Conspiracy theory about Soviet cosmonauts

In this episode, I dive into a chilling specter of tales both eerie and mystifying, starting with the phenomenon of a kayaker nearly swallowed by a whale. We recount the adventure of Adrian Simancas, who, while kayaking in the Strait of Magellan, found himself lifted by the massive creature. As we explore this story, we reflect on not only the frightening nature of the encounter but also the curiosity of whales that can lead to such close interactions with humans.Next, we turn our attention to an inexplicable occurrence in Munich, Germany, where over 1,000 gravestones were marked with mysterious QR code stickers. Initially perplexed by the sudden appearance of these stickers, which simply provided names and locations of the deceased, the investigation revealed that a gardening company had affixed these codes for maintenance tracking. However, the audacity of placing such markings on graves led to an inquiry into potential property damage, and we discuss the implications of such oddities. As our conversation unfolds, we delve into the realm of conspiracy theories, focusing on the 'Lost Cosmonauts' narrative steeped in Cold War era secrecy regarding the Soviet space program. I share captivating details about Yuri Gagarin's historic flight, then pivot to unsettling hypotheses suggesting that other cosmonauts may have vanished during clandestine missions. With tales of alleged recordings from the Judica Cordiglia brothers revealing voices of cosmonauts in distress—images of desperation that haunt the void of space—I draw connections to the dark history of the Soviet regime's cover-ups, underscoring the rollercoaster of human ambition and the cost of silence in the face of tragedy.Throughout our exploration, I invite guests to contemplate the horror of history obscured by shadows and state-sponsored silence. The episode culminates in a contemplation of our fascination with such forgotten narratives—echoes of lives never celebrated, journeys never completed, and the haunting beauty wrapped in humanity's quest for mastery over the skies. As we close, I leave you with lingering questions about the boundaries of our knowledge and the secrets that may continue to hide just beyond the reaches of our understanding. Tune in for a blend of horror, mystery, and thought-provoking stories that dare to look beyond the veil of the known.

On June 12, 2024, a concerning situation began to unfold as an official NASA live stream featured audio that appeared to reveal a medical emergency unfolding on board the International Space Station. Although the incident turned out to be a false alarm, it served as a reminder of the dangers astronauts face while in orbit. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at several of the most alarming incidents that have occurred in the history of spaceflight, as well as occasional encounters with unidentified objects reported by astronauts during orbital operations. Space flight is a lofty goal for humanity, quite literally. As we have attempted to break the bonds of our own world, it has been plagued by danger and mistakes that have caused the heros who take on the risks, their lives. Whether a cosmonaut or astronaut, these men and women brave dangers by strapping 10,000 pounds of fuel behind them and ascend into the heavens. Its something to be admired. But during humanities short stent into space, things can go wrong. Today we will be talking about some of those stories. This week we discuss the Lost Cosmonaut conspiracy theory! - The theory is a belief that the Soviet Union launched manned spacecraft before Yuri Gagarin's historic flight in 1961, but covered up the failed missions and deaths of the cosmonauts involved. - The theory suggests that the Soviet government was so determined to beat the United States in the space race that they were willing to sacrifice the lives of their cosmonauts and cover up their failures. - What say you?
The 1950s and 1960s marked a time when the United States and the Soviet Union were in a proverbial space race to see who could be the first to successfully send human beings into outer space. But did the Soviet Union cover up several embarrassing and tragic accidents even before Yuri Gargarin was credited with being the first man to orbit the earth? Located 100km above sea level, this boundary is what separates aeronautics from astronautics. Despite the breathtaking complexity and amount of danger involved in spaceflight, it is a wonder that only 3 humans have met their end above the Karman line. The Russian cosmonauts who flew on the Soyuz 11 mission to board the world's first space station in 1971, were victims of an unfortunate series of mechanical failures which led to the fatal depressurization of their crew capsule. The three cosmonauts, Georgy Dobrovolsky, Vladislav Volkov, and Viktor Patsayev, are listed as the only humans to have died in space. But it took the Soviet Union two years to list their official cause of death. The Iron Curtain was in full effect and many parts of the Soviet Space Program were tightly guarded secrets. This airtight secrecy is, what some believe, would have made it possible that there were other casualties which never made it into the official records. At the height of the Cold War, the Soviet Union supposedly sent up doomed manned spaceflights before Yuri Gagarin was recognised officially as the first man in space. While the Soviet Union never formally acknowledged the existence of these lost cosmonauts, and neither has Russia since the end of the Cold War, some recordings made by two Italian brothers apparently intercepted transmissions from these doomed missions and have given credence to the story. But is it true?If you would like to get episodes early, and in extended video form, why not join our Patreon from as little as £3 per month?www.patreon.com/mysteryontherocks See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Today in the Cold, we have some harrowing real-life stories that sound like they're straight out of science fiction. We uncover chilling tales of the lost cosmonauts of 1950s and 60s Soviet Russia, including what may be actual audio from one of these failed missions. It includes a female cosmonaut no less! We also ponder the very different ethics which distinguished the American and Soviet space programs of the Cold War. This episode comes right on the heels of Elon Musk's newest SpaceX endeavor - the Inspiration 4 - which is the first all-civilian mission to go into orbit. Our new space race - taking place mostly amongst our eccentric billionaire class, has a very different feel to it, and has certainly re-energized my passion for the stars. It's also gotten me thinking about the way we, as a culture, approach risk and danger as we venture back into manned space flight. Do check out the Inspiration4 homepage, as it details their mission including the pillars of leadership, hope, generosity, and prosperity that define it, and how the four crew members were chosen to exemplify these qualities. When Yuri Gagarin first went to space, was he boldly going where others had gone before? When Valentina Tereshkova broke the glass celestial ceiling had it already been cracked by a tragic earlier flight? The evidence might not be as stupid as you think.
Still Fucking sick! But not as sick as this Episode. Check out another Sofa King classic. On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we look at the conspiracy theory of the Lost Cosmonauts. (Finally, a conspiracy about space that isn't the moon landing hoax or lizard people!) Our official history says that on April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin was the first human being to ever leave the planet earth and orbit the earth. However, there are theories that this was not the truth—Gagarin was not the first person in space. In fact, the argument goes, there were several others who made it to space first, but they didn't succeed in making it back! So, no, the theory is not that the Lost Cosmonauts are actually lost. Indeed, they are all dead or living lies to cover up Soviet failures early in the space program. Remember that the Cold War hinged upon the Space Race, and losses in the form of cosmonaut deaths would equal defeat in this war. America lost astronauts in the Apollo 1 explosion, so why couldn't the Soviets as well? In fact, many people think they did lose people, and plenty of them. There is the case of Vladimir Ilyushin, the golden boy of the Soviet Union and the best test pilot alive at the time. Allegedly, he launched a week before Gagarin did, but he had difficulty landing and ended up being held by the Chinese for over a year, and his failure was covered up. There are also the creepy and fascinating recordings of the Judica-Cordiglia brothers in Italy. They allegedly started to hear the broadcasts of various Soviet craft in space, and then they started recording them. The records start small, build with some SOS calls from space, and end with a desperate woman who seems to burn to death re-entering the atmosphere. Is there something to this, or are the brothers just pulling a prank? Some of the Lost Cosmonauts turn out to be an art project, and lots of others seemed to have died in training but covered up. Who was Ivan Ivanovich, and why was his craft met with anger in the small Soviet Village where it crashed? Did the USSR try to launch a last minute moon shot to beat the US to the punch? Who was Valentin Bonderinko, and why did his horrible death by fire get covered up by the soviets? How many Lost Cosmonauts are there? Listen, laugh, learn. This week Ben and Shawn discuss the missing cosmonauts hypothesis ! Did the soviets send men and women into space and just hope they came back? In the 1950s and 60s, the United States and USSR were locked in a space race to land a human on the moon. As the Soviets excelled at being the first to launch a satellite and put the first human in space, much of the West feared the speed and advanced technology of their rivals. In the aftermath of the Cold War, many around the world began to think the Soviets were masters of propaganda, and they weren't as successful as they appeared to be. Were they knowingly killing cosmonauts and hiding their deaths for the sole purpose of being 'first'? Today we discuss the conspiracy of the Lost Cosmonauts.
GET THIS EPISODE AND A WEEKLY BONUS SHOW FOR $3 MONTH AT: www.patreon.com/crackpotpodcast The official story is that the Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet Cosmonaut, was the first human in space and he successfully orbited the Earth and returned home safely on April 12, 1961. However, there is a lot of evidence that leads us to believe there were many before him that made it into outer space but unfortunately never returned alive. This week Zach and Tim examine the evidence including recordings from the Judica-Cordiglia brothers.
Turin, Italy. 1960. Two enterprising young brothers have rigged up their own radio equipment to listen in on the Soviet Russian unmanned rocket launches during the Cold War Space Race. But they pick up something they never expected...something the Soviets never thought would be uncovered. A voice, in Russian, begging for help as their space craft goes up in flames. And the voice...is coming from space. Did the Soviet Union cover up the deaths of multiple cosmonauts during their race to beat America to getting a man into orbit? Did the Judica-Cordiglia brothers manage to record these secret tragedies from their rinky-dink radio shack in Italy? And is there any proof that, perhaps, there are dead Soviet cosmonauts up in space to this day...floating into infinity? Come gather around the campfire and let me tell you about the fate of some of the early Soviet space pioneers, including the first death in any space program, Valentin Bondarenko, the failed mission of Soyuz 1, the amazing achievement of Yuri Gagarin, the chilling death of Vladimir Komarov, and the conspiracy theory about the lost cosmonauts. The space race was full of incredible milestones in human history, but it also came with intense danger. Next episode we'll cover the sacrifices of the early American space program, but today we'll go over the terrible losses of the team at Star City, the stories the Soviets hid for decades, and some of the most interesting rumors and theories about what secrets might still be hidden. Why did the Soviets edit out men from official photos? Were trainees really wiped from history? Who were the early martyrs of the space program? Is there any truth behind the stories of the lost cosmonauts? Let's talk about it.**This episode includes sensitive content (CW: death, severe injury, suicide, war, aviation and other accidents). Although we tend to look back at the space race with the Soviet Union as a competition we were destined to win. It was actually the Soviets that secured many of the early victories. American officials weren't only worried about Soviet prestige winning out. They had a very real concern about soviet space dominance, providing them the ultimate high ground in the next global conflict. Thank you so much Jay for sending this topic in for the hat you gave Manda and Betty the feels while they were doing their research. In this episode Manda talks about the Lost Cosmonaut Conspiracy Theory. Are their dead Russians floating around in space? She also gives us the insight of what it would be like to die in space. Betty on the other hand chose to tell us about a lost hero, Vladimir Komarov who knowingly went on a space mission that was destined to fail. Vladimir crashed back into the Earth all to save his friend from meeting the same fate. Big thank you to our Top Fan: Kimmy! On this episode, Nathan looks into the eerie theory that, during the early 1960s, the Soviet Union lost a bunch of cosmonauts in space and then covered it up.
Achille and Gian Battista Judica-Cordiglia built their own radio tower in Turin, Italy, intent on listening in on Soviet space missions. The recordings they produced seem to have been the horrifying last moments of many unnamed cosmonauts whose existence the Soviet Union strictly denied. The first 2 audio clips (played before the episode intro) are allegedly the breathing and heartbeat of a dying Russian Cosmonaut. The recording at the very end of the episode is allegedly the final message of a female Russian cosmonaut as her craft goes out of control. Want to support the podcast? Every week Twisted Two's dives into a pair of uniquely terrifying true stories that are worthy of a more in depth look. #1 Lost Cosmonauts April 12, 1961, on this day, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to successfully head into space. However, despite Yuri's success, conspiracy theorists believe he wasn't the first one sent there by the Soviet Union. They say that there have been several other "Lost Cosmonauts" whose journey's didn't end well, and that their deaths have since been covered up. The theory of the Lost Cosmonauts began shortly after Yuri famously made it back safely from orbit. Unlike NASA, the launchings done by the Soviet Union were run by the military, hence, stories of secrecy and possibilities of a cover-up were rampant. So Is there any proof of this at all? For starters the Soviet Union was proud of trumpeting its wins all over the world, but were also notorious for shrouding and airbrushing "failures" from their records. One example of this is the Nedelin Catastrophe where more than 150 people died when an R-16 ballistic missile exploded at a launchpad. The records were swept from history and it wasn't until the collapse of the Soviet Union that the incident ever came to light. #2 Bardstown Murders Regarded as a "place where neighbors still borrow cups of sugar," Bardstown is a small town located just south of Louisville, Kentucky. The town contains just 16,000 people and was once hailed as being the "Most Beautiful Small Town in America." But despite the proclamation, Bardstown also carries a dark and sinister truth. The town was in dissaray when four deaths and a missing person happened between 2013 & 2015 and It all started with the ambush killing of Police Officer Jason Ellis. In 2013 Jason was heading home from work when he stopped at Exit 34 to remove branches blocking the road. He stepped out of his vehicle, bent to pick up the debris and when he stood up, he was shot dead on the spot. When officers investigated the crime scene, they discovered that apparently the debris was placed there intentionally and the shooter waited in hiding for whoever was going to move it. Jason suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the arms, torso and face.

Phil and Stephen discuss mysteries both cosmic and small-scale. The Greatest Cosmic Puzzle: Astronomers Find Stars That Appear Older Than The Universe The oldest stars we've found in the Universe are nearly pristine, where almost 100% of what makes them up is the hydrogen and helium left over from the Big Bang. They come in at over 13 billion years old, with the oldest at 14.5 billion. And this is a big problem, because the Universe itself is only 13.8 billion years old. Do we have the age of the universe wrong or the age of these stars wrong? Any other possible explanation? Tasmanian tiger: Trio release footage they claim is sighting of thylacine Footage of a purported Tasmanian tiger sighting has been released, but the experts are yet to agree the species is back from the dead. Key points: Three Tasmanian men believe an animal they filmed last November is a thylacine Wildlife expert Nick Mooney says the animal is most likely a spotted quoll But Mr Mooney concedes there is a 20 per cent chance the animal is a Tassie tiger The vision was recorded last November and was shown at a press conference by a group called the Booth Richardson Tiger Team (BRTT), which has been trying to track a thylacine. The team said they had 14 cameras in an area within 50 kilometres of Maydena, changing the sites every fortnight. What Really Happened to Russia's Lost Cosmonauts?
