Have you had a very up and down relationship with exercise? I have! That was until the fitness queen Leanne Hainsby-Alldis came into my life via the Peloton Bike! If you have jumped on a Peloton before you will recognise Leanne for her sparkle and pure positivity. But before fitness fame, Leanne spent a decade as a professional dancer (my dream job - shame I don't have enough rhythm) working with everyone from Taylor Swift to Katy Perry. That all changed when on a 10/10 hangover she was headhunted to become an instructor by Peloton's very own Cody Rigsby. Today Leanne serves us a healthy dose of motivation - no matter where you are at in your fitness journey - and reflects on how career change, milestone anxiety and all the things we experienced in our 20s and 30s have shaped her. But it was a change she didn't see coming that has really shaped Leanne into the person she is today. In October 2022, shortly after losing her best friend she was diagnosed with cancer. We recorded this just before her wedding to fellow Peloton instructor, Ben Alldis and Leanne powerfully shares her story with us and just how life changing the last few years have been. Leanne is a role model for resilience and I hope her strength really inspires you. Like Leanne says, energy starts with you - so I hope her words encourage you to nurture and look after your energy no matter what situation you find yourself in. If Leanne's words resonate with you, drop me a message - I am @joshsmithhosts across social media. Love Josh x P.S. In this epsidoe you will have heard me talk about my book, ‘Great Chat: Seven Lessons for Better Conversation, Deeper Connections and Improved Wellbeing' which is out now! You can get your copy here https://geni.us/GreatChat and I really hope it inspires you to start using conversation as a self help practice, empowers you to be a better communicator and helps you build the connections you are deserving of. I've got a real treat in store for you today as I chat to the radiant Leanne Hainsby from Peloton who is just as beautiful on the inside as she is on the out! We chat about how some things are just meant to be, and how joining Peloton was the best ‘yes she ever said', as Leanne shares all the behind the scenes gossip, including how she was scouted to join by the one and only Cody Rigsby, her workout secrets, a typical day in the life and what it's like being engaged to fellow instructor Ben Alldis. We also hear about Leanne's previous career as a dancer for the likes of Kylie Minogue and Taylor Swift, and the remarkable story of how she adopted a kitten from Katy Perry's music video shoot. Leanne also talks about how having trouble with her skin was a real mental health challenge, and how this crippled her confidence when her Peloton journey was just beginning. She shares the highs and lows of her recovery process and reveals which treatments really made a difference. Finally, we have the loveliest chat about fashion and sequins and all things that sparkle! She sounds like she's got the most fabulous clothing collection and thoroughly enjoys any excuse to get glammed up and hit the dance floor. My kind of gal! In this solo episode, I try and distill the best learnings that I have found from the first 12 guests on the one small change podcast. It's been an incredible experience for me so far and one that I have learned an immense amount from. In this episode, we go through how to set up a podcast and my experiences using a virtual assistant. We cover value-led decision-making and how this creates a great matrix for efficient and well-balanced decisions to the opportunities that present to us in life. This was very apparent from the life-changing decisions that many of our guests had made (Richard Biedul, Ben Alldis, and Paul Brunson in particular) We go through the interesting benefits of CBD on mental health, sleep, and recovery and my experiences with using PureSport CBD oil and balm for the last month. I then do a bit of a deep dive into a current passion topic of mine - the use of Psilocybin on conditions like depression and PTSD. We move on from here onto investments and Paul Brunson's 3 pillar investment strategy which I have found very powerful. And then a deep dive into another major interest of mine at the moment which is NFTs (Non-fungible Tokens). Finally, we finish on the topic of Therapy (thoroughly recommended by Dan Murray Serter, Jim Chapman, and Matt Willis in particular) and my research into finding a therapist with the company Betterhelp.com
On Today's show, we have @onepeloton instructor Ben Alldis (@benalldis). Ben's story is a really incredible one, after starting his career in private equity Ben made the switch from finance to fitness and has become one of the lead instructors for the rapidly growing cycling phenomenon. I found this story of following his passion really inspiring and you won't believe the health issue he had to overcome at the same time! Ben gives great insight into his journey with Peloton, his mindset, and routines. He also gives a brilliant insight into the exercises that he feels give the most bang for their buck and keep him in such epic shape!!
