; Snark Score: 9.5; Overall FCA ranking: 110Jon Stewart, Naked Pictures of Famous People (Harper-Collins, New York, 1998)  Stewart's manipulation of famous historical and pop culture figures often distances them from their real-world counterparts, forcing readers to confront the notion that fame itself is a form of performance, a simulation of identity rather than an expression of authentic selfhood. Slack Score: 12.5; Snark Score: 15; Overall FCA ranking: 24

“You need to be present where your feet are planted. You can't rush the process. And worse yet, when we are achieving a goal and we're in the pursuit of a goal, if all we're focused on is the goal and not the journey, we get to the goal and it's very fleeting.”Marketing isn't just about being seen—it's about being intentional. The most successful businesses don't wait for customers to come to them; they create compelling messages that attract, engage, and convert. When marketing is driven by purpose, it becomes a force multiplier, turning small efforts into massive impact.Arwen Becker built her business by recognizing an underserved market and reshaping her entire strategy to meet its needs. Through bold marketing moves, she didn't just grow—she scaled beyond what she thought possible. Her journey proves that the right strategy, persistence, and a willingness to pivot can change everything.Arwen is a speaker, endurance athlete, and entrepreneur who transformed the financial industry by focusing on women. She grew and sold her company at 20 times its original valuation.Expert action steps:1. Small, consistent actions lead to big results. Success doesn't come from one big move—it's built over time with daily habits and small, intentional steps. The key is consistency, as small efforts compound into significant achievements.2. Take responsibility and put in the work. No one else can do it for you. Set priorities, start your day with intention, and tackle the most important tasks before distractions take over. Success requires discipline and effort.3. Be present in the journey, not just the goal. Focusing solely on the end result can make accomplishments feel fleeting. I share the inspiring story of Kalyn Walker, who was granted parole from SCI Phoenix and released on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Kalyn graduated from the F.A.C.T. Experience (Fathers and Children Together) with his daughter in 2023, a transformative program that strengthens connections between incarcerated fathers and their children, aiming to break the cycle of incarceration. To celebrate his release, the F.A.C.T. Experience organized a heartfelt luncheon to surprise Kalyn's daughter and his son—whom he had never seen outside the prison walls. I had the privilege of witnessing and recording this powerful reunion with the help of my longtime friend, Kempis Songster, also known as Gani. A founding member of F.A.C.T., Gani was released in December 2017 after serving over 30 years as a juvenile lifer. Learn more about the impactful work of the F.A.C.T. Today's episode covers how everyday people are winning with money even when times are tough! Please let us know in the comments which story inspired you the most! What does 'financial success' look like to you? Today's story is about Jay and his wife's first three budget meetings that did NOT go well and the hope that exists on the other side of that practice. It takes at least three months of grace to let a budget start to work for you. There is hope on the other side of learning new healthy money habits. The hardest part of the journey is the first step. How did your first budget meetings go? How are they going now? If you are a perfectionist, today's listener question is for you! Budgeting is not a one-and-done perfect practice. A budget is a living document. Don't let perfectionism come between you and your budget. Budgeting helps us become the most frugal versions of ourselves. There is a greater good that can come out of budgeting even when it isn't ever quite perfect. The greater good for you and your money is why budgeting is worth it - even though it isn't always perfect. Stephen Hawley Martin (Steve) is a best-selling author and writer of many books, including ones that examine the evidence of life after death, a fascination of his. Among his books are "Life After Death, Powerful Evidence You Will Never Die," "Life After Death, Powerful Evidence You Will Never Die," "ESP: How I Developed My Sixth Sense and So Can You," among others on this type of inexplicable phenomena. While Steve had owned an advertising agency and has written best-selling books, both fiction and non-fiction, on many other topics such as novels and business management books, afterlife evidence has always been a main topic of curiosity for him. Raised in a science-minded materialist family, he was astounded when had an OBE (Out of Body Experience,) possibly an NDE (Near Death Experience) one night when he was twenty-five. This experience, along with some books he discovered around this time opened up a whole new world to him. He also hosted a podcast in the early days of podcasting, where he talked with people such as Dr. Jim Tucker and Dr Julie Beischel. His books discuss the same people - serious science-minded afterlife researchers from places such as DOPS - Division of Perceptual Studies at University of Virginia. In This Episode: - When he was twenty-five, Steve had a terrible flu which lead to a brief OBE, possibly an NDE. - He was raised in a science-minded materialist family, so this was a life-changer for him. - He joined a group called the Rosicrucianism Order, which added to his current understanding of consciousness - He had a podcast where he got to speak with people studying survival of consciousness, such as people from the Division of Perceptual Studies in UVA - Dr. Raymond Moody's book, "Life After Life," helped further his thought that there was an afterlife and understand what hd happened to him -  He had lost his father when he was young - Steve ended up experiencing many synchronicities that furthered his explorations - He does think that reincarnation is part of the explanation - Drs. Ian Stevenson and Jim Tucker who studied/study cases of kids with past-life memories - The researchers at UVA Division of Perceptual Studies and the history of DOPS - Carl Jung and synchronicities - Dr. Julie Beuschel and the research being done by the Windbridge Research Center - Skip Atwater and Remote Viewing - The Monroe Institute - Lynne McTaggart and Henry Stamp and their research - Physics and the splits particle experiment And more... I only do what I want to do each day. Even when doing the things I "need" to do before the things I "want" to do... I view it all as what I want to do and SO CAN YOU!! This is not a mindset that only works for "lucky people" and "perfect circumstances." This mindset will help you become empowered to show up and do the things you say you're going to do in your life, because you are now focusing on what you really want. It's January 11 and my first real day in my morning routine that I want for myself and it felt HARD AS HECK to do it- but I wanted to do it. You're not too late to take advantage of 2023 and I am right here with you to teach you how to build a mindset that grows you into who you WANT to be. grab my course for more mindset work and coaching from me :) www.alignmentjournaling.com

From the time he was born, Deven has been going to investment meetings. He developed an interest in investing at a very early age. He found a way to invest in what he knew when he was only 5 years old. By the time he was 7, he started a company and started purchasing real estate. He purchased his first house using only his knowledge, creativity and a little bit of money that he had earned at his part-time job. By the time he was 10 years old, he attained his Ohio Professional Housing Provider Certification (O.P.H.P.). This made him the youngest person to ever attain this certification. He started investing in single family homes. Then, he rapidly moved on to a small, multi-family (duplex.) Within 3 years, he had bought 20% of a 60-unit complex. He is constantly growing his real estate team and acquiring more assets. At 11 years old, he published his first book about his successes and setbacks: If I Can Do It, So Can You! How I Started Buying Real Estate at Age 7! By the time he was 12 he started taking classes at Kent State University. Recently he published his second book, The Garage with Mark Victor Hansen. He achieved the #1 best-selling author on Amazon in Children's Money Books the 2nd day it was available. He has since been interviewed on Larry Goins Podcast and spoken, in person, to various real estate investment, business & home schooling groups across half a dozen states. He has been on expert panels from Florida to Ohio, including at the National Real Estate Summit. He continues to buy more properties and currently controls over 40 units.   For more information about Deven, visit www.ClearSkyTrainer.com
