24 avril 1967. In this episode, I interview Misha Komarov, founder of =nil; Foundation. I speak with Misha about how he entered the crypto space by designing databases and blockchain protocols. He discusses the origins of =nil; Foundation, which sought to merge achievements from traditional database architectures into blockchain to enable highly scalable infrastructure. We explore some of the technologies =nil; has built, like zero-knowledge applications, a circuit compiler, and a proof generation marketplace. Misha explains their proposal for zero-knowledge sharding as a method to scale Ethereum while retaining composability. He shares his contrarian perspective that Layer 2 rollups may fragment, rather than effectively scale, Ethereum's liquidity. Misha argues that for crypto projects to be taken seriously by large non-crypto companies, they first need to grow substantially in usage and size. He sees finding product-market fit and real-world use cases as the core challenge confronting the crypto industry currently. Nothing mentioned in this podcast is investment advice and please do your own research. Finally, I don't run ads on my podcast. It would mean a lot if you can leave a review of this podcast on ApplePodcasts or share this podcast with a friend. Zero knowledge proof systems have found tremendous cryptographic utility in scaling blockchains, due to their ability to prove computational integrity, succinctly. However, despite recent advancements in ZKP R&D, their construction still requires special prover circuits. Their complexity is what gatekeeps zero knowledge technology to a select few astute teams. =nil; Foundation aims to challenge this status quo by providing an alternative through their zkLLVM circuit compiler and zk proof marketplace. By commoditising the production of custom proofs, =nil; Foundation unlocks an entire new range of applications employing zero knowledge technology. How to Understand Almost Anything” geschrieben. Traveling to space is an inherently dangerous thing to do. In the first years of the space race, both the Soviet Union and the United States were fortunate in that none of their missions resulted in a loss of life.  However, 1967 saw that luck run out for both countries. NASA saw the death of three astronauts in Apollo 1, and the Soviets lost their first cosmonaut during the Soyuz 1 mission.  The Soyuz 1 mission is one that few people are aware of today, and it changed the entire course of the space race. Come gather around the campfire and let me tell you about the fate of some of the early Soviet space pioneers, including the first death in any space program, Valentin Bondarenko, the failed mission of Soyuz 1, the amazing achievement of Yuri Gagarin, the chilling death of Vladimir Komarov, and the conspiracy theory about the lost cosmonauts.  The space race was full of incredible milestones in human history, but it also came with intense danger. Next episode we'll cover the sacrifices of the early American space program, but today we'll go over the terrible losses of the team at Star City, the stories the Soviets hid for decades, and some of the most interesting rumors and theories about what secrets might still be hidden. Why did the Soviets edit out men from official photos? Were trainees really wiped from history? Who were the early martyrs of the space program? Is there any truth behind the stories of the lost cosmonauts? Let's talk about it.**This episode includes sensitive content (CW: death, severe injury, suicide, war, aviation and other accidents). Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.07.24.219410v1?rss=1 Authors: Stroganova, T. A., Komarov, K. S., Goiaeva, D. E., Obukhova, T. S., Ovsiannikova, T. M., Prokofyev, A. O., Orekhova, E. Abstract: Deficits in perception and production of vocal pitch are often observed in people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), but the neural basis of these abnormalities is unknown. In magnetoencephalogram (MEG), spectrally complex periodic sounds trigger two continuous neural responses - the Auditory Steady State Response (ASSR) and the Sustained Field (SF). It has been shown that the SF in neuro-typical individuals is associated with low-level analysis of pitch in the 'pitch processing center' of the Heschl's gyrus. Therefore, this auditory response may reflect vocal pitch processing abnormalities in ASD. The SF, however, has never been studied in people with these disorders. We used MEG and individual brain models to investigate the ASSR and SF evoked by monaural 40 Hz click trains in 7-13-year-old boys with ASD (N=35) and neuro-typical (NT) boys (N=35). In agreement with the previous research in adults, the cortical sources of the SF in children were located in the left and the right Heschl's gyri, anterolateral to those of the ASSR. In both groups, the SF and ASSR dominated in the right hemisphere and were higher contralaterally to the stimulated ear. The ASSR increased with age in both NT and ASD children and did not differ between the groups. The SF was moderately decreased in both hemispheres and was markedly delayed and displaced in the left hemisphere in boys with ASD. The SF delay in participants with ASD was present irrespective of their intelligence level and severity of autism symptoms. We suggest that the selective left-hemispheric SF abnormalities in children with ASD reflect a low-level deficiency in pitch processing that may contribute to their difficulties with perception and production of linguistic prosody. Having created a technology for nonprofits that has the potential to accelerate their fundraising and their impact using artificial intelligence and machine learning, Art Komarov has learned a few things about the adoption of new technology. He shares some powerful insights to help nonprofit leaders implement the latest and greatest tech for good. Interview with Artiom (Art) Komarov, the Co-Founder and CEO of Wisely. The following is the pre-interview with Artiom (Art) Komarov. Be sure to watch the recorded interview above. Expert Tips: Adopting new technology? Here are some thoughts on how to get everyone in your organization on board: Tip 1: Everyone has an “accidental technologist” in their organization: someone that ends up being a technical resource for their colleagues, without an official IT title. When you’re incorporating new technology into your organization, work closely with your ''accidental technologist'' to get buy-in and show the product's value. The rest of the team will follow. Tip 2: Reinforce why you made the decision to implement new technology: Always come back to how the technology enables your mission and goals for the year. Employees need to see the technology as a tool that helps them achieve their daily, weekly and monthly goals, and hit their targets. Tip 3: Embrace change! But acknowledge and recognize that fears about technology, old and new, are usually (secret) fears about change. Talk openly about it with your team and encourage their feedback along the way. Successful change management is the core of successful technology adoption and will help your organization achieve its goals more successfully and efficiently. #final50

Greetings, Comrades! In this episode, we talk about the Soviet side of the Space Race. It is a bit fun, a bit dark humor, a bit looking from the people side, but…it gets dark. Really, really dark. This episode includes discussing some of the most tragic deaths ever, and is definitely NOT recommended for children. It will get lighter in the future, but for now…enjoy what we can bring you. As much as you can, as the stuff becomes extremely grim, and I tried to balance it out with some fun. Also, no Alice hadn't read the script in the info part of the show, before recording it. Today's pictures are: Yuri Gararin, pre-launch, with the CCCP letters just painted on his helmet. The photographs, showing how Bondarenko was just…deleted. Komarov's remains in his funeral. I seriously don't know why they chose an open casket for this one.

This time he showed five demos of things you thought are not possible in CSS, but he didn't tell you how he did them. Instead, he tried to motivate you not to look into the sources of all the cool demos you happen to see in the internets, to skip the explanations and step-to-step tutorials in favour of your own exploration and experimentation. New CSS properties like transitions, gradients and, of course, pseudo-elements — :before and :after. People use them to create complex things just on a single html element, for some extra decorations without any bloated markup and for so much more. However, pseudo-elements have a major drawback — you couldn't use CSS transitions on them. Until now! Right now the only browser who know how to transition values on pseudos is FireFox. But I'll talk about the method any modern browser would understand — and by which any modern browser could show you transitions for most of the CSS properties right on the pseudo-elements. It's a hacky, quirky way, it won't work for any property, but it's better than nothing — with transitions on pseudo-elements a lot of things would be possible — and I'll show some live examples during my talk. Check your struts and chutes, Flora is blasting off straight into the heart of the lost cosmonaut conspiracy theory! A conspiracy involving Soviet coverup of terrible atrocities, the lost cosmonaut theory deals with purported evidence of death after death in the race for space supremacy. Cries into the abyss, a faltering heartbeat, and airbrushed photos are just a few aspects of this theory. David delves deeply into the lore, examining audio files, photographs, and claims made by theorists. Just how bad was the loss of life? Was Yuri Gagarin really the first person in space?
