This week, the guys ask: How many off road trims should a mid-size truck offer? Benjamin explores this concept with his review of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss, which sits alongside the Z71 and ZR2 models as an off road oriented truck. However, the Trail Boss is surprisingly cheaper and pared down compared to those other models. Does that help or hurt it's chances in the market? Benjamin shares the full scoop! Then Sami gives an update about the LA Auto Show, and all of the new reveals, from the expected, to the confusing and bizarre. The guys close up the episode with a laugh as they reference an interview with Volvo CEO Jim Rowan. Thanks for listening!

The days of American brands falling short in the mid-sized pickup market are over and the new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is proof. It's handsome, capable, comfortable and powerful. Plus, it's affordable. The Trail Boss model with standard 4WD and off-road suspension is less than $40,000.  Tom Voelk takes The Boss on road, off road, camping and exploring. Midsized trucks do some things better than full-sized rigs.   Special thanks to Ryan Douthit for providing footage and opinions for this review. On the latest episode of Zooming with DRIVEN, David tells us about the Kia EV9 all-electric large SUV that the Korean manufacturer just revealed the production version of, and it actually looks a lot like the brilliantly angular concept! Although Sam is disappointed that the more impractical features of the original concept - like the weird doors and square steering wheel - haven't made it onto the final version... We then discuss the news that France, Germany and several other European countries are banding together to fight back against the European Union's plans to ban the sale of ICE vehicles in 2035. Why? Well, it seems that they are big fans of carbon neutral eFuel, with Porsche in particular getting into it - David explains the details. Then moving to the opposite end of the scale from EVs and carbon neutral fuels, Damien tells us about his first drive of the awesome Chevrolet Silverado ZR2, the newest member of the GMSV family to be "remanufactured" into right-hand drive form for sale in New Zealand. It's even more off-road oriented than the Trail Boss it replaces and still utterly huge... Damien then slips straight back into EV-mode with the news that pricing for the Cupra Born hot hatch has been revealed. Spoiler alert: it will sneak in under the $80K Clean Car rebate cutoff, but not if you want a blue one. Why? Watch this week's episode to find out... Then we crank things up a notch with a game of our old favourite: Keep/Drive/Destroy, in which we are presented with three cars and have to decide which one we would keep, which one we would drive and which one we would destroy... this week: the hypercar Holy Trinity, hardcore 4X4 off-roaders and weird little Kei cars. That last one caused David and Damien to make some very hard choices...See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Welcome to a new Patreon Producer NETZ HOG. 2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV MAKES WORLD DEBUT AT CES - Chevrolet has finally lifted the veils off its first all-electric pickup truck, the 2024 Silverado EV based on GM's Ultium EV platform. - Going head to head with the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Silverado EV has the major advantage of being built from the ground up as an electric vehicle—the Lightning uses a modified version of the ICE F-150 platform. - In the fall of 2023, Chevrolet will introduce the fully loaded Silverado EV RST First Edition model with a 400-mile range and an MSRP of $105,000 (plus destination and freight charges). - This model (as well as non-First Edition RST variants) will pack 664 horsepower and more than 780 lb-ft (1,056 Nm) of torque from an e4WD system with the available max power Wide Open Watts Mode, enabling 0-60 acceleration in under 4.5 seconds. - Customers splurging more than a hundred grand on the RST First Edition will also get goodies like four-wheel steering, Automatic Adaptive Air Suspension (raises or lowers up to 2 inches/50 mm), Multi-Flex Midgate that expands cargo capability while maintaining seating for a rear row passenger, and available Multi-Flex Tailgate with power release. Original Source : https://insideevs.com/news/558852/2024-chevrolet-silverado-ev-unveiled/ - Like Lightning, Silverado EV pricing starts at just under $40,000 before government tax breaks. Unlike Lightning, which uses a familiar F-150 ladder frame, the Silverado EV makes a clean break from its petrol-powered Silverado stablemate with an all-new platform based on GM's 800-volt Ultium battery skateboard and capable of fast, 350-kW charging. It's the same architecture that cradles the Hummer EV — GMC's first foray into the e-pickup space. - The retail strategy will initially target premium EV buyers who also have the coin for, say, a $105k Mercedes EQS EV. Pickups like the Silverado High Country have become prized by luxury items in recent years, though the RST EV will cost $40,000 more than a fully-loaded V8-powered High Country. - he high-voltage platform rivals the Porsche and Lucid Air luxury cars and can add 100 miles of range in 10 minutes at a fast charger. The Chevy's 400-mile range bests Lightning by 100 miles. - A flying buttress C-pillar — reminiscent of the 2013 Chevy Avalanche pickup — frames the 5' 11” bed that can be extended to 9 feet (10' 10” with the tailgate down) by dropping the Multi-Flex Midgate wall and window behind the rear, crew-cab passengers. It's not as radical looking as the angular Tesla Cybertruck, but it's distinct from traditional, boxy Silverados. The gate can be split 60/40 — or drop flat with storage for the removable window. The GMC Hummer EV pickup available at launch will be priced at more than $112,000, with cheaper versions coming in later years. The automaker accompanied its electric pickup news at CES 2022 today with the confirmation that an Chevrolet Equinox EV SUV is coming, along with a larger Chevrolet Blazer EV SUV. - Both the Equinox EV SUV and the Blazer EV SUV will be arriving in the US in 2024, the former in the fall and the latter in the spring. - The Equinox EV SUV will be priced from around $30,000, Chevrolet says, plus destination and other fees, and before incentives. It'll be offered in both fleet and retail versions, too, including in LT and RS trims as Chevy showed off in its images today. As with the Silverado EV, Cadillac Lyriq, and GMC HUMMER EV, the Equinox EV will be based on GM's Ultium platform dedicated to electric vehicles. - What makes the news so important is just how strong a seller the existing Equinox is in Chevrolet's line-up, and among compact SUVs in general. 2022 Chevrolet Colorado Review: Prices, Trims, Specs And Photos

Although the midsize pickup truck segment is heating up the 2022 Chevy Colorado is unlikely to lose any market share. On the contrary, the moves Chevy is making should help increase sales.  And that's even though Chevy's umbrella GM slices some of its sales off to the GMC branded midsize each month. Even so, Colorado is one of my favorites in the segment.  And for many good reasons, as you'll read below. ⇒ Martin Chevrolet Is Southern California's Chevy Dealer ⇐ 2022 Chevy Colorado Top-3: Versatility/capability. Styling. Drive. ⇒Continue reading below and click play to listen.⇐ 212.7" wheelbase w/ Crew Cab and 5'2" box 2022 Chevrolet Colorado - What's New? New for 2022 Chevy is offering Colorado a dealer-installed Trail Boss package.  That's on the LT and Z71 models. And that package includes front and mid-vehicle skid plates.  Plus a 1-inch suspension leveling kit.  Special 17-inch ZR2 black wheels and Chevy bow-tie badges along with red tow hooks. Prices And Trim Configurations As with Colorado's full-sized sibling, Silverado, there is a dizzying array of trim configurations you can choose. Cab And Box First, you can select either an extended cab or a crew cab.  But as you do that you need to also pick your bed - aka box. So the crew cab is offered in either a long or short box.  Whereas the extended-cab comes only with a long box. In either case, the short box is 61.70" (5'2") while the long box is 74.00" (6'2"). Trims Next, you have your trim options.  And they include the WT (work truck), the LT, Z71, or the ZR2. Overall, there are exceptions to every option.  But I'm going to layout some generalities here in an effort to normalize while giving you a broad view of your options: WT - see dealer for pricing: The work truck is what you'd expect, a truck focused on getting jobs done.  With creature comforts, advanced tech, etc. taking a backseat. LT - see dealer for pricing: Colorado LT can be a chameleon.  Because you can choose to option the LT into an on-road beauty or an off-road beast - depending on the direction you want to go. Z71 - starting MSRP $35,995: Chevy's Z71 trim is off-road focused.  It's more off-road aggressive and sporty-looking than the LT or WT as well. ZR2 - Starting MSRP $45,395: This truck takes Colorado off-roading to another level of seriousness.  Both in looks and performance.  Get this truck and plan to spend a great deal of time in the dirt, off-pavement.  Also, with no worries about stop signs, traffic lights... or traffic overall. Special Editions As Chevy is known for, Colorado offers a slew of special editions this year.  And they include: Custom - As the name suggests, make it yours, however, you like.  Think executive who hauls stuff. Redline - Black and red accents adorn this package.  And my test driver pictured throughout this post had it. Trail Boss - This is a new one for 2022's Colorado - takes the LT and Z71 off-road packages to a slightly higher level. Z71 Midnight  - This one is more of an on-road package. ZR2 Midnight And Dusk  - Blacked out off-road packages 3.6L V6, 308 hp & 275 lb-ft of torque Engines, Transmissions, And MPG So, just like your trim options, there are plenty of engine and transmission combinations to choose from. Engines It starts with three different engines.  There's a 4-cylinder, a V6, and turbo-diesel.  Each delivers different performance metrics: 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder putting out 200 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. 3.6L, V6, delivering 308 hp with 275 lb-ft of torque. 2.8L turbo-diesel, powering 181 hp with 369 lb-ft of torque. Transmissions And the above motors are paired with one of two different transmissions. First, there's a 6-speed automatic.  And that comes with the 2.5L 4-cylinder and the 2.8L turbo-diesel. Then there's an 8-speed automatic and that comes with the V6 exclusively. Fuel Economy Overall,

We talk about the history of A16, his perspective on 2017, the great events A16 has planned for 2018 and what is in the water that spawned the many outdoor industry leaders and execs that have come out of A16. First Exposure to the Outdoors The cabin in Idaho really was my first exposure to the outdoors. I was really young, a little toddler. As a little kid I would listen to my dad tell stories about him coming back from his trips. He was an avid backpacker, then peak bagger and environmental activist. He was also a Navy captain, kind of a sturdy guy and he he loved the outdoors. So I would hear stories and he took me on my first trip. I was about I guess maybe six six years old. I grew up in Southern Idaho which is in the middle of farm country. However where we were about an hour and a half on our ten-speeds from some mountains south of us. World class Keene and Sun Valley and up over the Lina summit under the Sawtooths, which are as you know some of the most magnificent valleys and the head waters of the Salmon River right there. Things we talked about Furst Outdoor Job- my first outdoor job was was actually believe it or not making t-shirts. I had a little company I started back when I was a freshman in high school. Radical Reels Donate a Pack Foundation Banff Mountain Film Festival 8000 Meter Challenge Pacific Crest Trail Advice, tips I do and these things aren't going to be a big surprise because it's things we know and we've been and trying to teach new people as they come through A16. The first one is pretty easy. I would advise anybody that wants to get in the outdoor business, and it doesn't matter what level they're trying to get in at. It's always the same answer, work retail. If you want to be a rep, you want to be a president of the North Face or whatever it is, get in there and work retail. Part of that is to understand the business. You'll be exposed to all aspects of the business when you do that. From a rep coming in and doing a clinic you learn about the rep side and then you get a little more detail about some of the brand stuff. You just get exposed to all of it, you get a picture what it's about. Another part of it is you've got to go to work for a good company or you have to be self motivated to do this piece of it and that's to learn how to sell. It's skill everyone uses. I don't care whether you're working the sales floor or running a company you're selling all the time. So I would just advise people that you don't just work for any retailer or media. If you walk into a shop and they're just sitting there chewing gum, you know sitting in a chair behind the counter that's not the kind of retailer or go work for. You want to work for somebody they can teach you the skills. If they don't the book stores are full books and podcasts in all kinds of things, so learn how to sell. Another thing I would advise people to do is and this is probably the toughest thing of all is to learn how to take criticism. Not only learn how to take it but ask for it. You rarely see that, even in my generation you didn't see that a whole lot but our generation did a great job of bringing up some really great kids and now they're Millennials. We hire a lot of these people and they really are sensitive. They're wonderful people but they need to be better at taking criticism. Another thing, this is what Mick told me and I think maybe it answers your question earlier about a 16  but it is to an act like an owner. As you know we became an employee owned company along those lines back in 1987 now and when I say act loke an owner don't confuse it with a boss. Acting like an owner doesn't mean to start bossing people around. I'm talking about spending your time, spending your money talking to customers and solving problems. If you keep doing that someday you might you might actually own the place. I've got a few other ones written down here, I don't know if you need to cut me short on this one. I think it's also important that you have clear written career objectives and clear values written down.  We'll talk about this later but understanding business stories. The good news about all this is if you do these things and certainly other advice that you get and get on your program because most people never will do these things. If you do those things and you're disciplined about what you do and what your plan is and you put in the effort it will happen. Other Outdoor Activities I'm a woodworker, a craftsman, a builder and I do it every day at my shop. Fixing something or repurposing a fixture around here. Building a cabinet for home or piece of furniture. That is something I picked up from Mick, it's amazing the therapy.
