We want to shout out everyone in the Runcation Nation who ran for The Donna Foundation. This was our first year on the D Squad, led by Babs. She earned a shiny new PR on Sunday in the half marathon! Congrats, Babs, and thanks for all the guidance this year. Emily O'Keefe, congrats on finishing two challenges in a month, including MARATHONS. Dopey and the Booby Trap Marathon Edition! Congrats to your friend who ran with you postpartum, too! Wesley Twiggs, related to one Chris Twiggs, earned 5th place this year in his DONNA race during the weekend! Congrats, Wesley! We got an email this week from Alan Young, too, with a recommendation: Subject: Thank you from Alan Young Message: Hi! Thanks again for the help. I am now following you on Facebook and YouTube. When visiting Anaheim, suggest “Cafe Hiro,” a Japanese fusion restaurant with a non-sushi omakase menu. About $45 per person with a four-diner minimum. Thanks for coming out to cheer during the January WDW events. Not good on voice recordings. Do have a shoutout when we finished the full. Let me know if you want to hear it. (Tech challenged) Also, if you're going to see any of the older Disney marathon stuff, let me know. We got a lot of items this year. Enjoy your runcation philosophy. Great to run to. RUN Over Thanksgiving, we participated in the 43rd Annual Fort Myers Turkey Trot 5K hosted at the Edison Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers. Jessica and Kelly from the Runcation Nation were there with their families. Kelly's children volunteered at the water stop, and Jessica's son ran the race with friends. We experienced this race on a brand new course throughout the beautiful neighborhoods around the historic site. EAT We have found a new dessert tradition for the holidays! Dana discovered a Cookie Butter Pie. We both love the Biscoff cookies we get on airplanes. He found it through social media. Cookie Butter Pie Video is available on TikTok at the following link: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTR4gfyFG/ This recipe did not disappoint. If you are a fan of those cookies… make this dessert! It was the sleeper hit of Thanksgiving with our family, and now they want it at Christmas too! Here are the ingredients we used (These are Amazon affiliate links. If you choose to make the recipe and order from Amazon, it helps support the show at no extra cost to you.): Biscoff Cookies (1- 8 oz package) https://amzn.to/3h2G80Z Unsalted Butter (4 tablespoons) https://amzn.to/3Y37TH7 Jar of Biscoff Cookie Butter (14.1 ounces) https://amzn.to/3VE7ZTT Cream Cheese (8 ounces) https://amzn.to/3Hjf2wX Confectionary Sugar (1 cup) https://amzn.to/3UDSCd6 Vanilla (to taste) https://amzn.to/3Y2GGo2 Salt (1/4 teaspoon) https://amzn.to/3BfGbNO Heavy Cream (1 1/4 cup) https://amzn.to/3W4awa1 We aren't going to lie… We used whipped cream that was made already to top the pie (as much as you would like) https://amzn.to/3UzdMcg DRINK Right in the neighborhood where we ran is one of our favorite breweries, Coastal Dayz Brewery. We are fans of winter brews, and new owner Alex Tatko created a tasty Winter Ale for us to try this week. Holiday spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and subtle notes of orange zest, molasses, and vanilla? Yes, please. Thanks, Alex! It is a mighty tasty way to get us into the holiday spirit. RUN The Florida Run 10K Trail Run in Clermont, Florida at Lake Louisa State Park was a great event for us to get some distance in and meet some great new people at the same time. We got up super early and drove to Clermont, which is close to the Orlando area, to run our 2nd EVER trail run at this event. We love the shirt, medal, and the lessons we learned on the trail! Shout to to Loren, Gail, and Leslie. We met these three great people before the race. Gail and Leslie walked the race with us while Loren ran the half marathon event. EAT Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend is an opportunity sample some great food from some of the first booths we experienced at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. There are some we have missed so much for a few years. Welcome back, Greece! This is the first time we have covered this booth on our show, but it is one of the OG booths we fell in love with at this festival. DRINK Belgium, man… Belgium. This booth had a great beer flight from some great breweries we love. It also started to get us into the festive fall and holiday spirit for November and December. St. Bernardus Witbier, Belgian Abbey Ale, and Delirium Red Fruit Ale are tasty brews we sampled in this Belgium beer flight. We play back our review from our visit to Belgium in the World Showcase on this week's show. RUN The Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend is in the books. This week we recap what the weekend was like for us and where we are going from here. We have some pixie dust moments to share, and we discuss how this weekend is motivation to dedicate ourselves to training for the next race. EAT AND DRINK Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend is an opportunity to sample food from around the world or taste one of our favorites in new and creative ways. We did the latter this time at the Brew-Wing Booth. This is a return to this booth. Last year, we tried their vegan option of brussel sprouts. They are back, but this time, we tasted two different samplings of chicken wings - a sweet one and a spicy dish, too! Plus a cider and a beer from this booth, too! We captured our first impressions to play for you in this episode while we sampled the food and beverages in the air conditioning of this enormous building right around the corner from Test Track at Epcot. THAT'S A WRAP! Before we go…. We want to welcome a brand new sponsor to the show, Fitz Koehler! We want to tell you about Fitz Koehler's new course, Fixing Your Life with Fitzness. EAT AND DRINK Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend, we have a preview of one of our favorite booths from this year: Coastal Eats. This booth is a tasty treat. It has briny and delicious tastes of the sea, including Oysters Rockefeller and Baked Scampi. We also had a great beer there, Bells Lager of the Lakes Bohemian Pilsner from Comstock, MI. The 5K, 10K, and half marathon races at the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend are ones we look forward to each year because this race weekend is one that started our love for running.
