Les études d'animation connaissent depuis quelques années un engouement croissant. A juste titre d'ailleurs ! En effet est-il nécessaire de rappeler que dans cette ère du numérique dans laquelle nous vivons, ces secteurs sont en plein boom et l'animation jouit d'une belle marge de progression. Skillnet Ireland and IDA Ireland are pleased to celebrate the first graduates to achieve a Certificate in Strategic Talent Development awarded by TU Dublin. Developed by Skillnet Ireland in collaboration with IDA Ireland, this new qualification upskills employees with the expertise to build a robust talent development strategy and plan. The Certificate in Strategic Talent Development offers participants a micro-credential award worth 5 ECTS at Level 9 on the NFQ from the Graduate Business School, Faculty of Business at TU Dublin. Skillnet Ireland has been successfully delivering the Strategic Talent Development Programme in partnership with IDA Ireland since 2021, with 50 companies and 77 individuals participating in the programme to date. Mark Jordan, CEO, Skillnet Ireland, emphasised the programme's impact, saying: "This programme is a major step forward in equipping businesses with the strategic talent management skills they need for long-term success. A strong talent development strategy creates a pipeline of talent, with the right skills which contributes to increasing competitiveness for businesses. Through our partnership with IDA Ireland and accreditation from TU Dublin, both companies and learners participate within an environment where they can receive top-tier expertise and recognition. Through initiatives like the Strategic Talent Development Programme, we are not only shaping individual careers but also strengthening the broader ecosystem that drives innovation, competitiveness, and growth." Breda O'Toole, Head of Talent Development and Digitalisation at IDA Ireland, said: "We are immensely proud to celebrate the achievements of our first cohort of graduates. This initiative has been instrumental in helping IDA Ireland client companies develop their workforce strategically, supporting them to be prepared for future skills demands. The knowledge and tools gained through this programme will have a lasting impact on both individuals and businesses." Dr Colin Hughes, Head of TU Dublin Graduate Business School, said: "Strategic talent development is vital for businesses to remain resilient and adaptable in today's fast-changing economy. This programme, an important part of our wider executive education portfolio, sets a benchmark for targeted upskilling, delivering high-impact learning that enhances capacity while offering formal recognition of skills and expertise." The programme was accredited by TU Dublin last year, underscoring the importance of the learning and the value of the qualification. The graduation ceremony for the programme was held on April 4th at TU Dublin's Aungier Street campus, where the graduates were recognised for their achievements and contributions to strengthening the talent landscape. Skillnet Ireland, IDA Ireland, and TU Dublin remain committed to fostering workforce development and look forward to expanding the programme's reach in the coming years.

This podcast discusses teacher training and induction, offering practical advice for trainee and early career teachers (ECTs) and their mentors. Our expert panel explores the Department for Education's new Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework – due to come into effect in September 2025. The combined ITT-ECF sets out what trainee and ECTs need to know – and know how to do – at the start of their careers and the panel discuss what is in the new combined framework and how it might work in practice, including how the distinct ITT and ECF elements will work together and key elements such as SEND and inclusive practice. We also touch upon the eight standards within the framework and invite our guests to pick out some of the elements crucial to meeting these standards. We discuss the transition from being a trainee teacher to being an ECT, including how trainees can best be supported to progress from trainee to ECT and then to successfully complete their induction and become fully qualified. We offer advice on a number of specific issues, including how ECTs can manage their priorities and embed themselves into their new schools as well as advice for trainees when applying for their first teaching job, among other “top tips” for new teachers. Our panel also discusses mentorship – what skills do good ECT mentors need and what support should they be offering to new teachers? What should new teachers expect from their mentors?

Education On Fire - Sharing creative and inspiring learning in our schools

Ally Sousa has worked in education for more than 16 years and has a longstanding interest in teachers' CPD and supporting ECTs. She's a former teacher and currently leads the content creation at BlueSky Education where she works with a wide range of teachers to create professional development resources.Prior to joining BlueSky, Ally taught in secondary education. While teaching physical education at Gosport and Fareham MAT, she took on the role of Initial Teacher Training manager and professional mentor, supporting primary, secondary and special phase trainees across a range of training pathways, and developing continued professional development programmes for trainees, ECTs and experienced members of the school community.Ally is keen to help teachers to have more constructive conversations about professional development with those who support them. She would love to discuss how teachers can take more ownership of professional development, how PD can happen throughout the year, the approaches early career teachers take to CPD, and why she is so pleased to see performance-related pay consigned to the education policy bin.Websitewww.blueskyeducation.co.ukSocial Media Information@BlueSkyMatters - twitter.com/BlueSkyMattersfacebook.com/blueskymatterslinkedin.com/company/bluesky-educationResourcesSchubert - Symphony No. 4Parenting Hell PodcastShow Sponsor – National Association for Primary Education (NAPE) www.nape.org.ukSupport the show at www.educationonfire.com/supportHave you seen our live shows on YouTube? www.EducationOnFire.com/youtube

They're closing the digital divide for rural America. The truth is, is as they do that, as they bring the better broadband, they're really opening themselves up for competition on the business voice side of the house. The challenge is that, “Once that big, fast broadband is in place, it's very easy for larger voice -only competitors to come in and really take that phone revenue that they were hoping for when they built out this broadband infrastructure.” In this podcast, Bob discusses how ClearlyIP can help. “We believe that we can come in, we can partner with the local exchange carriers, help them keep their phone numbers, help them keep their customers.” Bob discusses how ClearlyIP can partner with the local carriers to provide customers with all their needs, sate of the art solutions, but solutions which will allow the local carriers to stay within their more limited resources. Geographically vast, in many cases, many of these carriers serve small populations. The economies of scale, the geography and the distances, demand robust solutions but at cost effective pricing. “What we are helping them do is keep that phone revenue, keep that voice revenue along with keeping that broadband revenue to make that investment pay off.” CEO, Tony Lewis will join Bob in booth 613-615. Assistant Principal Podcast Content Episode OutlineShow title and release date: November 22, 2022Show Description:Last episode we looked at the flywheel through the lens of normative, or group, professional development. Remember, the flywheel refers to a set of practices that, when executed over and over again, build positive momentum that improves the organization and leads to fulfillment of the purpose. In a school, this translates to supporting teacher growth by providing professional development, following up with targeted observations that gather data about the implementation of the practices from the PD, and then using the data to drive the next PD session. Today we will look at how the flywheel changes when we focus on a specific teacher's growth as opposed to developing a group of teachers.Show IntroHello colleagues and welcome to the Assistant Principal Podcast. I'm your host Frederick Buskey. The goal of this podcast is to help improve the life and leadership of assistant principals. This is a content-focused episode. The content will stand on its own, but we will take a deeper dive into the topic in an upcoming issue of Quadrant2. Members of our APEx Community can expect to get support on implementing the ideas we are looking at and adapting them to their unique contexts. You can learn more about APEx and Quadrant2 at frederickbuskey.com/theassistantprincipal.Celebrations:Last week's facilitationThe Big IdeaIn last week's flywheel example we supported a group of ECTs in implementing a beginning of class procedure. We taught the teachers the components of a good procedure and how to teach and reinforce it with their students. We collected normative data on: 3 steps of the procedure Number and quality of reinforcement statements Type of prompts used to redirect students Notes about the writing prompt We aggregated that data noticed that the writing prompts were a weak spot. In talking with the teachers we learned there was a lack of clarity on what a good prompt looked like and how to write it, so that would be the next round of PD. This was all a normative process – for a group. But what about the flywheel used for an individual teacher?Example of Mr. Gale, weakness in store step and reinforcement (6/118). This leads us into a formative coaching cycle.Other things to think about: Flywheel depends on infrastructure: Scheduled ILT Structured agenda focused on teacher development Tracking teacher progress and focus areas (ep 14) Normative, formative Consistent feedback PD planning Scheduled observations Skills: Adapting/creating targeted observation instruments Recording data accurately Leading conversations around data with teachers Trust your teachers to use the data and lead the process Group or individual The vision: Everyone is growing all the time One is better than none, a few are better than none If you aren't there, begin with ECTs Reflection: Where are you in this journey? What's holding you back? How can your school get better if you don't have a system for consistently growing your teachers? Show OutroThat wraps up today's content focused episode. We'll be back next week with Dr. David Franklin who founded and oversees a wonderful FaceBook community for school leaders. I'm not a huge fan of FB, but David has provided a nice space for leaders to interact. That group is The Principal's Desk. You'll need to request access and if you decide to do that, please mention that you heard about the group on the podcast – that would be encouraging to both of us.If you enjoyed today's show, please subscribe and rate this podcast. You can ask questions, make requests and give us feedback at frederick@frederickbuskey.com. Monday:Relationships in the workplace take three basic forms:·      Congenial: people share a social bond·      Pragmatic: people share a professional bond·      Collegial: people share professional and social bonds The problem with congenial relationships is that while they make people happy, they don't help us achieve the organizational purpose. The problem with pragmatic relationships is that they only work well for some people.  Collegial relationships thus have two elements – professional and social. The ratios of each will vary, but both are present.  COVID laid bare the idea that work and life were separate, and if we don't have a connection at both levels than we are missing something. TuesdayThe prerequisite is to actually care. We each have a story Three steps to caring:1.     Recognize your own imperfections2.     Appreciate diverse perspectives3.     Learn the stories behind those perspectives Wednesday(Scott) The early steps of building a relationship are to be fully present, ask good questions, and listen. ThursdayBeing vulnerable isn't safe, but here are a couple meaningful ways that you can share vulnerabilities:·      Show that you are human but don't complain·      Ask for help that the listener can give·      Share your dreams and what you are trying to get better at. FridayMy goal this week was not to educate you on relationships, but instead to give you some simple things that you can think about and act upon.·      From this week, what is one thing you can act on?·      Bonus: What have you done this week to build relationships with each of your ECTs?·      What will you do next week? Takeaway·      Building relationships should be intentional·      Learn people's stories by being present, asking, and listening·      Be human, be vulnerable Two dangers:·      Pragmatic (tasks over people)·      Congenial (single dimensional) As leaders, we have an ethical obligation to serve our teachers, to help them grow, and to help them find joy in their work. We can do all those things better when we know their story and when they trust us.   This wraps up this week's Five for Friday rendition of The Assistant Principal Podcast. Show Notes, Episode 53: Supporting New Teachers, August 30, 2022 About this show:In my teacher education program at The Ohio State University, I had two professors who literally wrote the book on managing students and spaces in physical education. Some of our student teaching lessons were taped, and the video was analyzed in six-second increments. Time was coded based on what a specific student was doing and the codes, as I remember them, were: Listening to content, listening to instructions, waiting, off task, and active learning time, or ALT. The goal was to have close to 80% of ALT time. In other words, students would be actively engaged in performing a task for 32 minutes during a 40-minute lesson. This required us as teachers to run highly managed spaces using concrete procedures.  Notable Quotes and Content“The holy grail was ALT, active learning time. The goal was to run very tight lessons and have an extremely well-managed classroom with strong and effective procedures in order to maximize active learning time. This was my teacher ed preparation program.” “The problem is that very, very few beginning teachers went through a program like I did.  The Big Idea: Three big rocks:·      Classroom management·      Curriculum management·      Building relationships with school leadersBased on our collective experiences and in the literature The WhyGreat teachers = great schoolsCan't have great teachers if you can't keep them and can't develop themEthical obligation to support and grow the people we serve ***Almost universally, teachers wanted more contact with their administrators*** “With your lowest performing teachers, the place to start might be making sure that they are putting the time into planning.” Challenges·      Not having time is a false excuse (deal with them on front end or back end)·      Having a clear game plan o   What do you want to do?o   Management, curriculum, relationships and presence·      Taking a team approach  Checking your own pulseWe are 1-3 weeks into the school year·      Could you categorize your early career teachers?·      More importantly, can you define what puts them into those categories and determine what they need most from you?·      Are you supporting them and being directive, or are you making suggestions that are lost on overwhelmed 22-year-olds?·      Do you have a team approach that is prioritizing ECT support? Next steps1.     Build a relationship with your ECTs2.     Have the courage to be more directive in supporting them3.     Drive conversations with your ILT Summarizing (The big takeaway)·      YOU need to support ECT, don't put it all on your mentors·      ECTs want you to be present and direct·      Investing time is not an option – front or back Some help:·      10 Ways in 10 Days is a set of ten 10-minute activities to use with your new teachers in the first two weeks of school. If you aren't sure of where to start with your new teachers, you can use these activities to start building relationships and providing procedural and curricular support.
