Ever wonder what goes on in the minds of your favorite Rise and Run Podcast hosts? Episode 185 pulls back the curtain as we answer your specific questions about our individual journeys, preferences, and experiences. The conversation takes us deep into what makes each host unique in their approach to Disney running. Jack explains why ultramarathons and runDisney challenges scratch different itches despite both being "fun runs". Bob shares his transformative experience at the 2016 Wine and Dine Half Marathon when, at 62, he completed his first runDisney race in nearly three decades with a smile that never faded. We get personal as hosts reveal their favorite Disney characters and attractions, with Alysha struggling to choose between Dopey and Kevin from Up, and John confessing his lifelong admiration for Darth Vader. Greg takes us to Aulani, describing how the resort's authentic cultural elements create a uniquely meaningful Hawaiian experience. The conversation turns practical as we discuss our biggest race mistakes and the lessons they taught us. From hydration failures to loose shoes causing blisters, these hard-earned insights might save you from similar pitfalls. We also look ahead, contemplating where we'll be with runDisney in five to ten years.Perhaps most touching are the stories of magical race moments – Bob pushing his friend Woody through an entire half marathon while wearing a walking boot, and Jack's emotional experience as a Galloway pacer watching runners achieve personal records. These moments remind us why we keep coming back to the Disney parks time after time.Join us for this uniquely personal episode that strengthens the bonds of our Rise and Run family. Whether you're a longtime listener or joining us for the first time, you'll walk away feeling like you've just had coffee with friends who share your passion for running through the most magical places on earth.Rise and Run LinksRise and Run Podcast Facebook PageRise and Run Podcast InstagramRise and Run Podcast Website and ShopRise and Run PatreonPassport to RunRunningwithalysha Alysha's Run Coaching (Mention Rise And Run and get $10 off)Rise and Run Podcast Cruise Interest Form with Magic Bound Travel Send us a textSupport the showRise and Run Podcast is supported by our audience. N099 Season 8 of the My DVC Points Podcast was brought to you by: DVC Resale Market - Industry Leader in DVC Resales DVC Rental Store - DVC Point Rentals Monera Financial - Exclusively Financing DVC Contracts Patreon supporters in the My DVC Points VIP Producer Club. DVC Points Charts Released for 2024 Disney Vacation Club released the 2024 point charts last week, and the biggest item of note was that there were no significant changes beyond the dates of the holidays shifting. This is the first time in four years that the points charts have stayed the same, as over the last three years Disney has been slowly increasing the amount of points required for staying in October and November while at the same time lowering the number of points required for summer stays. Source: Disney Vacation Club website Splash Mountain at Disney World Closing January 23rd On December 3rd, Walt Disney World announced that the final day of operation for Splash Mountain will be on January 22nd, with the ride permanently closing for good on January 23rd. There has been no announcement for the final closing date of Splash Mountain at Disneyland Resort, but the ride is expected to close soon since both rides are scheduled to re-open in late 2024 as Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Source: Walt Disney World website, Theme Park Tourist Direct Pricing Increases across Multiple DVC resorts Disney Vacation Club increased direct pricing for Aulani Disney Vacation Club Villas, Disney's Riviera Resort, and Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to have a base price of $217 per point. Many other sold-out resorts had direct pricing increase by $10 per point: Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort (now $275) Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (now $215) Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (now $250) Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas (now $210) Disney's Beach Club Villas (now $275) Disney's BoardWalk Villas (now $240) Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort (now $165) Disney's Vero Beach Resort (now $150) Disney's Old Key West Resort and Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spas went up as well by $5 to $205 per point. The only resorts to not increase were Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and interestingly Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, which is expected to have new units opening in 2024. While direct prices are increasing, resale prices are dropping due to a large amount of units on the market. Many DVC contracts can be purchased on the resale market for up to $100 per point less than direct pricing. Source: DVC News RunDisney Reduces Benefit for Volunteers Volunteers for the recent Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend were surprised when they received park tickets that were not valid until after 1:00 p.m. In the past, Disney would mail out full-day park tickets to each volunteer within 60 days after the conclusion of a race. However, this time they were handing them out as they were leaving the event. Source: WDW News Today My DVC Points is an awesome community of DVC members. She eventually married her love of running and all things Disney and tackled a number of runDisney runs. This is where she met Jen. Jen began running during her weight loss journey half a dozen years ago. She previously only ran from base to base as a varsity softball player and loathed running. But thanks to her friends and a supportive network, she ran her first 5K. Heather and Jen met as Jen was training for her first half marathon and eventually her first full marathon thanks to Heather's encouragement. RUN The Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend is in the books.  This week we recap what the weekend was like for us and where we are going from here.  We have some pixie dust moments to share, and we discuss how this weekend is motivation to dedicate ourselves to training for the next race. EAT AND DRINK Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend is an opportunity to sample food from around the world or taste one of our favorites in new and creative ways.  We did the latter this time at the Brew-Wing Booth.  This is a return to this booth.  Last year, we tried their vegan option of brussel sprouts.  They are back, but this time, we tasted two different samplings of chicken wings - a sweet one and a spicy dish, too!  Plus a cider and a beer from this booth, too!  We captured our first impressions to play for you in this episode while we sampled the food and beverages in the air conditioning of this enormous building right around the corner from Test Track at Epcot.   THAT'S A WRAP! Before we go…. We want to welcome a brand new sponsor to the show, Fitz Koehler!   We want to tell you about Fitz Koehler's new course, Fixing Your Life with Fitzness.   We know Fitz as one half of Team Noisy as she has been at the start and finish lines of some of the most fun races we've ever run, like the Donna Marathon Weekend and Gasparilla Distance Classic. Happy birthday to patron and friend of the show, Jennifer Hall.  Shout out to Tory Nadeau, who is celebrating a birthday, too.  Tory and her father, Rob, who we lost last year, have been great supporters of the show.  This week, we wish both Jennifer and Tory the happiest of birthdays!   We received an email for a shoutout on our show this morning, too: “Hey, guys, I absolutely love your show.  I found it during quarantine when there were no races and it really got me through some dark times running wise It'ss one of my favorite podcasts out there and the positivity you bring to the show really shines through.  So thank you for doing what you do.  I wanted to give a shout out. My husband Jordan recently completed his first 5k at the Run Daytona 5K in Daytona Beach Florida.  This is a big deal because he is not a runner and did it for me since I am the runner in the house.  I wanted to give him a shout out and let him know how proud I am of him. EAT AND DRINK Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend, we have a preview of one of our favorite booths from this year: Coastal Eats.  This booth is a tasty treat.   It has briny and delicious tastes of the sea, including Oysters Rockefeller and Baked Scampi.  We also had a great beer there, Bells Lager of the Lakes Bohemian Pilsner from Comstock, MI. There were so many with us at Wine and Dine - Robert Ontiveros and Family,  Meg and Brian (@MainstreetMilesMeg), Ana (@anarunsocoffee), Mike Rahlmann of BOGP fame, and so many more.  We tried to catch all of you on social media.  To everyone who ran this weekend, congratulations!  Didn't it feel good to be back!? RUN Wine and Dine Race Weekend returned… LIVE!  This year, as Aimee focuses on shorter distances, we opted to run the 5K and 10K, so we created our own sort of challenge.  Dana likes to call it the Charcuterie Challenge… what do you think?  This week, we talk about the 5K race distance, the expo, the race course, swag, and medal.  We are so happy the races have returned!  Stay tuned for more about the races when we talk about the 10K next week! EAT The 2021 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is back, too! We sought out all the vegan options this year, and there were some tasty treats!  We recorded our reactions as we tasted each dish.  This week, we play it back and chat about our experiences over the weekend.  This week we highlight offerings from the Earth Eats and Noodle Exchange. DRINK The 2021 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival had lots of beverages to try!  We steered toward the non-alcoholic variety because of the #75Hard challenge, of course!  We talk about offerings from the festival that are non-alcoholic plus our beverage from the event at the Earth Eats booth.  We can't wait to get back and try some beer, wine, and cocktails next year! RUN  This week, we recap our Half Marathon at Walt Disney World in Orlando.  We start with our experience at Hilton Bonnet Creek’s Marathon Weekends pre-race party.    This is a big reason why we choose this hotel for RunDisney races whenever we can!    Then we talk our strategy and course changes this year, plus weather, and the classic Mickey-themed medal.  Finally, we got a great bonus medal for us as we completed the two-course challenge.  There’s a reason Aimee looks so happy after this race, too... LISTENER FEEDBACK Sherry (@runsinaskirt on Instagram), Kristin (@kristersc on Twitter) and Steph (@justtakeadip on Instagram and at www.justadayinparadise.com) provided listener feedback for our episode today!  They share their recommendations for the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival today on the show!  We will intersperse their recommendations with Dana’s this week! EAT This week, we highlight Dana’s picks from the 2019 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.  We sampled the Lobster Roll from Hops and Barley.  We tasted Butternut Squash Ravioli from the Wine and Dine Studio.  Finally, as the rain came down, we tried the Frothy Ramen from Japan. DRINK We toasted our accomplishments with a non-alcoholic offering of Mango Bubble Tea from China.  Then we had 3 Daughters Brewing Awake Coffee Blonde Ale from Hops and Barley.  Finally, as we filmed our final segment in the rain (shout out to Katherine from the Japan booth for giving us plastic trash bags to try to keep dry!), we had Draft Sake in Japan.   BONUS: Steph’s recommendation this week flashes back to our Wine and Dine episode about Flavors from Fire from 2019.  Check it out here! THAT’S A WRAP Thank you so much to Hilton Bonnet Creek for hosting us during this race weekend!  Their Marathon Weekends package is not to be missed!  Are there races we should try?  Want to reach us with a tip, trick, or recommendations?  Our email is info@runeatdrink.net. RUN This week, we recap our 10K race at Walt Disney World in Orlando.  RunDisney knows how to do it right.  The course had some key changes this year that we will discuss plus our race strategy, weather, and the beautiful medal.    Would we do it again?  Of course, because it is the first half marathon we ever did together and it has a special place in our hearts.  Would we recommend it?  Yes!  If anyone is looking to get into running and accomplishing their first big race, this weekend has a 5k, 10k, and half marathon distance, it is one of the most friendly courses with the most support around.   EAT We sampled flavors from the Donut Box, Africa, China, Canada, and Ireland during this trip to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. By far our favorites were Canada and Ireland.  Canada had their famous Cheddar and Bacon Soup with a Pretzel Roll that we had to compare against Ireland’s Warm Irish Cheddar and Stout Dip with Irish Brown Bread.  DRINK We toasted our accomplishments with tasty beverages from the Donut Box, Africa, China, and Ireland during this trip to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival.  We had both beer and cocktails at the festival, but I think the beer offerings were by far my favorite, including Tusker from Africa that we sampled at Animal Kingdom Lodge in the past as well as Brehon Brewhouse Killanny Red Ale from Ireland and both are excellent examples of light and refreshing beverages perfect for an outdoor festival in Florida. THAT’S A WRAP Thank you so much to Hilton Bonnet Creek for hosting us during this race weekend!  Their Marathon Weekends package is not to be missed!  We will talk about it more next week on our half marathon episode!  Are there races we should try?  Want to reach us with a tip, trick, or recommendations?  Our email is info@runeatdrink.net. RUN This week, we start to recap our amazing 2019 Wine and DIne Half Marathon Weekend.  We start with all the pre-race festivities, including Packet Pickup, Expo, and a chat with Olympian and America’s Coach, Jeff Galloway.  He discusses considerations for those of us who are running the 2-Course Challenge and it applies for anyone who may be thinking about it in 2020! EAT Carb-loading for your races at Disney?  Look no further than Harvest Bistro.  Located on the ground floor of the Hilton Bonnet Creek, it has something for everyone in the family, including a dynamite breakfast buffet that we have had before as well.  We dined there on not one but two separate occasions during our stay, so we had the chance to sample pasta from both the regular and Marathon Weekends menus.  All four dishes were so flavorful and filling!  What a great way to get fueled and ready for a successful race. DRINK Myth Bar inside the Hilton Bonnet Creek is an amazing bar and has a special place in our hearts because that is where we uploaded our first podcast episodes and shared them to Apple Podcasts (formerly known as iTunes...).  Have you tried their charcuterie plate?  If not, you should.  But, more importantly, since this is the drink segment of our show, we have to talk about the Goldmine as one of the best celebratory beverages we have ever had.  It is tobacco-infused bourbon, ginger ale, and “gunpowder” which is cocoa powder.  It is strong, smokey but with a hint of sweetness.  Such a great beverage to sip in the bar right by the fire pit while watching the Walt Disney World fireworks show, without having to fight crowds!! THAT’S A WRAP Thank you so much to Hilton Bonnet Creek for hosting us during this race weekend!  Their Marathon Weekends package is not to be missed! Welcome to Orlando, Florida and Walt Disney World for the 2018 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend, Two-Course Challenge, and Epcot Food and Wine Festival! RUN In this episode, we run the half marathon on Sunday of the RunDisney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend.  The course is relatively flat and takes you from Magic Kingdom parking lot to Animal Kingdom and the beautiful Pandora area then to Hollywood Studios before finishing around the World Showcase at Epcot.  My cameraman narrates most of this episode because he wanted me to run "my race at my pace" for this comeback.  It is a comeback because we were picked up at mile 10 of this same half marathon last year. So we had to return and finish what we started.  A year later, 50 pounds lighter, and feeling good on race day, this was an emotional one for the books!   EAT We visited the Flavors from Fire booth at the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival to have their smokey and delicious offerings.  The Piggy Wings are pork wings with a Korean BBQ sauce and a tangy slaw.  The smell of the booth alone is worth Disney bringing it back next year.  We had more from the booth because of the fantastic aroma, so stay tuned for Quick Bites with more to share! DRINK Flavors from Fire also had an interesting bourbon beverage called the Swine Brine.  Jim Beam, lemon juice, apple cider, and dijon mustard!  Who thought to put all that together?  A genius, that's who.  THAT'S A WRAP Thank you for watching! This is a unique trip for a first-timer or someone who hasn't been in a while and requires some carefully planned choices that should be made ahead of time to get the most out of the experience. Together, we'll make suggestions and talk about the choices they've made so far.

This was a tough episode for me to do because of how the race turned out for me.  I had surgery for a torn meniscus, and I had not done the work of losing the weight for this race, so my knee decided not to cooperate this time around. A sad result, but I will come back next year and fight for redemption using the lessons I learned this year. But, it is a race that everyone should know about and if you love to Run, Eat, and Drink, like I do, hence the podcast, then the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and the Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend are events you should check out! In this episode, we recap the race, and show for the first time on a RunDisney race course, Pandora in Animal Kingdom, which was just beautiful.   We wanted to complete the other 3 miles to earn the half marathon medal that they gave us, even though we could not earn the challenge medal.  So we were off to the World Showcase at Epcot and we walked it three times to complete the rest of “our race.” That gave us the chance to share the beer cheese soup from Canada and Moosehead Lager with you.  They are amazing samplings from the Food and Wine Festival.  We have others to come in upcoming Quick Bites. It was an amazing time and I highly recommend RunDisney weekends.  They may be pricey, but the course through the parks, the characters on the course, the entertainment, and the bling are all reasons to consider a runcation at Walt Disney World in Orlando.  That is why I featured this race, despite what happened.   Here's a look at the course: So, thanks for watching. In this Quick Bite, we recap the 10K at the 2017 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend.  We did the 10K as part of the Two-Course Challenge. You can find out more about this Orlando and Walt Disney World race weekend on Run Disney's website. It was a nice course that started through the streets around Walt Disney World, then took us to Hollywood Studios, along the water and the awesome scenery as the sun came up along the BoardWalk, and we finished around the World Showcase at Epcot. Check out some scenery and a recap of what it was like along the course in this short quick bite. Here is the course map of where we ran 10K. I discovered what it was like to have some left in the tank at the end of a race to surge and finish ahead of the balloon ladies.  For those who don't know, I talk about who they are in this quick bite.  They are such nice ladies that help us keep pace.  I just wish I had reserved more for the half marathon because I think my surge here coupled with my previous knee injury had an impact on my Half Marathon performance the following day.  More on that in an upcoming episode. Calling all fans of Disney, Running, or Inquiring Minds about how much protein to eat. We have the episode for you.  You'll hear all about the MAJOR pixie dust my son William received at Typhoon Lagoon, the best places to run at Disney World, where to eat at DW, what rides you must ride, and the resorts my husband Robert and I recommend.  Becky Kotsifas is back to tell us about her third half marathon this year at Disney, the Disneyland Half Marathon, and compares it to other runDisney races she has run.  Serena Marie, RD,  talks all things protein and then Serena and I discuss our training for the Chicago, NYC, and Philadelphia Marathons. Want to know about how you too can have the gift of running be a part of your lifestyle? Head over to therunninglifestyle.com/join and you'll receive the 11 Strategies to Live the Running Lifestyle. Special thank you to Jeff Galloway and ElliptiGo for getting me ready to run the Chicago, NYC, and Philadelphia Marathons.  ElliptiGo is like a an elliptical machine/bike that you ride outside. It gives you a great runners high (and I mean HIGH) and lets you “run” without the impact! William Gormley ·         How to experience the ultimate pixie dust at Disney World, which is opening a park.  William Gormley shares with you how he was “Big Kahuna” and what that means.  And how you can be Big Kahuna someday. Robert Gormley ·         What resorts to stay at and running around the Boardwalk, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom (don't do it!), and Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter ·         New restaurants we tried  ·         The restaurant which is the best value when it comes to Crab Legs ·         The number one tip when eating at Be Our Gust ·         Favorite restaurants we go to every time ·         What dessert NOT TO MISS at Boma ·         What rides not to miss at the parks ·         What great tips we received from The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa. The big takeaways when it comes to the interviews with William and Robert Gormley is that you need to get to a park early, if you want to be able to open it.  We strongly recommend running at the Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter Resorts.   Some restaurants not to miss are Cape May Cafe, Be Our Guest, Boma, Sanaa, California Grill, Wolf Gang Puck Express, and Narcoose's. Our favorite rides include Kilimanjaro Safari, Expedition Everest, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain, Toy Story Midway Mania, Soarin, and Test Track. We booked directly with Disney World this trip.   When we don't go through the Disney World Reservations to book our trip, we have been very happy and satisfied with David's Vacation Club Rentals.  Through David's service, we have been able to pay a moderate hotel's price, but stay at Deluxe Resorts including Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club, Animal Kingdom Kidani Village (with a savannah view) and the Boardwalk Resort.  Every time we have requested a certain type of room, David's team has been able to come through for us (thank you!). Becky Kotsifas  ·         Discusses her year of Run Disney - Princess Half, Tinkerbell Half, Disneyland Half, and Wine and Dine Half ·         The special medals Becky has received for running multiple races ·         Celebrating the 10 year Anniversary of runDisney ·         Highlights of the Disneyland Half Marathon ·         The signs along the course ·         The breakdown of men vs. women in the Disneyland Half ·         Why the Wine and Dine Half Marathon is a favorite among many people Serena Marie, RD,  ·         Why you need protein even if you're not lifting a lot of weights ·         Serena's explanation of how much protein a runner needs & how to do it ·         How to estimate your protein needs depending on your running distance and goals ·         How to estimate a portion of protein if you are a man or woman ·         Where to go for a list grams of protein in foods ·         What are great sources of protein   The big take-aways from our talk with Serena are to know how much protein you need based on your goals, weight, and distance.  If you're training for for 5ks/10ks or recreational running aim for ~1 gram of protein per kilogram.  If you're training for  marathons should aim for ~1.2-1.4 gm/kg protein. If you're training for endurance events in conjunction to heavy strength training regimen ideally aim for ~1.6-1.7 gm/kg. Go to https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/eat/fd_exch.htm (which is actually a site through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, but refers to the American Dietetic Association food exchanges) to get a list of how much protein is in a serving. You can estimate protein by looking at your palm.  If you're a woman, your palm can be estimated to be a 4-5 ounce portion of high biological value protein (meat, fish, eggs). If you're a man, your palm will represent 5-6 ounces of high biological value protein. Each ounce of animal protein has 6 grams of protein.   Please say a prayer, send positive intentions, that Serena's knee gets better. Another way to support our efforts is to donate to Team Kari and Serena Run NYC and Chicago for Action for Healthy Kids.  Every dollar makes a difference in helping a child eat healthier foods and move their bodies. Next week we're going to hear from Dr. Vinny Kripalu, MD, an internist who practices an integrated medical approach and is a fellow marathoner.  Please subscribe to the podcast through iTunes, Stitcher, or whatever podcast app you use.  You never know when a surprise episode comes up and by subscribing, you won't miss it. :-)

And now your host - she's an entrepreneur, a marketing maven and an advocate for the LGBT business community. Jenn, with two N's, T. Grace. Welcome to podcast episode #46! Well hello and welcome to Episode #46 of the podcast. I am your host, Jenn Grace, and today I am going to share with you a couple of things that may be seemingly random but we're going to just talk about a couple of things and this episode is probably going to be a little bit shorter than most. So I have three things. So the first is that I want to share a little bit about the half marathon that I completed this past weekend. I've been sharing details of this journey with you since I decided to do it, probably I think it was over a year ago and I'm pretty certain I started talking about it on the podcast from the get-go, so I just wanted to give you a quick update on that. I want to share with you information about what's to come on the blog and the podcast going forward, because November marks - this will be going into my third year of blogging and podcasting - and going into the third year I'm making some changes that I want you to be aware of. And then I have four questions that somebody who attended my webinar last month in October, she had asked me these via email and I have been telling her for quite some time that I'm going to respond to them and I just don't have the time to type up a written response that I feel like it really deserves; so I decided that I will answer her questions on the air because I think there's something in here that you can learn from as well. So I'm hoping that by my answering her questions there's something as value for you as well. So that's pretty much my agenda for today, like I said chances are this is going to be a shorter episode than usual and I feel like that is completely okay.   First things first... my half marathon update So I said the first thing, I just want to share with you that I have finally completed the - I almost said damn but I shouldn't say damn because it was a good thing. So I have finally completed the half marathon that I set out to complete in August, 2013 is when I first came up with the idea while out with a friend over drinks at the beach, we decided, "Hey, let's run a half marathon," neither of us being runners mind you. And we set out to do the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon which was this past weekend which was November 8th and 9th I believe the dates were. November 8th is what my medal says sitting next to me right to my left. And it was quite, quite the process. So I feel like the reason why I like talking about it on the podcast, I think there's just so many similarities between running when you have a goal and then just running your business. I know I've said this before in speaking engagements that I've done recently,

AUDIO TITLE:  Episode #45 - Interview with Amy Mayes Photography  Jenn T Grace: You are listening to the Gay Business and Marketing Made Easy Podcast, episode 45. Intro: Welcome to the Gay Business and Marketing Made Easy Podcast where you'll learn how to do business with and market to the LGBT community in an authentic and transparent way. We're talking about the $790 billion lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender community. We'll help you grow your business, gain market share and impact your bottom line. And now your host - she's an entrepreneur, a marketing maven and an advocate for the LGBT business community. Jenn, with two N's, T. Grace. Jenn T Grace: Well hello and welcome to episode number 45 of the Gay Business and Marketing Made Easy Podcast. I am your host, Jenn Grace, and today is October 30th, and I am really delighted to be bringing you an interview today that I wasn't planning on bringing to you for a couple of months now, but I have a great interview to share with you today with Amy Mayes of Amy Mayes Photography. She is a New York based- or New York City based photographer who is an ally to the LGBT community, who is also an LGBT rights activist. And I absolutely loved the conversation that she and I had, and I'm really excited to be sharing it with you. And what makes this conversation even more cool and fun in my opinion is the fact that Amy is a follower of the podcast, so it was kind of- it was interesting to kind of have the tables turned. So instead of listening to the podcast at the gym, the next time she's at the gym listening to it, she'll be listening to the podcast with herself. So I think that's pretty cool, so I am super excited about sharing the interview with you, she's just got some great, great insights as it relates to LGBT and being an ally, and how to really use that as an opportunity within your business. So I'm excited about that, but as always before we get into the interview, I do want to just mention a couple of things. And today I'm going to be more brief than usual, and I know that that's somewhat probably famous last words at this point. But I want to mention three things. So the first of the three is on a personal note, that as you're listening to this, if you're listening to it when it actually airs on October 30th of 2014, by the time we speak on the next podcast which will be in the middle of November, I will finally have had completed the half marathon that I have been talking about with you guys for quite some time now. I have been- I've really been sharing my journey with you since I decided to do this over a year ago, and the day is finally coming. So in about a week I will be running the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida, and I'm super excited about it. I finally did my first training run of that full distance not last weekend, but the weekend before, so I made the full 13.1 miles, still standing when I reached the end of it, and I did it in two hours and 39 minutes, and 29 seconds. So my goal has been to do it in 2:55 or less, so I already beat my goal. So I am super, super excited. So I will certainly be updating you with information as i...

AUDIO TITLE:  Episode #32 Jenn T Grace: You are listening to the Gay Business and Marketing Made Easy Podcast, episode number 32. Grace. Jenn T Grace: Well hello and welcome to episode number 32 of the Gay Business and Marketing Made Easy Podcast. I am recording today from the sunny, sunny area of Connecticut where spring has finally sprung. It is April, and finally we are done- well we appear to be done with winter, although the other day we did get three inches of snow unexpectedly. So maybe I shouldn't talk too soon. But I am quite pleased, and because of the fact that spring has sprung I have my slider door open, so you will likely be able to hear the garbage truck that was just rolling by, my cat chattering at the birds, or the birds themselves. So it's just a warning that there is a little bit of background noise today. But I can't possibly even imagine shutting the door because the weather just feels so nice, because it has been such a long, unpleasant winter. So with that being said I am quite pleased to bring you an interview today with Mary Malia who is the Gay Girl Dating Coach. She had- I feel like this was an awesome interview, I had so much fun doing this with her, and I'm really, really excited for you to have a listen to today's episode. But I do want to just kind of talk about a couple random things first as I usually do. And the first of those random things is the fact that this coming Saturday, April 5th, is my first race, my first road race on my journey to completing a half marathon in November. I really just started kind of picking up speed in terms of- not speed literally but picking up my pace if you will, in terms of really training for this half marathon. So I really kind of kicked it up a notch in February, and I went through February and March, and I'm doing a 5k so it's nothing too exciting, too extravagant, but it is my first race of the season so I'm super excited. I have many 5k's, 10ks, 8 milers, 10 milers, you name it, all planned between now and November when I run the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida. So I'm pretty excited about that. That's really I would say the only big thing in my personal life happening right now that I wanted to share, since you all have been on this journey of my racing endeavors as I've been sharing updates as I go along. So that's pretty exciting. Another thing that I want to mention, is I talk about LGBT chambers of commerce a lot. And if you are a long-time listener of this podcast since we are done- somewhere over sixty episodes,

This week, we welcome Joseph Titizian, writer for the Walt Disney Family Museum blog, to join us in a celebration of the life of Diane Disney Miller, with whom Joseph was a good friend. We look at Diane's philanthropic work and humble pursuit of truth regarding the legacy of her father, Walt Disney. Joseph also shares some personal stories of his history with the Walt Disney Family Museum and his relationship with its founder, Diane. We also remember Walt himself during this 112th anniversary week of his birth, and dig into the archives to discover how Walt celebrated the birth of his first daughter, Diane. Next, Dave talks about the Wine & Dine Half Marathon which was recently hosted at the Walt Disney World resort, and describes the race by which he earned his Coast-to-Coast Race Challenge medal for running two Disney half marathons, one on each coast, in a calendar year. Plus - the holidays have decended upon Disneyland, and we discuss our favorite features found at the resort this season - and more!
