We've all experienced those people that seem hot one minute and cold the next. Their mixed signals keep us wondering if they want to be besties or secretly planning our demise. The ups and downs of it can feel like a whiplashing rollercoaster. Solving the mystery can seem impossible, but we might just have your answers! In this episode, Justin and Abi are joined by their long-time friend and fellow Life Consultant, Rachel, to shine a light on disorganized attachment and its impact on relationships. As three people who've operated out of it, they unpack the origins of this pattern, the push-pull dynamics it creates, and the internal shame, fear, and powerlessness that come with it. From childhood trauma to emotional incest, they reflect on how early wounds shape our nervous systems—and what it takes for people with disorganized attachment to create stable connections. If you've ever felt like you're too much, too broken, or too confusing to love… this episode is for you. There is a path toward clarity, healing, and secure connection—and it starts with understanding. Don't miss out. Matt Droguett is a Life Consultant and Self-Sabotage expert who is passionate about encouraging men in living whole and healthy lives, and who firmly believes in the importance of doing his own inner work. Hailing from the Hawaiian islands, he brings his experience, expertise, and attention to men caught in patterns of sabotaging their marriage, particularly through use of pornography. His dream is to see emotionally healthy people go viral. As is our custom, we talk about recovery - Matt's passion is not about helping men quit using porn; what he wants is for them to be able to live whole and healthy lives! Porn just happens to often be one of the biggest obstacles. We further discuss the challenge of the Spiritual Bypass and why you can't just pray away your addiction problems. We explore at some length the difference between a thriving spiritual practice that builds a strong connection with God and doing all the same religious behaviors as a way of avoiding yourself. Along the way, we talk about men and leadership, and the balance of “owning and leading your ship,” with humility. Drawing on his coaching background, and me reflecting on running men's recovery groups, we talk about a very practical issue - how much should a person in recovery tell their partner about slips, lapses, relapses, wayward thoughts, or other means of acting out? There's a balance to strike between overshare and deception, and we aim to articulate what that is. The important thing to remember if you have lied to and betrayed your partner is that your partner's biggest need is for safety. Finally, we talk about the necessity for community, for spiritual practices, and for regularly doing spiritual practices in community. Rarely do we understand the far reaching affects of our spiritual beliefs on our psychological wellbeing. Under close examination, participating in any faith institution can have beautiful and messy repercussions in our lives. Understanding what we believe about the Source that created us is necessary to managing and healing our emotional state.  In this episode Rachel Hughes, a good friend and fellow Life Consultant, joins Abi and Justin. Abi shares about the affects her spiritual beliefs have had on her journey to physical healing and the impact that's had on her mental health. Rachel opens up about the influence her own beliefs had on the loss of her mother-in-law. Together they dialogue about deconstructing the religious beliefs that hurt them, the hardships that have shaken the pillars of their faith, the hope they've found through redefining their view of God, and how pain can eclipse our view of a loving and involved Creator.  If you've ever wondered how your beliefs about God affect your life, this episode will help you better understand yourself and have compassion on your story.

She is a multi-award winning journalist with 2 Emmy nominations, a Murrow and multiple SPJ (Society for Professional Journalists) awards. She is host of The Communification Podcast - a podcast that will help you unlock your communication potential and feel less alone in your communication struggles. Visit the podcast here or click image below https://www.communificationpodcast.com/ This is Malika's second appearance on Your Intended Message. You can listen to her first appearance in episode 82. Here's an example of a good news story done well. Malika interviews community volunteer, Kaimana Brummel, talking about "Kaukau 4 Keiki" a food share program for children when they are not in school. Notice how well Kaimana conveys her message. https://www.kitv.com/news/local/urgent-need-for-volunteer-delivery-drivers-to-feed-maui-countys-hungry/article_422fc328-60fe-11ec-a0c3-cf510670aeab.html   Excerpts from this conversation with Malika Dudley 02:48 Probably the newscast that you're going to identify and try to get on would be the morning show, instead of the evening show. Morning shows are longer. Number one, they are more fluid. And they allow for that good news to kind of work its way into the forecast. Every newscast wants to also have good news.   03:13 If you're trying to get into an evening newscast, you're trying to get in the kicker, probably. So that's the last little tidbit that gets shown right before they say goodbye. And usually it's something light and fun to kind of wrap up the show and not leave people with that bad taste in their mouth of the everything is doom and gloom. It's the universe, the kids from the University of Hawaii, that won in Las Vegas with their driverless remote control car. So it's something that is intriguing, but not necessarily a new story, but can be fun.  Oh, that's cool. You kind of want to be in that category of, Oh, that's cool. If you're going for the evening newscasts, it would be something small like that. So there are several different things that you can do. One thing is make it easy for us. How do you make it easy for the reporter or the producer or the anchor to have you on the show? One way is to offer up your party's as something that you can link this to current events. So what's going on right now? And how can you help someone to solve that problem? And this is something that you've thought about a lot. All business leaders do. So you probably already know the answer to that question. So let's say that you're a Life Consultant, and it happens to be January. Send out your press release and explain the things that you would be able to say on the air. Now keep in mind that you're probably going to get, at most three minutes of time. So a three minute interview. So you don't want to overwhelm the press release with all the things, you know, you want to give them bullet points. So get good at writing press releases. Here's a paragraph about what I do. Here's what I can tell you on the newscast. Bullet points. Here is a little bit about me and my background, and, and then provide assets. Media assets, like video, headshots, just whatever you think they might be able to use on the newscast, we definitely need visuals. If you're talking about, so let's let's go with that life coach analogy. Here are the five things that you can do to have a great year this year. And you have B roll of one of your coaching clients exercising, right, and that's number one is exercise. So you send them a 15 second clip of you know, someone exercising, sure, we could go through our files and find the B roll video of exercise. ----- 12:37 So if you can get your friends to email the news at whatever the news station email is because that email goes to everybody in the news organization, if you can get your people to email in and say, hey, wow, thank you so much for that segment by data data that this morning, I learned data data data, I would so love to see more of that. It doesn't go on deaf ears. I mean, I can't tell you, if you guys didn't listen to the last podcast that we did, that I did with George, where we talked about 20% of the people love you 20% of the people hate you. And then the ones in the middle are indifferent. The indifferent ones never email the news. The haters do. And the lovers Oh, I wish they did more. And so when we get one of those emails, the news director legit will send that out to everyone and say, Look, guys, we did such a great job. And just know that when you're doing your job, people like Eddie, appreciate it. And so I can't tell you how much that could actually influence whether or not you as this expert. Hopefully you're really good at what you're doing. Right and you are good on camera and it's something that definitely helps right I mean, if you if this is in your wheelhouse and you can talk in sound bites, you've got a really great pitch. I don't see why they wouldn't say yes to something like that. And when you have your peeps your squad, you know emailing in to say hey, that was great. That could help so get your your friends your fans to to vouch for you. Because because the media notices when people right, the media probably gets enough nasty messages and not enough encouraging messages. When they do get encouraging messages, hey, we're doing something good. Maybe we should do more of that. Yeah, and don't overwhelm them though, right? I mean, you don't want to ask, like don't put it on social media, and then they get 50 emails. ----- ----more---- Your Intended Message is the podcast about how you can boost your career and business success by honing your communication skills. We'll examine the aspects of how we communicate one-to-one, one to few and one to many – plus that important conversation, one to self. Arielle and I met a few years ago when we bonded over our love for Jewish ritual. When I began the Be.Side Project several friends reached out and asked “have you talked to Arielle yet?!”. We happily reconnected over our shared understanding that talking about death should be both accessible and intergenerational. It’s always fascinating to hear the early death experiences that lead people to their life’s work. Dr Annetta Mallon Annetta is an End of Life Consultant and Doula, professional public speaker, writer and editor, academic, social researcher, education advocate, psychotherapist who specialises in grief, loss, PTSD, injury and trauma recovery, and personal growth and development, an artist, and a professional mentor. Annetta has been speaking at public events and conferences both in Australia and internationally for several years, with a focus on end of life and funeral cost transparency for the past two. A passionate consumer rights advocate who prioritises transparency, the absence of itemisation in the corporate funeral business model and information transfer about funeral rights and choice is a current focus of many of her lectures and presentations. In her academic roles Annetta is an Honorary Adjunct and death and dying specialist lecturer with Western Sydney University, and a unit convenor and lecturer with Navitas Sydney City Campus for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in sociology, social science, and health science. Annetta is currently developing a monograph of EOL Doulas in Australia for an international academic publisher, and is writing up the findings from an international qualitative research project of her own initiative which saw End Of Life (EOL) Doulas in four countries interviewed. The project considered End of Life Doula perspectives on the role of death literacy in helping to form compassionate communities and provide continuity of care for clients at end of life and after death, as well as discussions of professional identity. Annetta was awarded her PhD in Social Science in early 2016; her thesis investigated art therapist professional identity formation, encompassing creative arts-based qualitative research, feminism, pedagogy, personal stories and narratives, health sociology, and professional practice. Annetta’s work in the fields of somatic psychotherapy and allied health saw her working in Australia, Italy, and the USA, creatively engaging the personal narratives and stories of her clients in order to support their recovery from injury, grief, trauma, and loss for over twenty years. Her client base included military and paramilitary personnel, and survivors of rape, incest, and domestic violence, and she brings this experience and skillset to her current work with those whose lives have been affected by violent and/or unexpected death. Annetta’s work in this area includes grief support, counselling, and mentoring, funeral planning and funeral celebrancy. In her private practice Annetta offers a wide range of atheist and secular end of life and after-death services to both human and pets, and regularly holds talks and education events to promote death literacy and awareness of rights at end of life, the importance of advance planning for health, end of life, and funerals. She once spent an interesting year working for NSW Police Headquarters as a writer, content developer, and editor for their intranet education program, and spends a great deal of time with her dog Cully (a seasoned research assistant). 100-word ‘highlights bio’ Dr Annetta Mallon is an End of Life Consultant and Doula, highly sought after for professional and academic guest lectures and speaking engagements. Her end of life work combines in-depth training and experience as an artist, collaborator, writer, and professional mentor with her extensive academic and allied health skillset to offer high-quality secular services for both peers, and human and pet clients. Funerals you attend before you die are a popular item in Annetta’s service list. A grief and loss expert who worked in Australia, Italy, and the USA, she now includes EFT for traumatic grief and exposure to violent death. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/deathdialogues/message

[The bullying] had me study psychology, understand people, get into Buddhism, and now a life coach using my gifts.” Her experience also helped her find compassion and grow. Today on the podcast I have a special guest to share with you; my friend, Josh Cearbaugh. We have built a friendship over the past four years and have seen each other’s families grow and thrive in many ways. Josh is a Life Consultant who leads people through internal transformation; connecting people to their heart, identifying areas where they find themselves stuck, and creating practical strategies to transition us to a place of thriving. Oftentimes, the places where we get stuck are the very places God wants to give us the most freedom so we can help others who are stuck in the same environment. Josh shares how he walked through a season where he didn’t give his emotions a place in his life; they had no value and were pushed aside. During this time, he didn’t know how to care for himself emotionally or process through pain; it resulted in an emotional and physical breakdown that manifested through a lack of safe environments. He decided that he could either stay in that place or climb out of the pit. He chose to fight for his emotional health and process through emotions and deep places of pain. Walking through his past experiences, he began to dismantle areas of pain and bring healing. It began a passion for seeing others walk in freedom; helping to identify the root cause of their lack and create steps to wholeness. Thus began his consulting practice. Josh has also created an invaluable resource called the Jumpstart Your Life eCourse; pulling from years of developing the most effective tools and philosophies to see tangible change in the people he has worked with in his practice.
