Join Beth and Leon for your monthly stargazing guide as they explore the Borloo night sky this May. With the arrival of cooler nights and the end of Bunuru, it's the perfect time to head outside on Star Wars Day (May the 4th!) for some celestial viewing. Spot the bright first quarter Moon alongside rusty-red Mars, both shining in the north. Below them, Gemini's twin stars Castor and Pollux frame a spectacular 7:13pm flyover of the International Space Station, zipping through the gap like a real-life starship.Further up, look for the hilarious “dog” constellation Canis Minor (made up of… just two stars), then continue turning right to find Leo the Lion, with its upside-down question mark mane and mythological ties to Hercules' very first labour. Peek further into Leo's rear to find the Leo Triplet three faraway galaxies, including one affectionately dubbed the Hamburger Galaxy.Early risers are in for a treat, too. On May 5th, the Eta Aquarids meteor shower will peak before dawn. Head out around 5am to face east and catch up to 30 meteors per hour, streaking from the Aquarius constellation. Venus blazes low on the horizon as the new Morning Star, while Saturn hovers above marking a beautiful pairing with the meteor display.May the 4th be with you—and don't forget to wave at the ISS!

Last year on Star Wars Day (May the 4th), Lucasfilm Animation surprised us with 'Tales of the Jedi' a mini-series of shorts dedicated to showing some untold stories from before the fall of the Jedi. This seems to have become somewhat of a tradition, as this year, on the same day, we got 'Tales of the Empire'. A darker twist on the same concept. This time though, it was bit more focused. Two stories, told in three parts each, for a total of six shorts. The first story follows Morgan Elsbeth and her journey of revenge, which begins with her as a young girl on Dathomir to where we fist met her in 'The Mandalorian' season three. Unfortunately, despite another noticeable step forward in animation quality throughout, this first story-arch leaves a lot to be desired. While 'Tales of the Jedi' revealed secrets of Jedi's pasts, Morgan's doesn't really provide the audience with any new information. Instead, just expanding on a lot of which we already knew or could have inferred. The second half of 'Tales of the Empire' however does pack more of a punch. We follow Barriss Offee, a young Jedi Padawan we had not seen since she framed Ahsoka for the Temple bombing in 'The Clone Wars', as she's recruited to become an Imperial Inquisitor. These final three episodes are filled with fascinating glimpses into the Inquisitorius Program, insightful dialogue into the psyche of the fallen Jedi that make up their order, and some genuine twists that keep you guessing throughout. Listen as Julian and Rachel unpack each mini-episode, and discuss the package as a whole.

May the 4th has a popular tradition of being "Star Wars Day" ("May the 4th be with you!"). The original "Star Wars" movies had a significant impact on The Frontier Beyond Fear host Susan Larison Danz's teens, and she stood in line at the legendary Cooper Theater multiple times in 1977 and beyond for the series (a favorite theater of hers already before that time). What does "Star Wars" have to say about the use of advanced technology, AI and intuition? What surprising, Oxford-verified quote by AI icon Alan Turing aligns with the way telepathy was first introduced in the original 3 films? What does "Star Wars" have to say about forgetting and deriding Spirituality in favor of materialistic fundamentalism? And why does Spirituality win? With degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics (and early experience in AI language model development), writer, researcher, mystic and philosopher Susan Larison Danz, M.S., combines logic with spirituality in all of her endeavors, sharing a free-flowing authentic, intuitive and liberating perspective with listeners. A complete May the Fourth wrap upThe emperor hints at a returnAnd Celebration brings some light and magicThe Kenobi TrailerHasbro FiguresGive us 5 minutes and we'll give you the galaxy.www.ATGcast.comPatreon.com/ATGcast@ATGcastAnother week, another flood of news rumors, clickbait and conversation. This is Pete Fletzer and welcome to disturbances in the Force. All the links to the original sources can be found in the notes and I urge you to check them out. 1.This week was Star Wars Day – May the Fourth – and one of the biggest events from Lucasfilm was the release of the second trailer for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The trailer was 90 seconds and featured a tense moment between Obi-Wan and Uncle Owen Lars, more action scenes between the titular character and various badguys while the voiceover hinted at bounty hunters being employed along with the inquisitors to find the outlaw Jedi. The teaser gave us our first look at Kumail Nanjiani looking worried and wearing what could be Jedi robes. As the promo came to an end, fans witness a robotic arm being attached to what is presumed to be Darth Vader followed by his chest box being attached, lighting up and then culminating in hearing the Dark Lord of the Sith's signature breathing sound. The six-part limited series drops on Disney plus with two episodes on Friday, May 27th.2.In addition to the Kenobi trailer, a 60 minute behind the scenes documentary lauched on Disney-Plus called Disney Gallery – The Book of Boba Fett. The show gives in-depth background and behind the scenes footage of the series including interviews with all the actors, directors and producers. Included in the documentary is more insight into how they were able to create a digital double of Luke Skywalker using a stand-in and the original actor, Mark Hamill, himself. Disney Gallery – Book of Boba Fett is available now on Disney Plus.3.Technology giant, Apple, dropped a 15 minute behind the scenes documentary themselves on their youtube channel called Behind the Mac: Skywalker Sound. The black and white stylized mini-movie gives fans a look at the creation and application of sound effects to Star Wars films (with peeks at other Disney properties) created at the groundbreaking sound studio. Of note is the particular focus on sounds from the Prequel series of films. This is not surprising however, as the new Kenobi series will most certainly have direct ties to this era. You can find this documentary short on YouTube now or in the links below.4.May the Fourth was also a day for more toy reveals from Star Wars licensee Hasbro. From the 3.75” line of action figures, look for Ahsoka Clone Troopers, Padawan Anakin, Mandalorian Super Commando, Heavy Assault Stormtrooper, Stormtrooper Commander, a Phase I clone trooper 4 pack and a Retro collection multipack featuring characters from A New Hope. From the Black Series 6-inch line, Hasbro announced an Endor Leia, Figrin D'An from the Cantina band, and New Republic Security Droid as seen in the Mandalorian. From lifesized movie props, they are making Obi-Wan Kenobi's light saber available for the first time as an FX Elite offering and an updated version of Darth Vader's helmet with electronic sounds and film correct red lenses. All these products are available now for pre-order at various outlets.5.At the Imperial Commissary Collectors Convention last week, Ian McDiarmid, the actor who played Emperor Palpatine SLASH Darth Sidious hinted that he may have some role in some of the upcoming Disney Plus Star Wars properties. On a panel he was on he said QUOTE “There's a certain show coming soon set right around the time I may have been considered to be very active. Whether or not you will see my physical body, I cannot comment on. But you will certainly feel my presence.” There was no indication which specific upcoming series he may be a part of, but the. Kenobi series will feature Darth Vader and the Andor series takes place in the early days of the fledgling Rebellion.6.As Star Wars Celebration looms less than three weeks away, information about events happening at the event in Anaheim continues to come out. On May the Fourth a opanel called Light & Magic was announced for the Friday of the four-day weekend event. The Star Wars Celebration twitter account announced QUOTE “Be among the first in the world to get a sneak peek at the recently announced Disney plus documentary series “Light and Magic.” The panel will feature Lawrence Kasdan, Ron Howard, Dennis Muren, Phil Tippett, Joe Johnson and Rose Duigan. There is no official word on whether it will drop all at once or weekly. The Light and Magic docu-series will be six-episodes long and will begin streaming on July 27 on Disney Plus.(c) 2022 Pete in the Seat Studios

People know about Star Wars Day (May 4th), but this day is far more important. Why? September 8, 1966: Television history was made when Gene Roddenberry's "Star Trek" hit the airwaves. 55 years later, the franchise lives on with new shows and classic episodes and movies can be enjoyed with modern streaming platforms. As with every beloved franchise, fans argue over what's the best show, who's the best captain (spoiler, it's not Janeway) and Old Trek vs. New Trek. Joining me on this episode are two people who share a love of all things Trek and love to argue things, Steven Avery (back for the second time) and @Michaelnp1701 ... I probably should have gotten an actual name, but Twitter handles are fun. We break down the 9 different Star Trek series and give you the definitive list of the ones you should watch, and the ones you should avoid like Terellian Death Syndrome. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tvsrobisunwoke/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tvsrobisunwoke/support

Later in the day, Producer Josh joins us as we (mostly) succeed in taking part in the lightsaber group meetup festivities. I have a tradition of doing a little analysis on one of my favorite movie franchises to celebrate Star Wars Day (May the Fourth Be With You). Given thatRogue One: A Star Wars Storyrecently appeared on DVD and various streaming services, I think its OK to look at that film without worrying about spoilers. In this case, I will calculate Darth Vader's power output as he uses the Force.
