This episode features Jordan Smelt, the wine director and co-owner of Lucian Books & Wine in Buckhead, Atlanta. Originally from Tampa, Jordan has called Atlanta home for over two decades and during that time has worked at some of the best restaurants in the city, including Cakes & Ale, Holeman & Finch, and Restaurant Eugene. He also served as the General Manager of Rive Gauche Wine Co., a wine distribution company that launched in 2019. Jordan operates Lucian with his wife Katie Barringer, and they live in Buckhead with their three pets, Maxwell, Phoebe, and Ms. P. He talks about how the concept came to be and what inspired them to combine these two passions. He also speaks to how he felt those first couple days of opening as well as what excites him about the future of the Atlanta wine industry. On this week's AAP Podcast, Chris Versace is joined by David Holeman, CEO of Whitestone REIT (WSR), which focuses on open-air retail centers, primarily in the US Sunbelt. The conversation is an excellent primer for listeners about the REIT sector. It includes how REIT management thinks about their portfolio and tenant composition over time, the data they examine when choosing a location, and how they stagger their rental agreements. Our takeaway from the conversation is that while Whitestone REIT may be a smaller REIT by size, its monthly dividend and focus on meeting the needs of its surrounding communities makes it a standout. From an AAP portfolio perspective, while we like the Whitestone story, the market cap and average trading volume are simply too small for us to consider, but folks that like small-cap, income-generating plays may want to dig further. During the conversation with Versace, Holeman shares that after a few economic cycles during his time at Whitestone, he and the management team look to remain nimble while focusing on evolving consumer needs in and around Whitestone's centers. This meant pivoting toward consumer services as e-commerce changed the landscape for traditional retailers. The conversation touches on two pillars of growth for Whitestone including continued expansion and the cycling of rental agreements that tend to include rate increases. Holeman shares the existing team could grow to more than 100 centers vs. the 56 it had exiting the recent June quarter. Given the interest rate environment, the expansion strategy is likely to favor buying and rehabbing existing centers in the near term.

Today I'm giving you all that information and more. My guest is Lorraine Holeman, and guess what? On Today's episode Capt. Justin Leake shares some memories of his co-host, Travis Holeman, who passed away earlier this week. Travis hosted the Discovery Channel TV show Chasin' the Sun with Justin and you don't have to watch their show for very long to see how passionate he was about fishing and the outdoors in general. He will certainly be missed and hopefully this episode gives some insight into the kind of life Travis lived and how much of an impact he had on the outdoor community. Rest In Peace Travis & Thanks for sharing your love of all things outdoors with us.

This event welcomes memoir authors are Eva Baker (Martha and Eva) and Maggie Holeman (Women in the Locker Room) and children authors and illustrators La Von Bridges (Alaska Animals, We Love You) and Betty Hedstrand and Chris Floyd (Clever Little Bird). Martha and Eva is the story of a mother and daughter’s journey as German Refugees during WWII. It describes the life they had in Schlesien and the fear and deprivation that they experienced when they became German refugees--where more than 400,000 lost their lives during this expulsion. Martha Maiwald ‘s original memoir was written in the old German (pre-Hitler) script, translated into German, and then ultimately translated into English by her daughter, Eva Baker. Maggie Holeman's memoir, Women in the Locker Room, examines her extraordinary career at the Anchorage airport and being the first woman to achieve the award of weapon proficiency at the Sitka Police Academy. And for her response to the YC-122 crash, she received a legislative commendation for bravery LaVon Bridges and Alice Wright composed chants and poems for their students to learn orally. Subsequently, they learned to read, using the poems and chants now in Alaska Animals, We Love You Betty Hedstrand’s book Clever Little Bird follows the adventures of a moose and magpie in Anchorage. This beautiful book is full of Chris Floyd’s amazing artwork.
Artistic talent combined with life-long exploration of consciousness and devotion to self-realization has given Daniel B. Holeman an ability to depict uplifting and profound sacred imagery. His inspirational paintings have a strong impact on people. Many are deeply touched emotionally sometimes brought to tears - and describe his paintings as the some of the most beautiful pictures they have ever seen.Daniel's primary role in Life is that of a Spiritual Guide and Messenger and the art that comes through him is an expression of that role. He is here to assist others in remembering their connection to Divinity and live from that place inspired to living their fullest potential, their unique possibility. He knows that more people being that way will bring about a better world for all Life. Daniel feels it is not so much the beauty as the place it stirs in people that they are responding to. He invites the viewer to dive into a deeper dimension of consciousness while viewing his paintings. The imagery stirs forgotten awareness of a place felt to be HOME a warm, familiar and heartfelt state of mind a welcome contrast to the day-to-day world we live in. His work has been used on TV and videos, book and CD covers, magazines, prints, posters, cards and the internet. Daniel offers Visions of Beauty, Truth and Inspiration and encourages all to join in the Earth’s Awakening. He is committed to bringing forth and environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on the planet as the guiding principle of our time. He is a Wayseer who offers possibilities on living more aligned with the Source (God) within.
