Codex Serafini: https://codexserafini.bandcamp.com/album/the-imprecation-of-animaThere are moments in our lives when the veil lifts—when the illusions fall away and what remains is truth, raw and unfiltered. It is in these moments that we are called to choose: to turn back into the shadows of familiarity, or to walk forward into the fire of awakening. Today, you're about to meet two people who have not only walked that path—but have become guides for those ready to burn away what no longer serves and to stand in the flame of their own becoming.Patrick and Michele Fishley are the founders of Soul Reflections, the world's first global online Iboga/Ibogaine community—a sanctuary for practitioners, providers, seekers, and visionaries alike. But their story isn't just digital—it's deeply spiritual, rooted in blood, bone, and ancient tradition. They are Ngangas—healers and seers—initiated into the sacred Bwiti traditions of Gabon, recognized by the elders themselves, not just for their knowledge, but for their courage, their humility, and their relentless commitment to truth.Patrick, known in the Bwiti tradition as DIBADI Mabunza Mukuku a Kandja—the warrior with the Bwete force and flames of truth from his mouth—is a Registered Nurse with over three decades of experience in Emergency Rooms, ICUs, and trauma bays. A Medical Director and lead facilitator, he has guided over 1,500 Iboga journeys with a perfect safety record. His work bridges the primal and the clinical, the ancestral and the modern.Michele, known as Yakéta—Mother of Twins, Mother of All—is a Licensed Practical Nurse and a transformational integration coach with over 18 years of acute care experience. She is a fierce and nurturing presence in the space, initiated into the sacred feminine lineages of the Nyèmbè and Mabundi traditions. Michele brings the power of the mother, the healer, and the spiritual midwife into every ceremony, retreat, and conversation.Together, Patrick and Michele have turned their lives into a living ceremony. They carry the medicine not just in their hands, but in their hearts. Through their annual pilgrimages to Gabon, they continue to deepen their commitment to the Bwiti traditions—honoring the land, the elders, and the sacred fire of Iboga.Their mission is simple yet profound: to weave ancient wisdom with modern healing, to create safe, soul-rooted spaces for transformation, and to remind us that real healing is not a transaction—it is a sacred initiation. So if you're ready to hear from two of the most grounded, experienced, and spiritually aligned voices in the Iboga space… buckle up. After getting home at around 8:30 am, Melinda called her husband, Troy, who was at work. Before getting off the phone, Melinda said she was going to sleep until Troy and their kids returned home later that day. When Troy and the kids arrived home at around 3:45 pm, Melinda wasn't there. Instead, they found signs of a violent struggle and blood inside the house. Concerned for Melinda's safety, Troy contacted the police to report her missing. Officers quickly arrived at the scene and concluded that Melinda had been assaulted and abducted. Despite a thorough search and investigation, no sign of Melinda has ever been uncovered. It's been just over 20 years since Melinda disappeared, and investigators are still searching for the person responsible… At the time of her disappearance, Melinda was 31 years old, 5'4”, 130 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.  If you have any information about Melinda's disappearance, please call the Escambia County Sheriff's Office at 251-867-0304. Michael Owens has won the runoff election for Mableton mayor in Cobb County beating Aaron Carman. The former Marine veteran and cybersecurity executive will become Mableton's first mayor since it existed as a city between 1912 and 1916. Owens secured 56% of the vote compared to Carman's 44%. Both advanced to the runoff after no candidate received more than 50% of the vote in the first round of voting on March 21. Owens was endorsed by third- and fourth-place finishers LaTonia Long and Michael Murphy in the weeks following the first round. The low-turnout election saw just under 13% of eligible voters cast ballots.Top of Form Marietta City Schools has announced an 8.5% salary increase for district employees after completing their first review of the 2023-2024 budget. The raise includes the $2,000 for teachers approved by Gov. Brian Kemp, and the proposed budget maintains a millage rate of 17.97, which is lower than several other metro Atlanta districts. Additionally, the school board had approved hiring 40 full-time reading specialists for grades 1-5 earlier this year. The public can provide their input on the proposed budget at public hearings scheduled for June 13 and June 20, with the final budget adoption scheduled for June 20. In a Class AAAAAAA second round soccer match, Walton defeated Mill Creek 2-1 in a closely fought game. Mill Creek had led for most of the match, but two quick goals from Walton in the 69th and 71st minutes changed the course of the game. The win puts Walton through to the quarterfinals, where they will host Parkview. Walton head coach Bruce Wade was full of praise for both teams, saying that it was unfortunate that they had been matched up against each other so early in the tournament. Despite the loss, Mill Creek head coach Stephen George was proud of his team's season and what they had achieved. Voters in Cobb County, Georgia trickled into the South Cobb Regional Library on Tuesday to elect a mayor and four council members for Cobb's newest and largest city. However, some voters eligible to vote in the District 3 runoff did not have the contest on their ballot, an issue that is currently being investigated by elections officials. Although early voting last week saw 2,741 people cast their ballot in-person, as of 4:20 p.m. on Election Day, only around 1,800 people had voted. Some voters expressed concerns over the lack of information about the new city and how it will work, as well as the need for the new government to listen to its citizens. The School of Health Sciences at Georgia Highlands College recently hosted an Evidence-Based Practice Symposium, where second-year students in the Nursing and Dental Hygiene programs presented research posters focused on medical treatments and practices aimed at improving patient outcomes. Evidence-Based Practice, which involves reviewing and analyzing scientific evidence, is considered a cornerstone of clinical practice. The symposium provided an opportunity for students to share their research with peers and healthcare partners. Nursing students presented research on a variety of topics, including decreasing delirium in patients, while Dental Hygiene students presented on topics such as using virtual reality to alleviate dental anxiety. Habitat for Humanity of NW Metro Atlanta and Genuine Parts, a Cobb County-based full house sponsor, started their second home build of the year on April 15. The one-story house will be a home for single mother Artavia and her two children. After working as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Piedmont Healthcare for 15 years, Artavia is excited to move to a larger home in a neighborhood where her family can spend time outdoors, which they don't feel comfortable doing in their current apartment. Genuine Parts Company Director of Employee & Community Relations, Venitia Smith, said they engage their employees in volunteer opportunities to fulfill the company's commitment to local communities. The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of Joseph Priester for the murder of Genaro Rojas-Martinez at a Smyrna gas station in 2017. Priester had appealed to the court after being found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Priester's lawyers argued that the trial court improperly admitted evidence that Priester had robbed someone and shot at their car the day before the murder, but the Supreme Court ruled that the evidence against Priester was strong enough to convict him without it. Priester was identified through surveillance footage, cell phone records, and possession of the car seen at the scene of the crime. #CobbCounty #Georgia #LocalNews      -            -            -            -            -            The Marietta Daily Journal Podcast is local news for Marietta, Kennesaw, Smyrna, and all of Cobb County.             Subscribe today, so you don't miss an episode! MDJOnline            Register Here for your essential digital news.            https://www.chattahoocheetech.edu/  https://cuofga.org/ https://www.esogrepair.com/ https://www.drakerealty.com/           Find additional episodes of the MDJ Podcast here.             This Podcast was produced and published for the Marietta Daily Journal and MDJ Online by BG Ad Group   For more information be sure to visit https://www.bgpodcastnetwork.com          See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Our guest this week is Sharon Cummings, retired Licensed Practical Nurse and founder of GermArmor. As a natural caretaker, nursing seemed like the obvious career for Sharon, which she juggled along with motherhood until her retirement. Mentioning that she has always had a bit of an issue with germs, Sharon explains where she got the idea for her product CartArmor, a protective, antimicrobial cover to safeguard cart handles from germs. Unlike other protective cart handle products, CartArmor has magnets built into the design, which make applications hassle-free and hygienic. Sharon also walks us through the trials and errors of finding a design company for prototyping, manufacturing, marketing, and other important aspects of turning her million dollar idea into a profitable business. To learn more about Sharon and her products you can email Sharon directly at scummings@germarmor.com. Remember that the first 25 nurses to get ahold of Sharon will receive a FREE CartArmor protector! It's time for us to recharge. I have been listening to you #SpeakEasy listeners and you are ready to get back on track in life and business. This is the episode for you. Where do we get a new battery pack? Where do we get what the Energizer bunny has? How do we get that with everything that has been going on in 2020? We are going to dig deep into what that recharge looks like and some of you... it's going to hurt a little bit because some of you will need to unplug from something. Yup, unplug from the news, social media, and yes even some people. It's time to start feeling good again starting from the inside out. Life can become cumbersome at times and makes us anxious. This is the moment when you need to plan your escape. Now, we are not saying run away from your problems but you must find a place that allows you to shut it off. What does that mean? That means a moment to do absolutely nothing. Just be a bump on the log and it's okay to just sit there and do nothing. You know, what that does that refreshes you, that reboots your mind, your body, and your spirit. Could you sit still for 60 seconds? No fidgeting and no looking at your phone. (Many can not) For Dr. Chere, it is not a matter of the time you use to recharge that matters the most. The most important parts of recharging are what you do and are they working for you. Anything from putting on a full face of makeup to taking a much-needed nap can recharge you. There will be some who need to recharge their body through better nutrition. Eating healthier options will often give a natural boost of energy. This is self-care and you need to ask yourself a few questions. Does it make you feel good?Does it make you feel whole? How often do you need to do this? When is the best time for you to do this? Where can you do this uninterrupted? Are you dealing with false sensations? In this episode, Dr. Chere discussed not just the false sensations we may get from some of the foods that we eat but also the false sensations we get from people and certain scenarios in our lives. That temporary high and drop can drain us as entrepreneurs. A relationship, contract, or even a conversation that creates this feeling is a dangerous one. Often times we allow what haunts us to hurt us. Dr. Chere's gems:1. Be okay with walking away 2. Fill your cup3. Get moving 4. Take responsibility 5. Practice saying "NO"Don't allow self-doubt to bankrupt you! ~ Dr. Chere GoodeDr. Chere M. Marquita Brown is a native of Petersburg, VA.  She holds a bachelor's degree in African American Studies and is a Licensed Practical Nurse. She is also an entrepreneur, mentor, philanthropist, and community advocate who believes in social justice.   She also believes in equality in healthcare and educating African Americans about their health and informing them about the importance of making healthy decisions. Marquita is the owner of Apple for The Day, a health education and health consultation business. It's focus is on the health of all people,  but is mostly concentrated on African American health.  The point of receiving these services is to make sure people have a basic knowledge on their condition. The name came about from the phrase “An apple a day, keeps the doctor away”. Marquita wanted to provide knowledge on health, and instead of having someone retrieve "an apple a day", she wanted to give them "an apple for the day".     She shares that God gave her this vision.  She began her business as a child.  She started by wanting to be a physician, and worked diligently from that time to attain her goal.  As a teenager she began as a hospital volunteer.  From there she volunteered at her pediatrician's office.  That opportunity allowed her to come into the examination room with the doctor and watch as he examined patients from time to time.  In high school she was a part of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and studied her first Black History course.  After graduating high school, Marquita majored in Biology and concentrated in Pre-Medicine, and was eventually offered the chance to intern in a private practice. That experience changed her life.   Marquita has a genuine love for the African American community. She is aware of the need to bring about a change to a group of people without a voice.  She is on a mission to eradicate racism from the healthcare practice.  She shares that without racism, health disparities would not exist.  African Americans receive the least amount of healthcare and tend to only go to the hospital or doctor when it effects their work.  By that time, it may already be too late.     To learn more about Marquita Brown and Apple For The Day, please follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, and Twitter by putting "Apple For The Day" in your search box.   You may also visit their website for more information at www.applefortheday.org   To view the edition of Huami Magazine that Marquita Brown is featured in, please click on the following link: https://issuu.com/terrywatson7/docs/huami_magazine_richmond_jan_2020   To learn more about Huami Magazine please visit our website at www.mykelmedia.com   You may follow Huami Magazine on Facebook and Instagram by putting Huami Magazine in the search box.   You may follow This Is Who I Am on Facebook by putting "This Is Who  I Am" in the search box.   To order your Official Huami Magazine Apparel, please send a detailed email to huamimagazine@gmail.com

Your success in building muscles depends on your food choices, how much you eat and without a doubt the level of your training. Therefore, it is important to thoughtfully consider the food you choose to eat.    Speaking of muscle building, bulking is quite common in bodybuilding. What is bulking? You ask.    Bulking is where you supply your body with excess calories in order to add weight (muscles and fat). It's important to note there are two types of bulking: clean bulk and dirty bulk. Simply put, clean bulking is when you subject your body to clean sources of carbs and dirty bulking is when you subject your body to any food sources including junk to add calories.    These two types of bulking arguably have their own benefits, but which one is the best for you? Let's find out with Ashley Parker.    Ashley Parker is an IFBB Pro. She has been competing a little over a year, and she recently earned her pro card at 2019 NPC Jr. USA Championships where scooped Bikini Overall Champion title. In addition, Ashley is a Licensed Practical Nurse, but she took a break from that to focus on bodybuilding. She currently works at Arie. Her goal is to compete in the Olympia in 2020.     In today's episode, Ashley talks all about dirty bulking and how to put on muscle fast when you're starting from scratch. She is also going to talk about what it's like to finally claim an IFBB Professional title, the sacrifices she has made that have led her to this point, and what it means to be a pro in this sport.    Dive in and get comfortable.     Takeaways Keep going because you did not come this far just for the sake of it Create a better self and create an image for the judges Always work on yourself; always better yourself  Surround yourself with positive people  Always listen to your body Don’t compete with anybody; compete with yourself  Give it your all every time Trust your coach Be coachable Don't compare yourself; everyone is different Take the feedback from judges and apply it  Give your all and trust the process Keep your mind on the end goal   Important questions  [00:10:28] How long have you been competing?  [00:13:33] What keeps you motivated? Accomplished Author, Writer, and Poet Freda Camille from Delaware and New Jersey, beautifully pens her life testimony through lyrics and Delaware, New Jersey, verse in her poetry book The Storms Caused My Faith. This work was self-published in 2004 and the 2nd Edition released in 2014. In collaboration with coauthors of Things I Wish He Knew, Freda becomes transparent and vividly reveals a traumatic event that took place in her life that could have ultimately prevented the maturation of the amazing and successful woman she has become. Freda Camille has been writing for over 30 years. Freda works as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a pediatrician's office, and is a Youth Leader at New Destiny Fellowship Church, Wilmington, Delaware. She mentors young ladies in her community, and has spoken at  treatment facilities in PA, NJ, and youth programs in DE. She uses these moments to become transparent and share her testimony about the various adversities she has overcome in her life such as: rape/molestation, teenage pregnancy, depression, and how she was her mother's care taker due to her mental illness. These are just a few examples of what she experienced in her childhood that almost broke her; however, were the very things that became her strength and caused her to become so passionate about working with young people. Her desire is to encourage those who have endured the sting or stigma of the pain she has. The writings in each of her books provide a safe environment  allowing the reader to connect, identify, and work through experiences which are suppressed.  She wants you to know and see that you can get through it, you can heal, and things will get better.  Freda has also co-written her first stage play This is My Life... get to know me before you judge me!, and has two newly released titles: poetry book To Have and To Hold and children’s book The Key is Me.

I played sports growing up but never loved to run as that the coaches made us do to torture us, so I thought. After college, I ran sporadically. After the birth of my son, I was dark and depressed. A year later, in January of 2010, I needed to do something to feel better. I chose a goal to run a half marathon that April. I bought sneakers & started to run consistently. I ran the half, then a full that November. I didn’t run much after that until 2014 when I began running just to run, to make my head. No music, just me and the sounds of my footsteps. I ran 1000 miles in 2016, each mile outside-not one on a treadmill. Through the heat, the snow and the rain…I ran. I have become a better person through running, not perfect but better. While all of this was going on, my Uncle Yves was suffering. This man who was my ‘crazy’ Uncle, not the craziest but he was crazy, energetic and I just loved him. He worked 22 years in a manufacturing plant in CT where he was exposed to chemicals that he was unaware of. The company was relocating in 1995. Instead of moving, he decided to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide, then a Licensed Practical Nurse specializing in Geriatrics. He loved working with the elderly; they probably laughed at his jokesJ. In 2004, he was so sick. He was vomiting so terribly & was taken to the emergency room. He was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. My Uncle? He didn’t drink, maybe a cocktail at a wedding! The insurance company for the plant made him go to 8 doctors; all provided the same diagnosis of NASH cirrhosis (Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis disease). His liver would not regenerate, and he would need to receive one from a cadaver. He was living a relatively healthy life while waiting until he developed breathing problems, confusion, and stamina problems. In 2009, he had to stop working as a nurse, something he loved dearly. He waited, waited patiently for a liver. In January of 2014, they found a cancerous tumor on his liver. This moves him up on the transplant list rather quickly. Yale New Haven recommended him to NYU in June of 2014. He was so sick; my strong, funny Uncle was now so pale, weak and he couldn’t even sit for a family visit for more than 20 minutes. Seeing him like this just broke my heart every time I saw him. Finally a new liver! He was sent home still weak, on 16 pills a day, twice a day & 9 additional pills, once a day for six months. He had 21 vials of blood work weekly and saw a doctor every two weeks. Now two years after his transplant, he takes three pills a day, twice a day. He sees the doctor every three months. He has been admitted three times to the hospital with complications from complications, BUT he is so much healthier than he had been in the ten years previous to the transplant. Because of the transplant, he walked my little cousin down the aisle in October of 2015. Yesterday, she had a baby girl, and my Uncle was there to hold her. As my Aunt Chris says, LIFE IS GOOD! I am going to run the 2016 NYC marathon for the Chris Klug Foundation to help raise awareness for tissue and organ donation. I was wrong, running is not torture. It provides more life in so many ways. I am lucky to be able to run for my Uncle and my little cousin; that story is for another time.
