This week's episode of The MetalSucks Podcast features Chat Pile's Stan and Luther Manhole! In our interview, we discuss what went into following up the impressive God's Country and how the reception to that album was a game changing experience, We also went deep into Uniform's Ben Greenberg involvement in mixing the new album, how improvisation is a key part in creating music for them, and the reason they never have a set list when they perform live. Stin also shares the anxiety that creeps up when his photography becomes the cover art of the band's albums. Petar and Brandon discuss the departure of Mike Dean from C.O.C., Veil of Maya going on hiatus and canceling all touring after this year's Summer Slaughter tour, Jane's Addiction calling it quits again and releasing a single after the announcement, Sammy Hagar getting a key to the Las Vegas strip for some reason, Iron Maiden celebrating 50 years of heavy metal next year, and more nonsense from “fans” as they give Power Trip heat for opening for Pantera. Pagina Oficial: https://www.facebook.com/slaughtertoprevailrus/

A death metal band with a full-scale sonic assault and a sound unique enough to call their own: American Razorgrind.Emerging from Denver, Colorado's fruitful metal scene, ANGELIC DESOLATION is ready to take the world by storm.... Or slit throats in the name of Satan, whichever opportunity comes first. The band's combination of grind, thrash, and death metal, paired with outrageous horror-themed stage antics, makes for a musical presentation that audiences won't soon forget.Dubbing their sound "American Razorgrind," Angelic Desolation released their debut EP Evilgasm in 2014. This was followed by the 2018 full-length Rumpus Time is Over, which carried the band to regional opening slots on Summer Slaughter, Bloodletting North America, and Devastation On The Nation as well as touring in the southwestern United States. Fans of Revocation, Aborted, Cattle Decapitation and the like will appreciate Angelic Desolation's brutal onslaught; Jay Medina spews guttural hatred over Matt Markle's precise guitar riffage, with bassist Chris Young and drummer Max Thunder comprising a forceful rhythm section that drives each sona to its inhuman conclusion.Fresh off the release of their latest ER Quorum Of Unspeakable Curses, this blasphemous outfit has nowhere to go but up. Reviewers said "Those that are more pri to tech death, death metal, or deathgrind ar- going to eat this up." With their upcoming commentary reissue of their most recent releases, Angelic Desolation promises that 2021 will bring more gore, more rage, and even more merciless riffs.Members: Jay Medina - Vocals Chris Young - Bass Matt Markle - GuitarMax Thunder - DrumsDiscography: Evilgasm EP - 2014 Rumpus Time is Over - 2018 Quorum Of Unspeakable Curses - 2020 Drunken Commentary Dual Re-Issue - 2021
We had the pleasure of interviewing Nekrogoblikon over Zoom video! The self-proclaimed "Best Goblin Metal on the Planet" known as Nekrogoblikon have announced their new album The Fundamental Slimes and Humours. The album will arrive April 1. "We're excited to finally release 'This Is It,' the second single from our upcoming albumThe Fundamental Slimes and Humours," the band says. "This was the first song that got completed during the writing/demoing process, meaning it's also the one we've been waiting the longest for you all to hear. Hope you enjoy it!" Los Angeles, California's Nekrogoblikon are melodic hard rock pranksters who deploy gnarly death metal earworms filled with crafty hooks, claw-pumping choruses, lightning-fast riffs, and over the top, EDM-style keyboard flourishes. With their ostentatious goblin hypeman John Goblikon, the band takes cues from hyperbolic horror-metal enthusiasts like GWAR, Finntroll, and Dethklok, while maintaining an affable, self-referential sense of humor. The group's early outings, like 2007's Goblin Island, were largely low-fidelity affairs, but by the early 2010s, Nekrogoblikon were operating at a far higher technical level, and employing a rotating cast of talented players. Founded in 2006, Nekrogoblikon self-produced their debut album, the relatively lo-fi Goblin Island, in a basement. The LP was released in 2007, and an expanded lineup was quickly assembled to help flesh out the fledgling group's audacious live shows. The more technically proficient Stench arrived in 2011, and included the single "No One Survives" — the video written and directed by Brandon Dermer (Panic At The Disco, Every Time I Die, Diplo, Dillon Francis) became a viral hit, and landed the band festival slots at Download Festival in the UK and Rock Im Park/Rock Am Ring in Germany. The Power EP was issued the following year, and in 2014 the band joined Limp Bizkit on the Kerrang! Tour. In 2015 they released the concept LP Heavy Meta via their own Mystery Box label, and in 2018, Nekrogoblikon issued their fourth studio long-player, Welcome to Bonkers, which was followed by extensive touring including performing on the entirety of the final cross-country Vans Warped Tour and Summer Slaughter. In between touring stints, the band (along with Brandon Dermer and writer/actor Dave Rispoli) released 3 seasons of RIGHT NOW, a comedic talk show starring band mascot John Goblikon. The series features a wide array of high profile guests including comedian Bobby Lee, The Used, Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die, Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit, and Joe Trohman from Fallout Boy. Part 2 of our Summer Slaughter Fest, this week the crew dives into notorious female serial killers often known for the hierarchy and reign. Featuring the story of Elizabeth Bathory, known for killing over 600 young girls to keep her youth and beauty using the blood of tortured servant girls. Sleepaway Camp Review This week on the Sordid Cinema Podcast, Ricky D, Patrick Murphy, and Simon Howell travel back to 1983 and review Richard Hiltzik's deeply gay-coded Sleepaway Camp. The crew discusses the many different interpretations of the film and breaks down the very famous theory citing two killers, not one. Meanwhile, Ricky explains why Ricky is one of his all-time favourite characters in a slasher film. Of course, we couldn't review the seminal 80s classic without addressing the controversial, shocking, and some would say brilliant twist ending. All this and more! In honor of the blazing hot summer, the crew is kicking it off with a Summer Slaughter Fest Series. Diving into the worlds less known serial killers, this batch is equally, if not more frightening since some have been released, and others took over two decades to meet justice. From Samuel Little, who is considered to be worse than Ted Bundy and Jeffrey Dahmer, to Colombian child murderers. This is not for the faint of heart as justice is not always served to our liking. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/fear-in-the-southwest/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/fear-in-the-southwest/support

A chat with Nate, Les, Joe, and Kollin of Throne as well as fans Christina, Brian, Steve, Zeek, and Tommy. We begin the fans and their stories of discovering Throne. With new music on the horizon, we talk with Throne about their new album called Pestilent Dawn. This episode is jammed with goodness, including Throne’s creative process, origins in music, first albums, and pineapple on pizza. Grab a beverage and dig into this episode of Fans With Bands with Throne. Throne Links Check out Throne on Bandcamp Follow Throne on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube Fans With Bands Links Subscribe to Fans With Bands on your favorite podcast service such as Apple, Google, Youtube, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Audible, Amazon Music or Stitcher. Christina and Bryan first saw Throne on Road to Summer Slaughter. They loved the energy of the band. Throne even played Bryan’s birthday party which sounds epic. Steve was out at Mac’s in Lansing to support some local bands and caught Throne for the first time. Steve likes to tell people that if Suffocation and Behemoth had a baby, it would be Throne. We all laughed, yet it is very true. Steve is chomping at the bit for live shows to start back up so he can have his new band ( Xorcyst ) open up for Throne as he pities the bands that have to follow them. Zeek’s first encounter was also at Mac’s. His band (Exploding Zombies) was on the bill with Recorruptor and Goatwhore. Upon first hearing Throne, Zeek and his bandmates were asking “Who the F**k are these guys!”. Zeek feels that Throne is at the top of the game and are great representatives of the metal scene. Throne and Pestilent Dawn I asked Throne to give us the background on their upcoming album called Pestilent Dawn. Throne started writing when their EP Altar Of The Dying was released in 2019. They completed recording in May 2020. The album is set to be released by Redefining Darkness Records (which also released the awesome Jesus Wept album - which is another band that includes Nate). I asked if the basic musical direction has changed. Joe and Nate both chimed in that the new music is a lot faster and heavier. How this can be is a mystery we’ll have to wait to unfold and hear for ourselves. I say this because Kollin is a machine on the drums which crank at blazing speeds. How he can go faster is mind-boggling to say the least. Nate also mentioned that Throne is embracing more of their death metal roots with a slightly lessened black metal feel. Les mentioned the X-File riff. Can’t wait to hear that one! Composing music for Throne Bryan asked if there is one main composer who builds all the songs or is it a compilation of all four members. Everyone in Throne agrees that everyone contributes as they build all songs organically in their jam space. However, most of the songs on the first album (Altar of the Dying) were written by Nate as Joe joined the band late in the writing of that album. Les added that the riffs are spawned from the guitars and then built up in layers. Touring with Throne Zeek (who is in the legendary Exploding Zombies) was asking about Throne touring plans and getting on a show or tour with them. Zeek mentioned that Exploding Zombies are in the process of recording and there are some band updates coming soon. Nate mentioned that as soon as Throne can play shows, they will. Evil on Stage When you witness the ferocity of Throne on stage the brutality of the music is physically manifested in the band’s performance. I asked the guys in Throne if they are conscious of their performance or if it is a subconscious expression. Everyone agreed that they channel the music’s energy directly. There is no theater or prescribed performance. The music rules each show. Origins Steve asked when Kollin got started as his drumming skills are extremely impressive. Kollin started as soon as he could hold the drum sticks. The rest of the band have varying levels of immersion in music which spawned their desire to write and record. Joe start out on drums and jumped into guitar in middle school. He’s been jamming ever since. Les is named after Les Paul, so music has been a part of his life from birth. Nate wasn’t into music until he picked up the guitar at 15. He took a few lessons and then taught himself the rest. When you listen to the music of Throne, you’ll hear the musical prowess of this band. First Albums Always a fun topic is hearing what everyone’s first album was. Christina’s was Korn - Follow The Leader. Brian’s first album was from Boyz II Men. We had a good laugh. Brian’s intro to metal came from the local scene including Production Grey, Revile, and Lucifer’s Hammer. Steve’s first album was Metallica’s Ride The Lightning. Seeing Overkill and Sepultura on Headbanger’s Ball set him on the path to play music himself in the local metal scene. For Zeek, it was Black Sabbath’s first album. From there he got into Sepultura and then the lure of death metal drew him in. Thriller from Michael Jackson was Les’s first album. A great choice. Kollin grew up listening to Slayer, Sepultura, and Metallica in his playpen. His first album was The Black album by Metallica. The first album Joe bought was a live CD from Aerosmith. Nate grew up a nu-metal child with LD50 from Mudvayne as his album. Dream Tour I asked each member of Throne who they would like to tour with in a perfect world. The common element is Suffocation. Kollin added that partying with Suffocation would be awesome. In addition to Suffocation, Nate would dig touring with Angelcorpse and Morbid Angel. Les would love touring with Mercyful Fate or King Diamond. For Joe, he’s on board with Suffocation and would be down with touring with Carcass as well. Pineapple? A conversation about his time on Summer Slaughter, the new Cattle Decapitation record Death Atlas, how he got into craft beer, his style of choice, best beer he has had recently & his retirement plan as a microbiologist. This episode was recorded on site at the Heavy Montreal 2019 festival in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Throughout the episode we drank Granville Island Brewing's Double IPA, which was graciously given to me to share with my guests by Marie-Mado Langlois from Brasseur de Montreal. I am super stoked to announce that Vox&Hops will be attending this year's BSC - Bières et Saveurs de Chambly as a media which will be taking place in Chambly Quebec from August 30th - September 2nd!!! I am super excited to share my experience with you during the following week's podcast episode. If you live close to Chambly and like craft beer you should most definitely make the trip! Carnifex vocalist Scott Lewis is the guest on our 300th episode. We discuss the band's new album World War X, the concept behind the record, the importance of the atmospherics and layers to the album's sound, the importance of the visual aesthetic in this album's videos, and how this year's Summer Slaughter tour has been going and why it's working so well. We also discuss Scott's passion for action films, the importance of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, why Tim Burton's vision is not on that same level, modern day feature film directors choosing to go to television instead of doing more features, and the most important contribution to society we have power over as individuals. Petar, Brandon and Jozalyn tackle the Tool cycle of news that came out last week including their music's debut on streaming platforms, Jamey Jasta's comments about Chvrches, argue about the value of legacy bands versus those that draw more on festival slots. Songs: Carnifex - “World War X" and “No Light Shall Save Us” (Featuring Alissa White- Gluz)

Disclamer: just listen to the beginning. This episode has terrible audio quality, possibly due to the fact that I recorded this with 14 PEOPLE IN A VAN heading to Dayton, Ohio. Take it or leave it! If you're new to the show, please don't let this be the barometer of my interviews. It's a bonus episode and presented as-is! Next week's episode will be back to usual quality. *Also, some content warnings, if you're new to the show: - graphic violence and gore - lots of swearing and offensive language - descriptions of drug use - destruction of public property and theft Bands: Skarlett Sky: https://www.facebook.com/SkarlettSkyPGH/ Winter's Descent: https://www.facebook.com/wintersdescent/ Transcendence: https://www.facebook.com/TranscendenceOfficial/ Reign of Z: https://www.facebook.com/ReignofZ/ Oceans to Ash: https://www.facebook.com/OceansToAsh/ And of course, I have to give props to the woman behind who organized this crazy van trip, Julia from Twist of Fate Productions: https://www.facebook.com/TwistofFateProductions/ Because it's hard to hear, I've also listed out everyone's answers for my signature "favorite album" question, since some of the introductions about influences were lost in the audio madness. The following episode is my second attempt at a single mic roaming interview. I basically did a lap around the palladium and happened to walk into Max (Bassist) and Alan (Drummer) both of the Black Dahlia Murder who are headling the 2017 Summer Slaughter Fest. Later on I meet up with Eliot Bayless of Blender Method Productions. We encounter a corpse painted fellow for one of the bands that played today. I then stumble upon the Magnetar Studio crew who is filming the new Dying Fetus, they also did the new Obituary video entitled 'Sentence Day'. I close things out by talking with the dudes who have the best parking space at the fest and then smoke a cigarette with a plumber from NH. https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/The_Black_Dahlia_Murder/5450 http://www.tbdmofficial.com/ https://theblackdahliamurder.bandcamp.com/ https://www.facebook.com/theblackdahliamurderofficial https://www.instagram.com/theblackdahliamurder_official/ https://twitter.com/bdmmetal https://www.youtube.com/user/blackdahliamurdertv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3VuWq3NxEA
In our very first episode of the "Set the Record Staight" podcast, your favorite butterboi's Andrew and Chris talk about one of their favorite albums of all time, "Nocturnal" by the Black Dahlia Murder. We also get into some Slipknot news, some Summer Slaughter discussion, and unfortunately, a discussion about Kylie and Kendall Jenner. We hope you enjoy the first episode of the podcast! Stay tuned for next week, because we will be releasing a new episode featuring a review of "Gravebloom", the new record by the Acacia Strain! Thank you for listening!
Welcome back! This week we discuss Wonder Woman, the Lita Ford, Cryptopsy and Angelcorpse shows, Ian goes to the doctor, Ryan goes to Canada, we preview new songs by Mutoid Man, The Faceless, CKY and Venom Inc, we unveil the Summer Slaughter lineup and Seattle show date, R.I.P Big Val, Suicidal Tendencies gets shut down and Ian goes hard on the Brutal Poetry Too Hot For Radio segment to end the podcast.
Corey and the Dr. recap their summer metal experiences. Interviews with Terrance Hobbs of Suffocation, Sleazy P. Martini, and Alex Camargo of Krisiun. The Funhouse from Scream Factory is reviewed. The deranged duo try BOHABANERO GWAR hot sauce.
This is a mini-cast in preparation for Pain in the Grass next week and our 100th episode of Backstage Pass! Kevin and Ian talk about the old college radio days, Guns N Roses, Summer Slaughter 2016 and the new Deicide vs. SLIPKNOT beef!
It's time for another seasonal check in for the Summer of 2016. Josh and Brian discuss the better concerts, albums and movies experienced since the solstice. Lots of topics mused like Summer Slaughter, the ethos of Black Metal, Quebec and the digital streaming age we live in.
Sumerian Records proprietor Ash Avildsen is our guest this week. You might know him from an array of different projects, whether you are a fan of his music, the bands on his label, his pioneering touring packages like Summer Slaughter or the recent movie What Now and soon-to-come American Satan. We started our chat by celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Summer Slaughter Tour with Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Suffocation, After the Burial and plenty more, but as is our tendency, we stray from the path into his interesting history with women, his family and the dynamics it take to be successful in today's business. We also attempt to unpack the unprecedented divisiveness we are seeing in the metal community. It's not just cvlt vs. posers -- or any of those age-old separations that seem to be creeping into the world of metal the past couple years -- but a much more scary form of racism and misogyny that's fighting back in a way we haven't seen before. Is this indicative of the anti-PC movement we are seeing play out on the political stage? Or is it simply the playing field of today's industry which we need to accept and move on?
An eventful week brought an eventful podcast. We begin by Rob discussing a story of providing for a certain metal icon. We also discuss the Phil Labonte drama, with a new fan-made parody submitted. Matt from Australia called in for some long distance relationship advice. Rob discussed meeting Jason Newsted. Noa discussed being on Summer Slaughter. A fan called in telling some amazing jokes about cars, and Noa picked (most of) the playlist: Wintersun – Winter Madness Leprous – The Valley Enabler – Fuck Today Listen to the Metal Injection Livecast on Stitcher or on iTunes (please leave a rating/review as well). Also, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
This week Chuck sits down with Corey Brandan of Norma Jean sits down and talks Christian Metal, kids, and the Beastie Boys during the Summer Slaughter tour. Chuck shares his miserable, sweltering experience from the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and wonders whether that festival's low ticket sales (as well as the poor sales of Gigantour) signal the end of the era of the American touring metal festival. David Drainman screamed at the rain much like our old buddy Dave Mustaine and backpedals from calling out Lemmy but doesn't shy away from criticizing Roger Waters and Dallas Coyle. The Lemmy deathwatch goes on high alert with Motorhead cutting the Wacken Open Air performance short due to his health problems, plus we make jokes about Slayer, which is always fun. Tunes:Motorhead - I Know How To DieNorma Jean - If You Have It at Five, You Have It at Fifty
We begin the show talking about Lemmy's recent health scare and his cocoa puffs. We then discussed this famous scene in Decline of Western Civilization Part II with Chris Holmes. This somehow morphed into a convo about Kanye's sex life. Noa, who was not in studio, called in to give us an update from her Summer Slaughter vacation. Rob played his interview with Frankie from Emmure for Sid and Darren and gave some director commentary. In the second hour, we discussed a few terrible songs that came out this week and ended the show hating on Steve Harvey. Here is this week's playlist: The Ocean – Bathyalpelagic II: The Wish in Dreams Revocation – Fracked AEON – Aeons Black Strapping Young Lad – Far Beyond Metal S.O.D. – Freddy Krueger Listen to the Metal Injection Livecast on Stitcher or on iTunes (please leave a rating/review as well). Also, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
This week Axl spends some time with Mark Hunter as the new Chimaira album is ready to drop, discussing Hunter's country music upbringing, the metamorphosis of the old lineup of Chimaira into the new lineup, the writing of the new album and more, and we also listen to another new Chimaira song. Chuck covers his Summer Slaughter and Black Sabbath experience in all of their glory, and Godless found "The Varg" to read you some of his poetic blog entries. We also get you a new tune from All Pigs Must Die because it should be on your short list or you'll really be missing out. Tunes: Chimaira - Transmigration/Crown of Phantoms All Pigs Must Die - Silencer
This week Axl finishes off his Luc Lemay interview with details about the new album Colored Sands, we examine the first rounds of the "Most Needlessly Shat Upon Bands" bracket, we talk about our missed interview with Chris Barnes, Ben Weiman's superhuman return to Dillinger just in time for the Summer Slaughter tour and whether Banjo should be a metal instrument. Of course we couldn't skip the empty amp cabinet controversy either. Playlist: Revocation - Invidious MachineHead - Beautiful Mourning Gorguts - Le Toit du monde
After a one week hiatus, the Metal Injection Livecast returned this week with a bang. We began the show talking about Noa's trip to San Tropez, as well as Rob's experiences at Rockstar Mayhem Fest and Summer Slaughter. 3D also read some fantastic excerpts from Dave Mustaine's new autobiography which brought some epic epic lulz. We ended the show with the return of everybody's favorite segment, Thrash It or Trash It listening to tracks from Heart Beat Still, Sarlacc, Hard Top For Kennedy, Bloodrunner, Astomatous and Fetus Christ. Here is this week's playlist: Early Graves – Give Up Fear – More Beer Cynic – Celestial Voyage Nevermore – 42147 Veil Of Maya – Mowgli Decapitated – Winds Of Creation Adama West – Swagger Megadeth – 502
