My special guests today are Eddie Paul and Chris "Freight Train" Floyd, bandmates from The Mighty Train Wrecks! Nashville's own, The Mighty Train Wrecks, was built around the original songwriting and vocal harmony blend of Eddie Paul and Chris "Freight Train" Floyd. A formative four-year residency at the iconic Bobby's Idle Hour on Music Row cemented their reputation as a band worth seeing. Since 2014 they have delivered original, high-octane, and soulful Americana music to appreciative audiences. Along the way, they have garnered successes like being featured in an interview on the renowned WSM AM 650 radio show with Devon O'Day, WDVX's Blue Plate Special, and three times on Channel 4, WSMV's Today In Nashville Show. The Wreck's musical ethos is a mix of Jimmy Rodgers, Merle Haggard, Grateful Dead, and The Band, leavened by a sprinkling of Little Feat and Muddy Waters. Freight Train and Eddie look forward to entertaining your audience as a duo, trio, or fiery five-piece! Stay tuned, as a sophomore CD project, with all new songs, will be available soon! Do 1963 roku. Jedno z najsłynniejszych, to “Let the Mermaids Flirt with Me”. A muzyka? Muzykę zaczerpnął John z innej piosenki. To kolejny przebój amerykańskiego folku. „Waiting For The Train” Jimmi Rodgers napisał i nagrał w 1929 roku. W tym samym roku Rodgers wystąpił w filmie wyprodukowanym przez Columbia Pictures, w którym śpiewał „Waiting For The Train”. Był to w zasadzie jeden z pierwszych teledysków muzyki counrty. Wracając do korzeni piosenki, pierwowzorem podobno była londyńska ballada z połowy XIX wieku „Standing For The Platform”. Twierdzą, że Rodgers był zainspirowany amerykańską folkową piosenką z końca XIX wieku „I've been Working on the Railroad”. Podobieństwa faktycznie są, więc może… Sail-Ho Audycja zawiera utwory: “Waiting For A Train” (w tle), wyk. Raul Malo, Pat Flynn, Rob Ickes, Dave Pomeroy, muzyka: Jimmy Rodgers „Parostatek” , wyk. B.B. King. Muddy Waters. Bo Diddley. Jimmy Rodgers. All of these musicians have Mississippi running through their veins. Music is what makes Mississippi what it is. How do we make sure we remember these musicians? How do we let their melodies echo throughout history? Malcolm White knew the answer. He found a way to make sure Mississippi remembers its artists through his sensational restaurant, Hal & Mal's, and through his work with the Mississippi Arts Commission. Through the words of Nora Courtney and the production of David Johnson, find out how Malcolm White shows the world what hidden talents arise from the same soil where the Blues were born. Original music written and recorded by Steven Kennedy.

Our good buddy Adam Campbell is back on our show to talk dogs and catch up. Since we've last seen him, he and another buddy of ours, Jimmy Rodgers, have created an awesome podcast called The Dog House with Adam and Jimmy. If you're a fan of our show, then you'd enjoy theirs. We talk about Adam's dogs and how hot the weather can be for dog training where he's from. Adam gives some warm weather training tips for people and we dig into how Adam preps his dogs to peak at the right time. Specifically, we talk about peaking for the ol' Master Stashional event. We also pick his brain on some water work questions from a few friends of ours and his answers are awesome. Don't miss out on the dog training advice we get to enjoy in this episode! Cheers!
In this episode, we are joined by Adam Campbell. Adam the owner and head trainer of Hillside Kennels near Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He is also one of the co-hosts of The Dog House with his good buddy, Jimmy Rodgers. We talk about everything from training dogs, to being disciplined in work and in life, to prioritizing family time, all the way down Mississippi State's bid at a National Championship in Omaha. If you like the show, share it with a friend and leave us a review wherever you listen to podcasts. It helps us get the Sound of a New Generation out to more folks!

Update on the reward of $25,000 being offered for the return of the 12 Gold records that Howard Steele had stored and that were stolen in 1987. They were stored at a North American Van lines warehouse in Beverly Hills and one of the owners died of a heart attack and the other went missing. The sheriff subsequently opened the warehouse to people who had stored there and it was totally ransacked! So the return doesn't look good. However, the reward still stands. Friday's show at radiowilderlive.com will feature a musical tribute to the late Jimmy Rodgers. We will play three of his biggest hits and then fill out the dance card with the Kings of Leon's brand new tune 100,000 People and be followed by Ed Sheeran, LA Guns, Kylie Minoque, Kongos ,Butch Walker, The Jam, Steely Dan and much more good music. ‘Baby Ruth' will publish the show after she finishes painting her garage and builds a small treehouse! Cory Marks is one of the latest artists to meld metal music with country lyrics. A sound developed with Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Papa Roach, Modern Science, Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, In This Moment, Shania Twain, and Hellyeah) on Who I Am, Cory's latest album. Not the most trendsetting music on country radio for those that do listen to the radio. No surprise if you know that Cory isn't one to follow the current waves that "the man" sets. For one not to follow trends, it's a pattern in life. Cory was a semi-pro hockey player from Canada that was in training as a fighter pilot for one thing. A few nights in jail is probably the only thing for an "outlaw" that would be common in his life. Coming from a musical family and being introduced to some of the original outsiders like Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings. It took one night while in college to jump on stage for the first time publicly that set the tone and change Cory's career trajectory. Now in the game, nostalgia and sad songs from artists like Merle Haggard and Jimmy Rodgers are what's missing in country music. Cory even adds that there is more in common with the pain and angst of Pantera, with the lonesome songs of country music than people realize. Can you write "I shot a man in Reno..." and not live that moment in today's lyrics? American Songwriter Podcast Network

John’s Thirty Tigers debut, Arkansas, performed with The Good Road Band, was released in 2018, proving a critical and commercial success in the Americana and roots community, a combination of originals with classic songs popularized by Mississippi John Hurt, Jimmy Rodgers and Don Gibson. After two-plus solid years of honing their chops through touring, that group – mandolin stalwart Sam Bush, pedal steel maestro Russ Pahl (Dan Auerbach), electric guitar whiz Guthrie Trapp, expert bassist Steve Mackay, cello prodigy Nate Smith (Kacey Musgraves) and drummer/percussionist extraordinaire Josh “Daddy” Day – returns intact for Live In Nashville, set for release on September 18 on all major digital streaming platforms. The set was recorded last January 9 at Station Inn, the legendary intimate listening room in The Gulch section of Nashville where the band first took shape. “This album represents a full-circle moment for me,” said John, in quarantine with his family in his adopted Music City home. “It feels like the culmination of the Arkansas project, being able to bring these guys back, and to be able to make this record after touring and playing so many shows together.” Inspired by Mississippi John Hurt, Live in Nashville features songs like the gospel-blues opener, “Lord Send Me,” the Delta blues of the standard “Stack o Lee” and an electrified take on “Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor,” dubbed “Pallet Soft and Low,” where John manages to show off some of his well-honed rock guitar skills. In yet another “full circle moment,” John pays tribute to his own childhood with a cover of Don Gibson’s “Oh Lonesome Me,” the first song he learned to sing and play on guitar as a six-year-old after hearing it on the radio. Several of the songs come with Oates’ own stories about the songs, connecting the dots as to their connections, including popular hits of the era like the Mississippi Sheiks’ 1930 success, “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” Emmett Miller’s 1924 breakthrough, “Anytime” and Jimmy Rogers’ 1932 classic, “Miss the Mississippi and You.” Watch "Anytime" HERE “I was always fascin
This week's show we meet with a buddy who is no stranger to the hunt test game or a duck blind, Jimmy Rodgers. He has been in the hunting, guiding, dog handling world for a long, long time and has a few tricks up his sleeves and fortunately, he shares a few tonight. Jimmy dabbles in a little bit of both worlds in that he has competed at The Grand and the Master National, so we hear his take on both. We also do a little shot for shot with him and hear an in depth look at heeling sticks, feeding routines, (not professional) thoughts on bloat, advice for people looking for guided hunts, over-pressuring dogs with collar work, how Jimmy is bringing us to Alaska and more.... but really... hold him to it.
