Mit jelent a rapszódia? Lehet-e a „Mama, just killed a man" sort úgy értelmezni, hogy Freddie a régi önmagát „ölte meg"? A beszélgetés második felében New York és Amerika kerül fókuszba.
Black on Black Cinema reviews Michael (2026), Antoine Fuqua's Michael Jackson biopic starring Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop. While Jaafar delivers a great impression of his uncle Michael, the film itself is a shallow, sanitized music biopic that refuses to engage with Jackson's complexity and controversies. Director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) crafts a visually stunning but emotionally hollow portrait that hits every musical biopic cliché—rise to fame, family dysfunction, creative genius, tragic decline, and rise again without taking risks or offering fresh insight into one of music's most complicated icons. We break down why the film fails despite strong performances, analyzing how it sidesteps difficult questions about Jackson's life, allegations, and legacy in favor of a safe, reverential approach. The Thriller recreation is impressive, the musical sequences are well-executed, and Jaafar's physical transformation is remarkable—but beneath the spectacle lies a film afraid to be honest about its subject. We discuss what a truly great Michael Jackson film would require, compare it to other music biopics, examine the Jackson estate's involvement and creative control, and explore why Hollywood keeps making shallow biopics instead of complex character studies. Essential viewing for understanding how NOT to make a music biopic.Black on Black Cinema is a long-running podcast featuring in-depth Black movie reviews and frank conversations that matter to the Black community. Grab your popcorn, pour your bubbly, we're back on the couch and we have receipts! Then we get into Jaafar Jackson channeling Michael in a way that genuinely transported us, the Lamar Odom documentary that should not still exist as a human being, and the Real Housewives of Atlanta cast reset we have THOUGHTS about. K. Michelle, Pinky Cole, and Shamea — we're talking. It's bold takes, real laughs, and the kind of commentary that pairs perfectly with popcorn and a glass of champagne. So sip, stream, and spill with us.
Send us Fan MailWe finally saw Michael — Antoine Fuqua's long-awaited biopic about the King of Pop — and we have thoughts. Dan and Mike break down Jaafar Jackson's performance as his legendary uncle, the film's decision to sidestep the 1993 allegations entirely, and whether the finished product does justice to one of the most complicated legacies in music history. We get into what Fuqua gets right — the recreation of Thriller, the Jackson 5 years, the raw energy of Michael on stage — and what the film conspicuously leaves out. With a 97% audience score and only a 38% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Michael has sparked a real fan-versus-critic divide, and we fall somewhere in between. If you've seen it, you know there's a lot to unpack. Here at the Untitled Film Project Podcast, we had an incredible opportunity to bridge a 43-year gap in Michael Jackson history. Marcea Lane was the Pink Zombie Bride over Michael's left shoulder in the original Thriller video back in 1983. Fast forward 43 years, and Nichole Weber portrays that same Pink Zombie Bride in the new MICHAEL biopic. So why not get them together so they can share their experiences and insights on working with Michael and Jaafar, on how long they spent in the makeup chair, or on how they got the gig in the first place? So let's talk about it...

Zadnja leta smo priča poplavi filmskih biografij slavnih glasbenikov. V biografiji kralja popa Michaela Jacksona ga upodobi njegov nečak Jaafar in zgodba obravnava zgodnje obdobje njegovega ustvarjanja do leta 1985.
A new biopic chronicles one of the 20th century's biggest and most controversial music icons, but appears not to paint the whole picture about his life. We discuss Antoine Fuqua's Michael, which stars the pop legend Michael Jackson's nephew Jaafar in the lead role. Stand and Deliver is a National Theatre of Scotland production which tells the story of a legendary industrial dispute. In 1981, workers at a Lee Jeans factory in Greenock, barricaded themselves inside for seven months in a protest against the proposed closure of the factory and the loss of 240 jobs. We hear from the play's writer, Frances Poet, and journalist Paul English, whose writing about the women's stories inspired the production. Director Mark Jenkin tells us about his unique approach to filmmaking, using a clockwork camera and recording sound months after the initial shoot, and about his latest film Rose of Nevada, a mysterious tale of a long-lost fishing boat which returns to a Cornish port decades after disappearing, which stars Callum Turner and George Mackay.Presenter: Kirsty Wark Producer: Mark Crossan
