It had to happen at some point. The Avalanche's 17 game point streak comes to an end on the road with a 6-3 loss to the New York Islanders, the first time all season the Avs have lost a game by more than one goal. In 27 games. Can this just be a one off performance while the team deals with some sickness, or has the seal been broken on this historic run? Will the powerplay ever be better? We are so excited to have a “Miracle on Ice” - Olympic Gold Medalist – Ken Morrow join us today!! He was the first player in hockey history to win an Olympic Gold Medal and a Stanley Cup in the same season! After the most epic season a player could possible have, Ken didn’t rest on his laurels - he went on to win 4 straight Stanley Cups as an integral part of the New York Islanders dynasty in the 1980s..!! He was one of the most dependable and reliable defensemen of his era, and was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995! However, despite his 4 Stanley Cups and his ‘Miracle On Ice' Olympic Gold Medal, he has yet to receive the same recognition in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Morrow shares some very interesting insights on how a group of U.S. College players were able to knock off the feared Soviet National Olympic team, and how that experience helped groom a 9 year NHL career with 4 Stanley Cups..! Enjoy!!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Mikey, Tom, and Justin talk music, hockey, and anything else that gets in their way. Tom and Mikey are lifelong friends that grew up on Long Island during the glory days of alternative music where our local bands were As Tall As Lions, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Bayside, The Sleeping, Envy on the Coast, you get the point. We spent many nights together at The Downtown, catching any pop-punk, indie, hardcore, or emo band that came through. This was not a phase, Mom! Fast forward 20 years and we are still just as passionate about the scene as we were during our girl jeans and youth XL band tees days. Tom and Mikey are diehard New York Islanders fans, but Justin (Bolts fan) likes to remind us that we are #notanislespodcast. As we got older we realized we can like more than one thing and running beside our love for music has always been our love for hockey. Send us a textIn this episode of Leave Your Mark, I'm honoured to welcome one of the most iconic defenders in NHL history — Zdeno Chara.Zdeno, born in Slovakia, played 24 seasons in the National Hockey League with the New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, and Washington Capitals. Standing at 6'9", “Big Zee” is the tallest player ever to compete in the league — but his impact stretched far beyond physical stature. As Captain of the Boston Bruins for 14 seasons, Zdeno led with humility, discipline, and purpose. He won the Norris Trophy in 2009, appeared in three Stanley Cup Finals, and raised the Cup in 2011 — becoming one of only five European-born captains to ever do so. Over 1,600 NHL games, he built a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and a relentless work ethic.Internationally, he represented Slovakia with pride, earning two silver medals at the World Championships. In 2022, he retired as a Boston Bruin and will have his number, 33, raised to the rafters in January 2026. Most recently, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.Beyond the accolades, Zdeno is a devoted husband to Tatiana and a father to three young children — and in this conversation, he opens up about leadership, resilience, growth, family, and what it means to evolve beyond the game. This is a special one. BT & Sal kick off the show by breaking down a potentially historic Thanksgiving NFL slate, from the Lions-Packers to the huge Chiefs-Cowboys showdown, while also discussing the accelerating pace of time as you age. The focus shifts to baseball, tearing into the Yankees' potential failure to land a star like Kyle Tucker and the need for a "simple, cost-effective move" to trade for Kwan. The hosts give an update on Rick Pitino's St. John's team after a tough loss, noting the team needs to find its identity. They also react to a Japanese star's fiery quote about wanting to "take down the Dodgers." Finally, producer Hoff joins for the Bald Faced Lie, Bald Faced Truth segment, challenging the hosts with three volatile statements: The Yankees will spend more money adding to the roster than the Mets this offseason. (Lie/Truth) The Rangers will finish with a worse record than the Devils and Islanders at the end of the season. (Lie/Truth) The Knicks will win the NBA Cup this season. (Lie/Truth)
BT and Sal dive into a heated ranking of New York sports owners, judging them not just by success, but by passion versus pure business. Sal argues that John Mara is the most passionate, putting him at number one because he "bleeds blue" and is destroyed by losses. They place Steve Cohen (Mets) and Jon Ledecky (Islanders) high on the "passion" list, calling them hands-on and emotional. Conversely, they brand Hal Steinbrenner (Yankees) and James Dolan (Knicks/Rangers) as the "bottom-line bosses," prioritizing business over fanatical winning. Woody Johnson (Jets) is acknowledged for his passion and major facility investment, but his lack of a "know-how" strategy keeps him out of the top tier. The debate ultimately pits the caring owners against the calculating ones in a fiery New York sports hierarchy.
BT & Sal bring the heat in the Bold Faced Lie, Bold Faced Truth segment with Hoff, covering New York's top sports headlines. The hosts clash over these three statements: The Yankees will spend more money adding to the roster than the Mets this offseason. (Sal & BT: LIE; Hoff: TRUTH) The Rangers will finish with a worse record than the Devils and Islanders at the end of the season. (Sal & BT: TRUTH; Hoff: LIE) The Knicks will win the NBA Cup this season. (Sal & BT: LIE) The Knicks debate gets particularly fiery, with both hosts expressing zero faith in the team's ability to win the new NBA Cup or a championship due to the continuous Karl-Anthony Towns drama and defensive deficiencies, contrasting it with a "more buttoned-up" Tom Thibodeau-led team. They also dig into the Yankees' reliance on young, low-salaried players and the Mets' potential for a massive winter splurge.
Mike Benton, Everett Fitzhugh, and Al Kinisky have the Nov. 24 episode of Kraken Weekly, joined by Tom Gazzola of Edmonton Sports Talk, and including head coach Lane Lambert's comments after a road trip shootout loss at the New York Islanders. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After that, we analyze Hockeytown's goaltending, and whether calling up Sebastian Cossa is warranted to reward him for his strong play and to shake things up for John Gibson (41:55). We then make the case of Alex DeBrincat's Team USA Olympic roster chances, discuss his strong play alongside Dylan Larkin & Lucas Raymond, how he stacks up to Caufield, Tage Thompson, Kyle Connor, & others, and more (56:55).
