October 18, 1977 With the Yankees up three games to two against the Dodgers, Reggie Jackson seizes control of the game, the series, and is crowned "Mr. October" when he hits three consecutive home runs in Game Six of the World Series. Jackson hit a two-run homer in the fourth on the first pitch he saw from starter Burt Hooton to give the Yankees the lead. Lou Piniella made it 5–3 by adding a sacrifice fly. Once again, in the fifth with a man on Jackson connected on the first pitch off Elias Sosa to make the score 7–3. Finally, in the eighth, Jackson strode to the plate, amid chants of "REG-GIE, REG-GIE, REG-GIE!", and drove the first Charlie Hough knuckleball he saw 475 feet into the stands. An inning later, Jackson had led the Yankees to an 8 - 4 victory and the World Championship over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He became only the second player in history to smash three home runs in a single Series game. In addition, five home runs in one Series and four consecutive blasts over a two game period in the Series were also unprecedented. October 18 2004 – Game 5 of the ALCS opens in Fenway Park with the Yankees leading the Series 3-1. After 8 innings, the game was tied at 4 and would remain knotted there till the 14th inning. Yankee Pitcher Esteban Loiza walks both Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez, bringing Ortiz up with two outs. The previous night's hero did his job again. Singling to center on the 10th pitch of the at-bat to bring home Damon, Ortiz set off celebratory chants of “Who's Your Papi?”. After five hours, 49 minutes and 471 pitches, the Boston Red Sox outlasted the Yankees 5 – 4. Ortiz became the first player in history to hit two walk-off home runs during the postseason, and ended the longest game in ALCS history at 1:22 a.m. Mentioned in this episode:Join us!Join our weekly news letter, member community and family of Podcasts @ members.thisdayinbaseball.com

For their Q1 2024, Nestlé announced a notable start with an organic sales increase of 1.4%. The company's CEO, Mark Schneider, mentioned on their earnings call that they expect moderate positive pricing for the year 2024 on a Group consolidated basis. This raise is mainly attributed to contributions from Europe and emerging markets, complemented by a price elevation of 3.4%. However, it's worthwhile to consider the marginal decrement experienced by Real Internal Growth (RIG), which fell by 2.0%.Looking at the specifics of their 2024 strategy, the company envisions an organic sales expansion proximate to 4% and some degree of growth in its trading operating profit margin. To this end, Nestlé has highlighted their PetCare and Confectionery sectors as major components of growth. Both sectors have signaled growth, and there has been satisfactory progress in the Coffee segment. Singling out their investment in Billionaire brands, which oversee more than 70% of the Group sales, Nestle acknowledges this as a key factor in gaining market share in 2024's first quarter.During their Q1 earnings call, Nestlé identified certain consumer trends. There seems to be an escalating interest in premium products, a trend particularly strong in the US market, along with a growing appetite for healthier alternatives. Evolving consumer preferences necessitate science-based solutions tailored for specific pet needs and a discernible preference for cold beverages among younger customers.Adding to this, Schneider commented on the company's position in the American market, in light of a shift towards private label brands: "And we've seen some private label, but not overly so because we have a big share in America on the lower-end brands as well. So, to a great extent, we benefited when people were trading down… And we are cognizant that with improved purchasing power here going forward, we'll see, on balance, a positive trend again for the remainder of the year."Looking to the future, the company aims to bolster its advertising and marketing strategies to reignite RIG and amplify its market footprint. Nestlé's development centerpiece for the upcoming period includes sectors such as Frozen Food, PetCare, Nestlé Health Science, and Coffee. Additionally, the company acknowledges the necessity of handling regulatory challenges related to mineral water, approaching this with reformation initiatives and constructive engagement with regulators. In conclusion, while Nestlé envisions various scopes of expansion and has a robust plan set for the coming period, it is crucial to note these predictions are based on the prevailing market scenario, which could change. Nevertheless, with their understanding of the current trends combined with strategic planning, Nestlé stands ready to meet challenges and seize potential opportunities as they continue their journey in 2024. In a Denver Gazette op-ed entirled 'How Dick Wadhams and the establishment screw the GOP,' Rep. Ken DeGraaf (R-22, El Paso) fires a shot across the bow of the former Colorado Republican Party chair. Wadhams was all too eager to respond, staying for three segments on the program to refute every criticism directed at him. The gloves come off when Dick drops the bombshell allegation that current state GOP chair Dave Williams was behind the entire hit piece. Also, a surprise candidate may be entering the race to primary Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) in Colorado's 4th Congressional District.

Ulv stumbled through the snow covered trees. He'd been stripped of his weapons and shirt and was given a pouch of herbs to crush and smoke when he felt the time was right. Apparently, they were supposed to give him some sort of vision about what his test was. “This is the craziest thing I've ever done,” Ulv grumbled to himself amid strides through the knee deep snow. He needed to find shelter soon. There was no way he'd survive if he didn't get out of the blowing wind and snow. As if in answer to his mental request, he spotted a cave up the slope of the hill he was climbing. The cave was almost covered with snow, but had an opening large enough for Ulv to enter. The interior was cold, but less so than the freezing forest outside. It was dark, but some light reflected in from the outside snow. Ulv made his way as deep in as he dared without a torch. The cave was much deeper than he'd anticipated. That meant more warmth but less light. So what would you like to do?IntroOne important thing you'll want to remember is that for the most part, these questions work when asked to specific individuals. Singling them out can help to get a better response from some of the more unresponsive players. Just make sure that the question is set up the right way. In fact, before we begin with the actual questions, let's talk about a few requirements for a good NPC roleplaying-prompt question.PurposefulYou can't just ask random questions and expect that every question results in better or more roleplaying. For each question, you need to have a specific purpose. Maybe you ask an open ended question to allow the player more freedom and creativity. Or maybe you ask a very specific question designed to get the player to actually respond.Player directedThe best questions are focused on specific players. If you ask questions directed at the party, it is very likely that the person who is most used to roleplaying will respond. Getting a player to respond who rarely roleplays requires direct questions. That's not to say that every single question needs to be focused on stimulating roleplaying. Some questions are just for the sake of the story. Now with those two question requirements in mind, let's get to the actual questions of today's show. What do You Think? When directed at a specific player, “What do you think?” can be a very powerful tool to help re-engage a player who may have lost focus, or just help jumpstart the party into helping everything collaborate. I've used this with ally NPCs or even some NPCs that are slightly adversarial, though I haven't ever used this question from the standpoint of a complete villain. I haven't really found a scenario where that makes sense. Simply ask this question using the character's name and voila! They have to respond with at least something. Even if they say, I have no idea, they've at least said something! That is a win in my book. What's Your Story?I find this question works the best when it's an NPC that is somewhat neutral to the party, like a shopkeeper or something. Naturally, the party will look different compared to the normal customers (usually), so a shopkeeper could take interest in the party, if only to hear a new story. You can also use this question from the point of view of an NPC traveling with the party. The only drawback with that is once the question has been answered, that's it. If it didn't lead to more roleplaying, you can't really ask it again from the same NPC.That's a nice piece of equipment, where'd you get it?This question is very similar to the previous question. From the point of view of NPCs, most of the equipment that our adventurers have is really nice and shiny. Normal folk rarely have opportunities to encounter the types of magical items that
It's Wednesday, January 4th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Nigerian Muslims kidnapped 53 Christians, killed one on Christmas Fulani Muslim herdsmen in Nigeria, Africa and other terrorists killed one Christian and kidnapped 53 more on Christmas Day in southern Kaduna state. This comes after militants killed 40 believers in the week leading up to Christmas. One local resident said, “Mass graves litter the community and the countryside. Our people can no longer go to their farms for fear of being gunned down or macheted. Lamentably, the Fulani terrorist attacks have continued unabated as they are heard chanting, ‘Allah Akbar [Allah, the moon god, is greater]' during the killing and destructive expeditions.” Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in Nigeria. GOP conservatives reject Kevin McCarthy for House Speaker The House adjourned without a speaker on Tuesday for the first time in a century after Republican Congressman Kevin McCarthy of California failed in a third straight vote for the gavel, reports Politico.com. It comes after 19 Republican conservatives derailed McCarthy's first and second vote to become Speaker, throwing the party further into chaos on their first day in the majority. Twenty House Republicans threw their support behind GOP Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, who has repeatedly said he does not want the gavel, which sunk McCarthy's bid to take the position on the opening day of Congress. In fact, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz of Florida slammed Kevin McCarthy as he nominated Jim Jordan. Listen. GAETZ: “Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone – [McCarthy] -- who wants it so bad. Maybe the right person for the job of Speaker of the House isn't someone who has sold shares of themselves for more than a decade to get it. (surprised reaction) Maybe Jim Jordan is the right person for Speaker of the House because he is not beholden to the lobbyists and special interests who have corrupted this place and corrupted this nation under the leadership of both Republicans and Democrats. “Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right person for Speaker of the House because he wouldn't fight us when we try to get a term limits bill on the floor. Maybe Jim Jordan would be the right person because he wouldn't fight us when we try to put a balanced budget on the floor and vote for it. And maybe Jim Jordan is the right person because he would endorse the plan that was built by the Texas delegation to finally secure our border.” McCarthy, who can only afford to lose four votes out of the 222 Republican members, is facing an uphill battle to take over the gavel from Nancy Pelosi. Before the vote, Gaetz said, "Those of us who will not be voting for Kevin McCarthy today take no joy in this discomfort that this moment has brought. But if you want to drain the swamp, you cannot put the biggest alligator in charge of the exercise. I'm a Florida man and I know of what I speak.” New York judge allows people to pack heat at church Last Thursday, a U.S. federal judge temporarily blocked a New York State law that prohibits people from carrying firearms in houses of worship. Pastor Michael Spencer of His Tabernacle Family Church is challenging the law and is represented by First Liberty Institute. Ryan Gardner with First Liberty said, “Singling out houses of worship for total disarmament demonstrates hostility toward religion, leaves them defenseless to rebuff violent attacks, sticks the state's nose into how religious services are conducted, and defies at least two recent Supreme Court rulings against New York.” Sean Feucht vs. Antifa at defaced San Diego church Antifa members defaced City View Church's building in San Diego, California last week. The church was planning on holding a New Year's Eve worship service led by Christian singer Sean Feucht. Police are investigating the attack as a hate crime. The far-left activists spray painted profanities and threats on the church building. According to a video of one tweet, Feucht told ChurchLeaders.com, “The church isn't a building. We're the bride of Christ and in 2023 we're rising up like never before.” FEUCHT: “Rejoice and be glad. So, that's what we're going to do in San Diego tonight. We've been persecuted. All kinds of crazy stuff has been said. This church has been vandalized. But you know what? Tonight, you're going to see a resilient church. This is a prophetic night for what God is doing in 2023. You're going to see a church rising up in boldness, rising up in courage.” Matthew 5:10-12 says, “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Court upholds school's right to restrict bathrooms to biological sex Last Friday, the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Florida school district's anti-transgender policy. The St. Johns County School Board has a bathroom policy that distinguishes students based on biological sex. A female student pretending to be a boy sued the school over the policy. The ruling noted, “The school board's bathroom policy is clearly related to — indeed, is almost a mirror of — its objective of protecting the privacy interests of students to use the bathroom away from the opposite sex and to shield their bodies from the opposite sex in the bathroom.” Wall Street's worst year since 2008 And finally, Wall Street ended its worst year since 2008 last Friday. All three major stock indices reported painful losses. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down nearly 8% for 2022. The S&P 500 dropped nearly 20%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell over 30%. Media and tech companies recorded some of the biggest losses. The Walt Disney Company, Netflix, Comcast and other media groups lost over half a trillion dollars in market value last year. Disney stock, in particular, dropped 45% as the company continues to support sexually perverted lifestyles. Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Wednesday, January 4th in the year of our Lord 2023. Mexico City! Unbelievable and amazing, and a wonderful win by Niners who are back home for a 3-game home stand. They head into week 12 at 6-4 with a 3-game win streak. Now the 4th overall seed in NFC and #1 in the West. Yes, it's still early and lot of ball to play but sitting good and just need to take care of business. Which this week is the 4-7 Saints. Who can forget the 2019 game with them in New Orleans that was a back-and-forth slug fest with Niners coming out in the end to win 48-46. Incredible game and so much fun. This time Niners picked by 9 and we all hope it is more like last week with another beatdown. This week we have a great show with MVP Clinical Director Suzi Landolphi. We have wanted to have Suzi on the show for a while but thought this week was most appropriate with the holidays upon us, which can be wonderful for many. But they can also be sad, difficult , and triggering for others. With our focus on mental health we wanted to talk about why the holidays can be so difficult and offer some practical suggestions that can help us through. We talk Suzi's up bringing and the lessons learned from her family, as well as the “legacy trauma” handed down to her by her family (which most of us have to some degree). We work through her many transitions (she is a “builder/creator' rather than a “maintainer”), including sex educator and family therapist (being sued by Jerry Fallwell for speaking in high schools about safe and “hotter sex” and how that case made it to the Supreme Court and eventually opened the door for sex education in public schools. We move through her transitions into Horse Equine Healing (getting trained and buying a ranch), her work in recovery and shifting the conversation from what's wrong/broken with people to what has happened to us. Helping people realize that “We all get to heal, choose what happens now, and create the person we deserve to be and life we deserve to live.” A theme that fits right in with mindfulness, the notion of separation from our thoughts and emotions (thoughts are just thoughts and emotions just emotions – they are not us and do not define us). Staying curious and examining our feelings/thoughts, and then CHOOSING how we want to show up in life.We close out looking at her work with veterans, creating the Warrior PATHH program (focusing on Post Traumatic GROWTH), and then eventually starting her work with MVP, and her new podcast “Be Crazy Well.” Many great insights in this one on healthy living, setting boundaries, reclaiming control over your life, and how to survive the holidays with family (WALK!).Two thoughts as we close out. First, in this holiday season let us be kind to each other and with intention decide who you will see, for how long, and what those interactions will be like. Reminder to check in on whose rules you are following and if it is an old one given to you by someone from your past, get rid of it if in no longer serves you. And ask for help if you need it. Second, we offer our support and deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community of those brutally shot down in Colorado at The Q nightclub, another mindless attack on the LGBTQ community. Singling people out on the basis of their sexual or gender orientation must stop. We stand proudly with the LGBTQ community and will do all we can to support them and the freedom to live in peace and without violence or oppression. We must stop hate. Happy holidays. Kids weight loss secrets - overweight children & childhood obesity
7 things that will keep your child from getting on board with healthy living or losing weight and how to approach it differently: Trying to convince your child why it's important! It's not only about the child who needs to lose weight, it's about the entire family change. Singling out or expecting the child to do things you or others are not doing is unfair. Your child may believe that they can't do it if you are inconsistent in the changes you start making at home; whenever you stop, they will think they have failed. Putting a child on a diet that they won't be able to maintain long-term! In your efforts to get your child healthy, you can't become emotionally involved. Try new foods, and invite them to exercise with you. The more you worry about your child's response, the more stressed your child will be. It's not about losing weight, it's about losing bad habits. Dr. Deming listed 7 Deadly Diseases of Management in Out of the Crisis, and one of the more surprising is #3: Evaluation of performance, merit rating, or annual review. In this episode, David and Andrew discuss the harmful practice of awarding "teacher of the year," "student of the month," or other traditional recognition practices. David also offers practical suggestions for alternatives. TRANSCRIPT Stotz: My name is Andrew Stotz, and I'll be your host as we continue our journey into the teachings of Dr. W Edwards Deming. Today, I'm continuing my discussion with David P. Langford, who has devoted his life to applying Dr. Deming's philosophy to education, and he offers us his practical advice for implementation. Today's topic is the deadly disease of having an employee of the month. David, take it away. Langford: Yeah, this is actually one of my favorite topics. So I thought it'd be fun for us to talk about it today. So… Stotz: You just may win employee of the month by, coming up with this. Huh? Langford: There you go. So right away, if you don't understand any teachings about Dr. Deming or background or things like that, you might be saying what do you mean? And maybe, maybe you were employee of the month one month or teacher of the year or student of the month or whatever we wanna think about in terms of singling people out. So what's wrong with that? And how could that be a deadly disease? Well, in one of the previous podcasts, we were talking about special and common cause variation. And we kind of went through that and talked a little bit about what Deming called deadly diseases. And he just said that there's two deadly diseases; treating special cause variation as if it's common, and treating common cause variation as if it's special. Langford: So why is having employee of the month a deadly disease? Because it falls into category number two, you're taking common cause variation in the system and treating it as if it's special. And it happens everywhere. It happens in the military, it happens in schools and we've been sold a bill of goods years ago in management. And it's become pervasive in the way people think about what to do. So a manager doesn't know what to, what to do to motivate their people. And they think their job is to motivate people. So they say, wow, we'll have a teacher of the year or we'll have employee of the month or employee of the week. And that ought, that ought to have fixed things, right? Stotz: Student of the week, student of the month. Langford: Student of the week, make people happier. So I'll never forget, when my, one of my daughters was in third grade and she came home and she had a certificate as a student of the month. And, I looked at it and cuz she brought it up to me and showed it and she was somewhat proud, proud of it. And I looked at it and then I did, I was thinking, how do I handle this? Because I know the problems that psychologically these things can cause and bullying and all kinds of things that can result from it. And so I looked at the certificate and I looked at her and I said, well, honey, tell me this. So what did you do this month? That was especially great, that sort of singled you out overall the rest of the losers in the class. So and she looked at me and she looked at the certificate, she did that a couple times and then she got this big grin on her face. And then she looked up at me and she said, dad, you know it was my turn. Stotz: We have 360 students, 365 students in the class and they give it every day. So we all get it at some point, Dad. Langford: Yeah. So, yeah. So in third grade she saw through this, she knew it's, this is just this silly game, dreamed up by the people who are running the place. and even as a student is, is if you figure out that this is, this is nuts, can you do anything about it? Well, not without becoming insubordinate or sent to the principal's office or… right? There's obviously something wrong with you if you've pointed out a problem with the system about, how they're managing everybody in the system. Instead, we should be saying, ‘Hey, well, tell me more about that. Why, you know what, what's the problem with that?' And student a month, can you be student of the month, nine months in a row? Stotz: Yeah, that was what I was gonna say. Cuz you could also have an abuse, one abuse of it is just to kind of randomly go through students. Another abuse is constantly giving it to one person. Langford: Yeah. I always ask people that don't believe that they're doing anything wrong or damaging to children with these kinds of things that they'll say, oh, well, you know I can judge or I can, pick out who's who's best or whatever. Well again, can you be student of the month nine months in a row? And I've done this for 40 years now and I've never had a teacher say, ‘well yes,' but statistically the answer is yes if you have a student that actually is exceptional and deserving of being pointed out to other people as, as the top student, well, they probably just don't do that one month out of nine. Right? They're probably working like that or being like that all the time. And you're not actually helping them sort of cope with the situation when you're singling them out above everybody else and then pointing to them as the model. Stotz: So, and if we go back to the basics and we think about that goodhearted teacher or administrator who's thought, ‘Hey, I wanna bring recognition. I want to, I want people to feel better about, things and so Hey, employee of a month, what a great idea.' They're coming from a good intention, but you know… Tell us more about that. Langford: Dr. Deming said we are being killed by good intentions. And, that's exactly right. And he often talked about too, sometimes the best thing to do is nothing. If you, if you don't really understand what it is you're doing and the effects of it, and maybe you're just doing what was done to you, passed down from one generation to the next, etcetera, etcetera, and you don't really understand what it is you're doing, you'd be much better off just to do nothing. Do none of those things. It's always fascinating to me, schools that have a lot of bullying also have a lot, lot of this singling people out and pointing them out as either on the top end or the low end of the system, etcetera. And then what happens after school? Well, I'll show you student of the month. It kind of reminds me of that bumper sticker. Langford: There's bumper stickers that say my, my student was student of the month at such and such elementary, etcetera. And then there's the bumper stickers that say my student beat up the student of the month or beat up your student. I've seen those where people are, they're proud of of that, or they think it's funny or whatever it might be. This is tampering, with society and with the systems and management and people's feelings and all kinds of things. And it has long lasting effects that we have no idea what we've done to students 60, 70 years later. My own mother who died at 86, she often would tell a story about, that she really loved to draw and etcetera, etcetera. And then she got into an elementary classroom and they were in an art class and they were supposed to draw something. Langford: And, teacher chose only the best drawings to put on the wall. And these, these are the best drawings. From that point on, she decided she couldn't draw. And for the next 80 years, she would not ever even attempt a stick figure or anything because of that one small instance where we, when to hold somebody up and say here, why can't you be like this person? And it's very damaging. So what, what to do instead, right? Yeah. What are we doing instead? So let's say that you're in a classroom and you do have somebody doing some something exemplary, whether that's writing a paper, making a drawing, performing on a musical instrument or whatever it might be. And, instead of pointing them out and giving them some kind of an award or student of the month award or whatever it might, one thing that you could do is honor them by allowing them to share what it is they've done. Langford: I got this idea actually from Dr. Deming, but Hey, here's something really exemplary. And the way I would approach it is I would come back to that student and say, I really like what you've done here. This is, this is really amazing. Would you be willing to share with everybody else in the class, how you did this? How did you work this through? Now, that's much different than me coming in and saying, oh, this is the student of the week. And I'm so I'm so proud of Johnny and da, da, da, da, and all the rest of the students in the class look at that and say, well, obviously he's brown nosing the teacher and or they come up with some kind of a reason about why you're doing that. Totally different if I say, Hey, in this last project, there were several really interesting projects and I've asked a couple people if they'd share what they did and how they did it and how they worked that through. And they've agreed to share that. And so maybe they read their short story or whatever, but then we're gonna ask them, well, how did you do that? How did you think that through and how did you create the plot and what did you do to do that? Well, when you're honoring somebody in that way, the rest of the people in the class are sitting there listening to that, and they're thinking, ‘oh, oh, that's how they did that.' Right? It's not just saying, oh, you're, you're just, you're just an innate great person. Right? You actually did something that enabled you to do something great. Langford: And so other people in the class could start to say, 'oh, I could do that.' And it's an amazing thing. Like in elementary schools, something so simple as a student says, well, the way I did this is I found a place at home that was quiet and I made sure I went there every day and worked on this paper in that quiet place. Well, we could now take that special cause, right? And we could transfer that common cause. And we got a discussion in a class, Hey, everybody in the class, think of some quiet place that you could work, or you could do something. I remember one elementary school, there was one, one child that consistently kept doing really well. And they said, well, how do you do this? And he said, well, I got a desk at home. And it was a very, very poor school. And, kids were coming from very, very poor families, etcetera. And teacher found out that almost only one child out of 30 had actually had a desk of their own at school. So she started asking the students, what can we do about this? And students came up with, I thought was an ingenious idea. And they got old cardboard boxes and they all created their own desks. Langford: And that became a class project. And everybody took their own desk home and was information that goes home to the parents that says, Hey, it's really great. If your child spends some time at their desk each night when they're doing their homework or getting caught up on things or what they're working through. So special causes are not always bad. Sometimes they can teach us things that can be applied to the entire system that can make a big difference. Stotz: And, so what I wanna understand now, let's just imagine that, okay, we start to kind of celebrate something about a student. I have a student of mine in my ethics class that I teach and that guy did a picture of the whole class on one big piece of paper and he laminated and he gave it to me. And it's just amazing. Now it's not the way I think, cuz I think more linearly, but he really liked pictures. But for the people in the class and others that I've shown it to, it really helped them kind of pull it all together. So that was, sharing, trying to get him to share, what he's doing. Langford: But it's not just what, what he did it has to be how he did it. Right? That's what you have to get them to share. Otherwise it comes off as an award. I'm awarding this person because I'm gonna, I'm gonna get, have them come up and share that they did this great thing. Well, the thing is great and I'm sure everybody in the class could see, wow, that's, that's really awesome. But if you want to transfer that to other people doing great stuff, they have to have kind of some insight about ‘how did you do that?' And would you be able, willing to sort of teach side class on how to do this for other people that might wanna do this? Langford: I think that's, that's a fantastic honor. You're still honoring that individual and rewarding them in a way. If you wanna think of it that way, because think what you've done, you've taken the class time of everybody to allow this one individual to share something. Well, that's a great honor. It's a huge honor within that. But as a teacher, you want a large number of the other students to start to be able to do these kinds of things, right? You'd like to see the same level of development, same level of capability, with a lot of other people. So you have to think about, well, how are we gonna get there? Well, one way to get there is to have these students explain it. Stotz: And you can imagine an employee of the month. I know how it goes. in companies that people are like, 'oh my God, tomorrow's the deadline for employee of the month? Who should we do?' Langford: ‘We gotta, we gotta cram for employee the month.' Stotz: Yeah so the point is, is that, a lot of times just like performance reviews, it's just some mad rush at the end. Is what you're saying that instead of doing an employee of the month type of reward, that what we should be doing is incorporating that in our daily life, instead of saying, incorporating, seeing things that are happening that are valuable for the whole group and bringing that to light on a regular basis, rather than setting on every month, we're gonna do this or something like that. How would you describe it from that perspective? Langford: Yeah. I thought of another example. I remember one time my flights were all messed up and connections were bad and I was supposed to start a seminar at, for the military the next morning and I was actually staying on the base hotel and so I got in really late. It was like one o'clock in the morning or one thirty and then I had to get up and I was tired and exhausted anyway. So I go to check in and this person that's checking me in is, they're doing a really great job and, talking to me and everything else. And then I happen to look up on the wall as employee of the month. And I can't stand it, I have to say something. I said, ‘wow, I didn't, I didn't realize I was talking to employee of the month.' And she got all embarrassed and everything. And I said, so what did you do this month? That was so awesome. And she said again, she said, ‘it was my turn.' Langford: So if you think about it, all the money spent making the picture, giving the honor. They probably had some kind of award ceremony where they had brought all the employees in and you, you had to be there. And then she gets announced as employee of the month, and are you happy for the employee of the month? But immediately psychologically. And that's what Deming talked about with profound knowledge is psychologically, you start to think about, well, I worked hard this month, and the person next to me, I know was working really hard this month. Why, why didn't they get employee the month? And so then your mind immediately starts to wonder, oh, well it's gotta be some kind of game or there's something going on. Or the manager just likes her that there's some kind of sexual thing happening or all kinds of crazy stuff can happen. Langford: But if you took the exact same thing where you said we have an employee and things were crazy one night and this person handled it with grace and ease and organized things and everything. And I'd like so and so to explain to us, how did you do that? How do you cope with that? How did you sort of hamper down the angst that was coming your way and how did you deal with that? And what did you think of, and you could actually learn something from somebody who's done something really exemplary. Stotz: You could imagine that person saying, well, what I did is I stepped from out being, I stepped from behind the counter and I went to the person that was most vocal. And I talked to them about where are you going? ‘Yeah, it's a birthday I'm trying to get there. I'm so frustrated. I've been delayed' and other, okay. I tried to listen to them and try to, then, if I could convince that person to just hang on or whatever, and that type of thing is the type of thing that we could learn from it. So maybe I can summarize what, what I'm taking away from it. The first thing you talked about was the idea of treating a common cause as a special cause the employee of the month, when in fact, it's just a rotation in that case really. Stotz: You also talked about the idea that, be careful because signaling… Singling out one person can lead to bullying. If you put someone on a pedestal, someone's gonna say ‘I'm gonna knock 'em down.' So that's also kind of an unintended consequences of that. And then you also highlighted, this one I thought was interesting was the impact on non recipients, how do people feel? And that didn't get it. And, now you also talked about the idea of maybe an alternative is letting someone share, you see something impressive, interesting, different, let them share. And in particular you said, have them share how they did it, not what they did, but how they did it so that people can learn. Because yeah, if, if a guy started sharing how he did this drawing and stuff, it may not mean that much to me cuz I'm more linear. Stotz: But if he talked about it, you know what, instead of talking about what he did, if he talked about, well, I thought, how do I make these connections between this? And I did it through this, but you could do it through that. And then you also talked about honoring and rewarding, and trying to give people a chance to share. And then the last thing I thought about what you said is of an employee saying, ‘but wait a minute, I worked hard this month too.' is this just favoritism? Is this just a game? Is this just a random thing? Those are… Langford: Maybe I should only work hard when the manager's watching. Stotz: Exactly. exactly- how do I game this thing? All right. Well, anything you would add? Langford: Yeah, just, you made me think of a, another quick story, but in one of my seminars with teachers, we're going over this very concept and I was trying to get them to think about ways that they could operate differently to optimize their whole class or the school, etcetera. Anyway, at the break, a teacher came up to me and he said, oh my gosh. He said, this happened to me. I said, what do you mean? He said, ah, he said, well, I got outta college. I didn't really know what I wanted to do. And I ended up getting a job at, selling insurance at this insurance company and everything. Well, they had all these extrinsic rewards and he said at, at first it was, just really great, sell so many policies and you could win a trip to Aruba and you, you can do this. And then they're always having to dream up, dream up a new, a new cuz you have to keep upping the ante if you want to keep seeing people sort of jump through the hoops to get there. He said after about five years of that, he said I was so sick of playing that game and being manipulated. And he said, and basically I had won everything that they could come up with. Langford: And I just got to thinking about what's the, what's the, what do I really enjoy? And what's the really purpose of being here. And he said, I quit and got my teaching degree. Now I'm a teacher and I make half as much money or less than I did before. And he said, but I'm happy. This is a rewarding profession of what I'm doing. And I don't wanna see this same kind of manipulation coming into the system. He said that I'm kingly aware of this with my own students. And ‘is the administration trying to bring this kind of thinking in to manipulate me' cause he's been through it. Stotz: Yep. So to wrap it up, I think I'm just gonna challenge the listeners, the viewers, if you've got employee of the month, if you've got student of the month, if you've got teacher of the month going on, this is permission to start questioning it, start discussing it, start thinking about alternatives because there are many, many challenges that David's raised today. So David, on behalf of everyone at Deming Institute, I want to thank you again for the discussion. I think it was very interesting for listeners. Remember to go to deming.org to continue your journey, David, what's the best way that people can contact you if they wanna learn more, Langford: Probably the best way and the quickest way is just to go to our website, which is at langfordlearning.com Stotz: Great. This is your host Andrew Stotz, and I wanna leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Dr. Deming. People are entitled to joy in work.

While a discussion on Waseem Rizvi's Qur'an minus 26 original verses is welcome, the foundational argument appears to be weak. The result is that even though it is likely to excite a lot of interest among the non-Muslims, it has little by way of challenging the Islamic fundamentals of naskh (Mansookh), and the right meaning to the verses like 5.32 and 109.6. Singling out only 2.191, 3.151, 4.56, 4.89, 4.101, 5.14, 5.51, 5.57, 8.65, 8.69, 9.5, 9.14, 9.23, 9.28, 9.29, 9.37, 9.58, 9.111, 9.123, 21.98, 32.22, 33.61, 41.27, 41.28, 48.20, 66.9, and leaving out at least another 140-150 equally offensive verses is also not quite explained.

If you've been a listener of this podcast, you'd know that host John Laurito loves to connect leadership lessons to real-life events. Today is no different. He talks about a recent golf game with his dad where he caught himself not being present mentally. He challenges his listeners to try hard to put themselves truly in the present, and they'll see how much they can build a relationship and get value from being in that moment. Do this daily and be conscious of where your mind wanders because being present is a skill that needs constant practice.Show notes:[1:45] John having fun with this podcast[2:24] Where does John come up with his episode content?[3:40] Context for today's episode[6:35] Getting caught up with the past or future that we forget to live in the now[8:05] Singling out your senses[10:36] Key takeaway[12:23] Being present takes a lot of practice[14:25] OutroText LEADER to 617-393-5383 to receive The Top 10 Things That The Best Leaders Are Doing Right NowFor questions, suggestions, or speaker inquiries, contact me at john@lauritogroup.com.

The number of job openings rose 1.1% from November but was still 5.1% lower than before the pandemic, last February. Openings were 11.6% below the all-time peak in early 2019. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said employers had 6.6 million openings, compared to 10.7 million individuals who were unemployed in December. Those looking for work don’t necessarily match up with all the help-wanted listings. But the two figures illustrate the turnaround in labor's supply and demand since last February after nearly two years of job openings outnumbering the unemployed population. Wednesday The broadest measure of inflation showed prices continued to recover in January from widespread pandemic lockdowns last spring. The Consumer Price Index rose 0.3% from December, mostly driven by a 7.4% increase in the price of gasoline. Excluding volatile costs for energy and food, the index was unchanged for the second month in a row, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. From the year before, prices rose 1.4% with food up 3.8% and energy down 3.6%, including an 8.6% drop in gas prices. The core CPI also rose 1.4% since January 2020, down from 1.6% in each of the previous three months and still below the Federal Reserve Board target of 2% inflation. Before the pandemic, last February, the core inflation rate was 2.4%. Thursday The four-week moving average for initial unemployment claims declined for the first time in five weeks and the second time in 10 weeks, according to data from the Labor Department. The latest four-week average at 823,000 was down from nearly 5.8 million in April but still exceeded the highest average in 53 years of records before the pandemic. New claims are averaging nearly four times the level last February, when applications reached a 52-year low. More than 20 million Americans were claiming jobless benefits in the latest week, up 15% from the week before as more people received payments from pandemic-related relief programs. Friday The University of Michigan said consumer sentiment slipped from the end of January as expectations fell among households in the lowest third of incomes. Only 23% of households earning $75,000 or less reported improvements in their finances, the lowest since 2014. Among those in the top third of incomes, 54% said their finances have improved. An economist with the survey-based index said further stimulus payments should help lift sentiment, which leads to greater consumer spending, the main driver of the U.S. economy. He said the pandemic continues to weigh down expectations. The police say they will not tolerate breaches of the level three lockdown by gangs. During the country's first weekend at Level 3 police received almost 700 reports of parties being held and took action against 112 people. Police are warning that this behaviour could "waste the sacrifices" made over the last five weeks In a statement released over the weekend police also referred to a series of incidents linked to Mongrel Mob members in Waikato. The president of the Waikato Mongrel Mob Kingdom Chapter Sonny Fatupaito says some breaches could have been avoided if the police had taken them up on their offer to work with the more vulnerable gang members, for whom lockdown feels like being in prison. Denis O'Reilly is a lifetime member of Black Power and community advocate. He says singling out gangs is not helpful.

Four years ago, when Donald Trump was elected President, many of you were shocked. Many wondered, “Where did we go wrong?” Today, I interview author and journalist Max Blumenthal about his book Management of Savagery. Max painstakingly details the foreign policy decisions made during the cold war in the 1970s, and maps the ripple effects of these decisions that has lead us to this path of regime change wars, empire, Islamophobia and bloodstained episodes of blowback.Excerpt from Management of SavageryIsrael’s ISIS ConnectionWhile Washington’s Gulf-funded think tank experts spun out public relations for the allies of Al Qaeda, ISIS found defenders in Israel. At the Likud Party-linked Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, its director Efraim Inbar promoted the IslamicState in Syria as a boon to Israel’s strategic deterrence. In an op-ed entitled “The Destruction of Islamic State Is a Strategic Mistake,” Inbar argued, “The West should seek the further weakening of Islamic State, but not its destruction.”Instead, he insisted, it should exploit ISIS as a “useful tool” in the fight against Israel’s true enemy, Iran and its proxy, Hezbollah, which operates on Israeli frontiers from southern Lebanon. “A weak IS is, counterintuitively, preferable to a destroyed IS,” Inbar concluded. Inbar went on to argue for prolonging the conflict in Syria for as long as possible on the grounds that extended sectarian bloodshed would produce “positive change.”As bracing as it might have been, Inbar’s argument provided a perfect distillation of the Israeli government’s position on the Syrian civil war. “In Syria, if the choice is between Iran and the Islamic State, I choose the Islamic State,” Israel’s former defense minister, Moshe Ya’alon, bluntly stated in 2016. Eager to see an Iranian ally weakened from within and without, the Israeli army occasionally bombed in support of the rebels operating around the southern city of Quneitra and attacked Damascus several times. The end goal of the Israelis was to establish a buffer zone between itself and Hezbollah, with Sunni Islamists, including Al Qaeda affiliates, acting as its proxies. A rebel commander revealed to the US news outlet Al-Monitor,“The battle to capture Quneitra on Sept. 27 [2014] was preceded by coordination and communications between Abu Dardaa, a leader of Jabhat al-Nusra [Al Qaeda], and the Israeli army to pave the way for the attack.” Benjamin Netanyahu greeting injured Rebel FighterThe Israeli military-intelligence apparatus even funded its own unit of the Free Syrian Army, the Golan Knights. “Israel stood by our side in a heroic way,” Moatasem al-Golani, a spokesman for the Golan Knights, told the Wall Street Journal,“We wouldn’t have survived without Israel’s assistance.” In 2016, Israel established a liaison unit to support the efforts of the rebels in southern Syria, according to journalist Nour Samaha, “facilitating cross-border travel for residents into Israel, regular deliveries of food, clothing, construction equipment and educational materials, airstrikes on pro-government positions and the establishment of an Israeli-backed opposition faction in rebel-held southern Syria.”When journalist Bryan Bender visited top Israeli military officials in the occupied Golan Heights, he heard unapologetic arguments for supporting Al Qaeda and ISIS against the Syrian government, Iran and Hezbollah. “If I can be frank, the radical axis headed by Iran is more risky than the global jihad one,” said Army Brigadier General Ram Yavne, the head of the IDF’s Strategic Division. “It is much more knowledgeable, stronger, with a bigger arsenal.” When Bender asked another Israeli official if the United States should allow ISIS to maintain its caliphate in eastern Syria, he replied, “Why not?”While Israeli military honchos took satisfaction from the bloodshed of Syria’s civil war, ISIS commanders tiptoed around the Israeli military. During a public forum in Israel, the ever-candid former minister of defense, Ya’alon, revealed that an ISIS cell operating alongside the rebels in southern Syria had accidentally launched a mortar into Israeli-controlled territory. “On most occasions, firing comes from regions under the control of the regime,” Ya’alon commented. “But once the firing came from ISIS positions—and it immediately apologized.”Pushed by Israeli media to clarify his statement about ISIS formally apologizing to Israel—an open admission of an Israeli backchannel to the jihadists—Ya’alon refused further comment. In Washington, meanwhile, top officials in the Obama administration, including Hillary Clinton, kept their complaints about the channels of state support to ISIS and other jihadist rebel factions confined to private discussions. There was a lot to lose in venting their frustrations in public, including the massive donations their own political operations received from the very same sources. When Hillary Clinton left the State Department in late 2013, she immediately joined the board of the Clinton Foundation. The New York-based nonprofit touted its charitable good works around the world, from making AIDS medication more affordable to “working toward a world where more girls and women can achieve full participation in all aspects of life.” At the same time, the Clinton Foundation raked in between $10 and $25 million from the government of Saudi Arabia, and as much as $5 million from a front group called “Friends of Saudi Arabia.” Tens of millions more flowed into the Clinton foundation coffers from Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. All along, Clinton knew that the major donors to her family’s vehicle for charity and influence peddling—a key platform for her forthcoming presidential campaign—were propping up ISIS and Al Qaeda in Syria. In a 2014 email to her longtime political confidant John Podesta, Clinton singled out Qatar and Saudi Arabia as the principal benefactors of the Islamic State. “While this military/para-military operation is moving forward,” she wrote, citing Western and US intelligence sources, “we need to use our diplomatic and more traditional intelligence assets to bring pressure on the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which are providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region.”Vice President Joseph Biden was even more explicit. Discussing the challenges facing America in Syria, he stated, “Our biggest problem is our allies.” Singling out Turkey and Saudi Arabia, Biden complained at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in October 2014, “They were so determined to take down Assad and essentially have a proxy Sunni–Shia war; what did they do? They poured hundreds of millions of dollars and thousands of tons of weapons into anyone who would fight against Assad. Except that the people who were being supplied were Al-Nusra and Al Qaeda and the extremist elements of jihadis coming from other parts of the world.”Biden’s candid comments were immediately labeled as a “gaffe” by the Washington Post’s Adam Taylor, who grumbled about the “worrying habit of lumping al-Qaeda’s al-Nusra Front in with Islamic State.” For daring to give credence to what was already widely known, Biden was forced to embark on the equivalent of an international apology tour the same month, issuing “a formal clarification” to Turkey’s Erdoğan and thanking Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister for his country’s supposed cooperation in the fight against ISIS. After Biden’s pathetic retreat, scarcely anyone in Washington, whether in government, the world of think tank experts, or in the press corps, dared to openly confront America’s core Middle Eastern allies for their backing of Al Qaeda and ISIS.Besides Saudi Arabia and Qatar, there was ample evidence that Turkey was taking a lead role in fueling Islamist militancy in Syria’s north. A leaked 2015 report from the Turkish Gendarmerie General Command found that lorries filled with heavy weapons had been sent by the Turkish intelligence services to resupply al-Nusra. “The trucks were carrying weapons and supplies to the al-Qaeda terror organization,” the report read. The government of Turkish president Erdoğan promptly banned all media coverage of the scandal and placed the soldiers who carried out the searches on trial for espionage.A twenty-nine-year-old Lebanese American named Serena Shim had been reporting on these developments on the Turkish border for Press TV, the Iranian government’s English language channel. She was among the first correspondents to cover the transfer of arms from the Incirlik US air base in Turkey to insurgents in Syria. Her sister, Fatmeh, told local media in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan, that Shim “caught [Turkish intelligence] bringing ISIS high-ranked members into Syria from Turkey into camps, which are supposed to be Syrian refugee camps.” Shim began to fear for her life, complaining that Turkish intelligence considered her a spy. “I’m hoping that nothing is going to happen, that it’s going to blow over,” she told Press TV, the Iranian network, on October 18.Turkey-backed FSA capture the city of Afrin in Syria. One day later, Shim died in a car accident. The story of her death was buried, with no acknowledgement from Reporters Without Borders or the Committee to Protect Journalists. American media scarcely covered it at all. Press TV said the car that she died in and its driver had disappeared. Her family never accepted the official version of events and has pressed in vain for an investigation….If you enjoyed this excerpt:Max Blumenthal is the host of the show Moderate Rebels and also the editor of The Gray Zone. He could have cared less about getting digits or fishing for chicks. Jess knows that was the first. Thanks for listening and keep singling!

Sunday 4 Feb 2018 ✏️ Remedying the Heavy and Tight Chest Lesson 4: The Decree of Allah and free will of the slaves, the effects of Shirk, and the light of Eemaan • Recap of Lesson 3: o The believing slave of Allah has Love, Fear and Hope of Allah, what intensifies these things? o How many types of Guidance are there? What are these? o For Summary of Lesson 3 go to: www.Alhudabolton.com/2018/01/28/2147 • Guidance which a person receives from Allah (Guidance for Success and inspiration), what is an indication that a person has received this? o Sincerity o Following the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) • What are the signs that Allah has not bestowed success upon a person, and that Allah has misguided that person? o The person will find in his chest great difficulty when he wants to fulfil the commandments of Allah o He views the commandments of Allah as shackles from which he wants freedom o These are signs that Allah has forsaken the slave • Allah says: “Have We not opened your breast for you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))?” [Surah Ash- Sharh (94) verse 1] o What did Shaikh Uthaymeen mentioned about this verse and the meaning of an opened chest? (See Lesson 3), what did the Shaikh say about the two types of Allah’s Judgements o The soul’s desires go against the commandments of Allah (e.g pray, fast, not to do haraam) and prohibitions and so it is important to strive against one’s desires and therefore having Allah’s help in opening your chest is needed. • If a person finds it difficult do what Allah has commanded, he/she needs to run back to Allah • If Allah does not grant a person success in running back to him, then this is an indication that Allah has caused you to become lost and astray o The person who will be guided and the one who will not be guided, these are already written and decreed and is in the knowledge of Allah already. • The Decree of Allah and free will of the slaves: o The perfection of the world we live in and the other signs of Allah, the creator, show us that Allah has perfect knowledge of what happened, what is happening now, and what will happen. This comes from sound reasoning and a person will naturally know this (that this perfect and complex world could not have come about by chance) o Yet also, when one does a deed, it is not by force and so everyone has a free will and a choice between doing good and evil. A person will know this from his/her senses, i.e. that the choices they make are theirs. • The cause and means of Allah saving you from your own evil could be just one dua • Ibn Al-Qayyim says therefore guidance and Tawhid are the greatest means of alleviating the tight and heavy chest • Naturally, innately, you can know that you have a creator. This is tawhid rubuubiyya (Singling out Allah in his Lordship) in one’s reason and is the fitra of a person. o However, having this alone is not enough to cause the chest of a person to be expanded o One must also have tawhid al-uloohiyya (singling out Allah in his worship) in order for his chest to be expanded • The greatest Means of bringing about tightness of the chest is Shirk: o Shaikh Muhammad Amaan Al- Jaami says the person who fears other besides Allah, calls others besides Allah, loves others besides Allah (in such a way only Allah should be loved) then his heart is distributed among the people. His heart is therefore in many places and is never in a state of peace and tranquillity. He is always in a state of uneasiness regardless of how calm or happy he may outwardly be. His love is fragmented, his fear is disseminated. o The sinner, but who is a person of tawhid (Islamic monotheism) and worships only one God- Allah, his heart is in a state of peace in comparison to the one who worships many gods or calls on the dead (e.g. Buddhists, Sufis, Shia etc). For more of this summary go to AlhudaBolton.com
Jess and Tony think it’s a great idea to split a tide pod while recording the newest episode ‘The Love Letter’ hoping to get some listeners. Luckily they live to tell the story. Jess is counseling some new people while Tony disagrees with all of her advice per usual. This episode talks about the fight for love. Stop taking people for granted. If you love someone scream it from the rooftops. Tomorrow might be too late. If you’re too late just embrace the single life. Thanks for listening and keep Singling!
Jess and Tony are back and both in agreements that the single life is the best life. With sad news about being ghosted again,Jess now has Ghostbusters on speed dial. Love hurts, stay single! Jess and Tony are back after a spooky break for Halloween to talk about Love or Lust. They have so much to cover! Jess gives an update on the race and finally chooses a winner to cuff up with for the winter. Tony fires up the air fryer and blows Jess away with the outcome of crispy food. He is finally off gluten free making Jess super happy. Thanks for listening and keep Singling!
Singling is back this week to talk about ghosting and gluten free. Tony is apparently gluten free now and is really excited to talk about it. More beer for Jess who needs it because she was ghosted (again) - just in time for Halloween! Tony explains why ghosting is a thing and why it's good while Jess argues that the best approve is the fade away.
Inspired by the release of Blade Runner: The Final Cut, Stevie proposed this show should concentrate on how films and television handle morality tales (seeing as churches are more concerned with who is sleeping with whom like institutional Hedy Hoppers....but I digress). Singling out The Good Place, Lucifer and the second season of Preacher, Stevie and Emmet tackle how pop culture today deals with morality and religion. Sadly Star Trek: Discovery gets short shrift, but we'll get back to that sooner rather than later.
Jess and Tony invite a group of friends to talk about their experiences with modern dating. Dating has become so hard now a days! Everyone comes to the conclusion that organic dating is far better than online dating but for some reason everyone is online dating. A psychologist joins the group to help everyone better understand why we should organically date and put our swiping to the side.

There’s so much fun material here that we’ve made this a two-part podcast. Several superstars just sang jingles at the beginning of their careers, while others recorded them concurrently with their regular repertoire. There’s so much fun material here that we’ve made this a two-part podcast. And on part two, we’ll identify one of the most famous, yet least publicly-known female voices in the music business. We'll also hear from the Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly, Neil Diamond, Chuck Berry, Barry Manilow, Johnny Rivers, the Four Seasons, Vic Damone, the Four Freshmen, the Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Sammy Davis Jr., Aretha Franklin, Jerry Butler, Jose Feliciano, and many others singing to sell blue jeans, chewing gum, restaurants, department stores, sun tan lotion, and batteries. Jeff runs a solo extrasode to gush about a kneejerk reactive, wildy speculatory theory. Singling out specific words in phrases and reaching deep into Marvel comics history are nothing for this dynamic and timely theory about a new addition to the cast of Agents of SHIELD.

In this free preview clip of our new deep dive Patreon special on Superstar Billy Graham's early 1990s legal and media battles with the WWF, Kris and David look at the fallout from Hulk Hogan singling out Graham for a shot on The Arsenio Hall Show. We play clips from Arsenio as well as Graham and Shults reacting to the interview on Inside Edition, as well as looking at just how much of the WWF scandals from that era can be traced to Hogan's aforementioned disastrous Arsenio appearance. To hear the whole show, you need to become a Between The Sheets patron at the $5/month level or higher by going to Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets.-----Full show description:We're back to take a deep dive into Superstar Billy Graham's battles with the WWF in the early ‘90s, complete with a lawsuit and all sorts of media coverage. Topics include Graham's initial media onslaught in 1990 and how it was noticeably less hostile than his later interviews, how his various health problems relate to his steroid abuse, the trial of Dr. George Zahorian and how it got the ball rolling on everything else—including Hulk Hogan bashing Graham on The Arsenio Hall Show, Graham announcing his lawsuit and then not filing it for nine months, Graham really ramping up the venom as the ring boy scandal hits and quickly losing his credibility with a bizarre accusation against Vince McMahon the night before they appeared on The Phil Donahue Show, Graham admittedly being geeked up throughout the Donahue taping, the insane Graham hit piece in WWF Magazine and the most likely reason why there were no follow-ups, the quiet end of the lawsuit, Graham's carnyness in general, the attention being paid to the drug allegations compared to the more serious ones, and much more.
