AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY JUST GOT EVEN BIGGER — AND DOCTOR DOOM LOOKS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING! #AvengersDoomsday #DoctorDoom #RobertDowneyJr #D23 #TrailerReaction #MarvelStudios #MCU #FantasticFour #XMen #ReelRejects Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey react to the brand-new Avengers: Doomsday trailer revealed at D23, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Victor von Doom and a massive collision between the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Wakandans, and more. Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man, Oppenheimer) as Doctor Doom, Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, Chris Hemsworth (Thor, Extraction) as Thor, Patrick Stewart (X-Men, Star Trek: Picard) as Professor X, and Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings, X-Men) as Magneto. After watching the new D23 footage, Aaron and John break down Doctor Doom's ominous introduction, his green eyes, ceremonial armor, devastated surroundings, and the trailer's heavy focus on his history with the Fantastic Four. They react to Reed Richards confronting Doom, the emotional hints surrounding Doom's tragic past, Thor being blasted away with seemingly little effort, and the sheer power and presence Robert Downey Jr. brings to Marvel's next major villain. The conversation also explores the massive scope of Avengers: Doomsday, including appearances from Professor X, Magneto, Gambit, Wakandan heroes, Sentinels, and the larger multiversal conflict bringing multiple Marvel worlds together. Aaron and John discuss how the darker visual language surrounding Doom contrasts with the retro-futuristic world of the Fantastic Four, why the Reed and Doom relationship may provide the emotional core of the movie, and whether Doomsday could ultimately reset the MCU timeline heading into Avengers: Secret Wars. Noel catches up with Elizabeth Dennehy. The actress is best known for portraying Lt. Commander Shelby in the Star Trek: The Next Generation two-part episode, "The Best of Both Worlds." The season three finale is considered one of the greatest cliffhangers in television history. Trekkies consider "The Best of Both Worlds" to be one of the greatest TNG episodes. Elizabeth finally returned to Star Trek in season three of Star Trek: Picard as Admiral Shelby. Elizabeth also had a recurred role on Charmed. Seinfeld fans will remember her as Allison aka "The Drakette." Elizabeth was recently seen in Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter One.
Today, we're bringing San Diego Comic-Con International to you, our beautiful listeners. Writer Christopher Cantwellreturns to the show for a boisterous Star Trek celebration. On September 23rd, IDW Publishing is relaunching its Star Trek line. Cantwell spearheads the main ongoing series alongside his artist collaborator, Dennis Menheere. We've been given a sneak peek, and consider their phasers set to stun cuz - We. Are. Stunned. Years after the Star Trek: Picard finale, Seven of Nine now captains the Enterprise-G. Her crew includes several legacy characters. Picard's kid. LaForge's kid. Worf's kid. Not to forget some characters familiar to those who've been reading the IDW comics and several new folks, too. This book is more forward-looking than backward-looking, as all good Trek should be. Most excitingly, Cantwell and Menheere are free to make COMICS within the Star Trek franchise. In the past, likeness has been the predominant factor when crafting brand comics. Dennis Menheere lets loose with his cartooning, embracing shapes and lines that communicate emotion and thought. They're not just assembled to please entertainment lawyers. These characters look like who they should look like, but more importantly, they feel like they should. Cantwell, Menheere, and the whole IDW crew seemingly have learned all the right lessons from Absolute Batman's success. Let's tell stories that only comics can tell. Let's engage with this medium's tools. This episode is the first of five episodes coming at ya this weekend. Be on the lookout for one new Comic Book Couples Counseling episode for every day of San Diego Comic-Con International. It's a lot, but you're gonna have fun whether you're here in California or not. As we said, Star Trek #1 arrives in comic shops on September 23rd. Final Order Cutoff (FOC) is August 17th. It's written by Christopher Cantwell, illustrated and colored by Dennis Menheere, and lettered by Jodie Troutman. Make sure you're following Christopher Cantwell on Bluesky. Persona is heading to live-action, and Netflix has the rights. The breakdown covers the creative team now attached, what the deal signals about Netflix's growing video game pipeline, and why Persona 5 fans should keep their expectations measured for now. This one runs through the names that matter: Christopher Monfette as writer and showrunner, with Shawn Levy and Robert Atwood of 21 Laps producing, the same banner behind Stranger Things. From there it widens out to Netflix's track record with adaptations like The Witcher, Arcane, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Castlevania, then lands on the bigger picture for the franchise, with Persona 6 confirmed this month and Persona 4 Revival on the way. #StarTrek #FedCon2026 #DiscoveryPanel #StarTrekPodcast #FedCon34 #StarfleetAcademy #DeepSpaceNine #TheNextGeneration #Voyager #StrangeNewWorlds

Everyone's juggling a lot in The Pitt Season 2, but Isa Briones' storyline as Trinity Santos feels especially full. Not only is being a second-year resident at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center's Emergency Department especially taxing, but on this particular day, she also faces the return of Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball), Dr. Robby's (Noah Wyle) pending exit for his sabbatical, and the realization that she might not get precisely what she wants out of her relationship with Dr. Garcia (Alexandra Metz). As is very often the case with The Pitt, the writers do an exceptional job of blending workplace challenges with personal concerns to craft stories about fully realized people giving everything they've got to others, while trying to figure out how to care for themselves in the process. With The Pitt closing in on its Season 2 finale, Briones carved out the time to swing by the Collider Ladies Night studio to discuss everything that's happened through Episode 13, “7:00 PM,” before jetting off to New York City for her run in Just in Time on Broadway. We covered lessons learned from her father, Jon Jon Briones, takeaways from Star Trek: Picard, what it was like joining the cast of The Pitt, and, of course, everything Santos is trying to power through on July 4th.

Actor Todd Stashwick's IMDb page is miles long, with appearances in Laws & Orders OG and SVU, Angel, Buffy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, The Riches, Phineas and Ferb, and Star Trek: Picard and the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series VisionQuest. He's also a Bigfoot enthusiast. Not a big foot enthusiast, a fan of the cryptozoological creature also known as Sasquatch. Alert followers of host John Moe know that he shares this interest as well, and deeply. John and Todd compare notes on what is actually a soothing activity: poring over YouTube videos, reading first person accounts, and speculating on whether the “Bigfoot as transdimensional traveler” angle is possible or just a little too far. At various points in this interview, John gets a bit too excited about Bigfoot and, remembering what our show is, producer Gabe Mara calms him down.Hey Sleepy Heads, is there anyone whose voice you'd like to drift off to, or do you have suggestions on things we could do to aid your slumber?Email us at: sleepwithcelebs@maximumfun.org.Follow the Show on:Instagram @sleepwcelebsBluesky @sleepwithcelebsTikTok @SleepWithCelebsJohn is on Bluesky @JohnMoeJohn's acclaimed, best-selling memoir, The Hilarious World of Depression, is now available in paperback._________________________________________________________________________Join | Maximum FunIf you like one or more shows on MaxFun, and you value independent artists being able to do their thing, you're the perfect person to become a MaxFun monthly member.

Happy Tuesday and Happy Holidays, Everyone! If anyone can convince me to join their Dungeons & Dragons campaign, it's Todd Stashwick. If you don't know Todd, he plays Deacon on 12 Monkeys and Captain Liam Shaw on Star Trek: Picard, among many other roles. He is also playing Palladin in the upcoming VisionQuest from creator Terry Matalas. Todd is a brilliant actor and a true nerd and we have so much fun in this conversation. We talk about how he got from doing comedy at Second City to playing killers on TV. We get into what it was like growing up as a nerd and the pinch-me experience of the moment he joined the Star Trek universe in Star Trek: Picard. Plus, we tease VisionQuest and Carrie and talk about our shared love of the great Matthew Lillard. Get ready for an electrifying deep dive with Michelle Hurd, an actress, activist, and industry powerhouse whose career has spanned Shakespeare, sitcoms, sci-fi universes, and everything in between. Born into a legendary artistic lineage and raised to treat acting as both a sacred craft and a true business, Michelle opens up about the relentless training and unwavering discipline that have fueled her ability to work only as an actor since college. She reveals the strategy that won her the fiercely complex role of Raffi on Star Trek: Picard in just two takes. Michelle also pulls back the curtain on her crucial work within SAG-AFTRA, sharing why boundaries matter, why actors should never be asked to tape themselves unclothed, and how she's fighting to make sets safer for everyone. With recent projects alongside Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein and several new films on the way, Michelle Hurd is as unstoppable as ever. These are the unforgettable stories that landed Michelle Hurd right here. Happy Tuesday, Everyone! I can't believe it's taken this long, but this week I am finally talking to my friend and Battlestar legend James Callis! On Battlestar, James played Dr. Gaius Baltar. He is also known for playing best friend Tom in the Bridget Jones' Diary movies, as well as appearances in Star Trek: Picard, 12 Monkeys, Arrow and most recently as Claude Whelan in Slow Horses. James was an intimidating person for me to interview — he's so smart about acting (and about everything else) and he plays a really good bad guy— but in this conversation, you get to see his goofy side and his tender side too. James is an incredible dad and I loved getting to talk to him about how fatherhood helps him keep the nonsense of life on set in perspective. He has also worked with some of the greatest actors of all time and we discuss what traits Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas, Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif all have in common. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation and I'm so happy I got to see James in person! Enjoy the episode and check out our Patreon for an extended hindsight where my producer Jeph and I discuss James and all things Battlestar in more detail.
