For this season's break, we are going back to some of our favorite episodes. This is TFTSB episode 199, where we talked to Jackson Lanzig(NYX, Batman Beyond, Star Trek) about one of his favorite books Tale Of Sand by Jim Henson, Jerry Juhl, and Ramon K Perez. In the spirit of re-runs, this felt like an obvious first choice given the infinite re-readability of this incredible visual story. This was such fun book, and Jackson was such a delight. Medvirkende: Jasmin Gabay & Magnus Juhl Andersen. Ekspert: Jytte Vikkelsøe. In part two of a two part series, Mark, George & Tej sit down with Anne Deacon Juhl and discuss the anodizing industry, exploring her journey, visionary perspectives, unique expertise, and the challenges and opportunities within the field. We delve into the importance of education, sustainability, and customer relations, while also addressing misconceptions and defining what makes a world-class anodizer. We explore the readiness for implementing pulse anodizing, the translation of lab recipes to production, and the value of being part of anodizing organizations. Our discussion emphasizes the need for a structured approach to anodizing to meet customer demands and improve efficiency.

Dr. Damian Keter is interviewed by Dr. Tony Varela. The focus of their discussion is Dr. Keter's research, “Priorities in updating training paradigms in orthopedic manual therapy: an international Delphi study,” investigating expert consensus on modifications and adaptions to training paradigms required for orthopaedic manual therapy education (OMT) to align with current evidence. This conversation further explores how neurophysiological, psychological, and biomechanical principles inspires person-centered approaches and patient factor effects that contribute to successful OMT intervention.REFERENCES:Keter D, Griswold D, Learman K, Cook C. This week we had the pleasure of welcoming the incomparable JACKSON LANZING as a guest host! You know Jackson from such works as NYX, Batman Beyond, The Outsiders, Joyride, Star Trek, and many many more phenomenal comics, but we brought him here to talk about a different phenomenal comic: TALE OF SAND by Jim Henson, Jerry Juhl, & drawn by Ramon K Perez! Around 1967 to 1968, Jim Henson and Jerry Juhl were workshopping a ton of long-form screenplays, the most fully-formed of which was Tale of Sand, an epic adventure of absurdity and self-discovery. When this screenplay was rejected by the movie studios in the late 70's, it was shelved and lost, only to be found again many years later. Luckily for us, Ramon K. Perez brought this surreal vision into a stunning reality, telling a vibrant and deeply meaningful story with almost no dialogue. Tune in tomorrow to hear us deep dive into this delightful odyssey with the equally delightful Jackson Lanzing!

Our new mixtape comes from Copenhagen-based experimental R'n'B artist Karen Juhl. Her influences span from the likes of Laurie Anderson and Holly Herndon to Solange. Juhl is interested in exploring different approaches to songwriting in the 21st century, her style ranging from experimental electronics and contemplative poetry to antithetical rap. Her debut album Mother Tongue, released on the 22nd of September, is a dynamic manifestation of her self-written poems and diary entries. The album explores ideas of fragility within a hyper-globalised world, shifting in dynamics from intensely noisy and emotive to calm and reflective. When explaining her process of making the album, Juhl stated that ‘I brought diary notes and prose poems with me into the studio and worked on vocals in a stream-of-consciousness kind of way.' The album was released on the London-based art platform Inklingroom and worked on with fellow collaborator Johan Feierskov. Using mainly YouTube samples, MIDI instruments and vocals, the album feels incredibly fresh and immersive. The dysphoric and euphoric elements that occur between the music and the voice reflect the contrast and overlap in topics; from personal in relation to politics and gender in relation to time, the songs travel between childhood scenes, psychiatric wards and internet rooms. Alongside the album, an artbook is also set to be released in collaboration with graphic designer Paw Poulsen, that displays digital collages based on Juhl's lyrics for the album. The artbook aims to create an external layer to the album outside of the digital realm, seeking a space of intertwining narratives. The mixtape that Karen Juhl has created for us, entitled Threads, is described by herself as ‘a mix of moods, ideas, sounds, songs, and states. It's full of life, cuz it unfolds in the same way life does, forward and through unforeseen terrains. I wanted to honour sounds on the verge of becoming. My compositions "Face Wash" and "Home" were composed and recorded in this somewhat improvised manner. I delved further into my personal playlists, but I also asked my two close colleagues and friends Laust and Johan to share some of their magical memos with me.' Juhl presents her mixtape as ‘a gentle framework that holds something beautifully frayed—loose threads that just barely come together to form a picture.' GroupM global boss Christian Juhl says rival holdcos may now regret spending “billions of dollars on cookie-based solutions or personally identifiable information” as privacy moves dead centre in regulatory affairs.. Some, he says, “are going to be sitting on a razor's edge about whether they are going to be compliant ... it will definitely have ramifications for the industry.” In the meantime, he says a key challenge facing marketers across every facet of their business, and fundamentally “how they justify these massive budgets to their CEOs” comes down to measurement. But building post-privacy metrics and proxies, per Juhl, is probably the most “dynamic” – read challenging – part of his business. GroupM is building its own econometric or “full funnel” models for brands because, says ANZ CEO Aimee Buchanan, market mix models focused on shorter-term campaign metrics no longer cut it. Meanwhile, both Juhl and Buchanan have been pushing hard on carbon-based trading. Culling low performing, high emitting inventory is the easiest first step, says Buchanan, followed by stripping out digital weight from creative assets. But both bosses are less aggressive than previous statements around moving ad dollars based on emissions. Likewise, no hard mandates on getting staff back in the office beyond “probably more than we are right now,” per Juhl with hybrid flex built-in. For now, three days is a rule of thumb. Plus, Juhl is unsure how long brands will “pay more for less” on linear TV – and the world's biggest media buyer thinks the world's biggest streaming service, Netflix, has an opportunity to start integrating brands. Programansvarlig: Sofie Rye.

On February 3, 1959, Buddy Holly was in the middle of the tour from hell and would do anything to avoid another three hundred mile, overnight bus ride that already had inflicted frostbite on another band member. That determination changed American popular music forever. Buddy Holly and Waylon Jennings in a NY photo booth. In mid-January, when the three band members got to NY, Allsup and Bunch checked into a hotel, but Waylon Jennings stayed with Buddy and Maria. Time was of the essence and Buddy figured he needed as much time as possible to get Waylon up to speed. It was also during this time period that Maria informed Buddy that she was pregnant, news they kept even from Buddy's parents. The Surf Ballroom, Clear Lake , Iowa After the equipment was offloaded, Buddy collared the Surf Ballroom's manager Carroll Anderson and asked him about chartering a plane. Anderson knew of an associate named Jerry Dwyer, who operated a flying service out of a small regional airport in nearby Mason City. Dwyer was out at a Chamber of Commerce meeting, but Anderson was able to get a hold of a pilot who worked for Dwyer, 21 year old Roger Peterson, who immediately agreed to fly the charter. During an intermission before Dion and the Belmonts and Buddy Holly finished the show, word began to spread among the musicians that Buddy was going to fly. Initially, there were two seats on board and Holly figured that he would offer them to his two band members, Jennings and Allsup. But once the Big Bopper found out about the charter, he approached Jennings and asked if he could take his spot, as long as Buddy said it was okay. Waylon Jennings knew that JP Richardson was quite sick and he was also a headliner so he agreed to give up his seat. When Holly heard that Jennings had bailed on the flight, he figured Jennings was just too scared to fly. Laughing at his bass guitarist, he said, “I hope your bus freezes up!,” Jennings responded without thinking. “I hope your plane crashes,” a comment he would both keep private and feel guilty about for many subsequent years. The wreckage of Buddy Holly's plane, February 3, 1959 None of the nearby farmers noticed anything unusual until Cerro Gordo county sheriff deputies pulled up to the farm of Albert Juhl, who opened the gate to his property and watched as the two policeman rapidly headed west, quickly able to see the wreckage of the plane in the distance, lodged where it came to a stop against a barbed wire fence separating the Juhl farm from some adjoining properties. As they pulled up to the scene, the body of the pilot was visible in the wreckage, and what was eventually identified as the bodies of Valens and Buddy Holly were within twenty feet of the plane's remains. JP Richardson was hurled from the crash over the barbed wire fence, lying forty feet away as small amounts of snow were swirled around the bodies and the wreckage, Buddy Holly's grave, Lubbock, Texas Back in Mason City, Buddy Holly's brother arrived to pick up his brother's body and take it back for burial in Lubbock, visiting the crash site before the plane wreckage was hauled off to a hangar at the airport. Ritchie Valens grave, San Fernando, California Valens was put on a train to Southern California. By the weekend, funerals were conducted for all four of the deceased, family members and fans still in a state of shock. Crash site today, Clear Lake, Iowa The site of the crash is now a makeshift shrine and pilgrimage site despite the fact that it is situated on private property. Alfred Juhl sold his land in the early sixties to another local family, the Nicholas'. Over time they have erected a simple memorial to the musicians, as well as Roger Peterson on the exact spot along the fence line where the plane came to a halt. To guide those interested in finding the spot they have erected a sculpture on the highway resembling Buddy's horn rimmed glasses, marking the path that leads to the site. Every year they purposely do not plant corn or soybeans on the path or in the vicinity of the markers, encouraging visitors to access this remarkable spot at no charge. And from the very first days after the crash, locals have noticed that people do come to the site, first just a trickle from the region but today, over sixty years later, by the thousands from all over the world,
