Papa Rick passed away unexpectedly on Feb 1st, 2024. This episode is our tribute to him. We could fill many hours talking about the impact that our dad had on our lives, but we managed to edit it into a 90 minute episode so we could share it with the world and with the parenting realm that meant so much to him. We hope this episode serves to shed light on Papa Rick's life, as well as his passing, and honors his memory in the process. The podcast will live on and we hope you come with us as we navigate a new path forward. Hi Friends,I'm on here today, unfortunately, to inform you of Papa Rick's passing. Today is Feb 29th – leap day – 2024. Papa Rick passed away on Feb 1st, just after midnight from a massive heart attack. He was at home with his partner, Judy, and neither she nor paramedics could successfully resuscitate him. Over the past 4 weeks, my two brothers and I, along with the help of our family and friends, have been sorting through our father's life, taking care of things legally and financially, and we planned and held his memorial services. Since returning home from all of this, I've been in a deep state of grief and just taking things day by day. As you can see, the podcast was put on pause. I knew I wanted to continue this project for all the reasons we started it in the first place. I just wasn't sure how to move forward and keep all the parts we both loved about it going. I knew I needed some time. I knew I needed to pivot. And I knew I needed to find a way to honor my dad before I could keep moving forward without him. I honestly don't know if I would have even had the courage to get started if it weren't for him agreeing to be my cohost. Part of the services we held for him included a request for donations to the podcast in lieu of flowers. At first, I felt very unsettled about this, but our pastor and my brothers felt strongly that it's what dad would have wanted. After some time, I came to feel very honored that every person I met from his life and his church told me how he was always talking about the podcast and how proud he was of me and of this project we were doing together. So, if you are feeling pulled to honor Papa Rick in any way, I will post the donation link below. Rest assured, these funds are going directly into the business account and being used to fund the costs of producing the podcast. And we are so grateful for any and all support you have to offer.Last, but certainly not least, we will be getting back to production in the next week or two. Our first episode back will be an episode with myself and my two brothers, honoring my dad's influence and legacy on us, as well as the parenting world and beyond. We will share more about his life, his passing, and his parenting philosophies too. Keep an eye out for the release of that episode – click subscribe to receive reminders – and tune in with us. After that episode, I will resume the podcast with our guest experts and a few new surprises on the way. Stay Tuned, Thank You for being here, Happy Parenting and Good Luck Out There. To Donate in Honor of Papa Rick: https://everloved.com/life-of/richard-p-hayes/donate Thanks to our monthly supporters Rick Hayes

Alex Smith is in the rewiring business. No, he's not an electrician, but he's rewiring how people think and have conversations around money and parenting. On the money side, Alex works with doctors, nurses, and entrepreneurs to help them increase and control their monthly cash flow without having to work more hours and without keeping their money in tax jail so that they can work because they want to, not because they feel they have to.On the parenting side, Alex's most important role will always be father and husband. He is always having the conversation of "how do I become a good father when I wasn't able to see one growing up? What conversations need to be had with myself, my spouse and my children? What needs to die in me to become the man I said I want to be?"It hasn't been an easy journey but it has been so worthwhile.Socials:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@medicalmoneymultiplierInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/alex.w.smith10/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/alex.w.smith10TikTok: @alex.w.smith10Episode Resources:Influence by Robert Cialdini Watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@therelationalparentingpodcast/videosEmail us your parenting questions and stories!: jennie@jenniebee.co.Help us do what we do with a small monthly contribution: https://www.patreon.com/TheRelationalParentCoach/membershipJoin the WAITLIST for The Relational Parenting Village! - A New Monthly Membership Program where parents gather for community, growth, accountability and support. In parenting, it's vital to recognize that punishment and rescue are two sides of the same maladaptive coin. When we exclusively rely on punishment or rescue (or DISMISSAL) as our only responses to our child's big feelings, we inadvertently rob our children of opportunities to build their resilience. It's essential to be there for your child when they're in pain without resorting to rescuing them from it. It's also essential not to punish or dismiss big feelings as this is always felt as rejection from the parent. Rejection only feeds the inner turmoil and creates bigger problems in the future. Pulling our child in, with arms wide open, and supporting them through the rough parts of life is how they will become resilient adults. And in our resilience - we find the path that leads us to our happiest life.In this episode: - I quiz Papa Rick on what he's learned so far about Relational Parenting- We provide practical tips on how parents can support their children through difficult emotions and problem-solving, allowing them to grow and learn.- We help you set realistic expectations for your child- Discuss the undeniable repetition you will endure if you truly want to be your child's guide. Not just the nagging parent telling them what to do their whole life.- How grace for your kids and rewiring the way your speak to your kids will actually help YOU be kinder to YOU. Y'all, the facial expressions in this one are priceless - if you aren't already, go watch this episode on YouTube lol! I swear it's worth it. Praising your kids is GOOD, right? It's positive reinforcement, it's connection, it's showing your kids you're proud of them and you get to celebrate together! Yes. And no. Not all praise is created equal when it comes to parenting. There is praise that builds outer-reward/response systems that turn our kids into people pleasers. And there is praise that builds a child's INNER reward system which results in self-confidence, self-trust, worthiness and resilience to failure. Consciously praising our kids in a way that puts the choice, desire and power back in THEIR hands is KEY. Interestingly, gestures produced the highest self-evaluations. Thus, praise without explicit attributions motivated as well or better than praise explicitly focused on effort, which may suggest that children interpret ambiguous praise in the most beneficial manner." - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4145712/Effort vs. Outcome Praise: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6176062/Watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@therelationalparentingpodcast/videosEmail us your parenting questions and stories!: jennie@jenniebee.co.Help us do what we do with a small monthly contribution: https://www.patreon.com/TheRelationalParentCoach/membershipJoin the WAITLIST for The Relational Parenting Village! - A New Monthly Membership Program where parents gather for community, growth, accountability and support. Parents get overwhelmed, overstimulated, impatient, uncomfortable, lose safety and hit their threshold every single day. It happens to all of us. When we are working inside of RELATIONSHIP - how we mitigate these very real experiences is KEY. Building tolerance through breath work, mindset shifts, expanding your upper limit, and coping BEFORE you snap is of the upmost importance if you want to avoid the harmful effects of anger, abandonment, and fear being the consistent experiences of your child(ren) or partner. In this week's episode, we read you a very brave parent's email to us about her experience of her mother's coping skill that was hurtful to her into adulthood. She shares with us the healing she experienced when she became a mother and had a conversation with her mom about those hurtful actions, and the empathy she felt in her own body about wanting to "run away" sometimes. We give you tangible actions for recognizing when you are emotionally and mentally abandoning your kiddos (and you probably don't realize you're doing it). We also encourage parents to give yourselves GRACE and acceptance for the things you cannot control, and stand strong in the things you can. This episode is for the parents, but it's also for the (adult) kids. In what ways did your parents cause harm that you now have an understanding of when you look back as an adult? Do you see where they were coming from? There's a REALLY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT and GIVEAWAY at the end of this episode - make sure you tune it!Watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@therelationalparentingpodcast/videosEmail us your parenting questions and stories!: jennie@jenniebee.co.Help us do what we do with a small monthly contribution: https://www.patreon.com/TheRelationalParentCoach/membershipJoin the WAITLIST for The Relational Parenting Village! - A New Monthly Membership Program where parents gather for community, growth, accountability and support. Today we're talking all things siblings! Parenting multiple children, navigating conflict in ways that will serve their relationship long term, and avoiding the pitfalls of birth order roles. The most important takeaway this week is this: the relationship you have with your parenting partner will model relationships to your children. The way you relate to and treat your children will teach them how to relate to their siblings, the way you help them navigate their sibling relationships will determine their sibling closeness/lifelong relationship, and ALL of these first experiences will determine their success in relationships with peers, authority figures, friends and romantic partners for the rest of their lives. This is the glue, guys. It's easy to succumb to the trap of making life as "easy" as possible. Seeking ease and comfort at all costs is actually the pitfall of humanity. Without challenge and obstacles - there would be nothing to overcome, to prove to ourselves we are strong and capable. If we never flex that muscle of "overcoming" hardship - we lose it. And if we don't teach it to our kids...how the heck are they gonna navigate the big bad world as adults? On our never-ending quest for healthy parenting skills - be sure to add this one to the tool belt. Yes, our job is to protect them, but it's not our job to hide reality from them. This week's episode is a little vulnerable, a little more experiential and a little revealing of some of our personal flaws and stories. I received an email a few weeks ago from one of the parents on my newsletter list and it reminded me of something I've experienced and I've known many other parents to experience as well: something called “mom rage” or “parent rage” (because it happens to ALL types of parents and primary caregivers). I really wanted to do an episode on this because it's something that a lot of parents also tend to feel alone in. Or we convince ourselves that no one else feels like this. And that's fair - because most of us don't talk about it when we have those shame-inducing feelings toward our kids. It's hard to admit. So let's normalize it. Let's bring it into the light so we can deal with it, heal it, and move forward with more skills for raising kids without trauma. Thank you to my reader, for being so vulnerable and honest, and for allowing me to share this message with the parenting world! Here is the link for the Emotions Wheel we discussed: https://www.visualcapitalist.com/a-visual-guide-to-human-emotion/For more information on Relational Parent Coaching services, please visit www.jenniebee.co.Watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@therelationalparentingpodcast/videosEmail us your parenting questions and stories!: jennie@jenniebee.co.Help us do what we do with a small monthly contribution: https://www.patreon.com/TheRelationalParentCoach/membershipJoin the WAITLIST for The Relational Parenting Village! - A New Monthly Membership Program where parents gather for community, growth, accountability and support. Hello and Welcome back to episode 004 of the Relational Parenting Podcast! I'm Jennifer Hayes and this week I wanted to take a step back and address a concept that has come to the forefront of our collective consciousness in recent years: Generational Trauma, OR Generational Cycles. The awareness and understanding of the patterns of behavior, thinking and potentially abuse that get passed down through familial lines is wonderful and I'm so excited that more and more people are becoming aware of it and making changes. But I've also noticed that the emphasis is on changing the future and very little acknowledgment of healing the past. So I wanted to dive into that with you and really explore what it takes to ACTUALLY work with the generational cycles in your own life in order to be the parent you want to be for your children. This subject is not an easy one to traverse and naturally forced my dad and I to have some very honest, hard and awkward conversations. We dove into things neither of us had ever discussed before and triggered some very deep, old wounds. And the results of those conversations are here in this episode. I can't wait to hear what you think, what you learned and if you have more questions on this topic, please comment or message me!. Hey Fandom! Welcome back to another round of Trash Talk Roundtable with your hosts Rick Hayes, Corrina Hayes, Tony Lantz and Cory Viator. This week we all catch up together (0:00:00 - 17:10). Then we take a deep dive into the first episode of MTV's The Challenge season 38 Ride or Dies. The first episode was titled 'Don't Die For Me Argentina' (let's pretend they're not recycling this title from another season). We take you through all the drama, relationships, give thoughts on the newbies, who impressed us out the gate and who has us cringing, which teams we think are going to be a problem and which teams are going to be a flop. Plus we walk you through the daily, deliberation and elimination with details we noticed and possible easter eggs that you didn't notice (17:20 - 2:04:45). Next we break into Survivor season 43 EP 4 titled 'Show No Mercy' and whoooooaaa this was a fun one! We walk you all through the Survivor island and catch up with all the tribes, talk about the interesting reward challenge and the shocking win at the immunity challenge. Plus, we go into depth about what may have happened at the Coco tribe and how not going to tribal up to this point may have hurt them as a tribe moving forward. Lastly we go over our season winner picks to this point, our MVPs and update everyone on our Survivor fantasy draft (2:05:30 - END). Such a fun episode to go through, we hope you all enjoy it. Go follow us on social media to keep up with all our fantasy seasons including Challenge 38 and Survivor 43. Plus, you'll want to keep up on our charity project with none other than the man TJ Lavin himself.
