Chris Guimond is an awakening and nondual realization guide who works with the Trauma Release Exercises that I've previously spoken about on the podcast. You can listen to my interview with the creator of the TRE approach, David Bercelli (episode 64), if you want more detail on the practices. Chris and I connected over the fact that we've found the combination of TRE and nondual integration to be incredibly powerful, yet no one else in this space appears to be talking about it. On her own journey, Chris worked with previous podcast guest Angelo Dillulo (episode 110), and he has now started recommending these practices too, thanks to Chris. I think we'll see this combination spread in years to come so I'm very grateful to Chris for her work promoting TRE in the awakening and nonduality space. I hope you enjoy the conversation. https://christinaguimond.com/

In this very engaging dialogue, Jeff and Dr. Berceli talk about the origins of David's brilliant TRE (Tension and Trauma Release Exercises) methodology. Jeff shares his personal experience with TRE, and David describes the method and its various benefits. There is something so simple, yet profound, about TRE. It is both a gentle and depthful invitation to connect with your emotional and physical armor, and to release what is ready to move. Tremoring as an individual healing path, and as a collective unifier. Because when we meet ourselves and each other in these vulnerable places, we realize that we are all in this together. In her early 20s, Elena Rossi spent 7 years dealing with chronic vaginal pain, yeast infections, and UTIs. She saw 22 doctors, tried all kinds of meds and creams — and nothing was working. The pain was actually getting worse. In all her visits to doctors of all kinds, all the questions were about her body. No one ever asked her about her relationship, or the quality of sex with her then-boyfriend, or if she felt safe or loved. No one ever asked, How is your heart? It took her p*ssy literally clamping down and excruciating pain to get her to stop and listen to what her body had been trying to tell her (louder and louder) for years. She was in an abusive relationship, and her entire being was saying: no, stop, get out, run. Her body held a wisdom that at the time she couldn't recognize or interpret. She spent the next 5 years on a journey of physical, mental, and emotional healing that eventually led to her sexual healing. And in the process, she discovered her life's work. Elena is a female libido specialist, the author of 2 books, a sex toy designer, and the founder of The Yoni Empire. A sensual connoisseur at heart, she helps women explore the nourishing power of sexuality infused with purpose and meaning. Today's conversation is raw and radically honest — the kind of no-BS truth-telling that women need in order for real healing to take place. Elena gets at the heart of what we're really craving, why porn makes a terrible sex-ed teacher, and what we need to admit to ourselves before we can truly find pleasure and sexual freedom. What you'll learn in this episode: Elena's personal journey from suffering to healing Aimee's recent experience of listening to her body As women, what it means to get clear on our intentions for sex What's really going on when people say they've ‘lost' their libido What's underneath the things we say we want The thing we don't want to be honest about when it comes to sex Join us (and 300+ women!) in person or virtually at the Desire on Fire Experience event, October 29-30, in Southern California! www.desireonfirelive.com Code: DESIRE for $500 off the regular ticket price! Summary: In today's episodes of The Tragedy Academy, Jay welcomes actress and director Christine Twyman. Chrissy breaks down the concept of trauma and presents a method of healing by art. Christine advocates that through art, we can create a space for trauma intervention.Key Points: Advocating for trauma intervention via artWorking with people who are only interested in the monetaryUnderstanding traumaIntegrating with your traumaRecognizing that it's not our parent's faultMen are oppressing themselvesEpisode Highlights:[00:00:31] Introduction to Christine Twyman [00:03:04] Jay introduces Christine's goal of advocating for trauma intervention via art. She describes this as a society, and there are several issues the prevent people from getting trauma intervention, and one way to receive these interventions is through art. Why? Because art is one of the few things that can connect everyone in some way. [00:06:36] Christine admits filming is a strange medium to create in because it is one of the few spaces where business and politics interject. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to separate them.[00:08:19] Christine makes it known the intent for someone to make art solely for money does not bother her if only they allow her to do what needs to get done.[00:12:12] Christine and Jay give their interpretation of ego. Where ego is more of a persona and how people perceive things.[00:14:04] Christine portrays that we are all traumatized children and confesses that she has grown more as an actor by understanding other people as she learns about herself while she unpacks her life.[00:17:32] Christine confesses her love for writing, even more than acting. Writing is the most exciting thing to do; it releases parts inside of you didn't even know you had.[00:22:11] Christine brings up the topic of violence in mass manipulation. From a young age, both women and men are conditioned to fall into specific gender roles, and if they dare to venture outside of that, there will be repercussions.[00:24:45] Christine tells us the critical role of past traumas how the goal is not to forget about your past but to make amends with it. It's a matter of integrating, not removing. She also shares the many pieces of herself she's learned from unpacking her mental illness.[00:26:57] Christine recognizes that it's not our parents' fault for how they raised us. The generational gap is normal, and it is our duty to create a better world for future generations by bridging those gaps. [00:31:19] Christine breaks down the types of violence in life; 1st violence is physical abuse, and 2nd violence is psychological and emotional. People do not usually quantify emotional violence as violence.[00:33:24] Jay details his life growing up in a disenfranchised area of the south, where people blamed their struggles on each other when they should be blaming the system. Christine labels this as crabs in a barrel.[00:36:00] Christine and Jay agree on the notion that men are oppressing themselves. Men learn that they are not allowed to feel what makes them human. Christine states that to oppress the female class, men have to believe that there's something wrong with them at all. [00:39:34] Christine and Jay discuss the animosity we create within ourselves and how to identify microaggressions, referencing White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo.[00:44:05] Jay gives an anecdote when he passed judgment on a friend who just had his tooth chipped.[00:46:20] Christine gives us a quick rundown of commedia dell'arte, aka SNL 1.0.[00:50:30] Christine and Jay agree on art being a part of evolution. It's a tale as old as time; it's something we need. It creates connections and serves as an outlet for the ego.[00:54:47] Christine and Jay reflect angry pieces of art and what it means to make something with which you disagree. In this episode, I share about one of my favorite somatic practices to release and integrate stress and trauma from the body; TRE or Trauma Release Exercises. TRE is a somatic technique that helps you reconnect with your body's natural ability to process stress and traumatic events and restore vitality and resiliency. Developed by trauma expert Dr. David Berceli, it's been used by people globally to process trauma and care for the nervous system. TRE was an integral part of my own healing journey and something I still use daily for self-care and nervous system regulation. I became a certified provider in 2018 and use it in my practice as a holistic sexuality coach. In this episode I dive into:What TRE is and how it differs from other forms of somatic/ shaking methodsA bit about TRE's founder Dr. David BerceliA bit about your amazing Psoas muscles, their role in stress, trauma and how TRE can help you healHow your Psoas muscles relate to your first three chakrasA bit about your Vagus nerve, why it's so important to have Vagal Tone, and how TRE supports thatHow TRE can increase your vitality, help you find your calm, and how it can support your libido and orgasmWant to find out more about TRE? It is used for people that have experienced trauma but it's also commonly used for people who just want to release stress and tension from their bodies. It operates off of the knowledge that after stress happens our bodies should naturally physically shake to release the event. We've become so good at "holding our shit together" that we actually shut down this natural response. The design of these exercises is to fatigue the body in a way that the natural shaking mechanisms can come back into play. There are 7 exercises used which you can learn about on YouTube (https://youtu.be/FeUioDuJjFI). The shaking will be very weird to you in the beginning. It will feel like you have no control over your body and it will naturally shake or rock or vibrate your pelvis and legs. Your breathing may be deep or slow and sometimes the vibration may rock all the way up into your shoulders! You are always able to control the shaking by straightening your legs or rolling over to your side. NOTE***This probably isn't something that you would want to do everyday in the beginning but maybe every other day, and if it feels like too much just do it when it feels needed. I first met Mat Fisher when I was seeking out a mentor to train me in TRE, or Trauma Release Exercises. Created by Dr. David Berceli, TRE is a simple yet innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. That may seem like a weird concept — and it was to me when I first heard of it — but I experienced the benefits of these exercises first-hand so I wanted to learn more about it. The funny thing is, when I first reached out to Mat, I didn't hear anything back. I started to make all of these assumptions and judgments about why, but as it turned out, he just wasn't coaching anymore and didn't check that email address. (You know what they say about assumptions, right?) However, when he eventually saw it, something in my email shifted Mat; he felt called to dust off the gym shorts and the whistle to coach me. And I couldn't be more grateful. Fast forward to today, Mat is one of my most trusted brothers. In this conversation, you will get a glimpse at the depth of character and the quality of inquiry that Mat wields. Having these types of conversations with Mat definitely helped catalyze the Great Unlearning journey I'm on today. He has a unique way of asking questions and framing the world, and if you really take a moment to consider the questions he asks and do some of that inner work with us, those small internal shifts can really make a huge difference in the way you approach life. We Discuss: 04:30 - Why the exercise community is like the trunk of a tree 10:00 - Learning to show up as the person who I want to be (and not the person who I think I'm supposed to be) 14:55 - Why did I build such a strong suit of emotional armor when I was younger? 18:30 - Owning the fear 25:10 - Creating the software of your own operating system 30:10 - Being empathetic and understanding as a parent 39:45 - What happens when you're on a pedestal 49:15 - Being on purpose 53:50 - Embodying both masculine and feminine energy 56:30 - A different view on trauma and history 01:08:30 - Learning from your triggers (and not quieting them) Resources: The Four Agreements: www.thefouragreements.com (http://www.thefouragreements.com/) Trauma Releasing Exercises: traumaprevention.com (http://traumaprevention.com/) Mankind Project: mankindproject.org (http://mankindproject.org/) Adyashanti 5-day silent retreat: www.adyashanti.org/programs/retreats-experience (https://www.adyashanti.org/programs/retreats-experience) Connect with Cal: Website | https://www.thegreatunlearn.com (https://www.thegreatunlearn.com/) Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/bunkercal/ (https://www.instagram.com/bunkercal/) Twitter | https://twitter.com/BunkerCal (https://twitter.com/BunkerCal) Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/BunkerCal (https://www.facebook.com/BunkerCal) YouTube | The Great Unlearn (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCneI0an6qiL7t-7sne9TjhQ) Subscribe to the Great Unlearn Podcast: Apple Podcasts | https://apple.co/3a4ATpc (https://apple.co/3a4ATpc) Spotify | https://spoti.fi/2Rb7emv (https://spoti.fi/2Rb7emv) Google Play | http://bit.ly/2sehHUE (http://bit.ly/2sehHUE) Stitcher | http://bit.ly/2t8wHE6 (http://bit.ly/2t8wHE6) If you are called to support the podcast, please share the show with a friend!!! It has become commonplace to talk about being “triggered.” While becoming part of the lexicon, this concept is more than just a buzzword. Acknowledging these emotional triggers provides a greater awareness of how our past can continue to affect us. PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder, doesn’t just affect war heroes and first responders. We’ve all suffered trauma in our childhood, especially if you use the definition of trauma being anything less than nurturing, which I learned from previous guest, Brent Charleton. Traumatic experiences can alter our emotional responses and create problematic neural pathways. Plus, that trauma lives in our bodies as tension and stress. But this trauma doesn’t just cause anxiety and back pain. This trauma can keep our bodies stuck in a suboptimal state. Thankfully, there’s a solution to this, and to tell us all about it, we have Dr. David Berceli joining us. He’s an international author, presenter, and trainer in the areas of trauma intervention, stress reduction, and resiliency & recovery training. He has lived in war-torn countries and natural disaster zones around the world. And he is the creator of the TRE, or “Tension and Trauma Release Exercises”. TRE releases stress and trauma from the body through exercises that bring balance to the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. If you or someone you love suffers from stress or trauma, you’re going to want to hear what David has to say. Leaving it unmanaged is like driving a car with the emergency brake engaged. So let’s get started!
I met Richmond 5 years ago at a gathering for conscious manhood called menergy. What struck me about Richmond at the time was his integrity along with his awesomely uplifting spirit and I was intrigued when I heard about the Trauma Release Exercise (TRE) workshops he was facilitating. This episode, however, isn't simply an introduction to and explanation of TRE, Richmond takes it much further and deeper than that and outlines a blueprint for consciously embodied healing, a sense of somatic spirituality. This is a powerful and moving episode and it was an honour to hold space for Richmond's journey, albeit with little input required from me.To find out more about TRE the Australian website istreaustralia.com.auand the international site ishttps://traumaprevention.com/There is also a local facebook group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/TREAustraliaNZ/
