Pig farmer Dunch Baggins has a wild accusation as to what has happened to his missing wife. But with a real Sigmund Fraud like Ian Herrin for a therapist, will Dunch even be able to get to his theory, or will he be forced to hear full recaps of a Ron White standup bit?? Maybe if Ian wasn't so comedy obsessed he'd realize Dunch needs actual help and not the latest gossip on Hasan Minhaj's exaggerations. As is, the reveal as to what's really going on with Dunch's podcast is WAY crazy and takes WAY too long to get to and was probably worth unpacking the whole time Ian was yet again going off on tangents!! Ah, now you must be a high end comedy connoisseur familiar with the work of the Blue Collar Comedy tour, because you've found the best part of the episode description! The part where I get to shout out the wonderful actor and improviser David Greenslade! Be sure you catch David sitting in with Woodstock and performing around NYC! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sigmund-fraud/support

Are you really late anymore if you've been so consistently for three uploads? Only God can say. In any case we are back for the second part of our exploration of the JFK assassination. A lesser (but maybe more punctual) person would make a joke about how it's going to be mind-blowing. I strive for jokes only slightly more elevated. I'm thinking between the Blue Collar Comedy tour and the New Yorker. What do you get when you cross a New Orleans businessman and an Attorney General with a somewhat loose grasp on reality? Summary: In today's episodes of The Tragedy Academy, Jay invites the host of the podcast I Am Just Gaying, Hernando Del Castillo. Hernando brings us along to his journey of reflection, awareness, and metamorphosis. We learn of the societal pressure he experienced as a gay Columbian man and the hurdles he jumped through to become his whole authentic self finally.Key Points:
William Lee Martin's comedy style is storytelling at its finest. With material based on the family man's real life, Martin's fantastic timing keeps the punchlines coming with just enough time to catch your breath between bits.Martin barreled into 2021 with fresh bits and new material when he kicked off his “All American Mutt Comedy Tour” in his home city, Fort Worth, Texas.Martin's career started in 1996 at the age of 30 where he rose at a meteoric pace from open-mic night to club headliner in just 3 short years. You might remember him as “Cowboy Bill.” He also entertained military troops overseas, toured with country music stars like George Strait, George Jones and Brad Paisley, and even performed with all four of the Blue Collar Comedy stars. In 2019, the Texas comedian released two brand new one-hour televisions specials with the Comedy Dynamics Network. You can watch “Standing in the Middle” (released Nov. 5, 2019) and “The Nutcracker – A Christmas Standup Spectacular” (released Dec. 10, 2019) on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google, YouTube TV, X-Box, Dish, Sling and in audio form on Sirius XM, Pandora, iTunes, and Spotify. These specials were the follow-ups to his 2015 self-produced smash hit television special on the CMT network, “Let the Laughter Roll”.Since the start of the covid-19 pandemic, Martin's gained almost 400,000 social media followers. He's been releasing live clips from his specials on social media (27 have over 1 million views apiece), appearing on national podcasts, doing his “4 pm Daily Talk Y'all” every day since March 18, 2020, occasionally hosting movie nights for his fans, and he even went 24 hours straight LIVE, all on Facebook. Martin's “4 pm Daily Talk Y'all” is part inspirational, part humorous and some talks are just reminders to laugh even if you have to fake it. As he repeatedly says to his audience, “your body doesn't know the laughs are fake, so it still produces endorphins. So, fake it, America.” Martin said. “I just wanted to show people that to get through life sometimes you have to get through the minute, to get through the hour, to get through the day.”But perhaps Martin's proudest achievement is the success of his non-profit organization: The Cowboys Who Care Foundation, which was designed to provide support, smiles and free cowboy hats to kids living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The foundation is generously sponsored by Resistol hats.SongwritingIn the last few years Martin's taken his songwriting aspirations to new heights thanks to a publishing deal with Nashville's Myriad Publishing. “He has an amazing gift for words. It won't be long till everyone from Nashville to Austin will want to write with him” Steve Cox, president of Myriad Publishing.Support the show (http://www.paypal.me/BangProductions )

BackTrekking returns again to look back at the real-world inspirations of classic Trek episodes!OK, now that the actual Holocaust is out of the way, we can try something much more idyllic but still a little bit sinister. In the early days of TV, before we had these "500 channels" with nothing on them (which seems like a bad business model), programs were much different than they were today. Times were simpler, characters were whiter, and everything wrapped up pretty neatly in 30 or 60 minutes (plus commercial breaks). There were daring private eyes, brilliant lawyers and cops, and cowboys cowboys cowboys, and all were morally impeachable. Sure, they'd make mistakes, they'd be tempted by evil, but they would always win out in the end because that's what TV was for: presenting morally enriching tales that featured just a hint of violence and sex. Drain all vice completely out of '60s TV and you get The Andy Griffith Show, an anodyne picture of rural America in the 20th century that's more fictional than the Federation of the 24th. Andy Taylor is the sheriff of Mayberry, North Carolina, a town where the deputy only has one bullet, all problems can be solved by home-cookin', and black people simply do not exist.Fast-forward 300 years to a distant alien planet that is eerily similar to 20th century Earth (is that Floyd's barbershop?) where a deadly plague has wiped out everyone over the age of 18, leaving the children to frolic in the ruins. But these are no ordinary children; they, too, are the victims of the age-prolonging experiments that initially caused the plague, each of them growing slowly, inexorably toward puberty where they too will join the mountain of corpses that fills the old fishin' hole. Star Trek wasn't the first or arguably best show to employ genre thrills in the service of didactic storytelling (see "Twilight Zone, The") but it made a meal out of taking the TV conventions of the decades prior and putting an alien face on them, posing questions about social issues that were rarely as black-and-white as some of those alien faces. It wasn't by any means a blameless show, but it presented a world that was more diverse, more frightening, and more real than any of Aunt Bee's pickle-induced nightmares, and in doing so, blazed a trail for socially-conscious storytelling that would lead into the 21st century and beyond. On this episode, we discuss the rigid but airy structure of The Andy Griffith Show, the darker implications of Mayberry's sterile world and its effect on the '60s audience, immature depictions of neuroatypical characters, the complaints Star Trek received over the "gross" Miri, letting details slide so you can sell your audience on a big ask, the complicated gender politics of the episode, and the singularly unique Michael J. Pollard. We also discuss the original Blue Collar Comedy, naming your show after its star, how Hallmark movies are the fuel-air bombs of the culture war, keeping your kid out of showbiz, taking the "sub" out of "subtext", the positive version of Harrison Ford, masculine wiles, "Take a seat, Neelix," NARCANing Otis, quarantine snacks, Gooey Is all-in on "The 'Rents", and Kal attacks the Myth of the Sexy Kirk! This is what it's all about, boys!Get the complete Andy Griffith series on DVD!https://amzn.to/2xeYSTiJoin us in the Just Enough Trope Discord!https://discord.gg/EAx5VGXTweet at the show or your hosts with your suggestions for future episodes!http://www.twitter.com/backtrekkinghttp://www.twitter.com/ka1ibanhttp://www.twitter.com/gooeyfameCheck out the other shows on the Just Enough Trope network!http://www.justenoughtrope.comTheme: Disco Medusae Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Ever wish you could live a life where you could say exactly what is on your mind at all times? Very few people actually have that kind of freedom. It takes a certain kind of sacrifice in order to reap the rewards that come from being true to who you are. Such people must take the risk that being yourself will lead to being successful. There’s a certain kind of character a person must have to take such a risk- whatever happens is yours and yours alone- success or failure- its nobody else’s fault. We like that kind of character on Phil In The Blanks. True success ultimately comes down to self-ownership and the courage to take responsibility for oneself- all the good and all the not so good. Ron White has walked that walk, and because he’s walked the walk he can talk the talk- and when he talks people laugh and they laugh hard. He’s a Navy Vietnam vet, a blue-collar comedy icon, a producer, an actor, a whiskey drinking, cigar smoking, unfiltered, off the cuff stand up from a small town in Texas who’s seen it all, done it all and landed on his feet in front of microphone. One has to love Ron White for all the good and for how he helps others learn to walk in their own truth the best they can. https://www.drphilintheblanks.com/

Today's Guest: Bill Engvall, comedian Bill Engvall, image via Wikipedia Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of TV stars who haven’t updated their blogs since September 29, 2008… in the new new media capitol of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida! Don’t tell my wife, but I’ve watched those Blue Collar Comedy standup specials on Comedy Central starring Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy and Ron White about a hundred times. I usually catch them on the little TV in the kitchen while I eat lunch. It doesn’t matter that I already know the jokes and the punchlines – and you know that Larry is always going to be the punchline when they’re together. BILL ENGVALL audio excerpt: "Unfortunately, no, I'm not the love interest (for Jada Pinkett's Smith's character on 'Hawthorne')... If I had my pick, it would be Michael Vartan. But I had a great time with Marc Anthony." These four guys are like a 21st century version of the Three Stooges to my way of thinking. Not in terms of looks or slapping each other around, but because there’s no way a guy can justify to his wife or girlfriend how hard they make you laugh. And like his Blue Collar comedian compadres, Bill Engvall has made a real industry of this Blue Collar business. He sells out comedy tours, has published a book, done movies, and starred in a sitcom under his own name on the Tyler Perry channel – I mean TBS. Now he’s stretching the brand even further in a most unlikely way – guest starring on three episodes of Jada Pinkett Smith’s TNT drama series, “Hawthorne.” Engvall’s second appearance as Det. Jimmy Dupree airs Tuesday, June 28 at 10 p.m. Bill Engvall Website • Blog • iPhone app • Facebook • Twitter • MySpace • Hawthorne on TNT • Lingo on GSN Order 'Here's Your Sign' by Blue Collar comedian Bill Engvall, available on DVD from Amazon.com by clicking on the box cover above! Gary is one of the funniest guys I've met in Hollywood and one of the busiest actors around. He recently appeared in the Sundance grand jury winner, "I don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore", currently airing on Netflix. Last Summer he starred as Bebop in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 and soon you’ll be able to see him in the film "5th of July". Other film work includes The Internship, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Undercover Brother, Soul Plane and The Factory. On TV, catch Gary in a fun new episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, and multiple episodes of I’m Sorry on TruTV and Whose Line is it Anyway on The CW. Gary was a series regular on Boston Legal as well as Blue Collar Comedy. He recurred regularly on The Soul Man, Raising Hope, Malcolm in the Middle, and Weeds. He’s also the voice of the award winning music show “Unsung.” Gary and his writing partner recently sold a feature script to Lionsgate. In addition, the two just completed production of a pilot for YouTube Red based on their award winning DreamworksTV show, Life Hacks for Kids. Life Hacks has well over a quarter of a billion views. You can watch their live-action shorts, Snackdown, on Disney Jr. Gary also wrote and directed the animated short, Baby Stache, for Nickelodeon. In animation, Gary appears in several Disney animated shows including series regular characters on Doc McStuffins, The Lion Guard and Sheriff Callie’s Wild West. He played Uncle Ruckus in The Boondocks, Riff Tamson in George Lucas’ Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and both Mongul and Mongal in Batman: The Brave and Bold. Catch him in episodes of Bob’s Burgers, Rick and Morty, American Dad, Super Mansion, Scooby Doo, China Illinois and Black Dynamite. Gary is very pretty. Oh yeah, he’s also a proud member of the all-black, booty-kicking improv show, The Black Version. And oh, yeah, he's a great dad. Enjoy!
We’ve never had a comedian on the show...we still haven’t got one. But JP Williams might be the closest thing we’ve gotten in two season so far. Prepare for laughs, money talk, and music business probs’. JP is no stranger to managing talent, but music has been the most recent in his long career as a talent manager. We discuss managing Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy in the prime of The Blue Collar Comedy productions. The journey of an agent to the CEO of Parallel Entertainment, and the turbulence of owning your own company in entertainment. Jump to the present, Parallel manages actors, comedians, production, and music artists in country and pop. Artists include Ryan Beaver, Lance Carpenter, Zella Day, Alex Hall, and more. What does it take today for an artist from a managers perspective and how can musicians make enough noise to even be noticed today?

Steve Cooper talks with Comic Todd Sawyer. Todd has performed in all fifty states, eight countries, and has been seen on television, college campuses, and USO tours entertaining the troops. Todd recently was on a three year tour with the Blue Collar Comedy’s Ron White and was a writer on CMT's Ron White's 2011 Comedy Salute to the Troops. He also won the prestigious Seattle Stand-up Comedy Competition and has made multiple appearances on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
One day you are smoking Snoop Dog's weed, the next day you need an Israeli guy to protect you in the recording studio. Welcome back, Comical Radio! Double dose of the Carlin Call-in today. First up, Pat, George Carlin's older brother. Danny and the crew forced him to speak in a Popeye voice (to be fair, Pat thought he was just being dogger, then he reminisced about the old days when the brother's stole wallets from a department store and discovered the ultimate theft of the magi, nothing to put in the wallet unless you sell it, then no where to put the money once it is sold. Kelly, George Carlin's daughter, called in next and extended her services as a life-coach the Comical Crew. Once it was all sorted out, the results were damning: anyone who needs a life coach actually just needs rehab. The problem is, once everyone is off drugs and alcohol, what are they to do with their lives? I smell a need for a life coach yet! Tom Leopold, writer for Seinfeld, Cheers, and some bigger shows came in to the studio with a tasty travel tip: The best chicken salad can be found at the snack bar at the Holocaust Museum. Don't doubt Leopold's opinions for a second, he learned to masturbate by humping Playboys on the ground and is convinced that Chevy Chase is not a jerk. Ian Bagg came in fresh off a glamorous subway ride where he attempted to keep his opinions about Bruce Springsteen to himself. It wouldn't be proper coming from a member of the Canadian Alliance, an outfit that unites Bagg with fellow Maple Leaf Comedians. Here are Ian's paraphrased opinions of fellow Canadians Harland Williams and Jim Carrey. Jim Carey: "Me, Myself and Irene" was a great movie that highlights the downturn of Rene Zellweger's appeal. Harland Williams: Is a bucket full of golf balls Dylan Gadino called in with the Punchline Update, here's the synthesized news: Blue Collar Comedy should be called Hillbilly Comedy. And that was the show. Stay tuned for future cries for help and acknowledgments of grandeur.
