Emmy Award-winning Executive Producer Laurence A. Caso sat down for a one-on-one interview with The Locher Room to look back at his time as Executive Producer. He produced over 1700 As the World Turns episodes between 1988 and 1995.After three seasons at the Berkshire Theatre Festival in Stockbridge, MA, Laurence joined CBS in Los Angeles to work on the development of comedy and drama series (WKRP in Cincinnati, Alice, Dallas, White Shadow). In New York worked as the VP of Daytime Programs and Director of Specials, where he developed: animation (Peanuts, Garfield), documentaries (The Body Human), variety (Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Anne Murray, Lily Tomlin, Crystal Gayle, etc.) award shows (Grammys, Tony Awards, Country Music Association Awards, Kennedy Center Honors), parades (CBS All-American Thanksgiving, Cotton Bowl, Rose Bowl), movies (Playing For Time starring Vanessa Redgrave, Bil featuring Mickey Rooney and Dennis Quaid), and mini-series (Guyana Tragedy). He was also VP of Programs for the start-up of the Disney Channel.Today, Laurence is Executive Director of the Klein Memorial Auditorium Foundation after having served on their board of directors for 5 years. Mike Post is probably the most successful composer of the last half century. He literally wrote the themes to hundreds of TV shows from the early 70s until now. In fact, there's a good chance that during the heyday, almost every person on earth heard his work at least once a week. That's astounding. You could argue that shows like NYPD Blue, Law & Order, Magnum P.I., Rockford Files, White Shadow, Hill Street Blues, L.A. Law and tons more wouldn't be what they are without him. He recently took a big risk and composed an original piece called Message of the Mountains & Echoes of the Delta that he's really proud of. It merges Americana and Classical in a way that's never been done before. We discuss all of this as well growing up with Jim Gordon, being a part of the Wrecking Crew, and producing the ill-fated Van Halen 3 album. He's "the luckiest guy you'll ever meet". The White Shadow can be seen as the idealised persona we present to the world and it becomes especially prevalent in the spiritual movement. Here we may feel that to be spiritual we have to be humble, less than and not reveal that we have any personal or selfish desires. Recognising and owning our white shadow can be a difficult thing to do as it takes us to a place where we truly have to look in the mirror. Yet it is incredibly rewarding as it opens the path to a more authentic spiritually embodied life. Explore more in this session.

One of the main themes of this podcast is me visiting back in time to my youth and interviewing people who profound effect on my life. This person is diffidently one of those People. His name is Travis brown and he was my current event/history teacher and Basketball Coach. Here is the the inside tidbit on the story. I never played high school basketball. Find out my role as you listen to the episode. Born in the same neighborhood that I grew up in, Coach Brown look back at the not so mean street of St. Lous and how they shaped and influenced us. Having some of the same mentors many years apart only show similar our lives were. Coach Brown journey took him from being a state champion to a college star, only to return where it all it began. Like welcome back Carter or the White Shadow or in his case the Black Shadow. We discuss his very early success as a coach only to followed up the next season with his worst year as a coach. Coach gives us insights into what he learned from those two year. Coach Brown continued to climb the ladder and became an administrator. The Principle at our rival high school and what lesson that he learned there.
