En Noviembre de 2020, en el Pacífico Norte, frente a la costa de Ucluelet, en la Columbia Británica, Canadá. Una boya, propiedad de MarineLabs, que flotaba tranquilamente, de repente fue impulsada hacia el cielo por una masa de agua brutal. La boya registró una ola de 17,6 metros de altura. En oceanografía, para que una ola se considere 'vagabunda' o 'solitaria', tiene que ser, como mínimo, el doble de alta que las olas que la rodean. En el fenómeno de Canadá, se dio una anomalía estadística absoluta. Las olas circundantes medían unos 6 metros, y la ola de Ucluelet medía casi 18. Fue tres veces más alta que sus vecinas. Por eso, proporcionalmente, es la ola más extrema jamás medida por una máquina. Los expertos calculan que un evento así, con esa diferencia de tamaño tan brutal respecto al entorno, solo debería ocurrir una vez cada 1.300 años.

This week, we're excited to be joined by Theresa Kulikowski-Gillespie, a 1995 Team World bronze medalist and Olympic alternate for the gold-medal-winning 1996 U.S. women's gymnastics team. Theresa competed collegiately at the University of Utah, where she was a 14-time All-American and won three individual NCAA titles — including the all-around and balance beam as a freshman in 1999.Following her gymnastics career, Theresa served as a physician assistant in the U.S. Army from 2009 to 2012, including a deployment to Iraq from 2010 to 2011. Today, she runs My Mindful Medicine, where she helps people heal and become the best version of themselves through guided meditation, support groups, and one-on-one mindfulness sessions.In 2024, Theresa published Beyond the Chalk Box, a book that explores the challenges and triumphs of former elite gymnasts through their own stories and reflections. Fue uno de los mayores terremotos registrados en aquel país. El temblor ocurrido a lo largo de la costa chilena duró cerca de tres minutos y se sintió en varios países, como Argentina, Perú y Brasil. Muchas personas perdieron sus casas y también familiares. El sismo fue tan fuerte que generó un tsunami que invadió diversas ciudades costeras y causó daños y pérdidas irreparables.Algunas semanas después del terremoto, el equipo de La voz de la profecía realizó una campaña de evangelización en aquel país y se presentó, incluso, en la ciudad de Concepción, que había sido escenario de la destrucción causada por el tsunami. El programa se llevó a cabo en un gimnasio junto al mar, lugar que aún mantenía un fuerte olor a pescado debido a la inmensa cantidad de agua que había entrado allí. Recuerdo que, en aquella tarde de sábado, muchas personas se emocionaron con los mensajes cantados y hablados. Lo que no sabia en ese momento era que una de nuestras canciones cambiaría la vida de una persona, allí, al otro lado del continente.Luego de la presentación del cuarteto, una mujer nos buscó para contarnos su historia. Estaba ansiosa por conocer al compositor de la canción Solo un poco más, el maestro Ricardo Martins. Con lágrimas en los ojos, dijo que había perdido todo lo que tenía, incluso su casa. Frente a ese estado de desesperación, decidió quitarse la vida, pues sentía que su existencia ya no tenía más sentido.Sin embargo, unos días después del terremoto, alguien le regaló el DVD Hogares de esperanzo, que contenía el clip de la música Solo un poco más, grabada por los Arautos do Rei en 2008. Nos contó que aquella canción había sido una respuesta de Dios para su corazón. Las historias retratadas en el videoclip y la letra de la canción icontaban su propia historia. Descubrió que falta realmente poco tiempo para que Jesús regrese y termine con el sufrimiento.Tal vez estés enfrentando ahora un tsunami terrible en tu vida. Olas de pecado y maldad amenazan con destruir lo más valioso que tienes. Dios tiene el siguiente mensaje para ti: "Es solo un poco más, porque ya te iré a buscar". iMantente firme! Descansa en la promesa de Jesús.

Acostumbrados a la vida de pescadores, las tormentas no eran una novedad para los discípulos. Pero, esta vez, todo lo que sabían parecía no valer de nada. Visiblemente desesperados, recordaron la presencia de Jesús en el barco. Llamaron al Maestro, pero ni siquiera se movió. Sintiéndose abandonados, percibieron, incrédulos, que Jesús dormía.¿Cómo podía hacerlo? Inconformes, los discípulos lo despertaron. Serenamente, sin una nota de desesperación, Jesús levantó sus manos y, bajo su orden, el mar se aquietó.Jesús no se mantuvo por encima de la desesperación por ser Dios, sino porque confió en el amor y cuidado del Padre.De vez en cuando estamos envueltas en preocupaciones imaginarias y reales, ¿verdad? Estas no son necesariamente un mal. Pueden significar fuerza, interés y que valoramos la vida. Sin embargo, terminamos siendo rehenes de la preocupación excesiva, agotamos nuestra energía física y emocional. We've got another new face on the show, and we're very excited about this one — Ashley Johnston, who is entering her fourth season as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.Ashley was an incredible athlete in her own right before becoming a coach. She was a 10-time All-American during her career at Alabama and helped lead the Tide to two SEC titles and two NCAA championships. As a coach, she has continued that success, keeping the program nationally competitive and guiding Alabama to back-to-back NCAA Championship appearances in 2024 and 2025.The Tide kick off the 2026 season this Friday against Clemson at 7 p.m. ET, streaming on ACC Network Extra. Our Coaches Corner series continues this week with Florida Head Coach Jenny Rowland, who is heading into her 11th season with the Gators. Under Rowland, Florida has enjoyed tremendous success — making eight NCAA Championship appearances, including seven trips to the NCAA finals, and earning four SEC Championships. Still, the program is hungry to return to the top of the NCAA Championship podium, a spot they haven't held since 2015.This year's Florida squad features one of the deepest and most talented rosters in the country, and from our conversation with Jenny, it's clear this team is fired up — especially after narrowly missing the Final Four last season. We're so excited about this week's Coaches Corner interview with none other than Jordyn Wieber, now in her sixth season as head coach of the Arkansas Razorbacks! Even with some key injuries last season, the Razorbacks still put together a strong run. Remember, they upset both LSU and Florida when those teams were ranked No. 2 in the nation! While the end of the season didn't go quite as planned — missing out on SEC Championships and not qualifying for NCAAs as a team — we think that's just going to light a fire under them heading into this year.Expect the Razorbacks to bring the heat in 2026.
