This was a 2-week extravaganza, where they did a split-stay with a week each at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Coronado Springs Resort (in the Gran Destino Tower). We talk about fun times in the theme parks as well as water parks, amazing dining at places like Maya Grill, 1900 Park Fare, Tusker House, and more! We are excited to speak with friend of the show Matt from New Jersey today about his trip down to Walt Disney World just two weeks ago with extended family where he stayed in the Villa at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! We hear about planning a trip for both little kids and his parents and in-laws at the same time. We discuss dining at places like Biergarten, Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, Citricos, and more! Matt also shares why his trips have become more enjoyable the more he slows down and really enjoys quality time in the theme parks over quantity! This and much more on today's show! Send us a Text Message.Kris is back on the podcast as we recap our Walt Disney World vacation together! We had the ultimate girls' trip, starting with a brunch and meeting up with friends at Summerhouse on the Lake, located at Disney Springs. We also visited a candle shop, picked up some scents, and enjoyed the best activities around Mother's Day at Disney Springs. Then we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare, the newest character meal to return to Walt Disney World Resort, located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. We topped it off with a visit to the Enchanted Rose, which is the second-floor lounge also located at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.We spent the next day at all four parks doing a Four Park challenge, which consisted of riding a roller coaster, meeting a character, and having a snack. We walked well over 13 miles this day but were able to do a lot at all of the parks. We're even giving you all the tips and tricks on how to do your own Four Park challenge, especially if you have only one day at the park and want to maximize it.We ended our trip with breakfast at 'Ohana, which is the best friends' breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. Then we had a magical afternoon at Disney's Animal Kingdom, where we met some special characters during the Earth Week celebration. 1900 Park Fare recently reopened at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and I returned with my family to enjoy the new experience. While some elements of this Walt Disney World restaurant remain the same (Big Bertha as a centerpiece and the return of the famous strawberry soup), the venue takes on a new theme of "wish fulfillment" and some new characters to help guests cast their wishes, including Tiana (in her Tiana's Bayou Adventure attire), Cinderella, Snow White, Mirabel, and Aladdin (as Prince Ali). In this episode, enjoy our live dining review at 1900 Park Fare, where we discuss the food, chat about the theme and atmosphere, and converse with some favorite Disney characters. After a long closure, the popular Disney character dining restaurant 1900 Park Fare is finally reopening at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. What to wear when dining there, plus our take on the new Disney Weddings Villains Gowns. Would you wear a black wedding gown? The "Grand" Reopening of 1900 Park Fare is on April 10 at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort1900 Park Fare is re-opening at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort on April 10, 2024, but it's nothing like it was before as some major changes have taken place. The restaurant will be open for breakfast and dinner (no lunch service), with buffet dining at both seatings. One big point of differentiation is that it will be the same character experience at both breakfast and dinner, whereas breakfast and dinner offered different characters in the past.Who are the Characters You Can See at 1900 Park Fare? Aladdin in his Prince Ali look, Cinderella, Mirabel and Tiana in her new look for Tiana's Bayou Adventure. If you're wondering how this peculiar selection of characters ties together, Disney has positioned it as "they celebrate the power of a wish."New Decor at 1900 Park Fare1900 Park Fare was in need of a reno, so the refreshed dining room is a good thing. If you are a longtime patron of 1900 Park Fare you'll be glad to know that Big Bertha (the antique organ that is a Grand Floridian original since 1988) is front and centre in the restaurant. There is a new mural for the entrance and different decor in the different rooms, including drawings of carousel animals inspired by Alice in Wonderland and The Little Mermaid. In the Main Dining Room there are twelve new portraits created in the impressionist art style of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The murals feature different Disney characters as they hope, dream and wish upon a star (or even a magic lamp or a wishing well). What to Wear to Breakfast or Dinner at the all-new 1900 Park FareWhether you go all out or just like to wear something with a subtle tie-in, it's fun to theme your wardrobe to a themed restaurant--especially if you have little ones.In this episode of the Disney Travel Style Podcast, Amelia shares her advice on to take a Disney Bounding style approach to the all-news 1900 Park Fare character dining at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort.-- Give Your Disney Wedding a Villainous TouchIn our last episode we discussed the new line of Disney Wedding gowns for 2024 and now Disney has released wedding gowns from the darker side. Disney Villains Wedding GownsThe Disney Villains inspired collection from Allure Bridals feature stunning black wedding gowns inspired by Maleficent, Ursula, Jafar and the Evil Queen. All four styles are available starting at $2,000. And yes, you can get them in ivory as well if black is just too much. But we say if you're going to go there...then go all the way!The Ursula gown features a mermaid silhouette with tonal sparkle beadwork on the bodice. Drawing on the flair for the dramatic that is Ursula's trademark, this gown has detachable sheer sleeves including ruffled detailing at the cuffs. If Maleficent is more your style, you can go with a fitted sheath gown in black and green. This gown is truly eye catching, featuring shimmering green velvet and very delicate lace appliques, layered over black organza. The ivory version has chiffon lace accents for a softer touch, but, again, if you're going to go then go all the way.The Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs comes with linear lace, floral embellishments, beads, and sequins delicately scattered over tulle. The dress features sweetheart neckline leading into a peaked bodice, complemented by truly eye-catching embroidery (which is a trademark of all of these gowns). This gown is rounded out with a wrapped ruffle shawl for an added layer of wicked elegance. The Evil Queen wedding gown is available in black, ivory, or gold. Finally, in a unique twist, there is a wedding gown inspired by a male villain: Jafar from Aladdin. This Disney Villain wedding gown features a plunging neckline inspired by Jafar's trademark collar and it's accentuated by a satin collar. For a sophisticated twist, the bodice is tailored with a nod to menswear (ast Disney puts it) and is paired with lightly puffed full-length sleeves with buttoned cuffs. The Jafar gown is offered in either a subtle ivory or a bold black. --Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. What you want to know when planning your 2024 Walt Disney World vacation. While there may not be a brand new marquee ride or attraction launching at Disney World in 2024, there are still several reimagined rides coming your way, plus some returning old favorites and new onsite Disney accommodations. What's Ahead for Walt Disney World in 2024 Everything You Need to Know for Planning Your 2024 Disney World Vacation What's New at Walt Disney World? What's Changing? And what could we see at Walt Disney World in 2024 that hasn't yet been announced? New Rides and Attractions Coming to Walt Disney World in 2024 Two (sort of) new rides are on the way...and possibly a thirdAll three are not technically new, but rather they are overhauls of existing rides. Tiana's Bayou Adventure (previously Splash Mountain) The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure (previously Voyage of the Little Mermaid) Still in question (currently Rock'n'Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith) Some Old Favorites Return to Walt Disney World in 2024The Disney Dining Plan is back, Disney World park hopping is back, and the Disney World Park Pass reservation system is gone for some guests. Genie+ will undergo some sort of change in order to target the disruptive 7:00 a.m. day-of booking procedure.Beyond that, we can expect further price increases to continue and even more tweaks as Disney tries to address the fixes they made when things weren't broken. One big question mark is still the long outstanding re-opening of 1900 Park Fare at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort. Two New Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Resorts will Open at Walt Disney World in 2024 The Polyday Inn (as we call it), aka the new Polynesian Village DVC Tower and the DVC Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground are both scheduled to open at some point in 2024. We expect the DVC cabins at Fort Wilderness to open first, followed by the new tower at the Disney's Polynesian Village Resort later in 2024.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, Amelia and I hope that you enjoyed it. Today's podcast is a look at the restaurants that I personally am not that fond of, and probably won't return to - given the plethora of choices that exist around the resort. Its not that any of them are bad, its about the bang for the buck, given my tastes and what they offer. Its really about how, IMHO, they miss the mark in some way. For some of them, its the way they use their space, for some its the food, and for a few the "experience" is great but its off for some reason. Now I know that - probably - no one will agree with my list in its entirety, and I'm sure some will think I left off a restaurant. But I wanted to throw out my list and get the conversation started. #10: Mickeys backyard bbq / Hoop De Doo #9: Tony's Town Square #8: Garden Grill #7: Liberty Tree Tavern #6: Pizza Planet #5 O'hana (breakfast) #4: Chef Mickeys (dinner) #3 1900 Park Fare (breakfast) #2: Cinderella's Royal Table #1: 50's Primetime Cafe Have a restaurant you feel this way about? Want to quibble with my list? Post a comment! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message
I often get asked which ones are *MY* favortie restaurants, so on this podcast I tell you. There are 9 restaurants listed, along with 5 that are no longer the same - but which I loved in their previous incarnation. I won't tell you my top 9 here (you have to listen!) but I will tell you that the 5 include: Ariel's, Minnie's Menehune Breakfast, King Stefan's, 1900 Park Fare, and the Tusker House. Do you have a list? Feel free to post it in the comments. ...And at the end of the podcast, I introduce my new app to help you with Pin Trading.http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pin-trading/id521552029?mt=8 Enjoy! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

We are going with another family, but are arriving on two separate days (we check in Saturday, they check in Sunday). This trip each family decided to splurge and get the Deluxe Dining Plan. We made reservations for 14 character meals, plus Be Our Guest breakfast, Tony’s and T Rex. Our friends are arriving a day after us but we are meeting them for dinner at 1900 Park Fare the first day we check in. Since they won’t have their meal plan activated until the following day when they check in, we are going to use the credits from our plan to pay for their meal. Then once their plan is activated they can pay for one of our meals later in the trip. This saves them paying out of pocket and maximizes the credit use."
