Deep Dive: Hades (00:32:16) There is a lot to discuss when it comes to Hades. Do we feel bad for Hades? Zeus is such a butt face. Did he rig the game when they were picking their domains? There are SO many Hades and Persephone retellings, so go looking for them! Persephone eating those pomegranate seeds was a super big deal. Hades was a decent guy…for a god. Zeus straight up just complicated everything. Hades needs to go to Kidnappers Anonymous. But even his affairs weren't as bad as, say, Zeus'. It's interesting to see how the Underworld has evolved over time. And especially amazing to see how he figured out the best way to communicate new death rites to the human race. Did you know Cerberus was a DOG SNAKE? What does Hades look like in the Percy Jackson series? Karen and Kristen get hung up on the word bident. Hades has a lot of abilities. Like a lot a lot. Umbrakinesis is a cool power and more superheroes should have it. We want Mythomagic to be real! Hades is actually a pretty hard worker, which is probably a good thing. It's FINALLY time for our Hades casting. Karen's got jokes. But her first pick is actually someone we've talked about before. Kristen's first choice is someone who has the ability to truly become the character they're portraying. Karen's second pick might be kind of obvious, but he'd be SO GOOD. Kristen's next choice is NO JOKE. Just think about it. Karen's third choice has been in the running for a few others, but she's finally decided to go for it. Kristen's third pick is a combo package, and both people can totally pull off pale. Karen picked a pretty wholesome looking guy for her last choice, but she thinks it could work! Kristen cannot be stopped, and she's got TWO more candidates for Hades left. Shout-out to Alan Rickman for being our dream pick, though. If you're looking for a classically handsome Hades, Kristen's got the actor for you. Kristen's number one choice gives serious Alan Rickman vibes, so he'd be perfect! We also had a couple listeners write in with their own Hades fancasts! Chapter Reviews (01:41:16) It's time to finish up this book, starting with Titan's Curse chapter 19! This book is pretty pivotal to the entire Percy Jackson series. We meet some gods we haven't seen before! Is Athena's fatal flaw her lack of emotion? There are some really fantastic Percabeth moments in these chapters. Did it make sense that Thalia joined the Hunters? Percy Jackson is The One. Why did Ares want to destroy the ophiotaurus? The way the music worked was pretty cool. We learn what Percy's fatal flaw is, and…it makes a lot of sense, tbh. Percy and Annabeth finally get their moment! They have gray streaks that *match* exactly. It's time to talk about Titan's Curse chapter 20. PROTECT TYSON AT ALL COSTS. Percy and Tyson's relationship has come so far. And can we just talk about how mature Percy is!? Who's more terrifying, Ares or Aphrodite? We get an update on pretty much everyone. Why did they wait to tell Nico about Bianca until Percy got there? Hello Nico di Angelo, son of Hades! We only got ONE hint about the di Angelos' lineage—did you catch it? Percy taking on the prophecy is…heavy. It's awesome that we're still talking about Pan, even in the third book. That's a wrap! We're so excited about Battle of the Labyrinth! DC Universe News:   SHAZAM! The movie confirmed to be taking place during the winter: in a recent interview on the Film Riot Podcast, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg confirmed that the film will be set during the winter. As Sandberg explained, this will have a unique impact on the film's visual aesthetic.   "On this one, it was just like 'Yeah, I want this to be a classic superhero movie.'" Sandberg then revealed. "It takes place in the winter, so it's a lot of dark exteriors, but with a lot of colorful lights and stuff around them."   Some DC fans had already been speculating about the film's winter setting, after various set photos showed wintry landscapes and Christmas decorations. And even as Shazam! will be released in the spring, this choice of time of year certainly makes sense, considering its lighthearted tone   Heres an except of what Sandberg said in an interview last year "This will be very different than what I've done in the feature space, because it's not a horror movie and it's a much lighter tone," . "But it's something that I look forward to trying out, even though I plan to return to horror in some fashion. My background, back in Sweden, before I started doing horror shorts, I was doing animated comedy shorts. It's not totally alien to me to have more of a comedy approach. I look forward to taking that on in a feature."   RUMOR- SUPERBOY! May appear on TITANS TV Series: The first live-action series from Warner Bros. new DC-focused streaming platform appears to be embracing its comic book roots, and it sounds like another fan-favorite character could be making an appearance.    A recent casting notice for the original DC Universe series Titans indicates that a certain Kryptonian clone could be making his way to the streaming service. A new report from That Hashtag Show could tease the impending arrival of Superboy.   That Hashtag Show describes the role thusly:   Being referred to as “David”, he is a 20s-something Caucasian male with dark hair who would guest star in the 13th episode, which is the season 1 finale. “David” is described as a powerful individual who is merciless, so much so that he has recently unleashed chaos to the people who have been keeping “David” as a prisoner in a mysterious lab. When we find “David”, he will have recently have escaped this lab. Whoever we see in the role would have a series regular option for consecutive seasons of Titans.   This evidently sounds like the Young Justice origin for Superboy, who was created by Cadmus Labs and discovered by the team in the series' very first episode. The boy who would come to be known as Connor Kent is actually a clone of Superman and Lex Luthor, with his human DNA hampering him from accessing the same Kryptonian abilities as the hero of his namesake.   JOKER ORIGIN MOVIE STILL MOVING FORWARD DESPITE JARED LETOS PROJECT:   After the shocking reveal that Warner Bros. had plans to make a movie focused on the classic Batman villain the Joker as played by Jared Leto, many fans asked one pressing question: what about the many, many other projects in the works featuring the Clown Prince of Crime?   Well, don't worry, because at least one is still moving forward as Deadline confirms the Joker origin movie with Joaquin Phoenix is still in development.   The new Joker movie will reportedly be spun out of Suicide Squad, while the origin movie being developed by director Todd Phillips will be an "Elseworlds" style project under a banner separate from DC Films. They would not be connected each other except for featuring different takes on the same character.   Jared Leto has also signed on to executive produce his solo movie for DC Films. More Than 150 Android Apps Tried to Infect Phones with Windows Malware Security researchers with Zscaler detected the first infected app several days ago, but then more than 150 more with the same signature popped up upon further investigation. As it happens, these apps are carrying the same malicious Windows payload discovered in Android apps last year. This likely isn't an example of bumbling malware creators loading the wrong code. Rather, the developers were using machines infected by a now-defunct botnet called Ramnit.
