How to Grow your Influence with Media Is it your goal to see more supporters and positive engagements but don't understand precisely how to do it? Then, you have to grow and boost your influence with the help of the media. What this implies for your company or business is a validated reputation as an authority in your niche. However, it's worth noting that social influence is established over time and takes constant focus and engagement with your audiences. But the journey is worth it when you start building valuable connections with potential clients. In this video of Video Marketing for Business, I've invited Esther Kiss, the PR and media go-to. She'll share how you can use media to maximize your reach and build your influence as an authority in your niche. Key takeaways covered in the episode: Recognize that credibility is a significant aspect of what video and media can do to help position you as your niche's authority. Understand that a two-pronged approach of having credibility with the big brand media and doing online media is where most people see the best results. Presentability is the key. It's a rule of thumb to be always presentable. Be continuously reminded to offer a golden nugget. Allow your audience to learn something new from you because that's how trust is built and how they start buying from you. Implement your strategies based on the principle that messaging is a vital part of monetization, and consistency and exposure create that omnipresence. When you know your audience and your message, you can then use retargeting strategies to promote your interviews — it can be very powerful.

Esther Kiss (https://www.linkedin.com/in/esther-kiss-650b301a/) is our special guest on today's episode of Traffic and Leads Podcast (http://trafficandleadspodcast.com). She is the founder of Born To Influence (http://borntoinfluence.com)—a PR marketing company that specializes in working with experts and people who are building a personal brand (marketers, entrepreneurs, authors, speakers)—Esther gives us all of the best tips and tricks she’s learned over the years about perfecting your marketing strategy, and what makes the best PR marketing strategy work so well. Let’s get started! IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: * All about what Esther does with her company. By working closely with entrepreneurs, speakers, authors, consultants, marketers, and so much more, Esther helps them get more traffic and leads through publicity. With her connections, she gets them in with the media (blogs, television, podcasts, radio, newspaper, magazines, etc.), and leads them towards whatever makes sense for their business to build credibility and to build leads and sales. * Esther explains why having a good PR strategy is important for more traffic and leads. Depending on where you’re at in your business, you might have different goals for your publicity campaign, and Esther gives us an amazing example of a client she worked with that booked 80 shows over the span of 11 months to promote his book! For every podcast interview he completed, he’d offer a free 50 book give away to audience listeners. Then, when people read the book, they wanted help with the implementation of the method, so they’d sign up for his paid membership! That’s where the revenue comes from. * Esther also explains that PR is important to carry on through months, and not just a one-time thing. If you’re planning a slew of interviews, much like the previously mentioned the client, you want to make sure that you have 3 - 4 months to let leads come in successfully, especially with bigger shows. You need to make sure that you leave enough time for the marketing to start gathering those pre-orders and interactions before the service is available, and the same can be said for a product launch or a live event with a deadline. You need to be building momentum continually. * Esther then explains what to do if you’re a small business owner that can’t afford a publicist. Can you do your own PR strategy? Yes, of course, you can! You can always benefit from publicity no matter where you are, even if you’re just getting started and you don’t have any clients yet. How are you going to get clients if you don’t have traction is the real question, and Esther encourages people to reach out—learn how to pitch, how to develop relationships with members of the media. Once you know these things, and once you feel like you have a story that would contribute to that audience, pitch yourself and recommend that you do an interview! * Esther tells us what to do when people doubt the usefulness of media logos on your website, claiming it’s just for vanity. She gives us an example of a client who had media logos on their website, and because of them, they gained a client. It psychologically works on people even if you don’t realize it. * Esther also explains that a lot of times, people tend to release a paid press release when they want a quick win and aren’t willing to put in the energy and effort required to get real results. Playing Small Moment Esther was notoriously shy, so shy she was given the nickname, Pinky. Unsure of the reasoning behind her given nickname, assuming it was because of her favorite color, Esther inquired of her ex-boyfriend and was told it was due to her excessive blushing. Even one of her teachers told her to stop being so scared. When Esther acted, or was on camera, she could behind someone else’s words. When she launched her own podcast, it was time to step up and stop being shy. The Wake Up Call When Esther was unsure of what her business was going to consist of, she would do small projects while still acting and day trading. Esther knew she could continue to do the small projects while she kept an open mind about her business and not pressure herself too much to have it all figured out now. Style of Leadership Esther sees her leadership as straightforward with an easy going style. She likes to be nice to people, but she is also very, very clear. When Esther makes a request, she suggests that the client and her have a Skype call and always makes sure that she always makes sure to be clear of all expectations and an gives her clients an easy out. What Are You Excited About? Esther is working on transitioning more into coaching. She is currently preparing a done-for-you package for those with a specific set of skills who are looking to step into the spotlight. In addition, Esther is looking to add more coaching to her business for those who can’t justify hiring a publicist but want to learn those skills themselves. Current Business Challenge Esther is at a point where she is doing the done-for-you packages and can take less clients, but also gearing up the coaching side. This presents a bit of a time management problems for her. Esther is currently trying to hire and delegate more. She does work with a virtual assistant team, but hopes to work more with one person. Your Support System Esther works with her virtual assistant team and a publicist that she works with more on a project-by-project basis. Esther still does the pitches and follow ups herself, but she uses a publicist to make phone calls or send emails for the occasions where her clients want to be on television or radio. Leadership Practice Esther believes in not thinking too much. When she is clear on a goal, she tends not to overanalyze it. We met Esther in the middle of 2015. Upon getting to know her, I realized how much impact she could make on my business and those of her clients. When discussing an interview, I wanted to talk about her role in Public Relations (PR). What I didn't expect was a game changing discussion about business, and how important the role of PR in scale and success. We often believe we have to do it all, but when we entrust our promotion to a partner like Esther amazing things happen. We're free to create and innovate, while her approach literally does the heavy lifting of building a following and a solid reputation. You may go into this apathetic about PR, but you'll walk out a fan of what's possible. Esther Kiss is the producer and host of the popular podcast Born To Influence: The Marketing Show where she interviews highly successful entrepreneurs and NY Times bestselling authors about their marketing and PR strategies. She has interviewed guests such as Gary Vaynerchuk, Perry Marshall, Joe Pulizzi, Jay Baer and more. You may have the best product, service or advice in the world, but if nobody knows who you are, what you do or how you help them, you don't really have a business. Advertising helps you get noticed, but it requires a significant investment (plus people tend to trust ads less and less these days). That's where Publicity comes in and helps to "bring home the bacon" (Sorry, couldn't resist) Publicity is a very wide field and is often times confusing. It rarely has a direct and measurable ROI (return on investment) and many business owners don't know how to do it correctly, thus they fail to use publicity at all. That's why I asked renown publicity expert, Esther Kiss, to be on the show today and share her strategies and insights with you. Esther Kiss is the producer and host of the popular podcast Born To Influence where she interviews highly successful entrepreneurs and NY Times bestselling authors about their marketing and PR strategies. She helps her clients integrate their publicity and marketing strategies so they enhance each other for tremendous growth. Esther also helps entrepreneurs set up wildly successful "Podcast Publicity Tours" and has organized multiple bestselling book launches for her clients. With that said, publicity is not for everyone. You and your business have to be ready for it if you want to get the best results. That's why Esther developed a fun quiz you can take for free to assess what you stand to gain and how to maximize your ROI on your publicity. The demands of having to contribute to the simultaneous growth and expansion of several businesses (that are located in a multitude of countries and are owned and managed by only a handful of people) gave Esther the experience and skills to spot time saving and additional money making opportunities in small businesses in a variety of industries. A graduate of both the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Webster University's Business School, Esther enjoys combining her performing skills and business savvy. Always committed to excellence and extreme diligence, in addition to graduating Magna cum Laude, Esther was the only one in her class to graduate with special honors from the University's business department. Going back to her roots (creating a solid foundation for growth in business), Esther combines it with working with entrepreneurs with big dreams. Enjoying the process of giving back, Esther pays it forward by mentoring entrepreneurs how to get high paying ideal clients. Her philosophy is that if you can provide true long term transformation to your clients with your expertise, you should focus on the top 20% of your market with all its benefits and rewards.
