In Episode 23 of the Stick to Fitness podcast, hosts Hymsuen Liu and Archie Collings take a trip down memory lane as they debunk some of the top fitness myths they once believed. Many of these misconceptions stemmed from what they were told by their parents or the big guy at the gym, illustrating how early influences shape our views on fitness and nutrition.Hymsuen and Archie discuss the widespread belief that you can eat whatever you want as long as you exercise, reflecting on their eating habits during school years. They dive into the concept of flexible dieting and explain why, at some point, eating more "bro" foods might be necessary for effective weight loss. The hosts tackle common myths such as the idea that eating small meals throughout the day boosts metabolism and explore the varied approaches to the range of motion on the bench press, sharing stories of full-range training. They also address concerns about weight training for kids, questioning whether it's truly safe. The episode wouldn't be complete without touching on popular phrases like "no carbs before Marbs" and cultural stereotypes, including the relationship between Chinese people and rice.Join Hymsuen and Archie as they debunk these myths and share personal stories that will help you separate fact from fiction in your fitness journey! If there any questions, future topics you want to cover, or want to reach out for coaching drop them below!Instagram - @gymwithhym @archiee13

Step into sonic bliss with our latest mix from Torie, taking us there with a smooth session of liquid dnb, enjoy! -- Follow @yotorieee https://www.instagram.com/yotorieee -- "With a global upbringing, roots in San Francisco, & a current base in Los Angeles, Torie's sound is eclectic to say the least. She interweaves elements of house, minimal, tech house, dark & driving techno, soulful melodies, & well, sometimes a breakbeat or a few – to tell a story through sound. She believes in the power of groove, and always plays with one goal in mind: to bring newfound life to the dancefloor. She has performed with KiNK, Justin Martin, Maya Jane Coles, Tale of Us, Patrice Baumel, Marbs and Evan Casey of Desert Hearts, Rinzen, Dance Spirit, Eskuche, Marques Wyatt, Tycho, KMLN, Sabo, Justin Jay, Hoj, Kevin Knapp, Shiba San, Joeski and more. You may have seen her play with renowned crews like Space Cowboys, Distrikt, and Desert Hearts on DHtv, or on the festival circuit – including Outside Lands, EDC Las Vegas, Northern Nights Music Festival and Outside in Equinox. As a core member of Inquiry Collective, artist with the Burning Man art car ICARUS, part of the Dusty Rhino crew, a resident DJ of You're Welcome, and a co-founder of Dance With Haha, she draws inspiration from the dusty plains of the playa, the curious explorations of the Mojave desert, the underground dancefloors of SF, & the interstellar endeavors of ICARUS & its motley crew."

As Britain surges forward into the 1950s, the Prime Minister goes on holiday – again. Will fuel costs, supply chains, staff shortages and reskilling just, you know, sort themselves out? Or do we need to reacquaint ourselves with stagflation? Plus, can the fallout from the sentencing of Sarah Everard's murderer and the increasing focus on misogyny in society really become a moment of change? Special guest Emma Kennedy joins us to gaze into this week's political abyss. “We're culling perfectly good pigs and importing pork from the EU? This is making Britain self-sufficient?” – Emma Kennedy“We've been expecting disaster for so long that if it doesn't arrive, the government can fall back on, Hey, the doomsters were wrong again…” – Justin Quirk“If there was a shortage of baguettes in Paris, the French would burn the place to the ground. The British, sadly, are not like that.” – Emma Kennedy“The notion of rebalancing the economy by market shock is quite insane.” – Alex Andreou “Violence against women will never change until we make it as utterly unacceptable as drink-driving… Men have got to step up.” – Emma Kennedyhttps://www.patreon.com/bunkercastPresented by Alex Andreou with Ayesha Hazarika and Justin Quirk. Today, I speak with one of my best friends, Katie Hackett. Katie is a singer and songwriter who has been on a crazy ride over the past year. After believing her dream of being a musician was dead, this last February 2021 she debuted her extraordinary talents on a Desert Hearts Black EP, with Marbs & Evan Casey, under the name Katie Kilbride. The EP is titled "Birds on a Wire". 'No carbs before Marbs', 'Carbs make you fat', 'Carbs are bad for you'.... recognise these headlines? Probably because you have seen them a lot in media headlines are promoted by celebrity influencers. It is these type of one line headers that can often spark negative relationships with food. There is so much more to these stories but we do not always have the time or really care to dive into the detail. So we read the heading and take it as gospel. We then tell our friends about this news and the Chinese whispers begin. That is how quickly something can be misread, shared and cause damage to many who fall victim. I fell victim! In my younger years, I suffered with ED and my relationship with food is general was very negative. Therefore, I was heavily attracted to any news or magazine articles surrounding food. My problem was that, like many, I did not read the full article. I saw the headline and chose to believe whatever that said. This led to my cutting or avoiding certain foods from my diet that I had 'been told' were bad for me and my weight loss goals. Well I am here to tell you that I bloody love carbs! I eat them every day and I eat a lot of them. To feel this free, without guilt or shame or worry is incredible after experiencing such trauma and neglect. And you know the best part? I am actually in the best shape that I have ever been. I am stronger, I have more energy, I am more focused and I am finally achieving my health and fitness goals. There are pro's and con's to eating a high carb or low carb diet but as explained in this podcast, I am not here to provide or replace medical advice or address health conditions. I am simply here to tell you that if you are afraid to eat carbs because of this belief that they will make you fat, please at least dig a little deeper into the science. Have a listen and let me know your thoughts or concerns. I hope you enjoy this episode and if any of the information here resonates with you then please do leave me a review and say hey. Carr Tell has been mixing amazing sets for the past 6 years. After moving back to Montana from LA, working in recording studios he wanted to find a way to keep music in his life and gravitated towards DJing. You may have heard him mixing at Private Party, Disco Blood Bath, Neon city, Shine, Alien Abduction, and Grease camp. If you haven heard him at those unforgettable gatherings you can hear him now in this exclusive mix composed of tracks by Gesaffelstein, Cari Golden, Marbs, Evan Casey, Reinier Zonneveld, Jeff Mills, and Victor Ruiz. If this doesn’t satiate your Techno cravings nothing will. A few words From the Man himself. Once you learn you can make audio do what you want the creative possibilities are endless. Hopefully this mix makes those asses shake! thats 100% always my goal Hope everyone enjoys this mix as much as I have loved the ones already posted here. -Carr Tell- For More of His Amazing Sound Check Out https://soundcloud.com/justin-carr-8

@TheTakePodUk boys are back with this latest episode, entitled “Solidarity For Sideman”. This episode is now available on Apple, Spotify and all other reputable streaming services. In this episode, @DaineSays and @DjIllnessuk return to the insta live format to discuss the BBC's poor handling of the “N Word” laden report by journalist Fiona Lamdin. They pay homage to presenter David Whitely aka Sideman for standing by his morals and resigning from working at the Beeb, but the question remains, while are those responsible for airing the offensive report still in office? The boys set the sights on the furore surrounding Cardi B and Meg Thee Stallion for their new video WAP. Is it a win for feminism or does it highlight the gender inequality in the music industy? Other topics include the government coming under scrutiny for the absolute debacle that was the A Levels result scandal, Drake's new single/Nike advert, and how a weekend in Marbs could mean a fortnight in your yard as the government reinstates quarantine restrictions for returning holidaymakers. If you liked this episode, tell three friends. If you didn't, tell five more. The boys love what they do, but you, the audience, make it worthwhile! As always, like comment and share. Marbs, Desert Hearts co-founder. Marbs has reached a new peak in his career over the past year, which culminated in him launching Desert Hearts subsidiary, Desert Hearts Black, with Evan Casey. The heavier, melodic-leaning imprint and club series launch was a smash success, with its debut EP Torus reaching Beatport's Overall #1 spot and its inaugural warehouse party selling out. Tim Engelhardt, Thugfucker, and Dance Spirit are just a few of its first signees. On top of stepping into label boss shoes, Marbs and the Desert Hearts Crew expanded their brand across the globe, touching down in Europe for a summer tour run, and celebrating the New Year with their Australian debut. We chatted about Desert Hearts, how it started, his journey through music and what the crew are doing on lockdown. In today's episode I chat with Marbs and Evan Casey. Marbs and Evan are my good pals and the faces behind Desert Hearts Black, a sub-label of Desert Hearts. If you're not familiar, Desert Hearts is a house and techno music festival, record label and at its core, a community. This episode is pretty much all about the quarantine but I promise you won't leave depressed. I was eager to get these two on my show because for one, they're both amazing humans from whom I've learned a lot about what it means to live lovingly and they exude that light throughout our conversation, as I knew they would. Secondly, I thought their current situation would be intriguing to explore because the quarantine has affected them both so differently. Marbs is a full time DJ who has seen his main source of income evaporate, like many others during this strange time. And Evan is currently working shifts as part of the team at a Trader Joe's in Los Angeles. Both are still label heads for Desert Hearts Black. This is as close to a Venn diagram as I'll probably ever get on this show. We compare and contrast their experiences throughout the episode and look for a silver lining to it all. We also discuss what it's been like for them to learn the ins and outs of video streaming, how they view this temporary new reality of having to restrict connection with their community to online spaces and other topics. Desert Hearts has been using the video streaming platform Twitch during the lockdown and just the week before this episode will be released, decided to move their weekend festival to the platform. Because of the lockdown, the festival was not permitted to occur and moving it to Twitch allowed them and the community to get as close an experience to the real thing as currently possible with the technology available. Unfortunately we do not touch on that experience but I will just note that it was incredible. Everything this crew does comes from a place of love and if you don't know about them, I think you'll see what I mean by listening here.Desert Hearts Black: https://deserthearts.us/blackDesert Hearts Black Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/desertheartsblack/Desert Hearts Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/deserthearts/Desert Hearts Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/desertheartsrecordsDesert Hearts Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/desert-hearts-recordstheEWpodcast: http://theewpodcast.com/podcast-017-marbs-evan-casey-on-quarantine-silver-linings/Mrs. Casey's Greetings: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbCDfjcGyWMu9aALXwBrIzw

Dance music now is so often about fast rises and immediate gratification, but Lee Reynolds' story is a reminder that some beats taste better when slowly fried over the course of 25 years. “I've been obsessed with this shit forever and I've always believed the madness was coming,” says Reynolds. Well, the madness has commenced, and it seems like it's here for good––and Lee Reynolds is conducting the score this Saturday as he brings his Desert Hearts brand to London for its debut with founding Fathers Mikey Lion & Marbs.
