While you can totally do this meditation anytime of the day it's especially suited to end your day with. This both a gratitude meditation and loving kindness meditation as it uses both "thank you" as well as "I forgive" in the practice of it. Enjoy the gratitude and letting go...

EPISODE Bonus Episode Day 26 TITLE Everyone Gets to Own Their Awesome! PLUS exclusive meditation just for our listeners! GUEST Chel Hamilton EPISODE OVERVIEW We talk a lot about play and inhibition, and I ask Chel how do we take those first steps when we want to let go, but we’re really scared. The interview takes an unexpected turn when Chel asks me something, and I get tearful, and have a pretty big insight! I was NOT expecting this. The is so much freedom and joy on the other side of letting go of fear and inhibition and we talk about how to get there. This leads to a conversation about the importance of community, support, validation and knowing that you’re not alone as a sensitive. I wonder about the connection between childhood wounding and our preferred love language because I can see a direct correlation since my preferred love languages are Quality Time and Words of Affirmation. Chel talks about the benefits of meditation and silent meditation for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) as well as hypnosis. Guided meditation can be really helpful when you’re having feelings of overwhelm, stress, overstimulation because your body and mind will engage your relaxation response—your parasympathetic system, which is going to soothe your entire system, which will also create more calm for you, which also improves our emotional responses. Chel ends with talking about the quote Brene Brown uses about The Man in the Arena by Teddy Roosevelt and how to focus on feedback from those that are actually in the arena doing the work. BIO As a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in practice for over a decade, and over 20 years of working with addicts and alcoholics, Chel has helped thousands of people let go of habits and thought patterns, and re-design their lives for more joy, freedom, and confidence. Through her guided meditation podcast “Meditation Minis” (with over 12 million downloads) she has helped people create more calmer, clearer, and happier lives. Her mission is to be an agent of change of powerful, positive change for the planet, and her passion is to that light that sparks in people’s eyes when that change occurs. HIGHLIGHTS Silent Meditation or focal point meditation (when you focus on your breath, or an object or a word) is good for training your brain to focus, and letting go of distractions. It can also be good for mindfulness, which is the practice of noticing what you’re thinking and feeling in the moment because you no longer become distracted by those things Guided Meditation is closer to hypnosis. It can cause focus to increase, but it also reprograms the brain to have different reactions What happens with guided meditation or hypnosis is that your body is in a trance-like way your body and mind starts having difficulty differentiating between reality and what you’re picturing. This is the power of imagination and visualization. Hypnosis has more direct suggestions, so it’s similar to doing a guided meditation, but it often focuses on literally changing habits QUOTES Girl! There is only one of you in the Universe! Everyone gets to own their awesome! The more you own your awesome; it gives others permission to own their awesome I want to renew my sense of play in life and set aside perfection I think everybody gets to do a happy dance much more frequently than we typically do As a Highly Sensitive Person, it’s important that we do bring more play in If we’re going to feel all the feels…why can’t feel all the outrageously positive feels too? We get to choose what we believe Beliefs that are nourishing to us, we get to choose to have more of, and beliefs that are depleting to us, we get to acknowledge and set aside(ren)], and party with them Most of what we choose to take as truth, are actually beliefs we choose to believe All of this is for play and exploration, and adventure and fun, and I get to create more of that I’m talking about incorporating play and fun into what we’re already up to. Even in a more powerful way In those times when you are feeling overwhelmed, and/or are in a place of doubt or dread, there is so much power in just acknowledging where you are at, and taking 3 deep breaths LINKS Where to find Chel Hamilton-- https://audioboom.com/channel/meditation-minis-podcast APPLE PODCASTS: https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/id963597166/ SPOTIFIY: https://open.spotify.com/show/4bSTeVDsXWKQCRptxuZnVQ How weird are you? It’s now making enough money for Chel to stop seeing clients and can support Chel full time (4:15) The podcast has over twelve million downloads now! (4:50) She didn’t set out to monetize it but put a lot of time and effort into keywords and strategy before she launched the podcast. (6:25) Did NOT set out to have a meditation podcast, but found the balance between guided imagery and hypnosis to fit what she wanted to do, which was to create something out in the world to reach people who might want to work with Chel for hypnotherapy. (7:05) She created a show that she personally would listen to. (8:47) Around the year mark, Chel went to Podcast Movement, and she fell head over heels in love with Podcasters as human beings, and decided she wanted to continue to be a part of that tribe! (11:39) Meditation Minis is now getting sponsors, and it’s the only part of the podcast process that is outsources. Chel treats the meditations like pieces of art, like songs. (13:51) What’s next? By Christmas 2018 Chel will be launching a membership site to further support her podcast community. (14:46) Jump in to the podcast community! They’re so ridiculously helpful. (17:54) Research what the market is searching for, and couple it with what you would listen to, and let those two things synthesize together, you’re podcast will be great. (21:52) Use keyword research tools (check below for Karen’s blog on keywords!) and use the crap out of the free trial, look for searches that are big enough and look for the patterns (22:52) Lots of ways to monetize your podcast. (25:45) Podcasting is a great way for people to feel like they know you. It’s a great onramp to getting clients. (27:18) And you don’t have to do hair and makeup! Kick back in your pjs and talk into the mic (27:15) Chels favorite TV show growing up is … (28:40) Having a podcast allows you to do a ton of cool things! (30:19) The time is now, and the episodes can be repurposed even if you don’t decide to continue with the journey. (30:59) Chel’s upcoming book is called “Bulletproof Tranquility” and will hopefully be available mid=spring 2019! Welcome to the 50th Episode of the Rebel Health Coach Podcast. First I would like to take a minute and thank each and every one of you for listening. It means a lot to me!! People kept saying, “Thom you should start a podcast... it's easy!” Well, this isn't as easy as people said it was going to be... as a matter of fact it is a lot of work. But I couldn't be happier doing it! I would like to thank my good friend Chel Hamilton from Meditation Minis for getting me started. She was a guest on Episode 17 and her podcast is one I frequently recommend to clients who need some guided meditation and are crunched for time. I know that the Rebel Health Coach Podcast is a small fish in a big pond, and my goal for this podcast is to cover all things health and wellness – meditation, self-love, food, hormones, supplements, and beyond. It's a grand goal, but if just one of my shows changes someone's life, I have done my job!! Like I said my goal is to change peoples lives in this crazy world we live in! I'd like to offer a quick review of the most downloaded episodes of the show so far. If you haven't already listened to them all, I high recommend going back and checking these out: Ep. 36 – Test, Don't Guess: Hormonal Health & The DUTCH Test. My dear friend Dr. Carrie Jones is the Medical Director for Precision Analytical and an internationally recognized speaker, consultant, and educator on the topic of women's health and hormones. Ep. 35 – The Optimal Health Model: Maximize, Minimize, & Prioritize – Part 1. This was a Solo Episode and part 1 of 3 of the three steps to optimal health and living a healthy life, which are maximizing what is needed, minimizing what is harmful, and prioritizing an environment for healing. In part one of this three-part series, we focus on maximizing what our bodies need. Ep. 37 – The Origin Story of KB Pure Essentials & The Life-Changing Benefits of CBD Oil. Brooke Brun and Katie Moodie are the Co-Founders of KB Pure Essentials, a lifestyle company offering an all-natural line of wellness and beauty products formulated with CBD. Their goal is to bring the life- and health-changing benefits of CBD to every individual through easy accessibility, while leading the way in community education. Ep. 43 – Hormone Replacement Therapy: Past to Present (Part 1). This is the first of a series of episodes diving into Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (or BHRT). I'm joined by two guests, Marie Hoäg and Anthony Llabres, to cover what BHRT is and everything you might want to know about it. Ep. 47 – Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy: Menopause Prevention & Female Hormone Health (Part 4). I was joined by my good friend Marie Hoag, the founder and CEO of Panacea Sciences, and we discuss getting a woman to that Hormone Sweet Spot and Menopause. Ep. 48 – Hormone Replacement Therapy: What Questions Should Women Ask a Doctor Specializing in HRT? (Part 5). Dr. James Nagel specializes in Advanced Hormone Restoration Therapy and started Quality of Life Medicine, a boutique Hormone Medicine clinic that specializes in advanced hormone restoration therapies. Ep. 40 – Letting it Be. This episode is with a dear friend from my past, Dr. Lisa Templeton. She is a clinical psychologist, author, musician, poet, and spiritual guide. She founded and owns Interpersonal Healing Clinic, and we discuss her amazing new book Letting it Be: Mindful Lessons Toward Acceptance. Ep. 33 – Transforming The Overweight Mind – with Jay Nixon. We discuss his great book, The Overweight Mind – The Undeniable Truth Behind Why Your Not Losing Weight. And since that episode, Jay started his own excellent podcast, Thrive Forever Fit with Jay Nixon. Give it a listen! My Weight Loss Journey & Tips I would like to take a minute and go back to one of the most basic and most important topics in the health and wellness field: weight loss. The U.S. weight loss market is estimated to be...
This is the final episode covering the three steps of the Optimal Health Model. In http://thomunderwood.net/project/ep-35 (Episode 35) I discussed maximizing what is needed for our bodies to thrive. Then in Episode 41, I discussed minimizing the things that are harmful to our bodies. Today I will be discussing how to prioritize the things that create an environment for healing. Science today has shown that every organ in the human body has the ability to heal itself given the right environment – even organs we have been told could not, like spinal tissue, brain tissue, heart tissue, pancreatic tissue, and prostate tissue. I'm really fascinated by the inner environment, and I think the easiest reason to explain why is with a quote from Buddha: “Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.” This inner environment needs to be Prioritized. Many of us, including myself, really struggle to do these things consistently. Even if we know we must do it, we struggle to do it... and as a result, we often end up with chronic disease in the body. So, let's dig in and see what we need to Prioritize… Sleep Sleep are you getting enough sleep? Is your sleep quality sleep? If you intend to live a long and healthy life, sleep needs to be a priority. Anyone struggling with chronic disease — which is at least half the adult population in the U.S. — would be wise to take heed, as sleep cannot only contribute to the problem but also counteract any healthy lifestyle strategies you're using to address it. As a general guideline, seek to get right around eight hours of sleep every night. Anything below seven hours really starts to impact your health (if you're an adult). The good news is there are many ways to improve your sleep, including nutrients. (While I don't recommend relying on sleep aids long term, certain supplements can help improve sleep and can be used while you're implementing more permanent changes.) Here are some quick tips to help you sleep: Tip 1: Keep in sync with your body's natural sleep-wake cycle, try to go to sleep and get up at the same time every day. Tip 2: Control your exposure to light. Melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone controlled by light exposure that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Your brain secretes more melatonin when it's dark—making you sleepy—and less when it's light—making you more alert. Tip 3: Exercise during the day.. Regular exercise also improves the symptoms of insomnia and sleep apnea and increases the amount of time you spend in the deep, restorative stages of sleep. Tip 4: Be smart about what you eat and drink, your daytime eating habits play a role in how well you sleep, especially in the hours before bedtime. Tip 5: Wind down and clear your head. The mind going around in circles – I get this a lot. One way to deal with that is writing stuff down before you go to bed, or taking a warm Epsom Salt & Lavender bath before you go to bed. Tip 6: Improve your sleep environment by making your bedroom a place for sleep… not TV! Get blackout blinds/curtains, a Sound Machine, essential oil diffuser with Lavender or Roman Chamomile, change the light bulbs on your lamps next to your Bed to a sleep bulb like the Lighting Science GoodNight Sleep Promoting LED Night Light Bulb. Rest & Relaxation Are you getting rest and relaxation? What are you doing for yourself? Meditation, even a short 10-minute break to meditate, is incredibly beneficial. And my friend and former guest Chel Hamilton has a great one guided meditation podcast called Meditation Minis that can really help out with this. Muse also makes a brain-sensing headband will elevate your meditation experience. Check it out at choosemuse.com. Laughter Don't forget to laugh! laugh at life, laugh hard – a good belly laugh is good for the soul! Gratitude Gratitude is essential for our wellbeing!!...

Here is the ‘Part Two’ I referred to in my last podcast with Chel Hamiton. Honestly, we had such a fired up conversation going, we just kept recording. And so this episode was born. It’s on getting real about life Chel Hamilton, a successful hypnotist and host of the Meditation Minis podcast, says: ‘We are literally being programmed all the time … any time we are on social media, standing in check out surveying candy and magazines, turning on the TV. If we practice getting calm so we can remain clear for most of five minutes, and we then reengage in life, we can see this life as it really is.’ This statement got me thinking. What if the antidote to the rampant fake news that is now sweeping the world is … meditation? Can it really walk us back to a more perceptive, less inundated frame of mind, so we can accurately pinpoint what is true and what is false around us? In this wonderful, wide-ranging conversation, Chel shares her ideas about ‘Knee jerkery’ – the impulse to respond quickly and without thinking. She says the more we can get knee jerked by life, the less we embrace reality. She notes how belief structures keep us stuck in webs of illusion. These would be the realms of addiction, politics, romance novels, pornography, advertising and compulsive shopping, among other things. And yet … there is hope. Take a few breaths, Chel advises. Go back to nature – even if that is looking out the window at a tree. Sit and breathe and reconnect yourself to the planet. That’s where re-acclimating your senses begins. What I learned in this episode: How we are literally ‘sensing beings’ Scientific proof that everything is vibrational around us What does it mean to see life as it really is? Why do children speak pearls of wisdom – seeing life as it really is – when we can’t? How to navigate these times of Fake News The simple meditation practice that helps us reground What’s happening when we binge on TV, food, alcohol, etc BIO Chel Hamilton is the founder of Columbus Ohio Hypnosis. The times in my life when I feel the most unsteady or the most crazy or the most triggered, those have been massive learning experiences for me. Effect on Emotions Mindfulness has definitely made me less reactive. I've definitely gotten calmer. Maybe sometimes to the detriment. Sometimes in our interpersonal relationships with a partner when they're being really passionate about something and when we go to the pure, calm, logic side, they're like, omg, you don't get me. What's wrong with you? I'm like, I'm not a Vulcan, I swear. I think sometimes we have to say, oh my god, that's amazing and then go to our calm place. Thoughts on Breathing One of my favorite little breathing meditations is I do on my podcast; it's Eckhart Tolle nose-focused breathing where you just focus on the edges of the nostrils. That was revolutionary for me because the whole idea of having to pay attention to all of my breathing felt like too much work. Just paying attention to the feeling of the air was really easy to do in any situation in life whether walking from one room to another or while in the middle of an argument or anything. So that is the one practice that is both breathing focused as well as meditation focused. If I could just tell people to do one thing, that would be it. Suggested Resources Book: The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Luiz App: Evernote (I use it as my better brain) Effect on Emotions My bullying story had nothing mindful about it. It was fourth grade. I went to inner city schools during desegregation. There was a girl there who was not happy with me and she used to beat me up after school, pretty much every day. She didn't stop until one day I hit her over the head with my lunch box. I don't think mindfulness had anything to do with that. She definitely stopped when I whacked her upside of the head with my lunch box. My son was bullied in middle school as well as my neighbor because we didn't live in the big houses in the fancy part of our district. We lived in the rental homes. I think that, for him, the thing that helped the most was him beginning to understand through some work that he did with me that if he didn't allow them to see any reaction in him, it didn't give them as much pleasure to do the things that they were doing. Learning how to not react in the moment but then to respond. That's not to say that if somebody is being physical or overly threatening that you need to tell the adults. We actually had to switch schools because adults were told and the bullying got even worse at the school. The shame involved in all of that; because when the kid gets bullied, it's usually shame-based, it's fear and shame-based. The less that they respond in the moment, the less juice it gives the bully.
