Building a Tech Startup While Still in College: The Interval AI Story with Brandon Davis

Meet Brandon Davis, the college senior who's turning the collections industry on its head with his AI startup, Interval. While most of his classmates are polishing resumes and stressing over job applications, Brandon is running a growing tech company with multiple employees—all before graduation day.Brandon's entrepreneurial journey began early, watching Shark Tank with his father and seeing ordinary people building extraordinary businesses. From selling fidget spinners to classmates to running a landscaping service as a teenager, his path to founding Interval was paved with the hustle that defines true entrepreneurs. After cycling through nearly 20 different startup ideas during a university incubator program, Brandon and his co-founder landed on a solution that businesses were actually willing to pay for: automated collections. What makes Interval AI fascinating isn't just the technology—it's the problem it solves. Every business struggles with accounts receivable at some point, whether it's from expired credit cards, forgetful customers, or those deliberately avoiding payment. Traditional collection methods are expensive, inefficient, and frankly, nobody wants to make those awkward calls. Interval's AI automation tackles this universal pain point, delivering results at a fraction of the cost of human collection efforts.Perhaps the most thought-provoking aspect of Brandon's story is his perspective on risk. While conventional wisdom paints entrepreneurship as the risky path and traditional employment as secure, Brandon argues the opposite. In an economy where recent graduates might submit hundreds of job applications before landing a position, building your own business offers a different kind of security—one where you control your destiny rather than hoping to survive the next round of corporate layoffs.Whether you're a seasoned business owner looking to improve cash flow or an aspiring entrepreneur searching for inspiration, Brandon's journey demonstrates that success comes to those willing to persist through failures and pivot until they find what works. Check out interval-ai.com to learn how AI might transform your collections process, or connect with Brandon through his podcast "Get Over Yourself" to follow his entrepreneurial journey. How to connect with Brandon?Website: https://getoveryourselfpodcast.com/Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/get-over-yourself/id1586568369YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC03QFF2URssz6Q1awVk1FhQFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dodgerdavis16/Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/brandon-davis-bba062223/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/getoveryourself_podcast/ Support the show

Delegating as a Leader with Dave Kerpen

Effective leaders know how to delegate the things they don't do well — or don't want to do well — so that they can focus on their strengths and move the company toward greater success.   Dave Kerpen is currently an advisor to many companies and is the CEO/Co-Founder of Apprentice, a platform that connects entrepreneurs and business leaders with smart and motivated college students looking for real-world experience and mentorship. Dave's new book, Get Over Yourself, shares the roadmap for how you can shift your mindset (and your workload) to focus on the things most important for your business, your employees, and you.   Dave calls himself a serial entrepreneur and is the first to admit that he has made plenty of delegating mistakes over the years. But failing doesn't mean the game is over, it simply means that now you have more information to learn from as you keep moving forward.   But should effective leaders learn how to do everything themselves before delegating some tasks to others? Dave says no. Rather, it's arrogant for a leader to think that they would be the best option for all tasks compared to the team they have assembled around them. Instead, leaders should focus on the SHARE strategy — Set the vision for the company, get the Hiring piece right, and assure Access to REsources and cash to get the job done.   Too many leaders assume that they are the best fit for every aspect of the work, and as a result, they get stuck doing the work that would be best delegated to someone else. Effective leaders trust others, including young people who are just entering the workforce, to fill in the gaps and share their knowledge for the greater collective good of the company.   Interview Links: Dave Kerpen   Resources: Growth Navigator Coaching Scaling Up Summits (Select Bill Gallagher as your coach during registration for a discount.) London alternative-psychedelic rock artist Sabatta has released his new single 'Get Over Yourself', the second taste of his new album 'How To Get Even' (out on November 17 via Blackfriars Entertainment) with a video that introduces the unique guitar - The Pick! Aka AfroGuitar! ‘Get Over Yourself' deals with ‘build em up, break em down' celebrity culture via a barrage of grimy riffs, pumping bass and pounding drums. This relentless rocker is anchored by a heavy and hypnotic chorus, which backs the vocal mantra of the track's title! Also included is a shredfest solo, as ferocious as a social media comment section! Beware, no one is safe, as the saying goes ‘the internet is undefeated!' Revolving around guitarist and songwriter Yinka Oyewole, who was raised in Essex and is of Nigerian lineage, Sabatta crafts a raw and individual sound with spiky guitar and an inimitable voice, like a mix of Hendrix, QOTSA and early Red Hot Chili Peppers strained through the sieve of South London. And it's no wonder with musical influences ranging from Curtis Mayfield, Prince, Tupac and Hendrix to Bad Brains, Thin Lizzy, Parliament / Funkadelic and Black Sabbath. "Inspiration for ‘Get Over Yourself' came from the current thirst for fallen idols. It's like a modern day version of human sacrifice, but lives have been replaced by reputations and the Gods are the insatiable beasts of social media opinion. Beware, no one is safe, as the saying goes ‘the internet is undefeated!" says Yinka Oyewole. #NewMusic #Interview #SocialMedia

Meditating IS Productive W/ The Mental Level

Get Over Yourself

Meditation is a practice of paramount importance in fostering mental well-being, focus, and self-awareness. By setting aside time for quiet contemplation, individuals can cultivate a sense of inner peace and balance that transcends the challenges of daily life. As the mind becomes clearer and more tranquil, stress levels are reduced, and emotional resilience is bolstered. This fosters an environment in which creativity, problem-solving, and mental acuity can thrive. Consequently, meditation not only nurtures personal growth, but it also enhances one's ability to navigate complex situations and manage priorities effectively. The increased productivity that results from a regular meditation practice stems from the enhanced mental clarity and focus that meditation fosters. As individuals learn to distance themselves from intrusive thoughts and distractions, they develop the ability to concentrate more deeply on tasks at hand. This heightened focus enables them to work more efficiently and effectively, resulting in improved outcomes and a greater sense of accomplishment. Moreover, the emotional stability that meditation promotes helps to maintain motivation, even in the face of adversity or setbacks. In this way, meditation serves as a powerful tool for boosting productivity, both in professional and personal spheres, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life. That's why on today's episode of the Get Over Yourself Podcast features Cyrus, or better known as, The Mental Level. Through his various social media platforms, The Mental Level has been able to help hundreds of thousands of individuals discover the power of meditation & help them recognize that meditation is a practice for the strong. Inside this episode, you can expect to learn simple meditation practices as well as the concept of why meditating is actually productive - something that absolutely shock host, Brandon Davis. Well, have you ever tried to smuggle a bag of candy through airport security? Those TSA agents have no sense of humor! So, in order to cover the cost of their eagle-eyed candy detection services, the airport has to charge an arm and a leg for that sweet, sweet sugar rush. And let's not forget the ambiance! Dollar stores might have a certain charm, but they just can't compete with the thrill of being surrounded by overpriced snacks and over-stimulated travelers. I mean, who needs to buy a postcard when you can spend $10 on a bag of Skittles? It's all part of the airport experience! With all jokes aside, have you ever sat back to imagine why airport candy and other snacks cost so much more than food you can find at the local dollar tree? Of course, the simple answer is once your in the airport, you can't really leave. This makes it so all the shops inside can charge out the wazoo for your bag of pringles or package of skittles. Now, take that a step further. In your personal growth journey, would you consider yourself to be worth the value of airport candy or dollar store candy? In today's episode of the Get Over Yourself Podcast, Brandon dives deep into the concept of providing more value inside your life and the lives of others. Through practical examples, even a fool would be able to take something away from this episode. Project 50 is a mental toughness challenge similar to 75 Hard, which involves completing 50 consecutive days of specific physical and mental tasks. The challenge includes tasks such as waking up before 8 AM, adhering to some form of a morning routine, exercising for an hour a day, reading 10 pages in a book, dedicating 1 hour towards a new skill, completing a healthy diet plan, and tracking all your results in a journal. Project 50 is a good challenge because it helps individuals develop mental resilience, discipline, and perseverance. By committing to and completing the challenge, individuals can build a sense of accomplishment and confidence, which can carry over into other areas of their lives. Preparing for certain situations can certainly be important, such as studying for an exam or rehearsing for a performance. However, there are also many situations where over-preparation can actually hinder your success. When we become too focused on trying to control every aspect of a situation, we can become rigid and inflexible, which can make it difficult to adapt to unexpected changes or obstacles that arise. This can ultimately lead to increased anxiety, stress, and decreased performance. Moreover, not preparing can also offer valuable opportunities for growth and learning. When we are forced to think on our feet and improvise, we are challenged to use our creativity and problem-solving skills. This can lead to new insights, perspectives, and strategies that we may not have otherwise discovered. It can also help us develop greater resilience and confidence in our abilities to handle challenging situations. So, while it's important to prepare in certain circumstances, we should also be open to the benefits of embracing uncertainty and learning to improvise.
