This week the podcast takes a look at the government's plans to try and fix the UK's rental market, with soaring rents, terrifying competition, no fault evictions, poorly maintained properties and huge supply pressures trapping an increasingly large cohort of tenants in a system that means they may never own their own homes. To discuss the Renters Rights Bill and how it will look to solve some of these issues, host Alain Tolhurst is joined by Joe Powell, Labour MP for Kensington and Bayswater, who sits on the housing select committee, as well as Roisin Lanigan, journalist and author, whose debut novel ‘I Want to Go Home But I'm Already There' has been billed as a “gothic novel for generation rent”.Alongside them is Tom Darling, director of the Renters' Reform Coalition, a group of 21 housing organisations campaigning for stronger renters' rights , Charlie Trew, head of policy at the charity Shelter, and Chris Norris, director of policy and campaigns at the National Residential Landlords Association. To sign up for our newsletters click herePresented by Alain Tolhurst, produced by Nick Hilton and edited by Ewan Cameron for Podot

Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we add another bonus to our series on Metroid Prime with an interview with Jack Mathews, a technical lead on the title. We cover a lot of ground in this one, folks, which is appropriate for a Metroid game. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Podcast breakdown: 1:10 Interview 1:03:17 Break 1:03:53 Outro Issues covered: scanning for IP addresses, supporting QuakeWorld, bored by anything but coding, the Wild West, the Dallas studio, feeling like a Nintendo series, similarities between the glide renderer and the GameCube hardware, a central technology group, arriving to a bit of a mess, a lot of lost undirected work, taking veteran console first person success and turning MetaForce into it, cancelling titles, unhappy marriages, starting on day one, building data streaming, hardware meant for streaming, pattern AI, dynamically modifying for performance, working on a world editor, "you know, a duck," building practical things, there being a lot of fans, bucking against doing first-person, limitations of the controller, working towards accessibility on the controller, having to be 60 and having to stay there, optimizing for the worst case to avoid a hitchy mess, avoiding performance traps in specular and bump mapping, being unable to choke the memory pipelines, throwing up flashing if you went under 60 ever, taking something away to justify anything else, software is a gas that will expand, limiting the content rather than expecting technical wizardry, testing Nintendo's demos, faking specular, being consistent and polished, having a sytem rather than scriptosaurus rex, planners and not designers, limitations, being a bad engineer or a bad artist, knowing where you fit, seeing the constraints in the game, Tim's crisis of faith, Love and Lemons plug!, targeting games where we know people, giving people constraints, relying on designers too much to accomplish goals, embracing constraints. These industry leaders discuss the recently launched BerrySmart Insights Fresh Platform. The platform helps the industry more accurately measure production, inventory and pricing with a weekly report on supply, demand, inventory and shipments. It's an important part of the USHBC strategic plan to help growers and marketers become more efficient, resilient and innovative. “There's really three big pieces to this new launch that's going to provide the industry value. I think the first thing is bringing together data from throughout the industry for an accurate, timely understanding of the market. Number two, it provides more than just past and present data. It's also including a critical piece, which is forecasting, which will … help guide the industry, which is critical. And three, it's industry owned. It's governed by the USHBC and overseen by the USDA, and the industry decides on what's important and necessary to help innovate and encourage a more data-driven industry.” - Joe Vargas Topics covered include: An introduction to Vargas, Powell and Hill. A look at the launch and value of the BerrySmart Insights Fresh Platform by its developers and participants. The role the industry plays in the platform's success and accuracy. Before I knew it, sure wasn't it the calling card for this Richard Burton classic.A classic on so many levels, firstly the cast. Bringing together Burton and Eastwood was a stroke of genius. Mary Ure was another excellent casting decision alongside Ingrid Pitt. The score by Ron Goodwin so easily recognisable and the action. Coordinated by JOE POWELL with 2nd Unit Directed by YAKIMA CANUTT.Here I discuss the action with stuntwoman GILLIAN ALDAM who doubled Mary Ure and JIM DOWDALL who worked for Bapty, the armourers at the time, but got himself involved on the picture.EnjoyIf you've enjoyed this episode then why not follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using the following linkhttps://linktr.ee/behindthestunts

Indeed it is I, Tyson Saner. Your host and Soundcast Sommelier for the evening. Enticing your earbuds with a selection of fine soundcast content and extending the invitation to taste just the tiniest amounts before making a decision on whether or not to listen to more of what these various creators have seen fit to upload and share with whomever makes the decision to listen to them. This episode I've got clips from Bunny Ears, Popternative, Dead Jesters Sketch Comedy Podcast, Stoned Science, How Did This Get Made? and Judge John Hodgman. We've also got a double dose of raging moderate Will Durst's Burst O’ Durst segments and this episodeis brought to you by Henderson’s Shoplifter’s Pants. I'd also like to point out that one of the ways you could be listening to us now is Spotify! Yes, we've added yet another place you can find us and potentially pass us along to someone else in need of a soundcast experience who may not know where to start. CORRECTIONS DEPT. Hannibal Buress (whose soundcast, Hannibal Buress: Handsome Rambler, I clipped for epi167) was kind enough to reach out on Twitter to thank us for "the plug" and to let us know that Handsome Rambler is not part of the Earwolf network anymore. It is now independent and you can find the show at http://hannibalburess.com/podcast/. Thank you very much for the correct information, Hannibal. My apologies. CLIPS Bunny Ears Here's a soundcast that was recommended by Korey Epps, former host of The Evil Teddy Bear Podcast. Hosted by former child star MacCauley Culkin and his friend Mat Cohen, Bunny Ears, a brand new soundcast as of the beginning of this year, is described as a “weekly discussion of things and stuff and things,” according to Apple Podcasts. It also features guests. This was clipped from the appropriately titled premier epi, called “The First Episode of this Podcast”. (Side Note: I was a guest on an episode of Evil Teddy Bear a few years back but I can't seem to find it online at this time.) (Side Side Note: I'm happy to say that Korey Epps is launching a new podcast this year called The Korey Epps Show and was very recently a guest on epi49 of another soundcast I co-host with Hunter Block called The Anti Social Show.) (Side Side Side Note: I've got news for you, he's likely to be on epi50 as well…) Popternative According to Apple Podcasts, “Popternative initially began as a podcast in September, 2015. Hosted by Peter Roumeliotis, guests from the sports, social media and entertainment industry joined the host each week and engaged in a digital dialogue about various issues and topics. Popternative’s main quest has always been, and remains, to provide our viewers/listeners with behind-the-scenes digital discussions that they would otherwise have a hard time locating.” Our clip is from an interview with Mike Zapcic of AMC’s Comic Book Men on AMC. Dead Jesters Sketch Comedy Podcast The Dead Jesters Sketch Comedy Podcast is a collection of hilarious and original skits brought to you by NYC stand-up comedians Joe Powell and Ryco Newton-Block, according to the show’s listing at iTunes. Each episode is filled with absurd characters, outrageous storylines, and hysterical parodies. This podcast has 5-star ratings across the board; we don't even know what 4-stars looks like. This clip is from Episode 5: "Of Beavers and Bransons" and is as fresh as last week, when it was plucked from the soundcast vine. Tune into the Jesters and you're guaranteed to be laughing throughout. Enjoy! Stoned Science Comedians Kimberly Congdon & Sara Weinshenk sit down to explore the depths of science over cannabis selections on Stoned Science. Laugh with them as they explore subjects ranging from sex to artifical intelligence in-between joint hits. This clip we’re featuring is from their episode posted February 18th, 2018, called "Lucid Dreaming". How Did This Get Made? This is one of my all-time favorite soundcasts. I've been a listener since the first episode dropped in, I believe, 2010. As described on iTunes: “Have you ever seen a movie so bad that it's amazing? Paul Scheer, June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas want to hear about it! We'll watch it with our funniest friends, and report back to you with the results.” This clip is from epi171, released September 15, 2017, and features actor Chris Geere of You’re the Worst joining Paul, June, and Jason to discuss the 1987 martial arts film Miami Connection. Judge John Hodgman Way back when, John Hodgman had a show called “Today in the Past" which then became a podcast now called The Judge John Hodgman Podcast. The official show description reads., in part, “Have your pressing issues decided by Famous Minor Television Personality John Hodgman, Certified Judge. If you'd like John Hodgman to solve your pressing issue, simply email it, along with your phone number, to hodgman@maximumfun.org. THAT IS ALL.” Featuring Maximum Fun’s Jesse Thorn as the bailiff, this clip is from epi359 “Beyond a Reasonable Bout.” (Side note: As I was writing the details down of this show as I do for every episode of Succotash, The Comedy Souncast Soundcast, I couldn't help but notice that for some reason, Mr. Hodgman has blocked our @SuccotashShow Twitter account, and I have to say I have absolutely no idea why. I can only imagine that it was accidental. At any rate, if you'd like to contact @Hodgman on Twitter to ask why on our behalf, let us know what he says…) DONE FOR NOW And with that, I've exhausted my current supply of Soundcast clips from all around the internet. Mostly I use Podbay and Laughable to listen but I'd be very curious to know where YOU listen to us, and WHERE you listen to us. FYI, I usually listen to soundcasts when I'm doing manual labor of some sort. If my life included a long, near-daily commute then that's where I would probably listen. Most of you listening by now should know that you don't have to stay in one place or be inactive while enjoying this or your favorite soundcast and if you didn't know, then you do now. Also I've got my first "Succotash Chats" coming up for the next episode and I've got to start editing that now. Of course, that's MY "now". I could be done with that part of the deal by the time you hear this. It could already be posted. Well, you do understand how time works don't you? It keeps moving forward for all of us, until…it doesn't. So, If you've enjoyed yourself here, remember: You can now find us on Spotify for another place to enjoy us. If you'd like to help the show offset server costs, you can hang right here on our homepage and either click on the Amazon banner at the top of the page, shop as you normally would, and a percentage of the money you spend goes to help us. Or click on the Donate button up there if you don’t want to buy anything. And every little bit helps... So if you do enjoy this free entertainment and wish to hear it for years to come, I would gently remind you again to please, pass the Succotash. — Tyson Saner
