Welcome back to the Morning After Series on SUPERWOMEN, sponsored by Magnum Ice Cream! In the second episode of this four-part series, Candace Bushnell, the creator of “Sex and The City,” and I sat down with the fashion icon Nicky Hilton Rothschild, to talk about her experiences with dating and how “SATC” has shaped her life. Nicky is a New Yorker, born and bred. She grew up in the city secretly watching “Sex and The City” when she was a teen, and blowing her entire allowance at Patricia Field's boutique in Greenwich Village on Saturdays with her sister Paris. But her love life hasn't mirrored that of the show's leading ladies. “I wish I had some more salacious stories for you, but I was always that monogamous girl. I was always in, like, a multi-year relationship,” she tells us, “so I didn't get to play in the Manhattan dating playground.” Nicky gives us the scoop on the best places to meet elusive bachelors, how she knew she met The One, which “SATC” character she sees herself in, her cameo that never was, and the one fashion item she still scours the Internet for.Magnum Double Raspberry bars are the perfect indulgent treat for chocolate and fruit lovers this Valentine's Day! When it comes to self-expression, indulgence, and chocolate, more is more with Magnum Ice Cream. Find it at retailers nationwide and at magnumicecream.com. Trust us, you'll love them. In the mid-aughts, America became obsessed with high fashion for some reason. Maybe it was Project Runway's silver-haired imp Tim Gunn whispering in our ears to “make it work.” Maybe we were all bewitched by the well-dressed ladies of Sex and the City. But Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo were suddenly household names. Enter Meryl Streep as the boss from Hell: Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of Runway magazine. She's bringing the fire and brimstone of haute couture to torture her new assistant, played by a fresh-faced Anne Hathaway, in this 2006 comedy written by Aline Brosh McKenna from the novel by Lauren Weisberger. The film was a massive hit, won multiple awards, and scored Oscar noms for Streep and costume designer Patricia Field, who reportedly spent over $1 million to clothe the cast. But does this Runway project make it work? Or does it seem as gauche and dated as last season's trends? They say the devil is in the details, and this time, The Devil Wears Prada. Mara Hoffman knew she wanted to be a fashion designer at only 8-years-old. After graduating from Parsons in 2000, her one-of-a-kind pieces soon caught the attention of legendary costume designer Patricia Field and stylists for budding artists Britney Spears, J.Lo, and Christina Aguilera. Then, 15 years into her thriving business—when her label was synonymous with brightly colored, graphic-print swimwear and garments—Mara decided to pivot her entire model to be a more sustainable one. A move that was inspired by her young son, Joaquin, and envisioning the world he would inherit. In May 2024, she made the industry-rattling announcement that she's taking a break from the fashion industry and putting a pause on her beloved label. In our conversation, Mara provides more context on her new move—and why it's so important for her to lean into parenting right now. We talk about the importance of honoring not only the birth of things, but the death of things—which is made even more poignant after hearing Mara's harrowing birth story, which includes losing one of her twin boys. We also talk about cultivating self-love, parenting a teen, and so much more. *Trigger Warning: This episode includes an intimate story about infant and pregnancy loss, which may be triggering to some listeners. San-Diego born ready-to-wear designer Jonathan Cohen always harbored ambitions of launching his own brand. Following his education at Parsons School of Design and experience with industry luminaries like Patricia Field and Oscar de la Renta, Cohen and his business partner Sarah Leff took the plunge in 2011. He was recognized as a runner-up in the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2018, and gained further acclaim in 2020 for dressing First Lady Dr. Jill Biden on the eve of the presidential inauguration.Throughout his journey, Cohen has eschewed conventional industry norms, relying on his personal vision to drive his business forward and navigate obstacles. Artist Scooter LaForge is a delight. To be honest, I somehow felt like connecting with him on this show was healing for me-now who's the shrink!? Scooter's work is amazing and so instinctual- he cannot not do it. Even though he's worked with big names like he is as humble as can be. So much to learn from his perspective—growing up as a gay man in a tiny town in Arizona. I have to say I was envious hearing of all the free-range outdoor time he had, but alas the town, it's sounds really small and devoid of gays which means a pretty homogenous group of people (boring!) Scooter is the best of what an artist is—someone fueled by their work and satisfied because of it. He complimented me a lot, so I'm going to give him an A as a guest rating. Follow and learn more about Scooter HERE: https://www.scooter-laforge.com/ Instagram @scooterlaforge @scooter_laforge_a_life_of_art/ BIO: Scooter Laforge began his love affair with art at a very young age while growing up in the small town of Las Cruces, New Mexico. His burning desire to render things beautifully began with his singer/songwriter mother, and his landscape painting father; both equally inspired his creativity and lust for art. Laforge's work can be characterized as Pop Art partnered with abstract expressionism and Dutch classicism. His paintings and drawings are portraitures, landscapes, and objective subject matter, utilizing his special painting techniques and incorporating his homoerotic, in your face, non-apologetic lifestyle. Like Golden Books on acid, his work employs a 50's illustrated storybook technique, modernized by 70's color palettes and are influenced heavily by gay pornography, cute fluffy animals, and sometimes iconic cartoons (i.e. SpongeBob Square Pants, The Cookie Monster, and Popeye and Brutis) which are reoccurring characters and themes within his work. LaForge earned his BFA from the University of Arizona in 1993,[5] and began his career as a painter in San Francisco.[6] He moved to New York City in 2001,[3] where he attended the Cooper Union School of Art under a fellowship.[8] His art is in the collections of the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art[9] and Beth Rudin DeWoody.[10] LaForge has a line of hand-painted, unique clothing items that are sold through fashion stylist Patricia Field.[11] He has twice collaborated with Belgian fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck.[12][13] His clothing has been worn by Susanne Bartsch,[14] Sandra Bernhard,[15] Beyoncé,[8] Miley Cyrus,[6] Boy George,[3] Debbie Harry,[8] Nicki Minaj,[3] Madonna,[8] Iggy Pop,[3] Rihanna,[6] and Lil Wayne.[3]

If New York was the 5th lady of ‘Sex & The City’, fashion must have been the 6th. Host Sami Lukis chats to Fashion Editor extraordinaire Paula Joye about the iconic styling of the original series and Patricia Field’s legacy. They analyse some of the looks we've seen from the reboot and discuss the impact the new stylist will have on the show.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Patricia Field is a visionary in fashion with legendary status. The entrepreneur, stylist, costume designer, consultant, and Art Fashion gallerist has made an indelible mark on style. Between 1966 and 2016, the style-conscious flocked to her one-of-a-kind fashion and beauty retail store that was something of a New York City landmark. And then there's Sex And The City. Fashion was changed forever when Pat paired ballet tutus with tank tops, and curated covet-worthy shoes and handbags for the show's stars like delicious candy. As years went by, fans couldn't get enough of the style she served up, devouring her decadent costumes just as much, if not more---than the smash hit series' weekly plotlines. Pat has taught the world to embrace the mix and match and embrace vintage. She's taught people to find their fashion in an array of out-of-the-box places, and she's taught us how to accessorize, all by making on-screen magic with her eclectic, high-low, savvy style. Ugly Betty; The Devil Wears Prada; Emily In Paris and more---we just can't get enough of her courageous costumes that both honor creative expression and create trends. On this podcast, Tamara sits down with her fellow native New Yorker to talk the cyclical nature of fashion, and New York and fashion across the decades, including the club scene---for which Patricia Field has had a front row seat. She shares the incredible story of her start, and how she bloomed because of blouses. We of course talk all the details behind her legendary boutique, and the ins and outs of her eclectic life and style that celebrates diversity. We discuss what it's like to have the shared experience of being both a retailer and a costumer. We get granular discussing her biggest projects: Sex And The City, Emily In Paris… and she dishes about Devil Wears Prada and Ugly Betty. We get into cultural appropriation, her latest projects and a lot more. Tamara first interviewed Pat when she was a fashion editor at Cosmo, reporting in the early days on Sex And The City style. Our Story + Rain Talks podcast series would never be complete without picking up where we left off with Patricia Field those many years ago. Enjoy this in depth conversation with the lady whose legacy has changed and continues to change fashion in such a significant way.
Daphne Rubin-Vega, icon, time travels with Stellene and William back to the early 90s when she was singing in a girl group, selling makeup at Patricia Field, working the downtown comedy scene, and dodging some bullets (shootouts in the club, for real)--all just trying to make her mark in the New York arts community. Musical theater wasn't Daphne's thing, until an audition came along for a moonshot called Rent.
‘And just like that…', la secuela de la serie, se estrenará el próximo mes de diciembre. No estarán ni Kim Cattrall ni Patricia Field, responsable del armario original, pero nada consigue frenar la expectación. Ni siquiera que la fórmula parezca extinguida hoy.
Gird your loins. Quintuple-threat Brian Jordan Alvarez (Will & Grace, Special, Get Shorty, The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo) sits down with me to talk about my favorite "sick day" movie, The Devil Wears Prada.
Brea Stinson is an influential fashion visionary who creates cultural moments through her signature wardrobe styling and inventive costume design. Stinson is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University with a business degree, in her early years she worked under the tutelage of Patricia Field. Under her own brand, Stinson HAUS, she has created epic moments such as Beyoncé's shimmering goddess gold parka, ZAYN'S L.E.D. Illuminated leather and suede jumpsuit, & recreating David Bowie's infamous British Flag trench coat for Rita Ora during Fashion Rock's. The Gumbo Pot Podcast sits down with Bria to discuss her beginnings, lessons learned, creative inspirations, and future endeavors. www.TheGumboPotPodcast.com When you mention the podcast please use #TheGumboPotPodcast email: thegumbopotpodcast@gmail.com Follow all our social media's IG: @thegumbopotpodcast | Twitter: @thegumbopotpodcast
