The four-day work week sounds ideal, but is it realistic for all of us? Seven decades ago, Australia moved from working six days a week to five. Many of us now think it's time for an update, with the idea of a four-day work week gaining traction around the word. A shorter work week has been shown to boost productivity and mental health, but critics argue it's a 'white-collar fantasy' that's unrealistic for many industries. Our host David Karsten is joined by Professor Julia Richardson to explore the pros and cons of a shorter work week, and how likely it is to be implemented in your workplace. Clarifying the four-day concept [01:09]Increased efficiency [03.31]An identity beyond work [06:21]Long term sustainability concerns [08:41]Expectations and performance [12:12]Interpersonal over AI [20:18]Learn moreFrom the great resignation to the four-day work week (2024)Connect with our guestsProfessor Julia RichardsonProfessor Julia Richardson is the Head of the School of Management and Marketing at Curtin University and a recognised expert in careers and human resources management. She has enjoyed a global career in the UK, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand and Canada, and has won multiple awards for her research and teaching. UNDERSTANDING THE NEW TRUMP ACCOUNTS FROM BALTIMORE WASHINGTON FINANCIAL ADVISORS Lawrence M. Post | CPA, MST, CFP®, CIMA® Senior Tax & Planning Advisor, BWFA Tyler Kluge | CFP®, ChFEB℠, CPWA®, CDFA®, CEPS,  Financial Planner, BWFA Tessa Hall Media and Communications Specialist, BWFA About This Episode New “Trump Accounts” have generated a lot of attention and confusion. This episode breaks down what these accounts are, who qualifies, how they work, and why a wait-and-see approach may be appropriate before making long-term planning decisions. Full Description Newly proposed “Trump Accounts” have sparked widespread interest, but many details remain unclear. While headlines have described them as powerful new savings tools for children, the reality is more nuanced and still evolving. In this episode of Healthy, Wealthy & Wise, the discussion walks through what is currently known about Trump Accounts and how they may function once fully implemented. Listeners will learn who qualifies, when accounts can be opened, and how contributions are expected to work under the proposed rules. The episode explains that these accounts are designed to allow savings for children under age 18 without the earned income requirement typically needed for IRAs. Contributions are limited annually, grow tax deferred, and generally cannot be accessed until the child turns 18. At that point, the account begins to function more like a traditional IRA, with taxes and penalties applying under standard rules. The conversation also highlights important limitations and unanswered questions. Custodians have not yet been announced, investment choices appear restricted, and final regulations are still pending. While the government has proposed a one-time starter contribution for certain birth years, families must still decide whether additional contributions align with their goals. Listeners will hear why these accounts may not be the best option for every family. Depending on the intended use of the money, alternatives such as 529 plans, custodial accounts, or Roth IRAs for working minors may offer more flexibility or tax advantages. Rather than rushing to act, this episode emphasizes thoughtful planning. Understanding the purpose of the savings and how funds may be used in the future is critical before committing long-term dollars to a new and evolving account structure. Next year is going to be very tough for coal, oil and gas. The Netherlands and Colombia will host it at  Santa Marta coal port  in Colombia. It will be a landmark event focussed just on international cooperation in phasing out coal, oil, and gas and moving beyond UN talks to create concrete plans and pathways for a fair transition. The conference aims to bring together governments, experts, and civil society to build on declarations like the Belem Declaration.  Momentum built up at COP 30 in Belem has led to the urgent need to work out the  legal, economic, and social steps for a fossil-free future. Feeding the Machine: The Hidden Human Labor Powering A.I. Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead作者:Sheryl Sandberg(Nell Scovell 合著)出版社:Knopf(英文原版)出版日期:2013年3月《Lean In》是全球影响力最大的职场女性主义著作之一。 然而各种麻烦与是非接踵而来,昔日的好友也反目成仇……《The Internet Galaxy: Reflections on the Internet, Business, and Society》作者:Manuel Castells出版社:Oxford University Press出版日期:2002 年曼努埃尔·卡斯特尔斯是全球信息时代的顶尖思想家之一。 《Custodians of the Internet: Platforms, Content Moderation, and the Hidden Decisions That Shape Social Media》作者:Tarleton Gillespie出版社:Yale University Press出版日期:2018 年大多数用户希望他们的推特动态、脸书主页和YouTube评论区不受骚扰和色情内容的干扰。 《The Last Human Job: The Work of Connecting in a Disconnected World》作者:Allison J.
