This Saturday on Vintage Classic Radio's "Saturday Matinee", we kick off with a nostalgic return to Riverdale in the "Archie Andrews" episode titled "Halloween Party" from October 30th, 1948. In this lively episode, chaos and comedy ensue as Archie and his friends plan and execute a Halloween party, complete with costumes, pranks, and the usual misunderstandings. The cast includes Bob Hastings as Archie Andrews, Harlan Stone as Jughead Jones, Alice Yourman as Archie's mother Mary Andrews, Arthur Kohl as his father Fred Andrews, Gloria Mann as Veronica Lodge, and Rosemary Rice as Betty Cooper. Following Archie and his gang, we'll tune into the "Blondie and Dagwood" show for their episode "Blondie and the Halloween Spirit" from October 27th, 1948. The Bumsteads are swept up in Halloween festivities, with Dagwood trying to outdo the neighbours in Halloween decorations and Blondie managing the chaos while ensuring the kids enjoy the spooky holiday. The episode features Penny Singleton as Blondie Bumstead, Arthur Lake as Dagwood Bumstead, Larry Simms as their son Alexander, and Daisy the dog brings her own charm to the family antics. We conclude with a special treat from "Philco Radio Time" broadcasted on October 29th, 1947, featuring the iconic Boris Karloff and Victor Moore. In this memorable episode, Karloff brings his classic horror persona to radio, providing a mix of chills and laughs, while Victor Moore adds a comedic contrast that keeps the audience both amused and on edge. Bing Crosby leads the cast with his usual charm and warmth, accompanied by John Scott Trotter and his Orchestra, lending the show a musical flair alongside the thrilling guest performances. Join us for these three back-to-back episodes for a mix of humour, nostalgia, and a touch of spookiness this Saturday on Vintage Classic Radio.
150 Years Ago (August 1874) When a traveler near the Pacific Hotel hired Theodore Morrison for $1 [about $28 today] to row him to Cornwall, Leonard Schegel offered to do it for 75 cents. The hacks argued; after Schegel struck Morrison with his cane, Morrison shoved him. That's when Schegel's son, James, threw a rock that hit Morrison in the forehead. James was charged with assault, but a jury found no cause for action against his father. A granite crosswalk was laid across Main Street from Garden Street to Kemble Avenue. The Cold Spring Recorder soon after complained that the contractors had not removed the chippings and blocks, creating a hazard that required nearby store owners to keep their lanterns on. Moyse opened a store near the Sunk Mine and, in a display of his service, pushed a barrel of flour and a ham in a wheelbarrow for half a mile to a customer's door. Nine members of the Jubilee Singers of Wilmington, North Carolina, visited the Methodist Church. The Recorder assured readers that those expecting a "vulgar" minstrel would be disappointed; instead, the singers performed "those peculiar songs of the Negro camp meeting, which express a distinct religious idea, although grotesquely worded." A woman who fell off the gangplank of an excursion steamer at the dock was quickly lifted from the river because the tide was high. A rumor that James Ruddiman had drowned spread for four hours until he showed up. A canal boat sank in 15 feet of water at the wharf. It required eight hydraulic pumps to raise but its coal remained on the deck. At his discretion, the town assessor added $30,000 [$825,000] to the value of the New York City & Hudson River Railroad property. The Recorder editor lamented that documentation of the early history of Philipstown was sparse. "Little can be found upon the records but the brief entries concerning the elections of officers and the laying out of roads," he wrote. A Steiner Repeating Fire Extinguisher salesman left samples of its portable home unit with two merchants. W. Foster, of the Kellogg Base Ball Club, was applauded after he leaped aboard a riderless wagon on Main Street, grabbed the reins and brought the horse to a stop. After drinking three beers at a Cold Spring saloon and taking the train home to Garrison, Morris Osborne was struck and killed while walking on the tracks. A station agent found his body at 4:30 a.m. In a letter to The Recorder, a reader noted that Osborne and three other local "drunkards" had died since Jan. 1 and called on the village to enforce its temperance laws. While playing with his children, John Hustis stepped on an iron garden rake and was severely injured by a tooth that went through his shoe. E.J. Pierce, a female physician from the Highlands Medical Institute in Newburgh, delivered a "lecture for ladies" at Town Hall. A young man named Levy was standing at the railroad station when a mailbag tossed from the 9:46 a.m. express knocked the pipe from his mouth. Although the pump at the depot had been repaired, The Recorder noted that the cup was so often missing that thirsty travelers had to borrow the one in the ladies' room. Harry Porter, 8, drowned after falling from the decaying dock on West Street. Three men dove into the muddy, oily water and Capt. George Wise threw a scap net until its iron ring caught on the boy's leg. He was pulled out, but 15 minutes had passed. Isaac Finch, a former Cold Spring resident who moved to Oregon, mailed the editor of The Recorder 8-foot-tall spires of timothy grass. An intoxicated Gilbert Christian was arrested after making a scene inside a Nelsonville store by insisting he could lick any Irishman in town. Nichols and Mckeel constructed a black walnut numismatic cabinet for James Nelson that had 21 drawers. Owen & Webb painted their store on Stone Street to resemble a brownstone. 125 Years Ago (August 1899) While cleaning his bicycle, Fred Andrews lost the end of a finger in the rear sprocket. A horse kicked Frank Warren...

Season 2 is here! This season of Riverdale is somehow already outdoing the insanity of the first, and something tells me it's only going to get more schlock-y. In this episode we learn the fate of Fred Andrews after the tragic shooting at Pop's diner, and learn that Archie would wear a kilt at his wedding. Glad to be back folx.

Find us at: iTunes Spotify Patreon CW: Gaslighting, faked suicide, parental abuse, false imprisonment, vigilante violence, grief, loss of a parent, childhood trauma, confronting past trauma, blood, suggested animal cruelty, suggested brutal assault. Starting this season, we knew that Archie's uncle was going to be appearing, that Jughead would find his grandfather, and that somehow, some way, Alice Cooper was going to escape The Farm. And all of that happened, but not nearly in the order we had thought. This season has been about digging deeper, about getting to core pressure points for our characters and poking them constantly. For once, the gang has been given perspective, and while many are continuing the path they've already pursued, they're also struggling to understand. We thought the loss of Fred Andrews might ruin this show; instead, it seems they've re-doubled their efforts to make something a little deeper and a little more subtle, even if Edgar Evernever plans to fly a self-made rocket off an abandoned hotel roof. That, and the fact that Betty Cooper might have just unleashed a force we haven't seen since season one. We're tying together loose threads for some arts and crafts this week in The Doghouse! I’ll be honest, I’ve always been a Brandon Walsh girl over Dylan McKay! I have to say, I just watched Netflix’s Riverdale episode, and how they honour Fred Andrew (who was played by Luke Perry). I have to say… WOW! They really nailed it! How they handled Luke Perry’s death, was absolutely beautiful. The writers truly honoured Luke Perry and the audience that grew up with him. We got to truly mourn his death (here is a little photo tribute). My sister and I were bawling throughout the entire episode. These writers were definitely thinking with their hearts and that level of empathy was so evident. We actually felt like we attended his funeral and got to say goodbye to him. They invoked so many memories and really helped us along the journey. There were a few hidden surprises, that just took our breath away. This got me thinking about how this is a great example of design thinking. First of all, we all hear the words design thinking but it’s hard to envision and understand. Design Thinking is Human- Centered design, versus system centered. The Riverdale show writers, really understood their target market. Having all the Riverdale parents being teen idol stars from the 80’s, we know from Luke Perry, Molly Ringwald, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Robin Givens & Mädchen Amick. They really kept the audience in mind when writing this episode. They really understand & understood their target audience and the different audience personas. Which means that every piece of content speaks to the audience personas. Which is exactly why this Riverdale episode and the funeral of Fred Andrews (aka Luke Perry) was such a big deal. How they handled this so tastefully, will encourage even more loyalty. Design Thinking provides a hybrid approach to problem solving. It does not just look at data analytics and science, it also uses emotions and intuition. Design Thinking really provides a hands-on-approach to problem solving. Not just researching on a computer or google to problem solve. It wants you to get out their on the field to talk to people to ‘hear’ & ‘understand’. Less talk and more action. It’s an iterative process, where we seek to understand the user, challenge ‘same-old’ assumptions , and redefine problems to identify additional opportunities. Design Thinking is a total shift to the mindset. There are lots of times that we get caught up in meetings and not actually talking to people that would be impacted. We make decisions without doing early testing. Designing the solution in real-time with the actual end users (aka people that will be using their solution), is where you will hit that sweet spot. Here are some tips for you to start to embrace design thinking Know thy audience, including audience Personas – get to truly understand your audience. What are they struggling with? What are worked well before? What doesn’t? Learn from Failures – so try and test early. Get out there and listen and learn. Don’t just sit there and google to do research. Design Thinking goes beyond a computer, it goes back to the basics (pre-internet time). Just get out there and talk to people! Embrace Ambiguity – don’t be afraid of not knowing things. This is where many folks fall victim to ‘Imposter Syndrome’. Look at the gaps and unknowns as clues. Play detective and enjoy the mystery. It will allow you to be open to hearing and exploring new possibilities. One of my favourite quotes “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”― Thomas A. Edison Iterate & continuously improve – don’t develop something and go into a black box, until you finish developing everything. Touch base with your customers/target audiences frequently, grab their feedback to improve things throughout the process. I hope this helps. I’ve also included a free little checklist to help you find questions to gather feedback. Just click here REFLECTIONS AFTER ACTION REVIEW. It takes 10 minutes to do a reflection to thinking. Let me know what your thoughts are. Best Always, Sapna
Find us at: iTunes Spotify Patreon CW: Death, Death of a parent, car accidents, grief, Luke Perry's death, funeral, funeral home This week, Riverdale used its season premiere to simply and plainly mourn the loss of one of its most beloved actors and characters with one of its best episodes ever. Seriously, you almost can't call this a Riverdale episode for the sincerity and vulnerability all of the actors tapped into. The writing does a perfect job of blending the characters' emotions and feelings with the actors, mourning both Fred Andrews and Luke Perry without ever making moments feel unearned. It's beautiful, and we're crying about it, and there's a LOT of feelings to get through this week. Season 4 of Riverdale began with a touching tribute to late actor, Luke Perry. Instead of diving into the twisted happenings of the sordid small town, the show found a thoughtful way to kill off the character, Fred Andrews. Plus, there was an emotional cameo from fellow '90210' star, Shannen Doherty. Subscribe to Riverdale Rewind podcast on iTunes, Stitcher and GooglePlay and follow the hosts: Just Jess & Nomi Burton
No matter how zany the last season of Riverdale got, it was always under the somber shadow of the sudden and untimely passing of Luke Perry. Perry’s performance as Fred Andrews was like a constant warm hug, which made him the true beating heart of Riverdale. Respectfully, the show proceeded as planned with season three, taking its time to craft a proper goodbye to the actor who felt like a father to the entire cast. Which brings us to “In Memoriam,’ Riverdale’s fourth season premiere that doubles as a loving ode to Luke Perry, written by showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. As is tradition, our podcast Dial M For Maple returns with the season to recap the moving episode and to say goodbye to Perry. Plus, hosts Marah and Cameron piece together clues from the summer about what’s in store for the gang this year, and Cameron shares a story about his momentary brush with Lili Reinhart. Listen, we're good at a lot of things, but making this an hour episode is NOT one of them! Because this episode features the one and only JON BLAIR! Season is starting off ROUGH! We've gone from the murder of Jason Blossom to Fred Andrews getting shot in the chest by a mysterious man in a black hood (not a ski mask!). Fred gets rushed off to Silent Hill General Hospital where he proceeds to embark on a David Lynch style vision quest for his life! Meanwhile, Archie's spiralling into his circles and can't cope with anything, and the gang's just trying to process a man dying with their teenage struggles. Cheryl RISES (from the ashes of Thornhill) this episode, and Jughead gets a Motorcycle... It's WILD! Will Fred recover from this gunshot despite the ineptitude of Dr Masters? Is Jughead going down a dangerous path? WHO SAID "EXCUSE ME?" Of course, but just barely, LOL YEAH, and WE'LL NEVER KNOW!!! For around 50 years Fred Andrews was a fixture in the stables at the Ekka. In the early 70s he was a harness racing competitor before spending 40 years as an RNA trotting and swabbing steward. He retired last year aged 92 and this year he has been honoured as an official Ekka Legend. Fred tells Mark that if his blood pressure hadn’t let him down he’d still be working in the stables at the exhibition.

feat guest: Jeff Even though we were sad to see this episode was too action-packed to give us any good Bughead moments, we have fun going along for the ride as the Jones family embarks on a quest to save Jellybean from the Gargoyle King. We have a multitude of reactions to all the variously absurd and jaw-dropping pieces of information that Betty’s investigation and Toni’s infiltration reveal about the Farm. (Evelyn’s old! Sister Wives! The cult is trying to trap Betty by slowly recruiting each of her friends and family members?! How many cult tropes can the Farm do?!!) Sadly, with a final epic performance, we say “see you later!” to Josie McCoy in this universe as she departs for Katy Keene, and *sniff* say a very somber goodbye to Fred Andrews, as this was Luke Perry’s final episode he filmed. In ship news, we bid a bittersweet farewell to Archosie and speculate about whether Varchie feelings may be rekindling. And finally, Jeff gets very angry that Elio is attempting to prosecute Archie for Randy Ronson dying in the ring, because - as Jeff passionately yells - “THAT’S NOT HOW FIGHTING WORKS!” Oh, and BONUS: Juniper and Dagwood inspire an impassioned Jeff PSA about why you shouldn’t name your kids wild names. In this latest marvellous and riveting episode we are going to first travel into the cold, quiet and overcrowded outer space. That’s right, we are going into earth orbit and visiting the ISS (International Space Station) where Space X has just docked the new Dragon Capsule. This is the next step in a flight to the moon in 2023, still trying to get a ticket if anyone has one. The capsule was only a test with a dummy aboard, and no, not Trump. Next up is the fast approaching final season of Game of Thrones – season 8 – with what is looking like a record breaking battle scene that took weeks to film. This is expected to be more epic than Helms Deep, even the extended edition. Then we look at the fact that Anthem is hard crashing consoles and systems around the world. Cue the music “Queen – Another One Bites The Dust.” That’s right folks, EA has struck again, and this time it gets personal with systems and consoles being bricked by this latest screw up. There is mention of compensation floating around, so hopefully word will spread before too many systems are wrecked. Then we have the games of the week, the weekly shout outs, birthdays, remembrances and events of interest from this week in history. As always we would welcome any feedback, suggestions or whatever. Until next week, stay safe, look out for each other and stay hydrated.EPISODE NOTES:SpaceX Docking - https://www.news.com.au/technology/science/space/hard-capture-is-complete-spacex-capsule-docks-with-international-space-station/news-story/570efb7ec61650520a5ccef2732229dbGame of Thrones Season 8 - https://bgr.com/2019/03/04/game-of-thrones-season-8-spoilers-the-battle-of-winterfell-detailed/Anthem shuts consoles down - https://twistedvoxel.com/anthem-full-system-level-crashes-refund/Games Currently playingBuck– Skyrim - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - https://store.steampowered.com/app/72850/The_Elder_Scrolls_V_Skyrim/DJ– Apex Legends - https://www.ea.com/games/apex-legendsProfessor– Tetris 99 - https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/tetris-99-switchOther topics DiscussedSoyuz (Russian spacecraft)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soyuz_(spacecraft)Soyuz Space Crew Launch Failure 2018- https://www.space.com/42117-soyuz-abort-crew-launch-failure-2018-coverage.htmlTrump congratulating SpaceX- https://www.space.com/trump-hails-spacex-crew-dragon-success.htmlTrump’s Apple Blunder- https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/world/donald-trump-makes-awkward-blunder-with-apple-ceos-name/video/971ea09386b95981d3cfe0c6396000f8?nk=566c96d427a8dc7faa082c6bd4a1a92c-1551954567- https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/06/president-trump-calls-apple-ceo-tim-apple-instead-of-tim-cook.htmlNASA leadership- https://www.nasa.gov/nasa-leadership/Delta-v (change in velocity)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delta-vUS Army’s No Kill AI Public Relations move- https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/03/us-army-assures-public-that-robot-tank-system-adheres-to-ai-murder-policy/Blue Origin Grasshopper rockets- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grasshopper_(rocket)- https://www.theverge.com/2015/11/24/9793220/blue-origin-vs-spacex-rocket-landing-jeff-bezos-elon-muskSpace industry in South Australia- https://www.spaceconnectonline.com.au/launch/2116-south-australia-uniting-space-industry-for-crcHow Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are related- https://www.thisisinsider.com/game-of-thrones-jon-snow-and-daenerys-targaryen-related-aunt-nephew-2017-3Walking 10,000 steps per day- https://www.livescience.com/43956-walking-10000-steps-healthy.htmlComparisons between Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Battle of Helm’s Deep and Games of Thrones Battle of Winterfell- http://www.darkhorizons.com/thrones-final-battle-to-outdo-helms-deep/Mass Effect 3 (2012 video game)- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_Effect_3Brain Bug (Starship Troopers Arachnid)- https://starshiptroopers.fandom.com/wiki/Brain_BugWindows 98 rollover bug- https://www.cnet.com/news/date-rollover-bug-in-windows-98/Anthem Demo problems- https://www.polygon.com/2019/1/27/18199405/anthem-vip-demo-down-bioware-fix-infinite-loading-errors-pc-ps4-xbox-oneUhtred (Last Kingdom character)- https://the-last-kingdom.fandom.com/wiki/UhtredHidden chamber found under the Great Pyramid of Giza- https://www.news.com.au/technology/science/archaeology/scientists-discover-hidden-chamber-in-the-great-pyramid-of-giza/news-story/d6afdc5ca473b80f9eee689b19b1f3e1Shoutouts4 Mar 2019 - Playstation 2 turns 19 - https://www.siliconera.com/2019/03/04/playstation-2-celebrates-its-19th-birthday-today-what-were-your-favorite-ps2-games/4 Mar 2019 – John Candy died 25 years ago - https://www.thespec.com/whatson-story/9202816-john-candy-s-enduring-legacy-25-years-after-his-death/5 Mar 1558 - Smoking tobacco introduced into Europe by Spanish physician Francisco Fernandes - http://www.stevenlberg.info/today/18765 Mar 1953 - Mass Murderer Stalin Goes to His Grave - https://www.onthisday.com/articles/mass-murderer-stalin-goes-to-his-graveRemembrances4 Mar 2019 – Luke Perry, American actor who played as Dylan McKay on the TV series Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1990 to 1995, and again from 1998 to 2000. R.I.P. Luke Perry. It's been a tough week for many in the wake of such heartbreaking news, but Riverdale nobly marches on. And while Dial M For Maple dutifully recaps the fiery "Fire Walk With Me" (a surprisingly literal episode title), our podcast cedes much of its time to honor the life and legacy of the late, great Luke Perry, Riverdale's very own Fred Andrews. Hosts Marah and Cameron tell stories from when they were lucky enough to bask in the actor's warm, generous glow. Plus, we share some writing from the cast and the internet at large that truly highlight what a unique, charming, and selfless person Luke Perry really was. He will be sorely missed. On this week's episode of Midnight at Pop's, we (Gissane Sophia and Meredith Loftus) take a different route in our recapping to talk about the now late Luke Perry and our hopes for what's to come when the show remembers Fred Andrews. This wasn't an easy podcast to record as Perry's shocking death this week has had such a huge affect on the lives of many. We hope you are doing well in the wake of it all. Sending our love and prayers to his family, friends, cast, crew, and all affected. He will be sorely missed.

Luke Perry has left us way too soon. Many people who worked with Perry, who died of a massive stroke at the age of 52, are heartbroken and grief-stricken. Riverdale has shut down so that the cast and crew can mourn Perry, who played Archie's father Fred Andrews. I'm even broken up about it, and I met Perry once, for maybe 3 minutes, over 20 years ago. It turns out that it's way to easy for the good to die young, and while you should always appreciate your life and your friends and loved ones, read this if you're wondering why strokes are even more dangerous for young men like Perry than for the elderly, here's the very sad explanation: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2019/03/04/luke-perry-death-stroke-middle-age-adult-centers-disease-control/3057585002/ In happier news, the world premiere of Captain Marvel is tonight (even though there was already a world premiere in the UK, but everything on that side of the pond is a bit confusing at the moment - not that we in the US have any claim of normalcy). While they were overseas, Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson appeared on the Jonathan Ross Show. Ross, a lifelong comics fan, enjoyed Larson and Jackson's take on the song "Shallow" from A Star is Born. You can watch that here: https://youtu.be/3BucpXwaZHg And for the spoiler-ific concept art from Captain Marvel, that suggests a huge secret that could change everything about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's past and future, check this out: https://www.cbr.com/captain-marvel-concept-art-fury-skrull/ Thanks for checking out tonight's episode - make sure to subscribe to the show, and to leave ratings and reviews! This was not the Episode 99 that we wanted or expected. Russ brings the Archie Digest: A Riverdale Podcast hosts together for the first time this season to remember Luke Perry, the actor who played Fred Andrews on Riverdale. Perry passed away on Monday at age 52 following a stroke last week. Russ, Craig Byrne, and Chris Hayner all had positive experiences to relate about meeting and working with Perry, and ECV is sending warm feelings and deep condolences out to his family. Next episode, everything changes.
KTM and Husqvarna are the dominant players in the off-road racing game, but there was a time when brands like Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha ruled the roost through the rocks and roots. But when several Japanese brands shuttered their programs during the global recession of the late 2000s, the European marques doubled down on off-road. For 2019, Kawasaki has revived its old Team Green off-road squad, shifting the Monster Energy Babbitt's Online Kawasaki team from the now-defunct Amsoil Arenacross series into Grand National Cross Country. Fred Andrews spent nearly a decade racing GNCC for Team Green, and then ran the factory program until it closed. Now that Kawasaki is back, so is Fast Freddie, who will run the outfit along with the Babbitt's team. In this podcast, Jason Weigandt calls up Andrews for tales of building the new team, and also some old war stories from his racing days. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

We were not kind to this episode! If you felt as bewildered as we did, join us as we rag on the clunky storytelling that has characterized this season so far, then ask hard-hitting questions like: what exactly happened between F.P. and Gladys Jones? Why can't Fred Andrews parent his 16 year-old son? Are there any medical doctors in Riverdale or just coroners? And how exactly is this town's iconic nunnery/insane asylum/gay conversion therapy program set up?
“They’re gonna play Gryphons and Gargoyles in Saturday detention a la Breakfast Club with Anthony Michael Hall as the principal, apparently.” -Maria “That’s a wild sentence. And if anyone who didn’t watch this show just all of a sudden heard that clip, they would be like, ‘what the fuck is Riverdale about??’ But that’s why I love Riverdale” - Rebecca It’s here! The much-anticipated flashback episode! We have so much to say about ALL the parents’ sad origin stories (which explain why they’re awful parents we guess?), Sierra and Tom’s beautiful star-crossed lovers story, the unclear nature of the Alice pregnancy timeline, and how much we still love Fred Andrews even in the early 90s! We speculate wildly about who we think the Gargoyle King is after Alice finishes her story, and talk all about how the young actors took on the challenge of portraying their parents! #SaveJughead As always, check out our bodysuit looks on Insta at bodysuits4bughead or Twitter at B4B_Podcast.
Episode 1.02: Make Riverdale Great Again We shipped Season 1 of Riverdale hardcore: Bughead, possible twincest, implied motorcycles, rad dad Fred Andrews…the list goes on. So what the heck happened to Season 2?! (Spoiler alert: we theorize perhaps lead poisoning or a carbon monoxide leak in the writers room). Whatcha Watchin' This Week: Rhi breaks the fourth wall with "House of Lies;" Jamie Lynn solves the mystery of "The Staircase" (He's innocent!...Is he innocent?) and shares her Pro Tip: use "The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale" to shop for new shows to watch. It's time for Riverdale Chapter 28 - There Will Be Blood. The season takes a step away from horror to jump into the even more terrifying genre local politics as the Lodge's suggest Fred Andrews run for mayor. We also find out that Clifford Blossom had a secret will along with a twin brother. Plus, we get a visit from Polly who brings her twin babies with her and gets to meet her apparent creepy half-brother. Meanwhile, Jughead is on the case! The boy wonder is investigating issues around town and establishing conspiracy theories.
Ross and Ej dive into season 2 chapter 14: a kiss before dying. The aftermath of last season has left Fred on the verge of life and death. Fred Andrews is rushed to the hospital and Archie wishes he could have done something to stop the black hood.
It's finally arrived, Riverdale Chapter 35 "Brave New World", and Kyle and Noah are here to discuss! Jughead lives, but the Serpents are worse for the wear, and with Sheriff Minetta moving on the White Wyrm, they make their escape to the Northside of Riverdale, welcomed by Archie and Fred Andrews. Betty struggles with the guilt of her father being the Black Hood and understanding the Darkness within her, while Polly makes a mysterious play for the members of The Farm. Veronica attempts to block her father's acquisition of the White Wyrm, striking a deal for Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe. Finally, Archie rallies the students of Riverdale High to keep the Serpents in school, confronts Hiram Lodge about all he knows, and is then struck down as he reaches his peak. All this, plus general thoughts on Season 2, some unapproachable RPG talk, and general plans for Sabrina and Season 3! Thank you all for your support, we look forward to stuff we have planned for the break, the eventual release of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and a lot more! Not Your Mother's Archie - The Mom & Son Riverdale Review Podcast
It's an episode you'll never forget as Janet and Jimmy discuss Chapter 31: "A Night to Remember." In it, they surmise that Fred Andrews is a one-person crew, cast Janet in the show, and discuss why this musical episode is the best piece of television they've ever seen...ever! Plus, the mom and son duo try to answer the question: why don't all books have pictures? Follow Janet ( @gma_robertson ) and Jimmy ( @jimmy_robertson ) on Twitter. Don't forget to use the hashtag #NYMApod to discuss and share the show! No matter what they discuss, this mom and son duo can at least agree on one thing: this is not your mother's Archie.
Listen to us watch Riverdale 2x16 - “Chapter Twenty-Nine: Primary Colors,” as we cheer on Mary Andrews putting Archie in his place, gush about our WOKE BAES divesting-from-private-prisons-Fred Andrews and direct-action-guru Jughead Jones, freak out over Cheryl’s fate, and SO MUCH MORE b/c this was a jam-packed episode and we LOVED. IT! Oh, and once again because ya can’t say it enough: fuck private prisons! (Spoilers inside; watch the episode first!) Feat. a couple observations from our friend Hailey McInnes! As always, check out our bodysuit looks at our insta, @bodysuits4bughead and the bodysuit thread on our Twitter @B4B_Podcast.
After a brief hiatus Noah and Kyle are back for another Double-Feature! The boys cover Riverdale Chapters 28, "There Will Be Blood," and 29, "Primary Colors," back-to-back, delving into the machinations of the Lodge Family and their plans for the Southside of Riverdale. Jughead discovers the Lodges plan to build a For-Profit Prison on the site of Southside High School, while they try to convince Fred Andrews to become Mayor, much to Archie's concern. Betty discovers the truth about Chic, and Cheryl's relationship with Toni grows as a sinister plot boils in Thistlehouse!
There's a lot going on in Riverdale. The question is - does any of it matter?A fairly polarizing episode from our co-hosts this week. Maud's excited by the crazy developments (maybe a return of a deceased relative) but Mac...Mac's not into it so much. Between the very low-stakes mafia issues of the Lodges, the gooberish political aspirations of Fred Andrews, or the persistent face of teenage detective work, Betty Drew, there's a LOT going on. Just...does it mean anything? You can email us with feedback at macintoshandmaud@gmail.com, or you can connect with us on Instagram (macintosh.and.maud) and Facebook. If you like the podcast, make sure to subscribe and review on iTunes or your favorite podcatcher, and tell your friends. Join us for a very special (if somewhat belated) holiday episode of Radio Free Riverdale. We've reached the mid-season finale of Riverdale's second season: episode 9, "Silent Night, Deadly Night." The holidays have arrived, but no one wants to see the Black Hood coming down their chimney. Will the Archie-Veronica and Jughead-Betty break-ups last? How will Fred Andrews pay his bill? And how long has Nana Rose Blossom had a red streak in her hair? We also discuss: Serpent justice and gang laws the Pacino-esque qualities of Skeet Ulrich just how much a diner costs Panettone, the biggest bread, ultimate Christmas treat and, of course ... plausible deniability All this and more is wrapped up in a neat little package of Episode 23 of Radio Free Riverdale. Oh, come all ye faithful and gather 'round the podcast machine!
On this episode of THE RIVERDALE REGISTER, a very sleepy John and a very awake Kaitlin talk Black Hood theories, that EPIC rain scene, and why Fred Andrews will always be our #1 TV dad.

Janet and Jimmy may be on the opposite ends of the country once again but that doesn't mean the duo doesn't discuss the drastic deviations of this drama. They terribly segue into Janet's happy vigilante circle, an imaginary Scooby-Doo/Riverdale crossover, and how Sheriff Keller & Fred Andrews are the only good parents on the show. Plus, Janet's Fun Facts! Our fundraiser is still going strong until the end of the year! For every review we get on iTunes we'll donate $1 towards organizations that help people affected by this devastating hurricane season, the Las Vegas shooting, and the California wildfires. So, please like, subscribe, and review this podcast. (5 stars, please!) We truly appreciate it. No matter what they discuss, this mom and son duo can at least agree on one thing: this is not your mother's Archie.

For every review we get on iTunes we'll donate $1 towards organizations that help people affected by the devastating hurricane season, especially Puerto Rico. So, please like, subscribe, and review this podcast. (5 stars, please!) We truly appreciate it. No matter what they discuss, this mom and son duo can at least agree on one thing: this is not your mother's Archie.
Jackie and Stephanie are joined by special guest Tali Perelman, who has read all of the Archie comics and only ever watched three TV shows in their entirety: Jane the Virgin, The Great British Baking Show, and Riverdale. Listen in as they discuss the politics of culinary television, realize that Fred Andrews isn't actually dead, and spoil even more of Jane The Virgin (whoops!).
Another Stef joins Jackie and Steph to discuss the actual last episode of the season. Listen along as they mourn Fred Andrews, discuss which characters they hope to see again in season 2, and gab about their favorite relationships -- and also completely spoil Jane the Virgin halfway through (whoops)!
Maple syrup is a big flipping deal in Riverdale. Especially if you're part of the Blossom family. It's such a big deal that an entire red-headed cult is at the Blossom family orchards to discuss the future of the family business. And they might just be recruiting another red-headed upstanding citizen of Riverdale. It's a shame he's too dumb to realize going with them is a BAD idea.In the meantime, Ethel-Barb is back and needs some SERIOUS counseling; Veronica offends Mac's legal sensibilities; Cheryl calls Fred Andrews a DILF (we're not even joking); and the show has a hard time deciding whether it wants to be a teen drama or Twin Peaks.Oh, and Mac and Maud get REAL loopy this episode. Jackie and Stephanie make a few more wild guesses about who murdered Jason Blossom, talk about their favorite (Bughead) and least favorite (Fred Andrews and his two girlfriends) relationships, and swap stories about their very different homecoming experiences!
Jackie and Stephanie try podcasting in the morning, with mixed results! Join as they discuss how much they love Betty and Jughead, how much they still love Fred Andrews, and how much they don't love crazy Alice Cooper!

Season 1 is wrapping up quickly as the mystery of who killed that Blossom Boy comes to its conclusion. Plus, Fred Andrews is a G, Molly Ringwald is still Pretty in Pink, and Archie is still the worst character on his own damn show.
