June 11th: Judge Charles Sebesta Disbarred (Anthony Charles Graves)(2011) Sometimes, the person under fire in a case isn't just the one who committed the crime. On June 11th 2011 a prosecutor was disbarred years after a devastating murder case. One where he acted in ways unbefitting of a lawyer in order to bring a man to justice. The wrong man as it turned out. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Charles_Graves, https://www.law.umich.edu/special/exoneration/Pages/casedetail.aspx?caseid=3253, https://www.texasmonthly.com/true-crime/innocence-found/, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/charles-sebasta-prosecutor-of-wrongfully-convicted-man-anthony-graves-loses-law-license/, https://innocenceproject.org/texas-prosecutor-disbarred-following-misconduct-in-anthony-graves-case/, https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/feb/09/texas-prosecutor-charles-sebesta-disbarred-anthony-graves-innocent-death-row, https://people.com/crime/texas-prosecutor-charles-sebestas-appeal-of-disbarment-denied/ Learn more about your ad choices. When you feel an interest arising in you to learn and practice Tantra, you will very soon encounter vitriolic gate keeping (by those who are themselves often outside the gates). You will come up against established hierarchies and rigid "traditions". People, often internet strangers, will almost always have something to say about your practice and as if they were the highest authorities on the subject, offer their opinions (whether asked or unasked) about what you can or cannot do. What human being is allowed to have power over any human being, though? When did we accept that as natural and alright and when did we decide to give away our power to those who claim to know better. If there's anything to learn, we must learn for ourselves following our svadharma, our inherent nature and the inclinations of our own heart, which is often (and this is sometimes scary to hear) wholly unique and wholly different from anyone else. What you have to do in your own journey has never been and will be never done. What model then exists to guide you but your own inspiration and whimsy? Everyone is valid and everyone's truth is true in their own context, given their own predilections, but just because something is true before and is true for someone else does not mean it is true now or true for you. Why do we cling to the way things used to be? The ideas of 10th and 11th CE India (and a lot of the times these are distorted by 700 years of Mogul rule and after that a wave of Christian apologetics during the British Rāj, e.g the Brāhmo and Arya Samāj movements of 19th CE ) are like beautiful but antiquated coins. They worked before for different people in a different time but they have no currency now. We are now, and we are different and so these ideas need to be re-evalutated, re-interpreted and re-contextualized, to preserve the best and incinerate the rest! You are a sovereign being! You can do whatever the fuck you want. And because you value radical freedom in yourself, you will by nature value it in others and be perfectly ethical, peaceful and loving, giving others the space to express themselves the way you express yourself freely. It is only when you deprive yourself the right to radical, authentic expression that you start to judge others and feel negatively towards them. Unethical action comes from repression and fear. Stop letting people suppress you! Stop letting the fear mongering and superstition on the internet scare you away from doing the things you love. You see, when you come to Tantra, out of genuine love and curiosity, especially when you have an interest in the "darker" side of our tradition (the left hand path, fierce Goddesses like Kālī, the radical world-affirming and life-embracing Advaita of the Mahārtha, i.e Śākta tradition), you will sooner or later come up against established hierarchies and self-appointed pontiffs telling you what you can or cannot do, keeping a gate closed to a city they have often themselves never entered. To this, we say, lovingly: fuck all that. Lets storm the gates, loot the city and redistribute the wealth (esoteric wisdom) which is the common property of every being everywhere regardless of race, nationality, religion, caste, gender, sexual-orientation, life-style choices etc. But what would such an anti-establishment, punk-rock, outlaw Tantra look like? We try to articulate what such a revolution would take n this first installment from our "Kentucky Fried Tantra" retreat of 2026.No masters, no leaders, no rules. Take back what's yours. Reclaim your power. Do what you want and leave others to do what they want. Freedom! Radical freedom! We will settle for nothing else, we who are the rabid ganas and Bhutan of our Lord and Lady, Shiva and Kali, who are the themselves Revolution Incarnate. Two Oregon lawyers were recently fined $110,000 for including fictitious cases in filings that were AI “hallucinations.” This is not the first such case in Oregon, and General Counsel of the Oregon State Bar Ankur Doshi says it’s unlikely to be the last. There are hundreds of cases across the U.S. where the use of AI has resulted in incorrectly cited cases, fabricated quotes, cases that don’t exist, or all three. Doshi says using AI this way is antithetical to the sworn duties and responsibilities of the profession. Courts are increasingly imposing higher fines for these violations and state bar associations are also meting out discipline, which can range from admonitions to disbarment. Doshi joins us to share more about the regulations and guidance in place for using AI in legal proceedings.

In this episode, Dave and Jamison answer these questions: How can I get our company to follow the law and stop sending SPAM without being regarded as negative? We're sending out emails that don't comply with CAN-SPAM, and I think we should comply due to the risks, but I don't want to risk any blowback! People want the emails to look more ‘human' sent, and putting your mailing address at the end of an email is not very human, so we're not doing that… It's a medium startup (500 people), but I'm close enough to the marketing work that they might know it was me! Should I send an email to our general consul? How can I raise concerns and do the right thing without being regarded as not a team player?? How do I stay motivated on a team that's always sick? I'm on a team of 3 ICs and one manager. The other two ICs are plagued by health issues. I am trying to be empathetic, but this has been going on for the at least a year. One of them regularly takes sick days, often turning into sick weeks. The other has a long term issue and regularly does half days. This affects our ability to produce results, but we don't have a PM and don't really have deadlines given the nature of our work, so it's not really noticed. I feel like we are moving a lot slower than we could be, and when we do check-ins on our goals at the end of each quarter, we maybe only hit like 50% of our goals. To me it's quite obvious why we don't hit our goals, but everyone else seems to be surprised by it. My manager can't manage with enough rigor to produce results. I've brought this up to them before (our goal misses, not teammates being sick), but nothing seems to change. As the only seemingly-healthy member of the team, there's no incentive to work more than the bare minimum. I feel like I should be taking more sick days! This is very demotivating and I feel like I'm stagnating. How would you all approach this situation? Should I also suddenly have health issues? Is this actually a blessing in disguise and I should make the most of it? Show Notes https://overcast.fm/+ABLmzfhZxak

The Utah Jazz have been mighty frisky over the past two months in the throes of trying to tank away the season. Credit to the players and Will Hardy for playing hard and making a lot of these games interesting, right?Well the Jazz decided those calls were just too close for comfort, so the Jazz decide to sign two...less-than-qualified...G-League role players to sop up 40+ minutes in random games in an effort to really, really ensure Utah loses basketball games. (Spoiler alert: Utah STILL was competitive in a number of games against top competition! They also lost to the Wizards by 20.)Mark Russell Pereira (@markrussellpereira.bsky.social) had to sound off about this brazen flaunting of watchable basketball. Giving a ton of minutes to your deep prospects and two-way guys is one thing, but this felt like something else. It's not all negative though, as the broader Utah Jazz prospect class has looked terrific over the past month, and Mark recaps the wild successes of Ace Bailey & Co. in the month of March.

I will never, ever express sympathy for Israelis. Ever. Under any circumstances. To do so would be irresponsible, because Israel always weaponizes sympathy and then uses that weapon to commit mass atrocities. If the world gives Israel sympathy for civilians injured by an Iranian airstrike over the weekend in a war Israel started, by Friday they'll be using that sympathy to justify nuking Tehran. It was a terminal week for Manchester City's Champions League hopes, with elimination at the hands of Real Madrid (including the hand of Bernardo Silva if we're being strictly accurate about it all). Meanwhile, the team's hopes of winning the Premier League title were dealt a blow after they failed to keep pace with leaders Arsenal with a 1-1 draw at West Ham. David Mooney is joined by City fans James Faulkner and, from the MCFC Lads podcast and social pages, Luke Stanley. They discuss the performances and the results this week... because there is a difference in how each is perceived... and they look ahead to what will undoubtedly be a tough test against Arsenal in the League Cup final on Sunday. Arsenal fan Michael Keshani returns to the show to give his thoughts on how Mikel Arteta's side are playing. Are they as good as previous Arsenal teams and are they even good to watch? We get into the narratives around the league leaders, plus look at how Sunday's final could impact the remainder of the title race, however unlikely it is that City close the gap at this stage. On top of all of that, we've roped in Chris Higginbottom and, from the City Ramble podcast, Amos Murphy to discuss City's best fluked goals. That's after Bernardo admitted that his strike at the London Stadium wasn't quite as intentional as it might have been. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. Working in a dental practice should be built on trust, but what happens when something in the office does not feel right? In this episode of the Dental Assistant Nation Podcast, Kevin Henry sits down with dental consultant and author Susan Gunn to have an honest conversation about ethics inside dental practices. Many dental assistants have quietly struggled with situations where decisions in the office do not align with their values, whether it involves questionable communication with patients, dishonest reporting, or workplace behaviors that cross ethical boundaries. Susan shares insights from years of working with dental teams and discusses survey results that reveal how common ethical concerns can be in the workplace. The conversation explores how small compromises in honesty can slowly affect the culture of a dental office and why both leadership and team members must take responsibility for maintaining integrity. Susan and Kevin also talk about the difficult position dental assistants may find themselves in when they notice something unethical happening around them. They explain why documenting situations, asking the right questions, and having honest conversations with leadership can help protect both your career and your peace of mind. Most importantly, they emphasize that every professional has a line they should not cross and that protecting your integrity will always matter more than protecting a paycheck. When Kobe Bryant's legendary 81-point performance is finally eclipsed — and in the controversial fashion that it was — real Kobe fans felt the need to reconnect and process what they had just witnessed. (So obviously that means) Jeff still missing in action, Andres returns to join Michael for a full breakdown of Bam Adebayo's 83-point explosion and the strange emotions it created. The two walk through the entire viewing experience: from the early scoring barrage to the fourth-quarter stat chase that turned the game into what Michael calls “unethical hoops.” They debate the excessive free throws, the late-game shot chucking, and whether Pat Riley and the Miami Heat crossed an unwritten line in pursuit of history. After venting their frustrations, Michael pivots into a new mindset: if the scoring ceiling has been shattered, then maybe it's time for real scorers to go hunting for even bigger nights. Somewhere in the middle of the discussion, Michael shares stories about his own infamous eating challenges — including downing 81 wings in honor of Kobe's 81 and attempting a 10-patty Whataburger burger — which leads to a quick phone call to confirm that these stories are actually true. The conversation then shifts briefly to NFL free agency, including the Chiefs signing Kenneth Walker and the fallout from the Ravens' rescinded trade for Maxx Crosby, before circling back to the night's original controversy — including the curious appearance of A'ja Wilson at Bam's postgame press conference. The episode closes with Andres explaining the lengths he is willing to in order to get his daughter in school — and Michael explains why that strategy would never fly in the Black community.

Welcome to the Legal Nurse Podcast, hosted by Pat Iyer. In this compelling episode, Pat Iyer delves into the key topic of integrity and ethical behavior within the legal nurse consulting (LNC) profession. Drawing from her extensive experience, she shares real-world stories that highlight how both attorneys and legal nurse consultants can face serious consequences when ethical boundaries are crossed. From mishandled retainers to tampering with medical records, Pat Iyer makes it clear that integrity is not just a professional choice; it's the cornerstone of lasting credibility and success. Throughout the episode, Pat Iyer addresses some of the most common ethical dilemmas LNCs encounter, such as pressure from attorneys to act dishonestly or the temptation to take on cases that lack merit. She emphasizes the importance of transparent business practices, detailed billing, and steadfast refusal to participate in unethical actions. Listeners are guided on how to handle difficult situations with subcontractors and clients, including setting clear boundaries and protecting professional relationships with contracts and ethical standards. Whether you're an experienced LNC or just starting, this episode provides actionable advice on building a reputation you can be proud of. Pat Iyer reminds us that it only takes a moment to lose integrity, but a lifetime to build it. Tune in to discover practical tips for navigating ethical challenges, establishing honest business practices, and standing firm against unethical requests. By the end, you'll feel confident and prepared to lead your LNC business with professionalism and integrity. What You'll Learn in This Episode on Avoiding Client Conflicts and Unethical Requests as an LNC Here are 5 discussion questions answered in the podcast: What are some common unethical requests LNCs might receive from attorneys, and how should they respond to them? What risks are there in allowing a plaintiff, rather than an attorney, to pay for your services as an LNC? Pat Iyer stressed that it only takes seconds to destroy integrity. Can you think of ways an LNC might unknowingly risk their reputation? Why does Pat Iyer place such high value on quickly and honestly communicating concerns about a case's viability, rather than just accepting all cases? What can happen in the “small world” of LNCs if someone gains a reputation for unethical practices? A highly influential 2000 glyphosate safety study long cited by regulators worldwide was retracted after evidence showed it was ghostwritten by Monsanto scientists and misrepresented as independent research Internal company emails revealed Monsanto planned, wrote, and celebrated the paper as a strategic tool to defend Roundup and Roundup Ready crops during a crucial period of expiring patents Despite ghostwriting being exposed in a 2017 litigation, the study continued shaping research, regulation, and public perception for years, accumulating more than 1,300 citations before a long-delayed retraction The journal admitted the study relied on unpublished Monsanto data while ignoring existing toxicity research, showing how selective evidence can quietly shape policy for years The glyphosate case reflects widespread unethical research across health and medicine, showing why you need to question consensus, examine incentives, and protect your health rather than trust the system blindly

Some of the most damaging financial advice doesn't look shady at all. It looks responsible. It looks optimized. And it looks great on a spreadsheet. This episode breaks down one of the most unethical practices James sees in financial planning, not selling high-fee products, but using projections and tax strategies to justify an advisor's fee while ignoring the life those numbers are supposed to support. The problem starts when advisors lead with “value creation” instead of purpose. Tax savings, Roth strategies, and optimized projections can be manipulated to look impressive, especially when spending is kept artificially low and retirement is delayed by default. The math may be correct, but the outcome can quietly cost years of freedom, experiences, and time.Using a real case study, James shows how the same tax strategy looks wildly different once spending actually reflects the life someone wants to live. When travel, generosity, and earlier retirement enter the plan, the projected tax “value” shrinks, not because the strategy is bad, but because the goal changed. That's the point most people miss. This episode reframes what good advice should look like. Financial planning should start with how you want to spend your time, who you want to be with, and what matters most in your life. The tax strategy, investment strategy, and cash-flow plan exist to support that, not replace it.-Advisory services are offered through Root Financial Partners, LLC, an SEC-registered investment adviser. In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery, I walk through a simple weekend that turned into a powerful reminder about standards, responsibility, and what it really means to live with ethics in your business and in your life. I talk about family time, climbing Camelback, and getting invited into a world of supercar owners and high level business players. But the heart of the message is not the cars or the scenery. It is the internal battle we face when we know we are not living up to who we say we are. I tell a story about driving through winding mountain roads with people who had far more experience than I did. I was out of my league. They had done the reps. They knew the roads. They trusted their skill. I did not yet. That experience brought up fear, hesitation, and a deep awareness of how it feels to step into a space where others are operating at a higher level. It reminded me that growth is a process. You earn certainty through practice, not by comparing yourself to someone who has simply done it longer. This became the framework for the larger message of the episode. Most people think ethics is just not lying, not cheating, and not stealing. We equate being a good person with avoiding obvious wrongs. But I push the idea further. Ethics is also about doing what you know you are supposed to do for your family, for your body, and for your business. It is about living up to the standard you set for yourself. And when you do not follow through, when you stop pushing the envelope, when you leave everything as an option, you are stealing from yourself. You are stealing from your family. You are stealing from your future. That is why many walk around with anxiety, restlessness, and constant pressure. It is not the client who might fall out of escrow. It is not the market. It is not the lead who is not answering. It is the burden of knowing you are out of integrity with your own moral compass. You are not doing the things you said you would do. You are negotiating with your standards. You are ignoring the internal cues that used to feel heavy but now barely register. I use the example of overeating during Thanksgiving and how quickly I felt the weight of it. I felt it mentally, physically, and emotionally because I knew it was not aligned with my standard. But I corrected course immediately. I returned to my routine. I shortened the leash. Many people do not. They have ignored the signals for so long that they no longer connect their misery with their behaviors. They have drifted so far from their standard that they no longer see how they are cheating themselves. The same thing happens in business. When you promise yourself that you will prospect, or follow up, or show up to the office, and you do not, that is unethical. When you let everything become optional, when you blame the market or another agent or your clients, you avoid the truth. The real ethical violation is not doing the work. The real theft is the theft of opportunity, progress, and stability from the people who trust you the most. The message of this episode is simple. If you feel uneasy, anxious, or constantly behind, look in the mirror. The gap between your moral compass and your behaviors creates misery. Close that gap. Raise your actions to match your standard. Stop stealing from your business. Stop stealing from your family. And stop lying to yourself about why you are not where you want to be. You came into this industry to prosper. Act like it. Live like it. Hold your ethics to a higher standard and everything in your life will begin to move forward with power and clarity. Reader Reflection Questions Where in your life or business are you leaving things as an option when you know they should be non negotiable What standards have you set for yourself that you have quietly drifted away from How would your results change if you treated every responsibility as a moral obligation to your family and your future Notable Quotes "There are levels to everything and if something is required in your life it is your duty to rise to that level" "Not showing up is not being ethical because you are stealing from yourself and from your family" "The gap between your moral compass and your behaviors is the misery many walk around with every day" Follow A.Z. Most parents know what goes into raising children: the time spent changing diapers in inopportune places; the hours of worrying—about what to feed them, how to educate them, how to protect them and keep them healthy; the countless hours devoted to dance classes, summer camps, pediatricians, and piano lessons—all investments meant to give them the best chance in life. Most of us would do anything to help our kids become the most successful and happiest versions of themselves. But what if we could start earlier? At the molecular level. What if we could ensure our babies were healthier, smarter, and stronger, before they even took their first breath? Right now, several biotech companies are doing just that. They offer embryo screening for couples undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). These companies don't just score embryos for disease risk, which has become standard practice for anyone undergoing IVF—they go further. Nucleus Genomics promises “optimization” of traits like heart health and cancer resistance, as well as intelligence, longevity, body mass index, baldness, eye color, hair color, etc. It even suggests it may predict a predisposition to become an alcoholic. In the future, we may be able to more than just screen and select. We'll be able to make tweaks to our own embryos in order to “optimize” them. This isn't something out of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. It's the very real, and near, future. Some would argue it's already here. It all creates profound and critical questions. So we hosted a debate: Is it ethical to design our unborn children? And are we morally obligated to do so when the risks of abstaining include serious diseases? Or does designing babies cross a line? Is it wrong to play God and manipulate humanity's genetic heritage? Arguing that designing babies is not only an ethical choice, but indeed a moral imperative, are Jamie Metzl and Dr. Allyson Berent. Jamie is a technology and healthcare futurist, who was a member of the World Health Organization Expert Advisory Committee on Human Genome Editing. He's also written several best-selling books on this subject, including Hacking Darwin: Genetic Engineering and the Future of Humanity. Allyson is a veterinarian who has become an incredible force for genetic research since her daughter, Quincy, was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome. She serves as chief science officer of the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics and chief development officer at a biotechnology company, where she helps accelerate gene therapy programs for Angelman syndrome. Arguing that designing babies is unethical are O. Carter Snead and Dr. Lydia Dugdale. Carter is a bioethicist and law professor at Notre Dame. He served as general counsel to the President's Council on Bioethics under George W. Bush and as an appointed member of UNESCO's International Bioethics Committee. He is also an appointed member of the Pontifical Academy for Life, which advises the pope on bioethics. Lydia is a physician, medical ethicist, and professor of medicine at Columbia University, where she serves as director of the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. She is also Co-Director of Clinical Ethics at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. It's a critical debate you won't want to miss.
