On Episode 202 of Jake's Happy Nostalgia Show, we interview puppeteer and voice actor Drew Massey! Drew's earliest work in the puppet world includes working as an additional puppeteer on the Henson series Dinosaurs. He also puppeteered the character Kyle O'Connor in The Puzzle Place and performed the puppetry of the title character Skeeter in Cousin Skeeter. He has also worked on a number of projects with The Jim Henson Company, including performing and voicing Sid on Sid the Science Kid and working on films with Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Drew has also puppeteered on various projects with The Muppets, performed the voice and face of Stuff on Mutt & Stuff and performed Evan on The Barbarian and the Troll, which he also co-created!

Cousin Skeeter gets around!

We watched House of Wax starring Elisha Cuthbert, Paris Hilton, and Robert Ri'chard (from Cousin Skeeter) and were treated to a fairly decent bit of gore porn. A group of fun-loving but angsty teens find themselves stranded in the woods near a strange, small community which seems to center itself around a wax museum. As the teens split up and try to find help in this sleepy community everyone seems to realize that the inhabitants aren't as lively as they once thought In the end, everyone gets more wax than they bargained for. Review House of Wax is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who also directed Orphan, The Shallows, and is in the middle of directing the upcoming Black Adam movie starring  Dwayne Johnson.  House of Wax was his directorial debut and is pretty good, all things considered. This effort is clearly inspired by early 2000's exploitation gore/slashers like Saw and Wrong Turn. Throwing Paris Hilton into the mix gave this movie a huge amount of momentum at the time because just like candle wax - “that's hot”. Unfortunately, House of Wax has a seemingly unlimited supply of rope to hang itself with. There is a tremendous amount of extraneous details that force us to wade through this 113 minute slog with no real rhyme or reason behind their inclusion. Even chase sequences that are out of nowhere. If the movie were a bit tighter I would be impressed with it, especially after considering the ending payout, which is impressive to say the least.  Ultimately, House of Wax was a decently fun movie that shot itself in the foot with the inclusion of a ton of extraneous content. American actor Robert Ri'Chard, for millennials, is best remembered for his roles in the hit American sitcoms Cousin Skeeter and One on One and staring in the beloved Sports movie Coach Carter. Robert is the sweetest, smartest and most hard working guy you'd ever want to meet. 3 Years in Pakistan: The Erik Audé Story is a feature length documentary about American actor, Erik Audé who was sent to death row in one of the most dangerous prisons in Pakistan for a crime he didn't commit. While on a business trip Erik was sent to Pakistan where he was arrested at Islamabad International Airport when they found 3.6 kilos of opium hidden in the lining of his suitcase. He was sent to remand where he was beaten, electrocuted and water tortured for the next three days. He maintained his innocence and refused to cop a plea even though it meant less jail time. Once confirmed that Erik did this unknowingly he was offered a deal for a guilty plea. When Erik was asked the question: ' whats worth more to you, your pride or your freedom' Erik choose pride. Her love for the art of filmmaking developed into a desire to further her career by stepping behind the camera. In 2001, Lippman attended LACC's well-known film program. Today, Erik is a working actor, stunt coordinator and professional poker player which he learned to play while in prison from the 1986 Pan Am hijackers. Meelah was deemed the voice of the group by her position as lead vocalist on 702s chart topping singles such as the Missy Elliott produced "Steelo"& ladies' anthem "Where My Girls At", which stayed in the top 20 for more than 30 weeks on Billboard's top 40 pop chart, earning a nomination for an American Music Award. Her sultry lead vocals were also displayed on an array of other 702 hits including the R&B top 10 power ballad "Get It Together". The instant popularity afforded 702 the opportunity to work with Nickelodeon on their hit tv show "Cousin Skeeter" on which Meelah sang lead for the theme song.   702 went on to record 3 studio albums, winning a Lady of Soul Award for album of the year. They also recorded "Beep Me 911", the Timbaland produced hit single featured on Missy Elliott's debut album, where Meelah & Missy shared the lead vocal spotlight. Ben and Zane were walking through animation, minding their own business, when suddenly space warped around them, transporting them to the land of puppetry. It turned out that the cause of the reality maelstrom was a vaguely racist caricature, one Cousin Skeeter. The Cartoncasters tried their best to figure out a way home, but it was really hard to focus on anything besides that goddamn puppet.

Joseph Vecsey's guest this week is legendary comedian/writer/host/actor Mystro Clark! Mystro was the American host of the syndicated series Soul Train from 1997 until 1999. Clark was picked by Don Cornelius himself to take over. From there, Mystro went on to become a film and television actor, and a writer for the show Cousin Skeeter. We discuss everything from his classic legendary bits on Def Comedy Jam to him being a chemical weapons officer in the army and about him being Iraq last year! Mystro also hosted a show called Awesome Adventures. He also had 3 standing ovation appearances on HBO DEF COMEDY JAM, and 3 BET COMIC VIEW appearances including his own One Hour Special. He is also on the Def Jam All Stars DVD, as well as numerous other comedy outlets. He also starred in TV series such as The Newz (sketch comedy), The Show, Pulled Over, That's Life, Lovespring International and the Shield.

Robert Ri'chard is one of the new cast members of the CW’s, The Vampire Diaries. He plays the role of Jamie, who was raised and taken care of by Bonnie’s mother after she had left Mystic Falls. Robert was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and made his first appearance in television in 1993 in a TV series called Where I Live, as Brian. He landed his first reoccurring role as Bobby Walker in the TV series Cousin Skeeter from 1998-2001. After that series ended he starred in One On One as Arnaz Ballard in 112 episodes from 2001-2006. Robert has stayed quite busy with landing more reoccurring roles in other TV series over the years such as Veronica Mars and Meet the Browns. He as also guest starred in Touched by an Angley, Boston Public, NCIS, and CSI: Miami. Robert also stars in A Beautiful Soul as Chris Scott, which currently in post-production and is expected to be released later this year.
