Adam Mason is Senior Manager of Farm Animal Welfare and Environmental Policy at the ASPCA, the American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. In our conversation he talks about their multi-pronged approach to getting animals out of buildings and into cruelty-free lives in which they can express their natural instincts and behaviors. Farmers who make the transition from industrial/conventional livestock practices to animal-friendly practices report better lives for the animals and the farmers themselves, with benefits for land and water health, and often more autonomy and greater profitability.

For Adam Mason, making wine is an expression of life. The experiences and moments that combine to define a life are equally central to creating or 'raising' a great wine. He should know. From the vineyards of the Loire Valley by way of Klein Constantia, to his own brands - Raised by Wolves and Yardstick - Adam's wines are the journal of a fascinating journey. This chat was so illuminating, and such a pleasure.Raised by Wolves On Instagram @a_table_inthecorner Cover image sketched by Courtney Cara Lawson All profile portraits by Russel Wasserfall unless otherwise credited

His dedication to the sport took him to the college courts and a seven-season professional career in Mexico. Now, as a coach, Adam prioritizes fostering a love for the game and developing individual skills over simply focusing on Takeaways from this episode include: Maximizing your performance in all areas of your life as a parent, coach, athlete, or as a gritty human being. Maximizing your God-given talents to offset height and succeed in basketball. Prioritizing family and Playing Multiple Sports Encouraging young athletes to play multiple sports can be beneficial to their overall growth and development. It allows them to acquire a variety of athletic skills and life experiences that can later be applied in specific sports. Also, engaging in different sports can help prevent burnout and keep their motivation high. In the podcast, Adam Mason firmly believes in the benefits of playing various sports for a child's growth, and shares his viewpoint on how it can teach valuable life skills. He explains that these experiences will help young athletes become more versatile and adaptable, ultimately increasing their chances for success in any sport they choose to pursue. Development vs. Winning Coaching young athletes can involve an important balance between focusing on individual player development and striving for team success. In the early stages of a sport, development should be prioritized over winning, as nurturing skills and personal growth of players is essential. It's important for coaches and parents to instill the value of development so that athletes grow in the sport and achieve their potential. Adam Mason's philosophy on coaching reflects this mindset, as he emphasizes the need to develop players both on and off the court. Throughout the Gettin' Gritty with Dr. J podcast, Mason shares his experiences illustrating the importance of focusing on development rather than winning when working with young athletes. This way, players are better prepared for future challenges and opportunities. Parental Involvement and Giving Direction Parents can play a significant role in guiding and supporting their children's athletic aspirations. They must offer a supportive environment, encourage personal development, and help their child set and achieve realistic goals. By doing so, parents can help young athletes reach their full potential and overcome challenges along the way. In his conversation with Dr. Julie Wiernick on the podcast, Adam Mason highlights the importance of parents participating in their child's athletic journey. He encourages them to motivate their children, remind them of their goals, and support them through thick and thin. Mason's insights reinforce the idea that parental involvement helps to create well-rounded, successful athletes committed to reaching their dreams.

In Episode #125 of The Legal Paige Podcast, I chat with Adam Mason- a Washington D.C. based wedding photographer, mentor, and host of the Bearded Tog Podcast- about the #1 easiest way to avoid legal troubles with your clients (hint: it's NOT contracts). As photographers continue to book sessions for the rest of 2022 and 2023, it's so important to focus on avoiding legal troubles and putting customer service first. Adam has NEVER experienced any major legal debacles because he has mastered the art of customer service. Tune in to learn... The Legal Paige Podcast Shownotes Episode Highlights Why customer service should be one of your TOP priorities as a savvy business owner (and how focusing on customer service has changed Adam's business for the better). The onboarding process and customer service touchpoints Adam includes in his business to ensure his clients are taken care of + delighted with their experience. What to do when you just can't seem to make a client happy (no matter how great your communication or streamlined your process). And so much more! Worth Noting "The goal is to get to that phone call, and then on the phone treat them as if they're new. I'm not treating them as me the salesperson.I just want to talk about wedding stuff. What they need, and what they don't need. One of my lines, I always say on the phone too, is that like, I'm more of a pragmatist, not a salesman. I don't want to sell them anything they don't need. I want to be intentional and have impact on what they're looking for. And make sure that they're stress-free." - Adam's advice on calls with clients and not being the salesperson. "My big thing and it's our company value... is set the tone. Because if I don't set the tone, and again this goes back to relationships. If you don't set the tone, someone else will. If you don't love them, feed them, care for them, honor them, respect them. Someone else will, if you don't set the tone. That's where the knot.com comes in and says, this is what your photographers should be doing. This is where their bridesmaid comes in and say, this is what your photographers should be. I don't want that to happen. " - Adam's advice on setting the tone for customer relationships "You can present a boundary. If you're in a healthy relationship with these clients, most of them will just know your boundaries by you setting them. You won't even have to bring it up. And if these folks want to go past a boundary or abusing those boundaries, again, we go back to a relationship. That's an abusive relationship and we've got to cut bait. We've got to get out of there. And then you just try and find the most amicable way to do that."- Adam's advice on setting boundaries while still presenting great customer service.
Adam Mason's schlocky and opportunistic “Songbird” is billed as the first Hollywood feature to be made during quarantine, and this impressively scaled pandemic-themed riff on “The Purge” couldn't be prouder of itself for that accomplishment. The project announces its own topicality before the studio company logos have even played out during the opening credits, as snippets of news audio bark at us about the death toll of COVID-23 (a mutated coronavirus that's evolved to attack brain tissue and kill people within 48 hours of infection), and not a single minute of the slapdash movie that follows allows you to forget that it was conceived, pitched, written, shot, edited, and released since lockdown started in March. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/cokoredd/message

I am so excited that you're listening to this conversation. (If you haven't started it yet, don't delay. Hit play now!) Adam and I dug into so many different things both personal and business related. He shared so many fantastic tips and advice but the best was why it's important to find your why. Adam was raised by a single mom in a small town and was very involved in his church. He went to college with a focus on music but due to his own actions was kicked out. He was later offered his dream job but he realized that he wanted and needed more. He took the leap and started doing photography full time after building his business on the side of his full time job. He has since built a multiple six-figure photography business and is helping others to do the same. What has been constant through all of this? His why. Though the actual why has changed over the years as his life has grown and expanded, he's constantly working toward his goals. When things get hard, when the business seems impossible, he thinks about his why and it keeps him motivated. We also dive deep into the issue of burnout. It seems so prevalent this year as the world starts to open back up after the lockdowns. He himself is shooting over 70 weddings this year. How does he avoid burnout? For Adam it's all about living in his purpose. If you're living in your purpose you'll never experience burnout. On the flip side, if you're feeling burnout, it may be time to make some changes. If you're ready to hear some amazing advice from a fantastic photographer, then listen in and keep a notebook handy. Adam really is dropping all the truth bombs! In This Episode: [00:53] Welcome to the show Adam! [01:16] He shares his background and what he is doing today. [04:01] Adam talks about the diversity he shoots in D.C. [07:00] He discusses his journey to photography. [11:51] Adam speaks about going out on a limb to start his business and some mistakes he made along the way. [17:17] He talks about finding your why and how that can get you through the tough times. [22:23] If you are fulfilling your purpose, there will not be any burnout. [27:31] “Imposter syndrome only occurs when you try to be someone else.” [32:30] Adam believes that marketing to your ideal client is beneficial. [34:36] His cats' name is Penny, and he shares some never heard info. [37:27] Adam shares some things that are important to grow your business. I'm talking to Adam of Mason Photography in this episode, a wedding photographer based in the Washington D.C. area. Fear is something that holds us all back. Whether that fear is in our personal lives or business.

Steve and Adam also talk about conference photography, political photography, and commercial work. The also talk about whether or not your mortgage company cares about how you made your money. Q&A: Should I let my husband second shoot for other female photographers when he's never shown an interest in it before but one of my competitors keeps asking if she can hire him? I grew my beard out and we stopped booking clients, should I shave my beard so we can make money again? My sister thinks her photographer deleted her wedding photos because I brought my camera to the wedding. She's demanding I pay for a new wedding or else produce a complete gallery of her wedding when I didn't shoot anything but getting ready. What do I do? I booked a client at a discount because I was supposed to get show photos from their BDSM conference on my site but when I showed up they took my phone and cards and forbid me from saving any photos anywhere. Can I ask for more money now since they didn't live up to their end of the agreement? Find more Adam Mason: Website, Instagram, Bearded Tog Podcast, Twitter, Facebook Want more?
