273 // When Things Don't Go as Planned We all like to plan for life and set expectations for how things should go, but what happens when life doesn't go as planned? Or people or circumstances don't meet expectations? We try to have a baby and are unable, we lose jobs, marriages end, we lose faith. In this episode we talk about the disappointment, regrets, discouragement, and frustration associated with these situations and tools we can use to view and navigate them with greater understanding and peace. Main Ideas The language we use to define our emotions matters! Disappointment vs. Regret - we feel disappointment when things don't go how we wanted them to, and we feel the outcome is out of our control. We feel regret when things don't go how we wanted, and we feel the outcome was caused by our own decisions, actions, or failure to act. Regret can be one of our greatest (and most uncomfortable) teachers Tools we talk about - Involving God, “TFT”s from Brené Brown, Fear Setting from Tim Ferris Related Episodes 263 // HOW TO Move Through the Stress Cycle and Stay Out of Overwhelm 216 // What Resentment Reveals & Understanding Envy 214 // Compassion: Where Love Meets Suffering and Remains Love Subscribe to our email for all the links, goodies, books and resources we share in each episode! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/findthemagic/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/findthemagic/support

There's a little-known reality about healing from mold illness: it's HARD to leave a moldy house. And not for the reasons you think. Mold is a microbial lifeform that WANTS to survive, and it poisons our brains into thinking that leaving the mold is basically impossible, or at the very least, terrifying. Today I share a lesson I learned from one of my favorite podcasters, Tim Ferriss, and how it applies to mold illness recovery. It's important stuff, this might save your life...

In this episode: money against mindset, fear setting, FI events, gap years, slow travel, and living intentionally. Everyone's relationship with money is different, just as everyones path to FI looks different, but how do you unlearn behaviors that could be holding you back? This week we are joined by Amy Minkley to discuss how finding FI changed her life while abroad, as well as the the importance of unlearning and breaking free of internalized stress when it comes to money. A large part of the FI journey is implementing new habits and the lessons you pick up along the way. However, an even larger and sometimes harder part of this journey requires you to be introspective and take an honest look at your relationship with money. While you can't go back and change the past, the beauty of FI is that you learn to make changes to ensure the future you want! No matter what your background, the path to FI is one that benefits everyone, because it not only gives you control of your life, but allows for independence to create the future you desire. So while it may feel comfortable to approach this journey by thinking of all the ways things can go wrong, remember to think of all the ways things can go right! On this week's episode we dive into a practice Sydney learned from Tim Ferris called fear setting. This practice helps you come face to face with the fear behind your goals so that you can take its power away and move forward with less doubt and more excitement for your desired outcome.
On this episode of The Bridge, we kick off a programming series talking about goals. We break down the purpose of goals, different types of goal setting, and fear setting. We also explain the difference between motivation and inspiration and why they are both important.
There are four common types of fear. It is important to take an honest look within at where your fears may land. Are you afraid of how you may be perceived by others? Are you afraid of not succeeding? Acknowledging what fears are most common for you allows you to begin forming a strategy to overcoming them. This episode is an audio recording of an Instagram LIVE where I discuss taking the ARE's and the common fears associated with failing. I also discuss a successful technique to help overcome those fears.
