OPENING ILLUSTRATION: You guys should be excited for me, last summer we were able to trade our minivan in and get me a truck without having to make payments - you know what it's like being the pastor who shows up in a minivan :). When we were looking at trucks, I had found one that was a great price, was in good condition and seemed like a great deal. So, I met the guy who had it at Steve's shop to get it inspected by a mechanic to make sure I wasn't getting into something bad. Steve's mechanic called me out to look under the vehicle. The frame was so rusted you could literally poke your finger through it. It was crazy… I was like, “um, so, I'm not going to buy your truck…” The only thing that would have been cool about driving that truck would have been to see it split in half and it dip in the middle and seeing me driving around with it… lol Over the last few years, I've seen lots of people's lives rust through.  b I have a feeling it's because most people are going through their day to day life without ever inspecting their inner life… What about you? How much time do you spend in a day, week, month or year inspecting your heart? Listen, I don't mean having emotions. I mean taking deep thoughtful time away from binging shows, flipping on a phone, playing games on a device. I don't mean dealing with problems at work or dealing with issues in your relationship. How do you deal deeply with the questions of your heart? Do I matter Does God care What do I do b I think much of our anxiety comes from a deep disconnect with who we are and whose we were created to be. ILLUSTRATION: Think about it, you live in a world that is designed to keep you from noticing who you are and whose you are. You have billion dollar companies who are working night and day to capture your attention and sell it to advertisers. Do a quick check and look just on your phone - open your settings and look at your screen time. I can't prove it, but I bet there is a direct correlation to the anxiety you feel and the amount of screen time you spend. I want to take you to an ancient way of inspection that has almost been lost to us in our modern world that your ancestors would have just naturally done: 5 reminders to help you become the kind of person who inspects their inner life and answer the questions, Do I matter, Does God care, What do I do. What we are about to read is a psalm from King David. Psalms are literally the prayers/songs from someone. They are not meant to teach you theology as much as teach you how to bring your heart to God. with that in mind, listen to David's words.. 1. Remind Yourself of your Place in the Story: Psalm 139:1-24 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. I love that David says “such knowledge is too wonderful for me - to lofty… It is… David is reminding himself that nothing is hidden from God. His place in the story is he's a person and God is God. What would happen to your mental health if you started reading this psalm each day and reminded yourself that nothing you do is hidden from God? ILLUSTRATION: I have a friend who tells his kids “when I ask you a question, you need to know, I already know the answer…” God is like this. He knows everything, He's seen it all, every potential eventuality. You are not Him, you are just a person in the story. I personally try and go out in the country occasionally and find a spot to get out of my car and look at the grandness of the universe and remind myself of my place in the story… 2. Remind yourself of God supremacy in the story: Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. God is all penetrating - nothing is hidden from Him or outside of His purview. ILLUSTRATION: we are bound by time and place, light and dark. We are bound by our physical limitations. God is not bound by any of that. He is Supreme. When was the last time you reminded yourself of the supremacy of God? Spent time praying to Him and just speaking the truth of who God is outlaid? 3. Remind yourself of Your Value to God: For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—when I awake, I am still with you. After all this, David is amazed to think that God thought it fit to create him… Can I just speak to the hearts of some of you right now. Some of you don't have a sense that you matter much. You matter more than you can ever imagine to God. You are fearfully and wonderfully made - God thought of you and decided upon you. He desires you and longs to help you unravel the things that have told you are less than and to help you see who you are. Look at the odds of you existing [Anthony, you can put these 3 on one slide - I'll boogie through it quickly] Chance of Your Parents Meeting: Their geography, social networks, timing, and life circumstances. Any of these things are different, your parents might never have met. The Odds of Conception: The chance of a particular sperm fertilizing the egg that created you is 1 in 100 million. [There are around 100 million sperm vying to fertilize a single egg.] Generational Odds: The chance of your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc., all meeting and reproducing as they did exponentially increases the odds.. A 2011 study from Dr. Ali Binazir tried to put a number to this improbability. After considering all the factors, he estimated the odds of any one person existing as roughly 1 in 10^2,685,000—a number so large it defies true comprehension. The odds of you existing are: 1 in 10^2,685,000 I don't even know how to say that number… and it's not just that you exist, but that you matter to God - He thought of you… 4. Remind God of the battles you are fighting: If only you, God, would slay the wicked! Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty! They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name. Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord, and abhor those who are in rebellion against you? I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies. I don't knwo that many of us would pray like David is here - but what he is doing is bringing his battles before God after settling his heart in the setting of who God is… What battles are you fighting right now? How are you bringing them before God? Are you being honest with Him about your feelings or are you telling Him what you really want (He might not do what you want - He will act out of love, but He will understand your heart) 5. Remind yourself of your need for God: Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. David has poured himself out to God, he's reminded him of his place in the story and the supremacy of God, he's brought his battles to him and now he finishes by swinging back and reminding himself he still needs Jesus. Search me and know my heart - test me and know my anxious thoughts.. David is inviting God into the story of his real life… What about you? CLOSING ILLUSTRATION: Something I've noticed in myself is that I've become a person who is reactive instead of a person who reacts. I think it's because I had gotten to the point where my heart was hidden away and I was just existing. I had gotten to where I didn't want to do things if I didn't have to. I had to make some intentional moves to remind myself of the things that matter. Today, what are you going to do? Are you going to keep going down the road your going down? How about you? Are you reactive or a person who is able to react - the way you would like to. This week, if I could give you one challenge it would be to read Psalm 139 every day and to take your heart to Jesus in prayer through it.

4 Ways You Can Deal with Self-Doubt Everyone experiences self-doubt from time to time. It's part of life. The important thing is that when you do experience self-doubt, you handle it in the right way. This will ensure that you can overcome it and get back on the road to success in no time at all. Keep reading to find a few ways to deal with self-doubt when negative thoughts arise.   1.     Resolve Not to Compare Yourself With Others   Often, thoughts of self-doubt come when you compare yourself to someone else. Resolve in advance not to let this happen.   When it does (which it probably will at some point), remind yourself that you aren't the other person. They have a journey completely different from your own. Look at how far you've come on your journey. Your journey is yours and yours alone.   2.     Remember the Past is the Past   Many people experience self-doubt when thinking about the past. Whenever the past comes up in your mind, remind yourself that it is over and done with. If you dwell on the past, it will make self-doubt worse.   Look towards the future and all of the plans you have instead. It can also help to list all the things you are grateful for in the present.   3.     Remind Yourself that Failures are Lessons   Everyone will have failures at some point in their life. This is inevitable. When you experience a failure, you will likely have some thoughts of self-doubt.   Don't let these get you down. Instead of focusing on the negative, resolve to focus on the positive. Run through the lessons you have learned to feel confident you won't make the same mistake again.   4.     Have a Support System   There is nothing worse than experiencing self-doubts and feeling alone simultaneously. You should do everything in your power to have a support system in place when these doubts start to creep in.   The support system doesn't have to be physical. It could also be a forum or an online support group. Either way, it should be someone you trust to talk to when the going gets rough. They can help remind you of what an amazing person you are and the journey you've embarked on to get where you are.    Overall, battling self-doubt when it pops up is never easy. If you follow the four suggestions on this list, you will find yourself well equipped to deal with self-doubt when it does arise. Before you know it, you'll be back on your way to achieving your dreams as your confident and amazing self! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sarah-sevenfold/support

Mindset For Happiness I spend most of my days finding ways to keep tens of thousands of people worldwide motivated and moving - and that always comes down to a strategy for mindset. Here are a few things you can do - today! 1) Remind Yourself of Your Gratefulness Who or what are you most grateful to have in your life? Sometime today, pause, close your eyes, and fill your mind with the people and things that make your life good. Remember, reminding yourself of why you are grateful makes you unstoppable. 2) Your Actions Reveal Your Purpose What will make you feel like you are living your true self? The items that move you closer to who you are are hidden in your to-do list. What are they? Focusing on fulfilling actions means that you are living your purpose. 3) Strategize THEIR Feelings in Advance You can make someone feel great today. Who will that be? Take a moment and review the people you will interact with today. How do you want to make them feel? When you make others feel good, you feel good too. 4) What CAN You Do? Choose a challenge that has stuck and ask, what can I do? List three challenges that have you stuck and ask what can I do? Then, do it. Nothing can stop you when you ask what can I do? 5) Hold Space For Your Dreams Since today may get busy, what space are you holding for yourself? The space between your appointments today belongs to you. How will you use it to make your dreams come true? When you hold space for your dreams, your dreams always come true. Let me ask you, does someone “telling” you what to do, make you want to run the other way?  What about when you're friend insists you should read “such and such” book?  Do you purpose never to pick it up if it killed you?  If your spouse asks you to do something more than once, do you label it as nagging?  Over the last two episodes, we've been talking about how we meet expectations, internal and external. We're continuing with part 3 - Rebel Without a Cause.  Today is for you if… If you answered yes to any or all of these, you, my friend, you just might be a rebel.  If you're thinking, “You can't call me a rebel!” Well, you're most likely a rebel.  If you're ready to really get what you want in life instead of repel it. So, let's talk Rebels.  Rebels will rebel against both outer and inner expectations. Yes, even internal expectations.  How can you make your Rebel Tendency work for you if you're a Rebel? 1. Give Yourself Choices Rebels like to choose their own path.  Rebels want to express themselves in their own way.  Rebels need freedom. 2. Remind Yourself of the Consequences Weigh the consequences to help you make good choices. Try listing the positives and negatives of your choice. Or, try asking yourself, “What pain will each cause me if I don't do it? What results do I want?” “Which would be easier?”  An example might be, “Do I sleep in and feel lethargic for the rest of the day, or do I get up early, exercise and then feel fully awake to take on the day?” Communicating with a Rebel: First, if you're married to a Rebel or have a Rebel child, don't take their rebel tendency personally. It has nothing to do with you.  1. Rebels Need Choices The key to communicating with a rebel is choices. If you back them into a corner with “should's, have to's and must do's,” they'll naturally go the opposite direction. But it's not personal; they still can love you.  2. Lure a Rebel in With Curiosity Use curiosity to intrigue them into wanting to do what you want them to do. Now, be careful you don't do this to manipulate your Rebel to get what you want for selfish purposes. Curiosity wins a rebel over faster than needs, musts and should. And it still gives them a choice to do something or not. 3. Rebels Need Consequences––Then Leave Them to Choose State the consequences of their actions and then drop it.  Leave them to choose.  They'll decide if the consequence is worth it or not.  Rebel Strengths: Rebels take action because they choose to do it, unlike the Obliger, who tends to do something out of obligation.  Rebels can choose to do the right thing because they love the person they're doing it for. Rebels aren't afraid of saying “no.” So, their calendar usually only has on it what they want to have on it. They typically don't get as overwhelmed with external expectations because of this practice.  Rebels revel in and enjoy their individuality. Rebels also gravitate towards challenges and choose to face them head-on, and they'll do it in their own unique way. As a Rebel, knowing your tendency can help you accomplish your internal and external expectations more effectively. And for us non-rebels, we now have some tools to communicate more effectively with our Rebel friends.  Next up, we'll explore the uniqueness of the Upholder tendency. Gretchen Rubin, the author of The Four Tendencies, is an Upholder. Homework: If you're a Rebel, I have a question for you. You can answer it if you want or leave us in the dark; we're good either way. Just curious, how can non-rebels communicate more effectively with Rebels? Email me if you want to at hello@heatherbunch.com. For us Non-Rebels, what's one thing you can try to communicate with the Rebel in your life better? Thanks a bunch for listening!  You got this, and Father's got you! Until Next Time, Live Fearlessly Free!

The Daily Boost | Coaching You Need. Success You Deserve.

I spend most of my days finding ways to keep tens of thousands of people worldwide motivated and moving - and that always comes down to a strategy for mindset. Here are a few things you can do - today! 1) Remind Yourself of Your Gratefulness Who or what are you most grateful to have in your life? Sometime today, pause, close your eyes and fill your mind with the people and things that make your life good. Remember, reminding yourself of why you are grateful makes you unstoppable. 2) Your Actions Reveal Your Purpose What will make you feel like you are living your true self? Hidden in your to-do list are three items that move you closer to who you are. Make a list of three challenges that have you stuck and ask what can I do? Then, do it. Nothing can stop you when you ask what can I do? 5) Hold Space For Your Dreams Since today may get busy, what space are you holding for yourself? The space between your appointments today belongs to you. How will you use it to make your dreams come true? When you hold space for your dreams, your dreams always come true. If you're feeling like a challenge, turn these into rules and affirmations to live your life. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Today I want to help you Take Control of Your Life.  Sometimes we might feel like LIFE is out of control or forces outside ourselves are running the show.  But, use these 9 strategies to take the wheel and start controlling your life in every area.  And, PLEASE share this show with at least one person you feel would benefit from its message. Here are the 9 strategeis for taking control of your life...enjoy 1-Take Good Care of Yourself- It's much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest. 2-Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For- Stresses and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference. 3-Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions- A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about. 4-Refrain from Using Absolutes- Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend "You NEVER call me!"? Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering. 5-Detach From Negative Thoughts- Your thoughts can't hold any power over you if you don't judge them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don't follow it. 6-Squash the "ANTs"- In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them! 7-Increase Your Social Activity- By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way! 8-Volunteer for an Organization, or Help another Person- Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return. 9-Use Pattern Interrupts to Combat Rumination- If you find yourself ruminating, a great way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination is like hyper-focus on something negative. It's never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented, it's just excessive worry. Try changing your physical environment - go for a walk or sit outside. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music.   Thanks for listening. G

Underneath your frustration, there might be fear, anger, or jealousy.      Ask Yourself Thought-provoking, Deeper Questions to Resolve These Feelings   “What do you really want to say to your friends, family, and yourself?” “What do you need to forgive?” “What do you need at this moment to move forward?”     Remind Yourself of Who You Really Are   Create a “Badass” list. Write down all the things that you give yourself credit for and all the challenges that you overcame. Practice self-love.     Envision a Better Future   Reflect on the question: “What do you want to create?” These could be feelings, thoughts, or achievements.  Other helpful questions when planning your future could be: “What would a person who is successfully creating these things choose? What do you need to believe in order to achieve this vision?”     Create a Reset Plan for Yourself   Draw and redraw boundaries and prioritize self-care. I Focus on Solutions

Today we're on Pillar 5 of the 12 Prosperity Pillars, and the topic is I Focus On Solutions.  Many of us need solutions to some major problems that are happening in our life right now. Zig Ziglar said, “If you can dream it, you can achieve it.”   That's right! If you can dream it, you can achieve it, especially if you focus on solutions! Your Perception of Your Problems is the Key So today is all about shifting focus a little bit and we need to start talking about your perception and the way you look at situations.  Then we'll circle back around and talk about how to create and focus on solutions. Your perception of problems is really going to be a roadblock, or a sticking factor in keeping you from creating solutions. You really need to become aware of that because it's not the problem itself, it's the meaning that you attach to the problem. Let's say you're at a football game. There are always two different teams, there's always two different perspectives going on.  One play could be an unbelievable play for one person and a devastating play for another person. That's strictly because of the meaning that we attach to the situation…the play. So, step back for a moment and realize that the meanings you attach to situations are going to dictate where your mind is going to be.  And whether or not you're going to be productive at creating solutions! Another Key is to be Aware of Your View of Success vs. Failure Success versus failure is a really important topic for you to think about. If you're constantly focused on success, and failure is a bad thing to you, then you are 100% wrong.  ARTICLE You need to realize that failure takes you closer to your success.  When you begin to perceive failure as a stepping-stone to success, then you will not be stopped or held back from creating, acting and moving forward with your life.   Here is a Crazy thought…Problems Can be a Good Thing! Problems can be a good thing when you begin to view them differently.  Now you may be thinking, “George, how can problems be a good thing?” Here's how ... If we didn't have problems and we didn't have circumstances and we didn't have obstacles and trials … we would never learn to overcome them.  We would never grow!  Let that sink in a bit. If you don't lift heavy weights, you'll never stress your muscles enough for them to grow.  It's that stress and that recovery that is needed in order for you to go to the next level. Unsuccessful people want their problems to be smaller.  Successful people want to be bigger than their problems. What do you want to be in relation to your problems?? Make the Decision to Change How You Look At Things As you start to look back on the tapestry of your life, your perception changes.  In the specific moment, a situation may be completely overwhelming. But as time goes by and you look back on that situation, generally you're going to find that you grew, you learned, and you developed. So, if we can identify that our perception will change or dictate how we view a problem, that's a key step in being more and more successful. With a fresh Perspective you can Start From Solutions Now we can move on to how to create solutions?  One of my mentors told me that he always likes to start any conversation from solutions.  He always says, “I don't want to deal with the problem. I want to start from solution.” I think that's a great habit to take up! Thanks Jason Brown. I know it's hard to find solutions in the moment.  I understand it is tough. We all get overwhelmed and overcome with the difficulty that we're dealing with.  But you need to realize something that's really important:  you are not your mind; you are not your thoughts. You've got to Learn to Train Your Mind, just like any Tool. You can train your mind to be able to perceive things a certain way and lead you to solutions. Have you heard of the concept called neuroplasticity?  Most people think that as you get older, it's more and more difficult to create or change habits. Actually, science has proven through neuroplasticity that the pathways in your brain are hard wired based on repetition. So, if you start to train your mind to stop reacting, and start being proactive in looking for solutions, the more often you do that the more that habit will be an ingrained pattern into your mind.  The neurons that fire together wire together…it really works…trust me on this one. Focus on Solutions, and Start Focusing On Your Goals Start the process of reprogramming your mind by finding ways to interrupt that negative and old pattern you always fall into. The #1 way to do that is to focus on your goals.   When you have your goals, your dreams, affirmations and desires in front of you on a regular basis ... as a problem comes up, your dreams can be bigger than the obstacles in your life.  Vision creates clarity. REMIND YOURSELF:  Your goal to be bigger than the obstacles in your life Your Strategy Needs to be Focusing On Solutions So, to review: begin to look at how you perceive the problems and situations in your life. Then start to focus on the solutions. The mind that's overcome with all of the obstacles is not the mind that can help you create solutions. It's a mind that's focused on solutions that will take you far in life. So, here's your strategy to implement today: Find something in your life that is an obstacle or challenge. Write down a minimum of 10 possible solutions to that problem. It might be overwhelming to find 10 possible solutions, even if they're crazy ideas. But see what happens with your mind as you start to focus on solutions.  You'll find that simple things will come up that you may say to yourself, “Why didn't I think of that already?” You have greatness inside of you. I want you to remember that it's never too late for you to be begin living the life that you were meant to live.  Start by focusing on solutions.

Professor Maja Jovanovic: Sorry, Not Sorry; Stop Minimizing Yourself - R4R 195

The Running for Real Podcast

When you hear the word “greatness,” who do you associate it with?  A famous athlete?  An Oscar winning actor?  A parent or spouse? This word is often associated with other people, but never ourselves.  Why is that?  Professor Maja Jovanovic has a PhD. in Sociology and dedicated the past four years of her life to researching the reasons behind why we, specifically women, lack confidence and focus our attention on our personal faults as opposed to focusing on our strengths and abilities.     Remind Yourself of Your Greatness Think back on your life come up with a list of 10 things you have done that you are proud of.  As you ponder on this, these moments should come quick.  You should know what you have done and what you are proud of.  However, women struggle to compose this list.  They tend to think, “Is this ‘thing’ good enough?  Of course it is!  When we think of things we have accomplished that we are proud of we always tend to think too big.  It is important to recognize the smaller things we achieve each day while on our journey to achieving the great things.  Constantly be reminding yourself of these little victories. Far too often we tend to break down what we do into two categories: Total success or utter failure. For example: it is your child’s birthday party and she has asked for an ice cream cake.  You go to the store and you buy what you believe is an ice cream cake.  The birthday party has been a total success and she has had a great time with her friends.  As you cut the cake you realize it is not ice cream, but chocolate inside.  Your daughter does not notice but you do.  Now in your mind, as opposed to focusing on the overall success of the birthday party, you chose to focus on the one mess up. Any number of simple example like the one above can cause us to feel bad and lose confidence in our self.  Why is it that we focus so much on negative experiences as opposed to glory in the positive experiences?  One way we can build confidence and focus on the good we have done as opposed to ruminating in the bad is to schedule a small amount of time for conduct a Worry Dump.  A worry dump is a time set aside throughout your week where you allow yourself to focus on the negative.  Think about the mistakes you have made, the bad things that you have done, or the moments where you were unsuccessful.  Schedule one hour sometime throughout the week to give attention to these things and then don’t think about them again until your next worry dump. When you cease to focus on the negative aspects on your life and begin to give yourself credit for all of the amazing things you are doing, you will become a more confident person and begin to understand your incredible value and self-worth.  It’s ok to remind yourself that you are great! Stop Saying Sorry and Using Minimizing Phrases Have you ever received a text that you did not respond to immediately?  When you finally did reply you more than likely responded with something like this: “Sorry, I was at work and was unable to respond to your message, but I am good, how are you doing?”  Why did you apologize for being at work and giving focus to your job?  You do not need to apologize for these things. So many apologies are unnecessary.  When we apologize, we believe we are being perceived as kind or polite; however, when the apology is not necessary, it has the opposite effect.  This is not to say that we stop saying sorry all the time.  When an apology is needed and is used correctly, then it becomes empowering.  Real apologies should make you feel good afterwards.  But, if we find ourselves constantly apologizing for mundane things that require no apology, then it can become exhausting and deflating. While some apologies are superfluous, so are many minimizing phrases that we use on a daily basis.  Imagine you are in a meeting at work and you have something to say to the group.  How often have you found yourself using one of the following phrases: “I might be wrong on this but,” “I have a little idea,” “I’m working on a side project,” or “I’m not a total expert.”  We tend to use these types of phrases because we fear coming across too strongly or believe that we may be misperceived as aggressive or cold. It is ok to be confident in your abilities.  Be confident in yourself and don’t downplay thoughts or comments you might have.  Being confident is something that doesn’t just appear overnight; it is a muscle that strengthens with use.  Constantly apologizing and using minimizing phrases are ways that we are sabotaging our own confidence.  We are Olympians in discounting the positives in our life.  Present your ideas! Speak up when in groups!  And realize that your thoughts and ideas are worth just as much as anyone else. Be Selfish As women, where does a majority of our energy go?  More than likely it is to the care of others. Recognize that sometimes, it is ok to be selfish.  We have to take care of ourselves.  Professor Jovanovic’s research has shown women can be so focused on being selfless that they can feel drained and exhausted.  We live in a culture that is constantly reminding women of their need to take care of other people that sometimes women forget to take time to focus on themselves.  Make time to do the things that you enjoy and that will be beneficial to your mental, emotional, and physical health. Failure is Information When we hear the word failure, we tend to always associate it with something negative.  However, what if we took the concept of failure and turned it into a learning experience, which provided us with information that helped us in the future?  We are not perfect.  We will all fail multiple times in our lives.  But, when we step out of our comfort zone and we aren’t scared to fail, we will develop a grown mindset.  Recognize that mistakes are useful and that each mistake we make provides us with an opportunity to learn. Lastly, remember that failure does not mean you cannot do something.  It just means you cannot do something YET.  If we cannot do something automatically, we think we cannot do it and that mindset prevents us from trying it again.  For example: Imagine your are teaching your child to read.  The child becomes frustrated thinking they will never be able to advance to the reading level other classmates are reading at.  Each night you have the child read a book and after fifteen books she is now reading at the level she thought she could not achieve.  After they have achieved this level of reading, remind them of what they did to achieve it.  Show them all the books they read to reach that goal.  It is important to be reminded of the small steps we took to achieve the goals we didn’t think we would reach. Remember that you are great!  Get off the apology train, interrupt the negative self-talk, and recognize your self-worth.  If someone offers you a compliment, don’t be afraid to accept it!  Say thank you and be proud of who you are.  When was the last time someone commented on how great your hair was?  Was your response: My hair is so gross I haven’t washed it in like 3 days.  Or was it:  Thank you so much, I appreciate that!  Become comfortable with yourself, your abilities, and the role you play in your own success! Heey! Мы знаем, что сейчас у многих может развиться самокритика. Важно оставаться в балансе с самим собой, поэтому в новом выпуске Катя расскажет, как быть добрее к себе. В описании вы всегда можете найти все скрипты на английском и русском! Enjoy! Scripts: how to be kind to yourself - как быть добрее к себе I remind myself to be kind to myself, and as slightly ridiculous as it may sound, to treat myself in the same gentle way I’d want to treat a daughter of mine. It really helps. = Я напоминаю себе, что мне нужно быть доброй по отношению к себе, и, пусть это прозвучит немного нелепо, относиться к себе так же мягко, как я хочу относиться к своей дочери. Это действительно помогает. I believe that people who have anxiety and depression are very, very sensitive and very, very smart. = Я верю, что люди, страдающие от тревоги и депрессии, очень чувствительные и очень умные. There have been times I have stood in my closet and just cried. = Были времена, когда я стояла у своего шкафа и просто плакала. I hated getting dressed. Didn’t feel good! It takes so much for me to look decent. = Я ненавидела одеваться. Я не чувствовала себя хорошо. У меня уходит столько усилий, чтобы выглядеть прилично. It only took 45 years to find myself. = У меня ушло всего лишь 45 лет, чтобы найти себя. Right where I am supposed to be. = Прямо там, где я и должна быть. And it’s not perfect. But it’s me. = И я не идеальна, но это я. Cultivate Your Inner Advocate. = Выращивайте своего внутреннего адвоката. Remind Yourself of Your Good Qualities. = Напоминайте себе о ваших хороших качествах. Show Yourself Compassion. =Проявите к себе сочувствие. What would you say to him? = Чтобы вы ему сказали? How would you reassure him? = Как бы вы его успокоили? How would you make him feel cared for and loved? = Как бы вы помогли ему почувствовать, что о нем заботятся и любят? ××× MAXIMUM English у тебя в кармане Наш сайт: eng.maximumtest.ru/ ТikTok: vm.tiktok.com/Ldktpw/ Instagram: instagram.com/maximumenglish Блог: blog.maximumtest.ru/post/moti...... #maximumeng_podcast

QuickFit Club is back up with new workouts and ready for a new you!A note about QuickFit Club sign ups....we are still in the beta stage, so all memberships are trial basis, 30 days, but realistically probably longer (60 days) to get all the bugs out before it goes 100% members only.If you already had a trial membership, you'll be able to sign in with your previous name (or email) and password combo, but you won't be able to access "member" content because you will need to "renew" by selecting the trial membership (yes, again, but this enables you to maintain your previous login name). Once done, you can access member home and all the workouts.Note: you may have to clear history or cache to refresh the new Quickfit Club site! NEW!  You'll also find QuickFit Tips Videos on the site as well as the GetFitTV Youtube channel!  While on Youtube, check out the StrongandPowerfulNow channel that supports the new StrongandPowerful site and campaigns. Be sure to like and subscribe to both!TRAINING:  Fact VS Fiction!Fact: Squats are an excellent exercise.Everyone does a form of squat multiple times a day! Sitting in a chair, on a toilet, standing up from both, those are all squats! You work the whole body when doing squats whether you go low or not. Studies confirm squatting has major functional benefits: better mobility, faster walking speed, bone strength, stronger core, and in sports: faster running speed and greater vertical jump.Lie: Squats are dangerous and will damage the knees and spine. Lie! Squats are not dangerous if you do them correctly. Remember, you actually do them everyday already! Squatting is a natural motion performed by our ancestors on a regular basis. Again studies back this up and show squats can strengthen the entire thigh and hip areas and can help prevent knee pain and dysfunction.Depending on your fitness history and training level, you may need to start with variations.  Your goal would be to go as low as possible with correct form. Proper form means that your heel stay on the ground the entire time! Get a trainer to help check if your form is optimal.Fact: Sitting all day is extremely bad for you.Research showed that people who sit for more than 6 hours a day have greater risk of kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and premature death. So take a break, get up and walk around!Lie: Regular workouts counter the damages of sitting all day. Nope, not true! Research shows two key points when it comes to sedentary jobs: 1) "Within a population that exercises at a vigorous intensity a few days a week, the amount of time spent being inactive is dramatic and not significantly lessened by regular workouts.2) In just 20 minutes of sitting, your blood sugar and insulin can get out of whack. A little longer and oxygen saturation of the muscles drops and gene activity decreases, which directly influences protein synthesis and the clearance of waste from cells."Get moving! Especially if you have a seated job!NUTRITION Dealing with Carb Cravings Part 2It's not always food that causes you to crave carbs! Here's two more ways your body can force you to crave carbs: Lack of sleep Lack of sleep increases desire for high carbs, boosting overall calorie intake. It also reduces your will power and breaks down any defenses you have in place to prevent carb cravings.Studies show people feel more hungry and make poor food choices when they are tired! Adding up to as much as an extra 300 calories a day or more!Plus, your blood sugar levels get out of whack too! Insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance drop when  you are sleep deprived, causing your body to shift (or stays) in fat storage mode.Be honest about what you eatIt's not always a matter of willpower! Sometimes you really eat more than you think!  Keep a true food journal that you can review and analyze. You always learn more when it is written on paper! You may  be surprised at your numbers, but especially your carb intake. Don’t feel ashamed or guilty! Use this info to fix dietary problems. Identify low-glycemic carbs that are acceptable substitutes for higher carb foods and determine which foods help with your craving and which may cause the cravings.MOTIVATIONTips to get on the right track! #1 Remind Yourself of the Things For Which You Are Grateful! Pu things in perspective! Sure life could be better, it could also be worse! Find a few things each day that you are grateful for and accept them! Regular daily stress, problems and disasters don't seem so bad when you remind yourself of the things that are right in your life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference!#2 Eliminate Automatic Negative Thoughts!Squash the "ANTs" In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!"  When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!Get all the most recent episodes on iTunes or download this episode here:Fit 241: How to Deal with Negative Thoughts, Eliminate Carb Cravings & Training Myths Part 2 Now available in paperback: "Mindset Makeover," available at The Book Patch.com. Hypnosis | Hypnotherapy | Life Coaching | Meditations and Self Help by Paula Sweet

This is session number 135 of the Absolute Mind podcast and this was a request. You know who you are so thank you and I really do hope you receive value from it. This show is all about recovering from a break up with your partner. Weight Loss Offer Some Ideas of How To Get Over a Break-Up 1. Remind Yourself of Everything and Be Real It's very easy to think back to an old relationship and only thing of all of the amazing times. This is catastrophizing thinking and only leads one way.... To feeling worse. Be honest about the good of course and be pleased about it, but also remember the bad and the downright ugly and embarrassing. 2. Allow Yourself Some Time and Space When you think about all of the emotions that come up after a relationship breakdown. You really need to bear in mind that this will take some time to recover. Give yourself some breathing space, your brain will be going over thinking about things like the frustration, the anger to hurt or the pain.  all of these are not helpful in any way, but they will present themselves in the early days the time and space really are your friend. People work through emotions in various different ways, but one thing is sure in the early days the feelings are most present will be sadness and upset. Expect this, but don't beat yourself up about it an important fact to understand about this grieving process for an ex is that as each day passes, those feelings will begin to subside and you will begin to feel better. 3. Time for You Relationships mean that two people come together in some way. Now there must be a benefit in being on your own and finding yourself once more! What I'm suggesting here is that there is time to rediscover yourself, and find the you that you really are. Relationships are all about finding a happy medium, and doing what's right for you, your partner and overall the relationship. when you not bound by these restrictions you can really begin to find the true you. You may be fortunate enough that the true you is the one you see every morning in the mirror now. But in most cases, people hold back in certain ways and don't find their true self when they're in a relationship. So spend some time to find the true, real you. 4. Time for You Time for Change We are creatures of habit, this is one of the problems where the relationship breaks down because a part of our habits and our routine suddenly disappears. The phone doesn't ring when it used to, the texts don't ping at lunchtime and life changes cried dramatically. This sudden change in circumstance and situation means that your life does change, but if the breakdown was not your choice, then it can feel like your life is falling apart around you. So it's time to take charge, spend some time doing things that you wouldn't normally do, or didn't used to have the time to do. They could be things like salsa dancing going to the gym learning a new skill. Now don't see these as ways to distract yourself, is more like ways to improve and become a better version of yourself, because you're actively using your time as you choose to. 5. Questions Are The Answer The quality fo your questions defines the quality of your feelings. Beware of faulty questions loops. Why Me? Who will they go out with now? Will they be better? Change those types of questions to: Why am I better because of that relationship? What have I learned about myself? What changes do I want to make in my next relationship?
