But according to Bob Lugowe — you'd be wrong. And seeing as how Bob is one of the most stand-up dudes we've ever encountered in this biz; we can't really argue with the results. On this episode we talk to the Brutal Panda honcho about running a record label, working at Relapse, starting out on the Local H street team, having the cool mom, Sony, Beyonce, Priest, Mariah, Christmas downloads, alt-rock reissues, the late Mike Lara, Fight Amp, Couch Slut, Cherubs, and we play an insanely/brutally hard round of WHAT'S THE BEST?!? featuring Prince.

We talk about how this massive multi-day heavy music fan's dream in Tilburg (The Netherlands) has evolved and, of course, Andrew provides vicarious enjoyment. Hearing stories (Andrew's chance to ask members of Khanate a hilarious question!) and amazing sets by COUCH SLUT, KHANATE, THE KEENING, & many other killer artists, is something we cannot get enough of! We're still reeling from last week's Reynoldsmania, but in the wake of our conversation with the great music scribe about the past and future of electronic music, this time we're firmly in the present.First, Chal puts forward a thesis about the genre trend of the moment – a movement that brings together Taylor Swift, Disney Adults, A. G. Cook and Warhammer freaks. Welcome to the lorecore era.Next, we wade knee-deep into the sludgy waters of NYC band Couch Slut's new album You Could Do It Tonight, a must-listen for fans of metal and hardcore's scuzzier side, equal parts uncomfortable and funny. We chat about why bands like Couch Slut feel so refreshing compared to so much of the extreme music that came before them.Speaking of humour, is Chappell Roan's The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess the messy pop masterpiece we so desperately need in 2024? Maybe not, considering it actually came out last year, but we only just discovered it and we're both obsessed. Old school FACT fans might remember our love for Miley's Bangerz era and Sky Ferreira's Night Time, My Time, and this LP is in that lineage, offering ridiculous tunes and modern dating advice to boot. Thanks for listening to No Tags.

You're either part of the solution, or you're part of the problem”. Joe Dimuantes is a talented multi-instrumentalist who's been part of the Leeds/Keighley music scene for many years. He drums in post-hardcore band Sounds of Swami and bass in revered skate-punks The Human Project. The latter band hit pause before lockdown, but Sounds of Swami are actively writing and recording right now, working on a follow up to 2017's Furniture for Modern Living. Joe and I sat down in August and has a chat about how the world was growing after the weight of lockdowns and the absence of live music. We had a reflective conversation on a rainy Sunday afternoon, covering the benefits of slowing down and taking a break from music, the wild memories we have of nu-metal and ska-punk bands of the past, and the oppressive heat and sticky floors of punk shows. We had a lengthy conversation about Random Hand because, apparently, I can't resist it. Joe also gave us an insight into the future intentions of Sounds of Swami, The Human Project and a rather intriguing potential cover band... Sounds of Swami have a brand new track included on the Fugazi charity compilation put together by the folks at Ripcord Records. Silence is a Dangerous Sound: A Tribute to Fugazi is out now - it's an incredible, wide-ranging project featuring Fugazi covers from 43 bands. Big-name contributors include Shai Hulud, Authority Zero, La Dispute and Belvedere ... plus a band called Couch Slut, which has me intrigued. Be sure to check out the compilation. Big shout out to The Parish in Huddersfield - an excellent venue that's a must-visit if you find yourself in the north. Shoutouts also to Random Hand, Lightyear and Lockjaw Records' Black Lives Matter compilation who feature heavily in the conversation. Interviews, reviews, articles and more: shout-louder.com. The Nine Circles Audio Thing
Couch Slut's "Contempt" -- the Nine Circles group review

Originally published 7/26/2017 As y'all know, we here at Nine Circles were pretty big fans of Couch Slut's first album, My Life as a Woman. (Or maybe you didn't know that, I dunno.) Either way, that album — released just under three years ago on the now-defunct Handshake Inc. label — established the band, and vocalist Megan Osztrosits in particular, as a filthy, aggressive force in the New York scene and beyond. (Certainly in our Bandcamp collections, that's for sure.) Three years removed, the band's gearing up to release album number two, Contempt, on July 28 via Gilead Media. What better way to celebrate than by getting a group to review the album? Five of us — Josh S., Chris, Zyklonius, Vincent and Dan — got together over the weekend to put our thoughts together. In short: we like the thing. In long: well, you'll have to listen to find out! 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram

Megan Osztrosits of Couch Slut hangs with special guest co-host Seth W and I (during the great 2016 blizzard) to talk about early Lehigh Valley Pennsylvania life, a little bit about her band Couch Slut, murder, our love for dogs and conspiracy theories. We absolutely fall apart at the end; SUCH a fun hang. I talk a bit about #metalbandcampgift club and hitting 20,000 listens in the intro. Thank you everyone! YES!!! #metalbandcampgiftclub is one of the biggest things on the twits right now, but what the heck is it? I'm proud to say that we have the very first meeting of the minds that thought this thing up. Jeremiah Nelson and Zach Goldsmith (Manny-O-War) join the story with the amazing story of this past week. It never ceases to amaze me how much generosity there is out there. Enjoy this story! We LOVE you. Take care. Bye-bye.
