On this episode, I'm wrapping up my Miike May by talking about some of the items that are in smaller doses but had a huge impact. The controversial Masters of Horror episode, Imprint (2006). The segment Box in the film Three Extremes (2000), both of his television series, MPD Psycho (2000) and Connect (2022). Some of these are definitely not for the faint of heart and can be triggering. Even though they are not full length films these are some extraordinary additions to the lengthy list of his works. For this episode, the song is Imprint (Dedicated to Takashi Miike) by Buckethead.

We discuss our first Asian anthology film in this episode on Three... Extremes (2004).
En uno de los momentos más álgidos de la popularidad del cine de género asiático en occidente, tres de sus realizadores más reconocidos se marcaron esta antología de relatos que van de lo burdo a lo inquietante y lírico. Empanadillas dudosas, extras vengativos y siniestros circos.
Christian and Ian are not going to eat anything gross. For our new release review we check out the Irish folklore family thriller, YOU ARE NOT MY MOTHER. To wrap up our J-Horror series we discuss the disturbing anthology film, THREE... EXTREMES. We also discuss dry erase boards, hate watching TV, and crying. We'd love to hear your thoughts, questions, or any requests you have. You can contact us at: ItsOnlyFeedback@gmail.com and on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Letterboxd.

You can tell it was recorded on a weekday because our two hosts sound physically and spiritually exhausted. But well that's what the forty plus hour work week does to you. All the days seem too similar and they go by too fast. How does anyone keep going? ....... Movies, of course! And music and art and tv and drugs and alcohol and empty distractions that never really seem to be that distracting ultimately. But anyway, let's continue onward just because...why not
The 2 Guys start the month of October by covering the top five best horror anthologies of all-time. Frank's list includes two Amicus releases, The House That Dripped Blood and Asylum, a collaboration between three well-known Asian directors, Three…Extremes, an anthology of Edgar Allan Poe adaptations, Spirits of the Dead, and Twilight Zone: The Movie. If you are a fan of the podcast, there are other two important ways you can help us. First, you can please subscribe, rate, and leave a review on your podcast client. That not only would be useful to us for the feedback, but also help us receive more attention. Second, if you like your Facebook page, 2 Guys 5 Movies, it would be helpful to like or share our posts so others can learn about 2 Guys 5 Movies and decide if it is for them. Finally, if you have your own ideas for the podcast, you can also email us with list suggestions at 2guys5movies@gmail.com, and thank you all for listening and your support.
Continuing his month long challange to watch 30 Takashi Miike Movies in 30 days Elwood runs down with Stephen the latest batch of films he's crossed off his list including Blade of the Immortal, Imprint, Three Extremes, 13 Assassins, First Love and The City of Lost Souls Throughout september we are raising money for Marvels and Meltdowns Family Support Centre. If you'd like to toss a buck in the donation you can via our justgiving page - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/richard-smethurst2
It’s the BASE biking of anthology films, the Ghost Pepper shooter of shorts, the chainsaw hurricane of loosely linked stories. We checked out “Three… Extremes”, three different directors from three different Asian countries doing their best to shock, disturb, and horrify. I’m not asking for help or anything, just wanted to let you know that I spend way too much time in the pod shed typing up these guys’ synopsis… Synopsises? Synopsisies?
This week on Bikini Drive-In, anthology month continues with the 2004 horror anthology, Three... Extremes. Taboos, trauma & dream logic. Listen every Sunday at 4:00 pm on CKUW 95.9 fm. Questions or suggestions? Email bikinidrivein@gmail.com
Overall, we tend to dig Asian horror. So getting to talk about three different stories seemed like a real treat. Dumplings, from Fruit Chan, deals with an aging actress and what she'll do to regain her youth. Cut, Park Chan-wook's addition, finds a director caught in the dark web of an up and coming actor. Takashi Miike's Box...well, things aren't what they seem there other than the very real drama between two sisters. How well did these tales manage to make the Squirms squeal? Listen to more Fried Squirms at www.friedsquirms.com Check out all earVVyrm podcasts at www.earvvyrm.com Email us at squirmcast@gmail.com
Our first #anthology of the month is an international affair as the nations of China, South Korea and Japan band together to dazzle us with their art, while disturbing our soles. A #Dumpling Fountain Of Youth, pulling back the curtain of “nice people” in the entertainment industry and trying to think outside the box when it comes to avant garde theater with child performers. It’s a rocky ride, but worth the trip to experience some forms of #horror content that don’t normally get tapped into in this way. Yael Gavish & Matt Kona #ThreeExtremes

Stephen Palmer (Gweilo Ramblings / Eastern Kicks)joins for this episode as we look at a pair of Asian films which go much deeper than their shock reputations. First off we sample the youth restoring dumplings of Fruit Chan's full length version of "Dumplings" a film which started as one of the three short films which made up "Three Extremes". Next up we look at one of the key films in the expansive filmography of Takashi Miike with "Audition". A film which would give many western audiences the first taste of his work, while for those who watch it blind a certainly memorable finale. All this plus we discuss CAT 3 movies, the career of Takashi Miike and the appeal of Asian cinema plus much more

Warning: Even in the realm of horror, this movie is not for the faint of heart. It cuts to the chase right after the credits with a familiar theme of cannibalism, coming out of last episode’s discussion of Raw, but this movie takes carnivorism of humans to a whole new...and smaller level. Minki and Tracy discuss how this full length movie revolving around curiously stuffed dumplings that provide everlasting youth, probably should’ve remained the short film that it started as, in the Asian horror trilogy, Three Extremes. They also talk about bad dubbing, terrible sex scenes, annoying characters and the general ridiculousness of the story line. We find out that Tracy once ate a live goldfish, but would never eat balut, and that the hosts will have their first live show in June in the Washington, D.C. area. ALSO, bring the “jingle” back and email us!

Le révéré réalisateur de Sympathy for Mister Vengeance ou du très culte Old Boy revient avec un thriller qui nous embarque dans la Corée des années 30, à l’époque où le Japon lance sa grande entreprise de colonisation. We’re continuing our HORROR OCTORBOR FOUR-BOR world tour of foreign-language horror films this week with returning guest Julia and the 2004 Asian horror anthology Three…Extremes! A triple feature of spooky shorts from Hong Kong (Dumplings, directed by Fruit Chan), South Korea (Cut, directed by Oldboy's Chan-wook Park) and Japan (Box, directed by Ichi the Killer’s Takashi Miike) feature a delightfully unsettling mix of scares.
