“What if you could be a better husband, father, and man without the use of your legs or hands?”That was the question that Chad Hymas [hi-miss]'s father asked him,  as Chad lay in a hospital bed. He had suddenly become a quadrapaletic after a farming accident. His dad's words sparked the hope that Chad needed– and today, years later, he is a devoted husband and dad and an inspiring speaker– despite his physical disabilities. Everyone has limitations– your son included. As parents, it's important that we help our sons identify and face those limitations head on, as Chad's dad did.  Remind him that being perfect is not God's call for his life. He can glorify God not in spite of– but because of and through– his own weaknesses. For more ideas on raising boys to be godly men, visit Trail Life USA or RaisingGodlyBoys.com.

Interview was done January 11, 2021! I love meeting new people willing to let me in and share their “lemon to lemonade” experience! This story is about Chad who was permanently injured in an accident at age 27, over 20 years ago. Now hear about all that he is accomplishing without the use of legs and hands! What message do you get from this interview? ABOUT the LemonAid Stand: Heidi started hosting the LemonAid Stand live radio talk show, over 20 years ago, in 1999! It all came about when Heidi was dealing with thoughts of suicide, inadequacy, and dealing with infertility. She realized as she reached out to others and heard their stories, she would be uplifted and inspired no matter what she was going through. So this podcast has old "Original" shows from that time period. It also has "New" shows that are currently be recorded with new guests. And it has "Update" shows where Heidi reached out to original radio show guests to find out how the past 20 years have been! Do you know a story that needs to be shared? Chad Hymas joined me this morning from his elk ranch in Rush Valley, Utah to discuss how he’s been finding his way through the covid-19 crisis, which he describes as worse than the accident leading to his quadriplegia. In 2001, at the age of 27, Chad broke his neck and severed his spinal cord while attempting to transfer a 2,000 bale of hay with a tractor. Chad explains how he had gotten into the habit of ignoring the warning light that came on that fateful day which indicated low hydrolytic fuel and how, as a result, he didn’t get to witness his youngest son take his first steps. Ironic, right?Chad is a member of the National Speaker Association Hall Of Fame and travels the world, mostly solo, despite his seemingly insurmountable physical limitations. He explains how he’s able to do it, and how grateful he is for it.We discussed his inspiring journey (author, elk rancher, athlete, motivational speaker, father, husband) some local politics (subdivisions), Covid-19, anxiety, travel (less), working his ranch, safe social gatherings, new dynamics in relationships, adoption, national politics, as well as his newly constructed recording/broadcasting studio where he intends to keep Doing What Must Be Done.

Episode: 2018.4.3The Living Full Out Show with Nancy Solari wants you to have trust in yourself and others. Sometimes, there are situations you encounter that are out of your hands. You can try to take back control, but gripping too tightly may prove exhausting. Knowing when to let go and have faith that the circumstance will work out can give you peace of mind. Looking to those around you for assistance, instead of trying to brave through life on your own, can show you how to handle it better. Our first guest is Kristen, who is an introvert that wants to meet more people. Nancy teaches Kristen to find what is most special about herself, and use it to connect. By taking risks, Kristen may find a new friend who could benefit from her. Kristen can set goals for how much she interacts with people and trust that they will have camaraderie. Our next guest is Rainey, who is unhappy with her job and wonders if she should stay there. Nancy instructs Rainey to think on the advice she would give someone else, then apply it to herself. The answers are already there, but Rainey may need to have the courage to listen to her heart. Rainey can have assurance that there are other jobs out there that may be a better fit. Our inspirational guest is Chad Hymas, who was paralyzed when a 2000-pound bale of hay fell on his head and broke bones in his neck. Despite the seriousness of the accident, Chad put faith in his body to survive. After learning he was paralyzed in all four limbs, Chad determined to live with purpose. Relearning to perform daily tasks, Chad has since traveled the world to encourage others with his experience. Our final caller is Jason, who wants to know what he needs to do to find the right partner. Nancy tells Jason to think about what he seeks in a prospective partner, instead of the other way around. Jason can express his desires early in the dating process and find a person who is compatible. Someone special could come along with a trait that is unexpected, so he may need to keep an open mind. Understanding when to pull back if you are at your limit can prevent you from burning out. Yet, you may feel you have failed if you stand down. Taking the time to learn a lesson from your struggle can be what you need to do to go forward. You may need to rely on your loved ones to support you on your journey. By trusting even when the future is less clear, you can grow stronger and live full out.

My friend and mentor, Ty Bennett is nearly two decades younger than I, but infinitely wiser. He, along with Hall of Fame speaker Chad Hymas and New York Times bestselling author Don Yeager, recently announced the publication of their book, The Two Most Important Days, a parable about finding and living your purpose in life. While the book targets a broad audience, it will resonate with social entrepreneurs as especially relevant. “The main idea,” Bennett says, “is to discover what your purpose truly is. When you are driven by passion and living your purpose, your work becomes contagious.” He adds, “I think for entrepreneurs and changemakers it is important to understand that people don’t buy what you do, they buy what you stand for. Purpose creates movements and builds tribes.” Please consider whether a friend or colleague might benefit from this piece and, if so, share it.

Hi looking forward to recording with you shortly. If you do have headphones then please use them for superior audio quality. This will not require video. Thanks In 2001, todays guest had everything a beautiful wife two sons, two thriving businesses and parents and brothers who loved and supported him in everything he did. It seemed he couldn't fail. Everything he touched turned to gold.  And then a rushed decision to ignore safety in favour of getting home to see his baby boy take his first steps changed everything forever. A few minutes of caution could've kept his golden life on track, and he would live to regret his decision – until he changed his mind about what his life was for. A 2,000-pound bale of hay shattered his neck leaving him a quadriplegic. But his dreams were not paralyzed that day – he became an example of what is possible. With desperation, dedication and determination, and the help and love of his family and friends, he set out to reinvent himself, take risks, and do things he never thought he could or would do, even when his body was whole and fully functional. In the years since his accident, he now travels the world, speaking to companies, kids in schools at all grade levels, families and individuals whose lives are being remolded by their own events. He has become the living demonstration of what is possible, if we find different ways of doing what must be done. So why can he now see the possibility in his life which weren't visible to him before the accident? And if he could go back in time, would he still allow the accident to happen, or does he now see it as a gift to finding his true path in life? Well lets find as it with great delight, that I start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Chad Hymas.
